If you are used to the fine food that is served in the main restaurants aboard cruise ships or even river cruises such as on the Douro or Nile then you could be in for a nasty surprise with A-Rosa. It is not much above that of motorway services or cross channel ferry fare. On our last night it did improve markedly but up till then it was very basic.
The house wine is awful plonk reminiscent of ...
An interesting itinerary visiting some small Normandy towns not usually on the agenda. Docking right in the centre means you're just a few minutes easy walk and don't lose time getting into town. Whilst the Paris berth at the Quai de St Ouen in St Denis is not in the middle of Paris, there's a Metro station about 10 minutes walk away with a direct line to the city centre and just a single change ...
We selected this cruise because the date was right. We selected this cruise, as well, based upon our tourism company´s recommendation.
It was a relaxing and quite nice cruise up the Rhine. Included some cities we had visited by car as well as other locations we had not been to.
The room service was quite wonderful. The fellow who had been assigned to our section of rooms spoke far better ...
I am on the last night of the Seine cruise and I'm so sorry to have it end. A ship that met all my expectations, a friendly crew, good food, enchanting small French towns: who could ask for more?I can hardly wait to rebook this cruise.
Embarkation was a snap. The cabin was small but the floor to ceiling windows on the Juliette balcony made the room seem larger. Nice touches like a table that ...
Unfortunately we booked the trip not knowing tha we were 16 ofuk couples the rest bein German, not a problem, but we felt quite isolated, all of the ships announcements were in German, followed by occasionaly with a short comment in English .The food was terrible nearly always warm or cold and very difficult to guess what it was,as most of the time it wasn’t described or labelled,The crew were rude ...
We took advantage of a special offer via Imagine Cruising a company we use and trust for this river cruise. We arrived at Lyon and boarded quickly and were very pleased at our cabin which was spotless and very welcoming with nice decor etc.We enjoyed the pleasant public areas and especially the sun deck with good seating and a lovely shaded area with also small but well presented pool to cool off ...
Having been on 3 other river cruises, we found one that went down the Rhone, which we had not gone on before. The Rosa Stella is about 12 years old, but extremely well kept and very clean. In fact it is the cleanest cruise ship we've ever been on. Our cabin was a decent size - not large but well appointed and the beds were comfortable. We had a French balcony, meaning you could open the doors ...
Was it good? No. Was it bad? No. I need to make it clear from the outset that to some extent we were comparing this cruise to our only other river cruise, which was on Scenic. So business class to economy is probably the best explanation I can provide. Similar price differential.
Viva departs from St Denis, which is more than 5 miles from the city centre of Paris. It shares a wharf with a ...
We were a family of six non-German speakers including two kids who had a very relaxing time on this trip.
The itinerary was supposed to be south to Switzerland but when we boarded we found out, because of water levels, the boat would be going north. This was disappointing as members of our party had recently been to the cities to the north and we had specifically wanted to see the Alps and ...
Went on the cruise because it fit our timeframe and part of group had free cruise because last years cruise couldn't move because of high water and they were given another cruise for free.
Only two groups of Americans on the cruise 11 people--they are not prepared for English speakers very well at all. We had to ask for all news and daily stops and maps in English. They were not automatically ...
