Just got back from our first river cruise and have to say it was a fantastic experience. Croisi Europe advertises their cruise as "value for the money" and I have to agree that is what they delivered. You can easily pay twice what we did for the exact same trip and excursions. The La Boheme is rated as a four star ship and shows some minor need for cosmetic repairs but overall is very clean, well maintained, comfortable and easy to negotiate. The high point of the time on board for any cruise is the food and we were not disappointed. Lunch and dinner were always a 3 course meal with a wide variety of tastes and textures. Some of the best food I've ever eaten I must say. As expected for a French company the desserts and breads were magnificent, as was the wine. The breakfast buffet at first was a bit of a challenge. One of the groups on board had a different cultural background related to personal space, waiting your turn in line and simple manners which made it easier for us to just wait 20 mins. to arrive at breakfast. It was hard to understand their behavior given everything was refilled as soon as it was needed. The only other negative was we had Japanese, English, Spanish, and French on board and every announcement was made in all four languages at a volume that could not be ignored which took a great deal of time. Most times this was unnecessary given the information was already on the TV and posted in the reception area. Both minor annoyances only. The crew was very friendly and we made friends with the ships maintenance leader who showed us the engine room and other "guy things" the we would never have been able to see on a large ship. I even got to talk with the captain and ask a few nautical questions. When not serving the passengers the crew was always cleaning or tidying up the ship. We only speak English but this was never a problem, and a few times a bit of fun. The excursions were done well but for me a bit repetitive by the end as one castle looks the same as the other and the gold in one church is as disturbing and the next. But the views were breath taking to be sure. A word of caution, most of the excursions are for those reasonably fit. There is lots of climbing stairs and steep slopes, but getting to the top is well worth it. We have taken 6 cruises, all on the ocean, but none of them have provided the level of fond memories this river cruise has. I would certainly recommend this cruise for anyone that doesn't need the glitz of Viking or Tauck. You will get 100% of the experience at Read Less

We wanted to visit Croatia and hike while cruising and that was exactly what we got. The ship is very clean, well managed, everything works, smooth and quiet sailing, with excellent staff, food and service. Our cabin was the basic cabin and perfectly adequate. We had two hikes a day with two guides and about 40 passengers so we got to see more of each island, be outside in the lovely weather and get al ot of exercise so we could enjoy the great food and drink in the evenings. Our guides were great, some of the hikes were quite strenuous but always well planned with beautiful scenery everywhere. We enjoyed getting to know the other hiking passengers. I liked the fact that the very reasonable price included everything, all excursions, drinks, etc etc. so there were no "extras". There were fairly simple programs in the evenings which was fine because our days were very full. The Dalmatian coast is absolutely stunning so everywhere we went was gorgeous. Even though there were only 4 English speakers, they provided special English speaking guides in a couple of the cities where there were historical sites. We will definitely go on another CroisiEurope cruise as soon as we can. Read Less

Wishing to cruise the Duoro River, and finding this Croisieurope offering with hiking excursions made this a perfect choice....and it was. The trip was great. Boat was well maintained and clean. The staff were friendly and willing to always help with explanations and advice. The English-speaking walking guide, Rick, did an outstanding job. The food and food service was fabulous. And last, I cannot say enough about the young woman, Susanne, in charge of customer service, housekeeping and wait staff. The local folk dancing on the last evening was very enjoyable. Matthew the Croisieurope USA was also very responsive and helpful. Whole experience is highly recommended. Too bad they are not able to offer more of the hiking cruises in this region. You should note that the Duoro River is shallow and narrow. For this reason, the boats are not allowed to sail at night, as we had experienced on other river cruises, and do all their sailing during daylight. Read Less

Overall the cruise was a fantastic experience. The boat itself is very sleek and chic. Cabins are certainly small but the storage and layout is very clever. The salon and deck were always full of people relaxing and socializing, and the restaurant was comfortable and casual. As mentioned, the crew on the vessel is outstanding. Zoltan, in particular, is to be commended for his unflagging professionalism, enthusiasm, and friendliness. He set the tone for the entire experience and is a stellar representative of the Anne Marie, as well as CroisiEurope. Many thanks also to Chef Pierre as well for keeping everyone well fed! The cuisine was very enjoyable, especially the marvelous BBQ on the deck. Excursions were really fun and the guide, Virginie, was AMAZING. Favorites include the walking tour of Aigues-Mortes and the olive oil tasting. The free time in the port cities was also VERY much appreciated. Finally, I was very impressed with the caliber of the cycling experience. The bikes were super easy to ride and the paths along the river were in fantastic shape! Read Less

We chose this 3 night barge cruise to enhance our vacation experience while visiting Paris for a week, and we were not disappointed. Thanks to a very attentive crew and pleasant accomodations on the river barge "RAYMONDE", we were treated to an emersive experience in Parisian culture and city life. The barge was initially docked at the base of the Eiffel Tower when we boarded on day 1. We stayed there overnight with a fabulous view of the Tower at night and the busy river scene of passing sightseeing boats and dinner cruises. On day 2, the barge sailed on the Seine River and then on to a canal which took us through interesting locks and tunnels to a quiet neighborhood in Paris. From there, we embarked on a city tour of Paris via tour bus. The Raymonde overnighted in this quiet neighborhood. On Day 3, we did another bus tour in the morning before leaving to sail back through the locks to the Seine for our return trip to our original embarkation point where we again overnighted. While onboard the Raymonde, we were treated to gourmet meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) prepared with loving care by our chef Remy. Lunch and dinner were accompanied by fine wines selected to complement each course served. We were treated like family by everyone in the crew, and were sad to leave. I recommend this experience to couples and families who want more than just staying in a hotel and seeking out places to eat while in Paris. Thanks to the crew of the Raymonde for an adventure we will never forget. Read Less

Our group embarkation was a breeze granted the barge only holds 22 passengers! The staff was very friendly and accommodating to the entire group. I sailed with 11 others. Here is what you can expect: - Intimate, small boutique feel barge. Brand new and stylish. Ideal for family reunions and girlfriend getaways. - Great food - locally sourced and cooked daily. Our chef was just fantastic. - Cabins are very small, but it's a barge cruise so you will only be in your cabin to change clothes - trust me, you want to be experiencing the canals outside. - Loved the open air top terrace - especially beautiful viewing the Eiffel Tower from the river with a bonus of the original Lady Liberty! - Wine will be served at lunch and dinner everyday. All liquor included which we loved! - Staff is funny and looks for ways to entertain their guests and engage them in local culture and flavor. - We loved experiencing the canal locks - definitely a sight to see and experience first hand up close and personal. We are experienced cruisers and highly recommend adding the 3 night Paris Itinerary to your travels in France! Read Less

I truly was not expecting much when I climbed aboard the barge but I was in for such a surprise. The food was 5 star worthy, the crew looked after every need any of us had. It was such a relaxing trip with beautiful views of Paris. Cabins are very small but honestly you are only in it to sleep. Going through the canals of Paris was truly a unique trip. The excursions that were planned for us were fun with great tour guides. Bikes are available for use. Dining outside if the weather permits is also available. CrosiEurope is not a household name but I feel more people should look at this as an option while you are in France as a relaxing way to see the city of lights. I would definitely go again. This is a great cruise option for a family or group of friends to rent out the barge. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we wanted a special celebration for our 20th wedding anniversary on December 28th. We flew to Baden Baden on a Ryan Air flight on the 27th and had organised an airport transfer straight to Strasbourg where we stayed overnight, our hotel La Maison Rouge was lovely, right in the centre of the old town. We had most of the next day to explore the city before boarding for our cruise. Unfortunately the Christmas Market had closed early due to the attack in Berlin but there was still plenty to see and do in Strasbourg and the local beer was definitely worth sampling! We were the only two English travellers on board and all the announcements and shore excursions were in French (most of which we managed to grasp) but we were assigned our own lovely personal translator Priscilla, all the crew and staff took great care of us and everyone really went out of their way to make sure that we had all the information we needed. The food was absolutley superb and the accompanying wines which were included in the cost of the cruise were just perfect and there was plenty to choose from, the dining experience was a real highlight of the cruise, we could not have asked for anything more. We didn't see the lovely views because the weather was quite foggy, on the plus side it means that we could do this same cruise and be surprised by the scenery. I would totally recommend this cruise, the boat and the itinerary to anyone, everything about it was just fabulous. Read Less

Seemed ideal for Christmas market cruise - advertised as 5 nights, all inclusive, found out approx one week before commencement that cruise only 4 nights - but same price! Too late to cancel at that stage. On arrival on board we found it it was not all inclusive as advertised all drinks with meals were not included. When brochure advertising was pointed out to company this was dismissed as a "mistake". Standard of food was hit & miss BUT no menu choice - take it or leave it!! Entertainment was geared to the (admittedly majority) French passengers with very little regard to other nationality/languages. Sold & priced as luxury cruise - but charged 2 Euro for coffee after dinner! This petty charge also applied at Gala dinner, even thought we had been supplied with free wine at this meal!?!?! Would NOT recommend, overpriced, disappointing. If company want to expand into Irish & UK market they must develop a broader entertainment base. And finally PLEASE provide even a limited food menu choice. Read Less

CroisiEurope should be proud of the staff on board the Michelangelo, they were magnificent, very helpful friendly and pleasant at all times, they clearly worked hard. The ship was spotless and the food absolutely wonderful. The cabins were roomy with plenty of wardrobe space for two and there was a large window in each. Air con or heating was standard at the flick of a button and cabins were cleaned thoroughly each day. I would say that it was great value for money. I would definitely recommend to all my friends, a holiday with a special difference. The tours and the cruising was excellent, Michelangelo docked every night by the quayside in Venice not too far from the Doges Palace and St Marks Square. During the day when not on an organised tour its possible to see lots of Venice using the vaporettos to get around. The atmosphere on board Michelangelo was very convivial with some form of entertainment on every night. Read Less

The cruise fit our time frame and our budget. Very reasonable singles, which were much larger than we anticipated, and very comfortable. Thoroughly enjoyable. Tours were fun: well planned and very interesting, with electronic head gear so we didn't have to all bunch around the guide. The most impressive part was how efficiently the crew performed. The tours were pretty much timed to the minute. Every member of the crew was helpful and polite. The food was wonderful! The most impressive part was how efficiently the crew performed. One awesome sight, not mentioned in any of the brochures or information, was the functioning of the locks. There were about 7 locks on the Douro, and they were awesome. Absolutely amazing to be on the top deck and watch how well they were engineered, and to watch the crew help the ship navigate through the locks, with only about 12" clearance on either side. All in all a wonderful trip. I can't wait till I go on another one. Read Less

I booked the Elbe Princess very early as thought they had solved the low water problem. Sadly it has not. The Moldau Canal is closed and we were advised we would board outside Prague. This was not true. On arrival we were taken for 2 nights to the awful Hilton conference hotel on the outskirts of Prague with no prior warning. We finally boarded in Dresden. Due to the poor organisation of the Purser when one of the Haval Canal lock had a problem the ship had to wait 3.5 hours whilst passengers drove in and out of Berlin. They should have been collected them in the centre of Berlin but unfortunately he had no grasp of the situation and poor knowledge of the city. Coach drivers got lost in Berlin and Prague and seemed to have little knowledge of either city. Unfortunately the tourism crew on the ship Purser and Animator were not very experienced there was also a language problem. He was Hungarian and spoke French and a small amount of English. The Animator was Argentinian and spoke English, some French. The passengers were predominately British and Norwegian. Read Less

We booked this cruise through great rail journeys. We had originally booked to go through champagne region, but a couple of weeks before they contacted us and said we couldn't go because of lock maintenance. We were offered a refund, a later date or an alternative route. After much conferring, we chose the alternative route, which embarked at Joigny. When we received our itinerary we noticed that they were sending us on a dog leg route, quite pointlessly sending us on another train after the Eurostar, and then a long coach ride. After this was pointed out, it was changed, and we had a two hour trip on an extremely uncomfortable mini bus. Not the greatest start! We were a party of eight, and we discovered that the rest had cancelled. The barge has the capacity for 24, so we were more than delighted to have it to ourselves. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed by a crew of six, all of which were absolutely fantastic. They were Laurie, Sylvie, another Sylvie, Nicky, Mohammed, and Alain the captain. Nothing was too much trouble, the food was excellent, all the excursions were brilliant, with knowlegeable guides, and the barge was superb. We enjoyed cycling along the tow paths. We spent our last day seeing Paris, and moored under the Eiffel Tower. Champagne in the hot tub is recommended. So do book this fabulous trip, but do it direct with croisi Europe. Read Less

We booked this cruise through Kuoni, and they found us a Voyages Jules Verne cruise. There was a party of 19 (all English) and we were allocated Places on Croisi Europe cruise. The ship had 100 cabins and was just the right size for our first experience of cruising. On arrival at Dubrovnik Airport we were met by Ivor, our taxi driver who took our bags and drove us in a Mercedes to the port where our ship was docked. We had paid for private transfers £55 per person each way, totally £220 for return journey. ( I will comment on return journey later) We were greeted by the Cruise Director, George, on arrival and were allowed to leave our luggage on board until it was time to register for our cabin later in the day. The cabin was really nice with a compact shower room, but had plenty of storage space. There was a safe, but it was situated on a high shelf so was rather awkward to get to as were not tall enough to reach it. The twin beds were comfortable and the linen was clean and fresh, towels were changed every day and were displayed on the bed in some very decorative patterns. There were 50 crew members and at the evening meal we were introduced to the Captain and the officers and crew by George, our Cruise Director. All of the crew were friendly and gave excellent service to all, in the restaurant the waiters introduced themselves and they had a set number of tables to serve. The only critique we had was that the French passengers were all served first and we, The English, were always last to be served, hence we were unable to view the concerts and special entertainments, as there was no room left for us in the Salon Bar/Lounge. The food was exceptional, three courses for lunch and dinner with plenty of wine to accompany it. The Chef and his team prepared first class meals which were enjoyed by all. The breakfasts were buffet style and all tastes were satisfied. For our Party, all shore excursions, were included and they were excellent, with Engish Speaking tour guides on each occasion. We stopped at some wonderful locations and every time were treated to some beautiful scenery and historic wonders. The two lounge areas onboard had bar facilities and drinks were free and an early morning coffee service was also provided as there was no coffee making facilities in the cabins. All of the areas accessible to us were well maintained and immaculately maintained. All too soon our cruise came to an end and it was time to depart for the airport, As we had paid for the transfer to Voyages Jules Verne at the time of booking, we expected the same standard of vehicle that had brought us from the airport, to take us back, but this was not the case, we were told we had to share the transport, which was a six seater people carrier back to the airport, and as I had a problem with my knee it was so hard for me to get up into the seat and then get down again, and we learnt that the 4 people sharing the transport had not paid for their transfer, as they had transfers included in the price of their holiday. So that meant that we had paid £110 for our return to the airport, when adverts for local taxis were charging 35 Euros for up to 4 persons with luggage to get from Port to the airport. We felt that we had been ripped off by VJV. We have complained to VJV about this but did not get a satisfactory reply, so we will definitely not be recommending them in the future to anyone. Also our Travel agent at Kuoni feels that they treated us unfairly and they will be very careful not to recommend them to their customers. VJV have lost our future business and we have booked two cruises next year with another company. Very poor Customer service from them. Read Less

Visit to Camargue area on first day was very long time on the bus with very little wildlife to see. Would recommend leaving it out. Especially after a 5hr bus ride from Lyon to meet up with the tour the day before. Then my bag was dragged up judder bars onto the boat by a young girl and broke off the wheel. Staff tried to fix it but I have had to buy another bag. No apology given. Instructions to find meeting point at Georges Brassiere were very poor. We wandered around for an hour after getting off at Lyon Panache station. Very stressful. Not a good start. All other sightseeing destinations were very good. Guides were excellent and very personable. Very busy days and too long on buses though. Needed to be given more information on thevery time frames. Doing walking tours in the afternoon in 32 degrees with no water given as we left boat. Need more flexibility if staying in a certain place. Breakfasts were boring. Only pineapple and melon offered 2 days. If you didnt drink coffee you had to get your own tea in very small cups. Same hot food every day. The scrambled eggs were not nice. Need more choice. Lettuce during lunch was old and withered. I told waitress and she just shrugged her shoulders. Lunches were set menus. A choice would have been good. Purser was very good. Helpful and personable. Night time skit was so amateurish and embarrassing to watch. It was done by the waiters and was dreadful. LEAVE IT OUT. Need more night-time entertainment. Need to enforce casual tidy dress for meals. One man near us wore a scruffy singlet EVERY night for dinner. DISGUSTING. Staff should have asked him to go and change. He did have shirts with him. Wine choices for meals were very limited. Gala dinner was excellent. Mainly French speaking. Some Americans, Norwegians and Four New Zealanders. They always gave the ship information in French first. Then the French would start talking when giving the information in English and Portuguese. It made us feel like we weren't equal. They needed to alter it around as to what language they used first. Enjoyed the destinations. Loved the Lyon night cruise but improvements need to be made as mentioned above. Read Less

Loved this small boat and everyone who worked on it.The staff was very friendly and did their best to meet our needs. I thought that the french meals and wines were lovely and there was plenty of food. The small size, with about 80 passengers, was just right: Most of the passengers were French, Spanish, Norwegian, British and then just the 8 of us Americans, and we enjoyed some of the evening entertainment which were friendly competitions with the others on the ship. The 8 of us were traveling together and we requested one large dining table, and the crew accommodated us, no problem The guides for our excursions were, for the most part, quite capable and entertaining and these excursions were well organized, some on comfortable buses and others were walking tours of the old towns, castles, cathedrals, etc. I would have liked a little more time to eat at the local cafes, to have the chance to try the foods from the different regions, rather than returning to the ship for every meal, but the food on the ship was excellent, so it is not a big complaint. Our cabins were adequate - there was plenty of room to hang up clothes and slide the suitcases out of the way, under the bed, so we could move around easily, and they were cleaned every day, with fresh towels. The excursions were all included in the cost of the cruise. We thought that this cruise was a great value for the money. Read Less

This is the second time we've sailed with CroisiEurope as a result of booking the holiday from Archers/Cosmos and for the price it's very good, ok the cabins are small ish (but how much time do you spend in them). The food was very enjoyable, although it was a fixed menu, but it made us try dished we wouldn't normally try which is all part of the holiday experience. A reasonable quality wine (free of charge) was available at both lunch and dinner plus all standard drinks on board were free. Overall the trip up and down the Danube was wonderful, visiting so many iconic cities and towns however we thought the organised trips very expensive so did our own thing as nearly all of the places visited are within easy access from the place where the boat docked. We especially liked Budapest, Bratislava and Vienna and stayed over for an extra 3 nights in Vienna as there is so much to see and the boat trips seemed quite hurried to get in as much as possible in a day and a half. This was our first ever cruise, to celebrate our 50th birthday this year, as my wife was always afraid of motion sickness. During our 12 day Danube cruise she was never sick and never felt any discomfort. In fact I can say that unless you have the curtains open you do not even realize whether the ship is moving or not. Our adventure started in Linz. It was a pleasant experience from the word go. We arrived early, at around 13 00hrs. One of the entertainment organizers, Lilla, met us to help us with our luggage. Even though we insisted that we were OK, she insisted to help us. Our luggage was kept on board until it was time to check in. This whole ship and especially our cabin were kept tidy and spotlessly clean throughout the cruise. An upper deck cabin is recommended as it gives you the option to open the huge sliding window while in the cabin, both for fresh air as well as to take some memorable photos and video. Dining was always a pleasure experience. The quantity was adequate, especially since we were eating three times a day, something we do not usually do at home. French cuisine was promised and French cuisine we got, both in the quality and taste, and in the presentation. The staff in the dining room gave us excellent, personal service; always with a smile. Entertainment and excursions where prepared in detail and professionally carried out. Although we formed part of a small English speaking group, we never felt left out and every announcement or commentary was always promptly translated to us. To be balanced, I would like to mention two things which can be improved. The WiFi service left a bit to be desired and should be improved, both in its connectivity and also in its availability across the ship. During the excursions we would have liked to have some more free time for private exploring and shopping. To conclude, this was a dream holiday. The service was personal and outstanding. We managed to enjoy every minute of our experience. Finally we would like to say a big THANK YOU and a big WELL DONE to all the crew, both those seen as well as those unseen. A special mention and extra thank you goes to Anna, Andrea and Sophie for all the personal attention and pleasant surprises they prepared for us. Read Less

A small ship, with a nice Atmosphere. The crew are very friendly and helpful. However the biggest disappointment was the food. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, were well below an acceptable standard. Lunch and dinner was a set menu, no choice, apart from a couple of buffet lunches which were quite good. Cannot understand why all the lunches were not buffet type. Really did not enjoy any of the main courses, this was not fine dining. Also if I was being pedantic the entertainment is not up to much. Bingo, or quizzes seem to be the order of the day. Apart from the Gala night where the crew put on an enthusiastic and entertaining display. This ship is quite low key and very relaxing. The standard of cleanliness is very high. Had a very nice cabin with excellent shower. You probably pay for what you get, so this would be at the cheaper end of the market. However, if the could drastically improve the food, this ship would be great value for money. Read Less

Review of CroisiEurope Bottecelli 7 night cruise from Paris to Honfleur and return to Paris. Ship was docked in the heart of Paris just about a 10 minute walk from the Eiffle Tower. I arrived at around 4.30 which was too early to check in (usually 6.00 pm). However by 5 many passengers were arriving and the purser began checking everyone in. At check in passengers were allocated dining tables according to language spoken. This works very well and everyone from the U.K. who I spoke to found this totally satisfactory. In fact a large group from a tour company spread over 3 tables nearly revolted when their rep suggested table hopping to get to know each other better. I was shown to my cabin which was on the main deck. I had a twin for sole use which had t.v, safe, hairdryer, mirror, desk and chair. The bathroom consisted of w.c, shower cabinet and rubbish bin. During dinner on the first night the ship sailed upstream and moored mid river until it was dark. We then had a cruise along the Seine to see Paris illuminated by night. Some of the bridges are very low so passengers were only allowed on the sun deck proving they sat down and had to remain seated for safety until the cruise was over. I sat at the front on the main deck which gave just as good a view. Not all ships are able to offer this as I noticed many would have been far too tall to go under ther bridges. Being a French line all announcements are in French followed by English and then by any other languages needed. This cruise it was Spanish. The nationalities on board consisted at least of French, British, Spanish, Norwegian, Australian, Mexican and Russian. This time I do believe the French speakers were outnumbered by the English speakers. Dining is a buffet breakfast comprising of cereals, breads, fruits, cold meat, cheese, hot eggs, hot sausage, hot bacon bits, croisants, yogurts, teas and cofee and possibly many things I have already forgotten. Lunch and Dinner are either 3 or 4 course meals to a set menu. Main courses included veal, chicken, pork, rabbit, venison and fish. The menu is posted on the information chanel on the T.V. and should you not like what is on offer a substitution was available. Indeed one course was not for me I just told reception in the morning and received an alternative without hesitation. I noticed some passengers were obtaining a vegetarian meal daily. Waitresses/waiter are not allocated to specific tables so you get to see and speak to them all. Drinks are included with meals and throught the day when the lounge was was open. I understand that some of the wines were excellent but as I do not drink it I cannot comment. Entertainment consisted of a bi-lingual chap at an electric piano plus 1 night when a local singer and accordianist performed and another night where a folk troup performed. In addition we had the crew show which was based around the decades that the company has been in existance. Using film and live performers this was the best crew show I have seen on CroisiEurope. Rafting did rear its head a few times. On the second day sister ship Seine Princess moored alongside from 2 till 7. In Honfleur we docked alongside a Viking ship and our passengers had to alight via the sun deck. A little later the Seine Princess slipped in between the Viking ship and us. At Honfleur we docked against and alighted through the Seine Princess and finally back in Paris we docked alongside and left through sister ship France. Excursions were offered but as I am still recovering from a knee replacement I decided to explore the towns where we moored at my own pace. The exception being Paris where I went on a 3 hour panoramic tour of the city. The guide was excellent as was the driver. At €40 I thought this good value. My dining companions went on other excursions and I never heard any complaints. As I said we had many nationalities but we also had a mixed age group. 3 children who I would have estimated to be between 5 and 12 a few in their 30's and 40's with many 50 to 80 year olds. I am pleased that CroisiEurope still have a policy of tipping via a sealed envelope which is shared throughout the crew. Many unseen crew members do jobs which help our holidays run smoothly such as the kitchen staff and the engineers. This trip visits were made to both the wheelhouse and engine room but silly me missed out as I did not hear the announcement. Read Less

"Following a short illness, my husband experienced difficulty walking. After motoring down from France, we reached the ship only to find it was moored down a steep slope. Our hearts sank. But we needn't have worried. The excellent staff swung into action. A wheelchair was produced, our cases carried and we were quickly and comfortably settled on board. The cabins were small and when moored next to the sister ships, all glistening with chrome and glass, the Fernao did feel a little like Thomas the Tank Engine but we grew to love our friendly, comfortable little boat. True, the entertainment is geared to the French taste and the moorings are a little isolated but our little group of six English speakers was treated like royalty. Ricardo, the purser was incredible, he looked after the needs of the diverse mix on board with consummate skill, making sure everyone was happy. He arranged that we should have our own six seater Merc, with it's own English speaking guide, so we could fully enjoy the interesting excursions. On board, the food was very good, the impeccable service - kind and relaxed and the folk evening on the last night - fabulous. We had a great time." Read Less

My husband and I are experienced travelers. We are not cruise travelers, nor do we look for "all-inclusive" vacations. However, CroisiEurope's all-inclusive barge cruise through the Burgundy canals in France is high on our list of awesome vacations! Are you tired of touring the big European cities with trains, buses, metro's, and want to experience the smaller often overlooked quaint, historic towns? Think about a relaxing vacation on a barge cruise through Europe. These traditional barges (ours, "Jeannine", with 12 staterooms) offer 3 full course meals (4-star chef provided), unbelievable cuisine, all the wine, beer, coffee, tea, etc., you could ever want -- is a must. Every day we either watched the beautiful countryside of Burgundy from on board, or, we bicycled and walked the pathways along the barge paths through the beautiful countryside and visited these small, quaint towns along the way. CroisiEurope entertains with just the right amount of excursions, should you want to experience them. The crew of 6 were multi-lingual, very professional, and made sure we were safe, comfortable, and happy at all times. In fact, we made friends with each and every person on the boat that week...all from a different country. Very rewarding. Excellent job, CroisiEurope! We will be back to cruise with you again! We fancied the Douro. Very beautiful but there are no towns to stop at so you moor in the middle of no-where! We did stop at Regua for 45 minutes so could not get off and explore. Staff all very helpful. Very clean ship and quite comfortable, bathrooms have a very high step to get into and out of. Food very poor. No choice. miniscule portions of meat. The vegetables had been cooked for hours and wete soggy and seved in teaspoonfuls! Puddings came from Tesco or similar. Will not go with this compan again although the free drinks are quite good. Transport to and from ship badly organised. For instance on the way home a lot of people were on the same flight. This entailed a coach and 4 taxis although all could have fitted in one coach. I counted 8 coaches which would take 400 people but 2 ships at 140 each would only need 6 and no taxis of which there at least 10. For the sake of the environment changes have to be made. Read Less

We had an awesome time the crew were fantastic, the food exceptional, the shore excursions diverse and interesting. the cabin was small with twin beds but comfortable didn't need to be any bigger. we had an English speaking guide that went on the shore excursions with us which was very helpful. The ship was a good size not to big which made it quite intimate and suited us perfectly with lots of areas to sit and relax outside. the meals were 3 course and very diverse with something for everyone's tastes. I would definitely recommend this cruise to anyone that likes to take in the local culture, if your the kind of traveler who likes to sit in air-conditioned comfort and be waited on then this is probably not the right cruise for you, but on the other hand if you want to experience the Vietnamese and Cambodian rural areas then don't hesitate. It was awesome and would do again. Read Less
