We had heard positive reports of the Celebrity cruises and we wanted to go to the Caribbean for Christmas so when we saw this cruise advertised through Planet Cruises we decided to book.
The positives:
Nice, roomy cabin, very clean. Good service from cabin staff.
Good choice of food in both restaurants although not always piping hot in the buffet restaurant
Lovely pools and plenty ...
We usually try to go on a new itinerary each time as such we decided to go on this cruise around Cape Horn. Transfer to Valparaiso and boarding was a breeze. As the passengers not from the US markets do not get the luggage tags with glue, only print the ones you staple together, one of the tags got off the suit case after we dropped it off and it was a real hassle to get this suite case ...
We went over Christmas and Chanukah. And the ship staff and crew did a great job of recognizing both. Celebrating Chanukah the ship prepared Latkes and sufganiots each night along with Manachevitz wine, and even provided a Rabi for nightly services.Very nice touch ! Entertainment and food was very diverse with new shows every night. We even had a Demi Lovato show on shore on St Marteen. What a ...
Being loyal Princess cruisers we wanted to experience the "Celebrity Difference" for ourselves. I was simply amazed at the level of service for this "Christmas" cruise. The embarkation was easy and the methodology of check-in was good. The Miami local staff is much different from the ship crew and the Reflection service staff. The levels of service are different as the shore crew are Miami people ...
This was our second Celebrity cruise, we sailed on Silhouette (the same route) earlier this year. Loved it so much we came back for more.
The entire experience is exceptional. From the check in to departure, everything is seamless and handled with elegance, efficiency, and excellence.
The Holidays Experience
The ship was decorated beautifully for the holiday season. Although, we did feel ...
Primarily decided upon this cruise due to the itinerary as it stopped at 5 different Caribbean Islands that both myself and sister wanted to go to; Barbados, St Lucia, St Marteen, St Kitts and St Thomas.
Acceptable points:
1. Larger cabins that Royal Caribbean cruise ships
2. Nice and friendly cabin boy
3. Best place on the ship - outdoor cinema (except during the rain of course) ...
This is my 4th cruise, my 4th with Celebrity, the 2nd one at Christmas and, for the first time, I was disappointed. The room was shabby - see below - and the dining room food was just about ok, although the service was great - even if a bit too obviously chasing good ratings at the end of it! The buffet had little variety during the day and became very repetitive. Lots of - lovely - Indian ...
We've done about 8 Celebrity cruises since 1997 and this was the first time I've done a holiday cruise and first time on the Reflection. This may sound snobby, but Celebrity tends to draw a more "sophisticated crowd" and because they claim "modern luxury", I look for refined service and food.
Lot's of "hits" a few "misses" and a few- needs improvements.
We've cruised on this line a while ...
Although they say they gave Summit an update in March 2016, I certainly didn't see it and was disappointed how aged and shabby it is looking. I have sailed other Celebrity vessels and must say Summit was the poorest I have been on. Staff seemed worn and tired, crew had very little engagement, service was 4/5 for the most part, food was 3.5/5, and entertainment was 4/5. BUT for a Christmas ...
The cruise was full of the holiday crowd. It is good to have our balcony cabin for quiet time. The library and Sky lounge are also not as crowded as the pool and sun decks.
Pros:
The ship is well cared for by the friendly cabin and general crew.
The quality of food is excellent. There is ice cream, lemonade, coffee/tea, and snacks available most of the day.
Live entertainment is ...
