We chose this cruise for the price and dates of travel. Embarkation and the ship were fine. This cruise had been marketed to European cruisers with very few Americans on board. Announcements were made in the languages of Europe and then in English. Dining room service was slow and food mediocre at best. Menu included extra cost selections that have been included at no extra cost on all other cruise we have been on(15+). Pizza was extra if you wanted to order one(on an Italian ship)! Ice cream was never free and never offered as a dessert in the dining room. I would not recommend this cruise or cruise line to anyone !!! I will not cruise with Costa again. Ports were the normal Western Caribbean stops plus Roatan, Honduras. The ship docked at the commercial pier in Ocho Rios, Jamaica some distance from the downtown even though the downtown pier was available. Read Less

This is an 8 day cruise with three ( 2 consecutive ) sea days. I don't know why the crew insisted on keeping the lido pool roof closed during all sea days (despite of sunshine and 27oC) creating an awful combination of food smell + pool chlorine + workout sweat, and isolating the others decks (10 and 11) from all the pool parties and contests. Nobody in our party of 22 wanted to go there. The lido buffet has insuficient lines for all the crowd on sea days, and many lines are permanently closed. Water machine on lido never had ice. No pizza, no ice cream or sandwiches on lido. No fruit juice machines after 11 AM. After 22:30h, it is very difficult to find food, there is only one line open at a time by night. By the way, some of the Costa Cruise Line policies are not kind: no free tap water during dinner, no laundries, no towel huts on pool. On the other hand, I saw top theater shows, entertainment staff is very good and guest services solved all my issues quickly. Read Less

We have been on past Costa cruises, and enjoyed them, and therefore booked this one, expecting to also enjoy it. It was a disappointment. First, let me mention some good things. The cabin staff was friendly and hard working, and the cruise director, Max, was excwllwnt. But, the restaurant experience was average to mediocre, and very disappointing. The serving staff seemed to be short-handed, and poorly trained. The meal service was haphazard. The menu was oddly planned. As an example, when chickwn parmigiana is offered, one should be able to have it with a side dish of pasta. Instead it was presented with french fries! Lobster was frozen and of very poor quality. Coffee was not offered, so it was necessary to ask for it. Then the server brought it to the person asking for it without asking anyone else if they might want some. The menu is not available before hand, either posted outside the dining room, on the room TV, or on the website. The Maitre-D was arrogant and generally unfriendly, never greeted guests upon entry, and seemed uninterested in making guests feel welcome..When guests stayed too long, the MaitreD would turn the music volume to a high level as a signal to leave, rather than have the waiter say something. This was very rude and insulting. In summation, the dining room experience was very disappointing compared to the many other cruises we have taken, both on Costa and other lines we have been on. The food in the buffet dining option was uninspired and repetitive. The breakfast options were always identical and boring, and lunch and dinner only varied sjightly. In addition, the hours were inadequate. Often we walked around looking for an open buffet station. The formal entertainment in the theater was very good, both in variety and quality. However, the first two rows had signs saying they were reserved for suite guests, yet no announcements or other enforcement was done, so everyone sat there. What is the point of this? The various other events held around the ship were average to poorly done. In summation, the cruise was very disapponting. We have been on almost 20 cruises, and this was the first to leave us feeling this way. Read Less

This was my first experience and will probably be my last due to Costa Favolosa. At first impression, this was a WOW. But the good impression lasted two days only. This ship is very poorly administered and lacks organization. 2,000 people eating at the same time is very hectic. The food was mediocre and not varied at the buffet, same food all week. We were charged for water. I can understand that you have to pay for alcohol/sodas, but water is the essence of life, please, this should be free. So we filled our water bottles at the cafeteria each day. Entertainment at night in the theatre was very good but not enough. We were bored most of the time at night and tried to find some entertainment. The shows were short and not always good. Positive: the room was very clean, and the steward friendly, nice and beautiful ship. Certainly no luxury trip, will never go on Italian cruise line. Read Less

The positive is embarkation was easy...probably too easy. Even though we didn't have all documents to board, got through without any hassles. Nice to leave at 11pm vs 5pm, so more time. First the good....was upgraded from inside to a balcony. Not sure why, but the cabin was the best part of the trip, besides the itinerary. Spacious and large. Sonia our cabin steward was excellent. No issues there. The excursions were excellent....Nassau, Roatan, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and Ocho Rios. A lot of ports for 10 days, so not bored. Food both in dining room and buffet was below average in terms of quality and choice. Very disappointed with food. Most good selections you were charged i.e. steak, lobster, etc. Specialty restaurants also above $25/pp...theirs $35/pp. Also charged for ice cream and pizza. Service was poor in terms of customers service and friendliness in buffet area. They did not say hello or look you in the face...just did their job. When a person complained to lip stick on a cup, told, "Just get another cup". Very surprised on the attitude of people servicing us. Formal dining staff good, Sheryl in particular. To recognize a person working on Costa, their is no mechanism. Maybe that's why they only do "their job" and are not so people friendly. When we asked for conditioner for hair, told you are not in suites, only balcony so not available for you! Poor customer service again. Will not take a Costa ship again.....person who booked for us said like an "European Cruise".....must have hinted at poor service, etc. Other Americans and English speaking passengers were also not pleased with the ship, food, and service. Normally love cruises, but will remember great room and ports with poor food and service.... Read Less

We sailed on Costa Diadema for the New Year's cruise on Europe. The boat is beautiful and huge as well as our cabin very good price, quality value. Nevertheless compared with other cruises we have done with Costa which were in our opinion very good and convenient this one on Costa Diadema was really not good! The service ion the restaurants ADULARIA and Corona Blu were extremely long, about 2 hours and 2,30 hours to have dinner)! The quality of the shows and entertainment team were very poor, not enough activities on board, no hot water or coffee available (everything had to be paid), all passengers were really pushed to consume and to spend as much as possible! No glamour, no magic and a very bad attitude from Costa Cruises. We could tell that the most part of the passengers were very disappointed! And of course on the last morning when you are about to leave the boat and you are charged with fees of 10 € for person and for day for a service that you did not appreciate at all you feel that Costa is really putting his hand on your pocket! The problem is not the crew they just follow orders and they must obey. If this line of exploitation continues to be followed by Costa Cruises I am sure they will lose a lot of clients me included and it is really a pity because they can do much better as they already done before and win money anyway! I chose this cruise for my family because the price was good for a New Year Cruise and my parents had had a great experience on Costa 10 years! Well, they have a different opinion now! They charge for everything! After 10am, you cannot find coffee onboard unless you pay for it! (I have to say the quality of the coffee is excellent). You should see my 72 year old mom rushing from her room in the morning, so she would not have to buy coffee! They serve microwaved food! Its actually written on the menu; There are also items on the general dining room menu that come at a price (no lobster for you, unless you pay for it of course). There is a fresh pizza service by the buffet area, but of course, you have to pay for it. (No children's menu really in the restaurants, certainly no pizza or chicken fingers) Service in the dining room takes forever, the waiters obviously overwhelmed! Even in the paying restaurant we went to for our anniversary, service was very slow and the food disappointing. Room service (food) is just a mess! Lines at the buffet are horrendous! Instructions were not clear on how to get out of the ship one morning at a port! So passengers kept being sent from one exit to the next, until finally one of them took pity on us (we were quite a crowd by then, 25 to 30 passengers) and accompanied us where we needed to go. Our room steward was great and helpful! Dessert was just amazing (the pastry chef had not yet quit obviously). I WILL NOT EVER TAKE COSTA AGAIN! Read Less

Arrived home last night from our Christmas cruise around the Med. The Costa Diadema is a beautiful ship, a pity it isn't owned and run by Celebrity or Royal Caribbean. Our inside cabin, 2269, was comfortable and spacious. Part of the cruise experience is good food, unfortunately not on this ship. The food was awful, the only thing consistent was it's temperature, cold or tepid. The dining room was practically empty, which says a lot. My Christmas Day lunch was hamburger and chips, the evening Gala Dinner menu was mostly variations of fish. Our waiter forgot one course of my meal and then brought me the wrong main meal, when I pointed out it wasn't what I ordered he argued with me. The 26th December we settled down for our meal in the dining room, read the menu and promptly left. We ended up eating buffet food next to the swimming pool, totally over dressed. The food in the buffet was luke warm with the same choices every day, and the waiters slow to clear tables. The entertainment in the theatre was just the crew or ship's dancers, but we did find the groups around the various bars and lounges good. A huge ship but never felt overcrowded as there was plenty of seating area's to choose. We didn't take any ship's own excursions as English was the fifth language to be translated, which tends to grate on your nerves after a day or two. No, never again with Costa, we shall only book with Celebrity or Royal Caribbean in future. So that's Christmas 2016 finished for us and we was so looking forward to it. Read Less

Very disappointing cruise. After a great 2015 Christmas cruise, our 2016 cruise aboard Diaderma was a huge disappointment. Meal times were nothing short of a cattle market. Christmas Eve being the worst meal I've had in a long time. We ate in the Adularia Restaurant which was clearly unable to cater for the number of guests. Queues of frustrated guests trying to get a table. Once we did finally get a table, the meals came out luke warm, some even cold. The delay in between courses sometime approached 1 hour. On one evening after being left for over an hour waiting for dessert, I tried approaching the restaurant manager who clearly didn't want to know and walked away mid conversation! Very poor customer service. Out of 7 nights on board we had one decent meal - and that was when we paid extra for it at the Samsara restaurant. With the exception of the professional dance troop, the evening dancing entertainment was also poor. Second rate tacky music circa 1970/1980. I'm sure Costa can do better - they just missed the mark on this cruise. Read Less

Just came back from my first Costa cruise and comparing with Royal Caribbean, this is definitely way below...Just to summarize: *Bad service overall, worst attitude I've ever seen on a cruise ship. People unhappy, just walking around without a single hello. Had to clean a table many times to sit down, even though employees were close by, they didn't bother. Once, I asked them and they told me "well, we are busy, so it's going to take some time"...no need to say, I did it myself. *Food, just ok *Entertainment, if you offer 11 nights cruises, have a different entertainment for every night. We had to watch 2 times the same shows.... *Unorganized...terrible organization to get out in the ports of call, never on time with the food and opening the restaurants. Dinner never took less than 2 hours and we never ate at the same pace...some where getting second course, as other just receiving the first... The worst part is definitely the food and beverage overall..... Won't cruise again with Costa, that's for sure... Read Less

Front desk personnel were very rude and not helpful at all. I had preordered the drink package and they had no record of it and when I showed them the voucher with the packages they still argued with me saying come back tomorrow. It took 3 trips over 2 days to have our bed changed to 2 single beds. I am definately not a complainer but we were so disappointed. Food was tasteless, Variety was poor, 99% of guests on board did not speak English. The only good things I can say, the room was spacious, the bar and wait staff who served dinner in the dining room were great, also the shows in the theatre were very good. The excursions were also very good, especially the Ziplining and tubing in Belize. Last Christmas we cruised with Holland America and it was wonderful with great food and service. I had ship personnel bump into me as he was avoiding running into someone else and not a word of apology. I would give this cruise a 1 out of a 10. Read Less

Got an excellent price for the three of us in a balcony stateroom, so had to give it a go. Always wanted to try Costa so this seemed like a good opportunity. Our tickets said borading would commence around 1PM so we arrived at the pier at 11:45 so we could check in and be ready to board and head for the sun beds. Instead we spent the day in the terminal. Doors to terminal opened at 1PM, we were checked in by 2PM and boarding commenced around 3PM. We walked across the gangway at approx. 4PM. We received our boarding numbers at check in, but no numbers were called. Awful start to the week. Headed directly to the buffet since we were starved. Italian lunch it said, but was very poor. Meat was dry and tough, pasta was overcooked and it was generally barely edible. We got the first sitting for 6:15 and shared a table with two Danes for the rest of the week. We were five people at a table for eight. That is nice isnt it? We tried to get our own table for Christmas dinner but that wasn’t possible, even though we saw lots of table free. All week, we received poor service in the MDR. Drinks: If we ordered a bottle of wine, the waiter poured the first glass and the sat the bottle at the table, no refills were done. Had to ask for a cooler and ice three times the first night. Had to pour our own water, and if I ordered soda, he placed an un-opened can at the table. I would at least expect him to open it and pour a bit. He was very busy each night having 7 large tables alone with no assisting waiters. Cost cutting big time. Food in the MDR were mostly mediocre with a few good dished, and some times really inedible dishes. Costa does not have any pizza in the buffet, you are forced to pay 6,50 euros for it in the pizzeria. Pizza tastes good but beer was served in plastic glasses. Not very nice. There were constant queues around the ship, and always at least 30 minutes wait time at the pursers desk. Cleanliness of the ship wasnt too good with lots of dust in many many places. The decor of the ship is really tacky too with lots of bright colours. Bar staff were quick but often mixed up orders. Some of the shows were pretty good, others were not so. There wasn’t much else going on around the ship, day or night. We wanted to remove the daily gratuities since we received such poor service. Only Germans and Americans were able to do so. During the week we visited: Cozumel, docked: Did an excursion to Chicen Itza which was pretty good. Belize City, tender: We waited 2,5 hrs for our tender which is insane! Took a city tour which was interesting, then walked around on our own. Roatan, Honduas, docked: Weather was poor so just had a short walk around the tourist village and beach. Grand Cayman, tender: Tender were quicker here, only 1,5 hrs wait time. Expensive shopping, just a quick lunch then back onboard. Overall, Costa did not take good care of us, and we will not recommend Costa to our friends, nor will we probably not book them again. A lot have to change before we may try again, mainly customer service. Read Less

I love cruising through the years and have started young too.Since I have not been onboard any Costa vessels and having read many negative feedback, thought I will give Costa Victoria a try. Oh my, it sure confirmed that it will be my 1st and last cruise with Costa Victoria and will not attempt to try any other vessels within the same family. Isn't cruising supposedly to be filled with fun and laughter with happy crew members working onboard? You will see non at all and even if you do, it is only a handful and really tiny palm size. Service with no smile. You won't even know that there is a Cruise Director onboard who does not appear often enough nor engaging with passengers. Except to say Ciao Ciao..Crew were simply not engaging enough from all levels. Passengers were treated like some invisible beings. Those performances were able to put one to slumber. Older Ship and not very well maintained. Foul smell detected daily in the cabin's shower area.. No idea why. I tried spraying my personal prefume. Shore excursions were charged on the high side. Tenther boat used were old and disembarkment in Melaka was horrifying. Daily buffet counter not varied enough, almost the same daily. Dining area service staff not extremely friendly or alert.. Never have I gone through such a dull cruising experience. I have to agree totally with previous negative points given.. Read Less

Beware this is a rip off! We were looking so forward to our cruise. The embarkation went smoothly and the staff were fine. The ship is very Bolliwood and over the top, with glitz and glamour everywhere. Our cabin was adequate and thankfully we could control the air conditioner in it. You cannot drink the water and no water was provided. The ship was over heated, when getting into the lifts you felt like you were going into a furnace. The Italians and Spaniards were in such a rush to crush into the lifts that they didn't even let you get out first. On a number of occasions we were almost pushed over by rude guests, who gave no thought to anyone else. You have to pay for everything... including water, and pay a gratuity on absolutely everything as well. The food was very mediocre and most of it was cold. Very disappointing. It was most unpleasant having to listen to arguments between the staff while trying to enjoy your dinner. The breakfast buffet was like a cattle market free for all, with pushing in and general bad manners, with hard bread and rolls. Far too many people for such a small buffet. The other problem is that at meal times in the served restaurants, the waiters show you to a different table every night and take no regard as to the nationality of those that they seat or are seated, so it is likely that you will not be able to converse with anyone during the meal because of language difficulties, so instead of it being a pleasant experience it can be quite a drag. The entertainment was so over crowded that it was frustrating. The excursions were all very overpriced. Of the five outings that we had booked before leaving home, four of them were cancelled due to changes made by La Costa. The wifi was expensive, there were two English TV channels in the cabin (BBC news & Aljazeera) and very poor selection of movies to rent. When leaving the ship, they add on a hospitality charge of €10 per day per person and it is taken off your credit card without your permission. This mandatory service charge should be included in basic price to reflect the true cost. I just came back from Western Mediterranean cruise with Costa Diadema. It includes Palma de Mallorca, Civitavecchia / Rome (Italy), La Spezia (Italy), Savona (Italy), Marseille (France) and Barcelona (Spain). Overall it was a good value for the money. But it is hardly impressive, if you have taken other cruises. The main weakness is buffet food and the quality of nightly entertainments: low level and cheap. Lousy singers and dancers, short shows (max 40 min) and not much variety (almost every night is dancing and singing, with rare acrobatics). The buffet is very poorly arranged for the number of guests, so it's a constant struggle to get food. The main dining is very slow, min of 1.5 hours to eat, with small portions. Cruise line tries to rip you off in any way they can, including providing expensive buses from port to city, while not providing any information on what else you could do. The strong points are fairly new beautiful ship and great crew (mainly from Philippines and India). With so many options avilable, I will not choose Costa next time. Read Less

We decided to join South African friends who were sold this cruise through an agent. We were aware of the different languages but as there were 4 of us were not too concerned. We had hoped there would be no children but there were a few under 5's who were impossible (bar 2!) screaming and running up and down corridors in the bar areas and public areas. Entertainment only in Italian, excursions - not long as suggested except Venice and Athens, the rest were half days and very rushed. Booked three and spent more time in the coaches then sightseeing. We went to Agostoli and were coached to a town an hour away which was shut up already for the season except two small shops and had to spend an hour there when we could have spent it in Agostoli itself which had numerous shops open - just one example. Cheaper to get the hop on off bus for 16 euros for two days in Athens then spend it on an excursion in Athens with Costa!!!!! Service staff i.e. restaurant and cabin were excellent, hospitality desk mainly Italian speaking were very abrupt ------ Sorry Costa will not cruise with you again, so disappointed. If not for our friends would have been devastated. No tea making facilities in cabins, no access to tea and coffee unless breakfast and 5 o clock tea time ------ nothing after lunch or dinner!!!! No table water offered unless purchased and so extras added. Know by quite a few of fellow passengers as Costa Plenty!!! Read Less

We have not taken a cruise holiday for several years, with a few weeks notice, we booked a cruise with Costa. This was our first time with this line, however we have used Celebrity, Carnival and Princess Cruises in the past. We arrived by car to Barcelona port, upon arrival, was all a bit confusing on where to go, park, etc. One of Costa officials said, you can park in WTC, show your paperwork to team at the Costa Shuttle bus. So dropped kids off, parked as directed, went to bus and showed paperwork. They said you have to check in first, from whence i just had been sent. After several minutes of pleading, staff said no access to bus....had to walk several miles to terminal in afternoon sun, with some bags. Raised issue at terminal staff, they said tell staff on boat, mentioning they walk sometime...seemed pretty uninterested. Went to reception, who also did not care. Terrible first impression. The positives, ship is clean and well maintained, food good standard but heavily influenced by primary market, so lots of pasta etc. Cabin was good for family, some of shows were high quality. Negatives - Customer service very poor, technology very poor ( on demand movies kept crashing 20 minutes into film, this happened three times), meter on internet usage into overdrive, view few web pages 100mb...cost a fortune in end..guest services calls...often waiting 15 minutes for answer, when you go to desk...staff seem unable to take any ownership of your problems. Very little info and organisation very unclear for trips, timings, etc. We will not be cruising with Costa again. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we wanted to try a whole new destination for us. The cruise started in Port Louis, Mauritius and went on to Seychelles, Madagascar and Reunion before returning to Mauritius. Things started off well when we saw the large cabin, but things went rapidly downwards when the cruise started. I'll start with the worst: The food. Every day, it's the same sad story. And it doesn't matter where you go. The "formal" restaurant on deck 8 serves the same food as the buffet on deck 10, only they bring it to your table and it's more aesthetically pleasing. We tried the "pay-Pizza restaurant" on deck 11. This pizza had less taste than the frozen pizza you buy at home for €3, so it was slightly better than the shameful thing they served in the complimentary restaurants. The "soup of the day" was occasionally decent. The free water often had a strong taste of chlorine. (I found that the water on deck 11 often was better). Service: Most of the staff are friendly and helpful, but when it comes to issues regarding money they turn quickly. If you paid for internet and it didn't work, don't go to the reception because they will only trash you for asking for your money back. It's a problem with the signal, not the ship. Entertainment: Well.. what can I say. It was poor. Very poor compared to what we got used to with Royal Caribbean. It was entertainment, but as long as someone takes their job seriously I don't know if it can possibly be worse than the entertainment on board that ship. The female singer(s) was unable to pronounce any words in English (but all singers has decent voices - however that's a minimum) The dancers knew how to more but the choreography was off off off. The songs the singers had to sing were mostly boring and dull, and there was no good or logical pattern in the shows. Activities: Didn't care to join as most of them were about dancing like animals, play some obscure variant of volleyball or learning how to dance. I hoped to play chess in the library, but when I came for the scheduled time for that event, there was no staff there to even unlock the locker where they had the chess board. Excursions: Costa is limited to what the visited places has to offer, and it was ok. We went on boat/hiking/beach excursions and they were all good experiences. Sum it up: Horrible food. It's disrespectful towards the Italian kitchen which I'm quite a fan of. Bad entertainment and activities. Decent service (as long as it's not about getting money back) and a nice cabin. I would recommend my friends and family to stay FAR AWAY from Costa. Read Less

The ship is old and only *** Embarcation in Shanghai: chaos, it took 3 hours from the scheduled time, only few persons got some water. Our cabin outside classic was small. Toilet facilities in public spaces: unsanitary For many situations that do not work. The information in loudspeakers deficient, special in critical situations as in the embarcation and when the comming tyfon is a reality. Entertainment in the theater was good, but in the pool area was not varied enough. The food was good at all restaurants. They did not give us enough time on the excursions. Disembarkation: it took 2 hours from the ship to the terminal in Singapore. Chaos in the disembarkation terminal. I lost my suitcase in that chaos, which I suspect approaching organized chrime, which Costa Cruise neglect. I do not want to spend more time to talk about the cruise. Only: never, never ever Costa Cruise Read Less

This was our 24 th cruise and our second with Costa. The frist being many years ago and it was our second cruise ever. I've never written a review for the other cruises, but I felt compelled to do so this time , wishing to help inform other travelers about my expencience. Hard earned money and vacation time should not be wasted ,the selection of cruising with Costa , well I would advise people to do their homework before selecting Costa. I wittiness many things on this cruise that I have never seen before and perhaps what most stood out was the attitude of most of the crew and senior officers. Of course there were some members of the crew that did a great job, but they were the minority. Arrogance, bad attitude, lack of respect and un Professionalism was the norm. it's hard to pinpoint why this type of culture exits onboard, but perhaps one factor is now that gratuities are mandatory in the form of a per person amount daily, called a hotel service charge and no longer can it be removed from your account. ( gratuities always existed in some form,) what is different , you no longer can , as many passengers prefer to give their gratuities in an envelope directly to the people who served them during the cruise and I am sure that not all have given what was expected, therefore cruise company's are developing other ways to guarantee the crew members receive the amount requested.) I understand their predicament, but this has led to an unbelievable attitude on board. It seems that most of the crew have developed an attitude, we don't have to earn our gratuities , so if I'm arrogant, rude ,tell people to get out of my way, run them over ,throw things around and could not careless about any form of customer service, it doesn't matter, I will still receive my money anyway. Our room was the worst I ever seen, 5-6 feet of a soaken wet carpet in front of the bathroom for the entire cruise. Despite maintenance coming serval times it was never fixed, they gave extras towels to put on the floor and a fruit basket with their apologizes wow This ship is extremely ordinary and Poorly run, I would not recommend it to anyone, there is much more available out there for your money, chose wisely, cruising is a great way to travel- but never again with COSTA . We are a retired couple and chose this cruise because of the ports it called at - bad choice of ship. The embarkation in Venice was awful with everybody pushing and shoving to get on first. The ship was okay but the public toilets on Deck 2 were disgusting - some were always blocked and out of order. We had a balcony cabin at the back of the ship which was excellent as there was no 'through traffic' needing to pass it to get to lifts etc - probably the highlight of the cruise!. The breakfast was good with eggs cooked fresh to your liking if required. Lunch was a buffet - the menu didn't change much but there was variety and you could always find something to eat. Dinner - the menu never changed - vegetable soup every day and the same mains (changed slightly one day). Desert was really the only thing that change dramatically. Entertainment was 2nd rate. Service - our Cabin Steward, Drink waiter in one of the bars and the 2 waiters who served us at dinner were excellent - they were from the South West Pacific Region and are renowned for good customer service. The Tour Desk staff were extremely rude and the Reception Desk were not much better. Ports - we did not participate in any excursions and did our own thing like many people. The Tour Desk were reluctant to give out general information about each port as they, of course, wanted you to purchase tours. At the last minute they advertised Shuttle Buses at various ports to take people into the main town area which was more than enough and at a reasonable cost - this we did. On boarding the ship at Katakolon, Greece (after a day in port) we were having dinner (1st sitting) when there was an announcement that all guests and crew were required to go to their Muster Station without life jackets (no reason given). We stood there for 45 minutes with people running around like mad people. It appears the security system had failed on people coming back to the ship and Costa didn't know who was on and who didn't get on, with the possibility there could have been somebody on that shouldn't have been. Eventually it was sorted but a little concerting to all. We would never travel Costa again and were ready to get off the ship on the 2nd day into the cruise. Overall we were very disappointed and felt we had wasted our money. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the ports some of which we had not been to. We sailed from Venice to Trieste, Split, Dubrovnik, Katakalon, Corfu and Kator. We had previously been on 30 cruises, 4 of which were Costa which were prior to Carnival buying them. The food was OK, not great as it used to be. The entertainment was only great when they did the production shows which was only twice, but the late show Abba was terrific. That should have been done as a main show! The ship itself was nice with pools and public areas, and we did enjoy the itinerary, except that the weather prevented us from the stop in Katakalon. The main problem was the services. They set us up on Internet by the minute and started charging for the time they were setting up logging in and out on mine and leaving my husband's on till we found out it was logged in for an hour. We changed right away to the 25 euros for 250 mg, but it took them till the night before we were back in Venice to remove the original incorrect charges. The reception desk and room service didn't pick up the phone, having me run around looking for someone to bring an extra pillow. After 1 1/2 hours I went down to reception and yelled finally getting them to send one. The cabin stewart later told us he removes the pillow from the 3rd berth. He also neglected to bring ice after repeated reminders. At the buffet breakfast and lunches the only ones coming to the tables were to sell drinks, not to clean off the tables. They had to be asked to. A Costa Cruise is not for Americans. There are only a few English speaking people who go on a Costa cruise, mostly Italians, but there were a number of French speaking passengers. Although there were only a few English speaking passengers on our last Costa cruise on the Costa Romantica, they treated us nicely. Mostly due to the service issues, we will never go on another Costa cruise again! By the way, it doesn't matter how many Costa Cruises you have been on, if you haven't cruised with them in the last 2 years it's considered your first cruise with them. Read Less
