I will NEVER take another Croisi Europe cruise. I wouldn't even want it for free! The food is a sit down with a set menu and they take forever to serve (sometimes dinner could take 2 hours with over 45 minutes to get the first dish!). With regards, to the food: Zero options. I HATED the food. Every single meal was depressing. It was unhealthy, tasteless, and they kept serving pork over and over. Hardly any vegetables and when they served them they were extremely overcooked. The salad was terrible (no variety, no dressing... just horrible. Apparently, they just expect you to add salt and oil and made an exception with our table bringing some vinegar. Even the bread was bad (again, no whole wheat, rye or even good white baguette. Seriously! The desserts were also lame. The food just made me miserable. Soe dishes were even gross. For the full 11 days, I NEVER ate anything enjoyable. This was the worst cruise of my life and I have been to many. Food is such a big part of holidays and cruising. Every single other cruise I have taken I loved the food. This was just terrible. They could not accommodate any dietary restrictions even when they tried. I swear I asked for a plate of vegetables and got a sliced steamed carrot. That was my dinner. Another time, I asked for a bowl of soup and I got some hot water with some green peas floating. It was disgusting. The staff was friendly, but clearly they are understaffed. A sit-down dinner, under those circumstances, is over pretentious and impossible to deliver in a timely fashion. Needless to say a boat of senior citizens (Jews who don't eat pork, vegans, diabetic, dairy-free, etc) all ate poorly during the cruise. I was traveling with a disabled lady and the crew does not have any kind of empathy or clue on how to help. For starters, we had to tell them to reserve the front seat of the buses for excursions. The cruise animator would take us through streets or paths full of steps, even though there were other options. Another day it was super cold and we went on a little tourist train to the top of a church. I had to beg and insist for the driver to roll down the covers. We all got the flu and were sick for the rest of thetrip after being out in the cold. All I can say is that this cruise line was extremely disappointing. Read Less

I chose this cruise as I thought it would be a good experience to travel on a European cruise line. The smoke smell on this ship was very overwhelming, especially after meals. The crew were constantly smoking on the deck right outside the reception area and the smoke blew in every time the sliding door opened. The average age of the passengers is very old which made it difficult on tours. The food was good and the staff were helpful and tried their best to accommodate, but I would never consider booking on this cruise line again unless you love the smell of cigarette smoke. The constant noise of loudspeakers announcing activities, excursions and dinner times were constant and very annoying as they were repeated in three languages. There were only four passengers on this cruise who spoke English exclusively , and as a result we had all our meals with this other couple for the entire cruise. Luckily we got along or it could have been worse. Read Less

This was a family cruise for 11 of us. We are very seasoned cruisers. It was so far below expectations, I wanted to give it 0 stars but that wasn’t an option. Where to start? Room and every other room was excruciatingly hot. Response from crew was that it’s an old boat. If you speak English choose another cruise line. The bartender made it clear we were bothering her and the only excitement or friendliness we got from her is when she excitedly waved goodbye. The 2 cruise directors were very sweet as were our waiters. I’m a vegetarian and literally was served a carrot for dinner. My poor father in law. This was his last visit to his homeland and even he couldn’t wait to get off this ship.. We all said that thank goodness it was only a 4 day cruise. Just an honest review and I never write reviews but this was an expensive cruise and just trying to save others from the torture. Read Less

This was a last- minute booking. We knew the ships could be outdated - and this one was (gaudy orange walls, green carpet and shiny gold ceilings) and that the majority of people on board would be French but decided to give this company a try. Unlike other lines, Croisi Europe does not include any trips although they say that all drinks are included - this is true unless you want any liqueurs, branded spirits, decent wine or anything but very basic port. There are daily cocktails which appear to come ready mixed and don't seem to contain much alcohol. The wine we got with meals was cheap and nasty- we found one of the bottles for €3 in a local shop. Trips are expensive and you get the impression that things are included as time-fillers rather than because they are interesting. There are no allowances for slower walkers, as there are on other lines. Smoking is allowed in all outside areas which means that everyone has to suffer when someone smokes at the front of the sun deck, which they do all the time. There is nowhere to escape from the constant noisy chatter on board. There is no choice at mealtimes, although they try to offer alternatives if you let them know you don't like something. They do try to include regional specialities. Breakfast is largely continental and is the only meal served buffet style. There were eggs and a variety of weird sausages and we even had bacon one one occasion. The river is stunning with wild, remote areas and five dams with huge locks. The canopy on the sun deck had to be lowered each time we went through the locks and for low bridges and you have to be careful not to get wet when the ship passes under the guillotine gates from which water pours as you leave the locks. The only places where there is anything to see when you stop are Regua and Pinhao. Both are small places with a few shops and cafes but neither is anything special. If you go on the excursions, the ship moves on and you miss a lot of the beautiful scenery. Porto is interesting but very hilly. It has 30-odd port houses. We didn't feel that this cruise was good value because the trips were extra. By the time you add flights and transfers onto the basic cost, it didn't work out much different from other far superior lines and would have been more expensive if you went on the trips. We did see other Croisi Europe ships which appeared to be much nicer than ours and we were told that the ship is due a re-fit at the end of the 2017 season. This is long overdue! Read Less
