This is our third Cunard cruise, but like the furnishings in our cabin, the experience is wearing a bit thin and tired. While the day lectures offered were good, the nighttime theatre entertainment was merely glossy and without depth. Could something other than modern pop style music be presented? Meals and service were generally ok, as delivered by the hard working crew. But the LIdo buffet ...
Having completed a 25 day cruise on Cunard Queen Victoria in 2017, the differences between now and then are stark, and that's not in a good way.
The Food:
1. Duck is now chicken.
2. Buffet has country of origin theme nights, which means the chicken cooked in a slightly different way, or with a different spice.
3. Desert is a variation on moose, with flavours cycled through the ...
Because of lack of maintenance during Cuvard, the ship's hull had not been de-fouled to the satisfaction of the New Zealand authorities and thus not being able to enter a number of ports including Milford Sound, the number one cruise attraction for New Zealand. The deception was the fact the Cunard did not advise passengers of this in order for passengers to consider alternatives. Compensation ...
We chose this cruise to see if Cunard would fit us and what we like about cruising. Firstly The ship was in very good condition and our balcony cabin was fine. We found that the passenger mix was fairly wide ranging and everyone was very polite and friendly. That is except for a few crew members. We have sailed on almost 100 cruises ranging from 3 star to 5 star and only once before had I ...
We chose this cruise in order to experience Christmas,New Years and significant birthday at at sea. There were several highlights on the Queen Elizabeth; the food in the main dining room was excellent, our shoulder cabin and balcony seemed vast, and some of the guest speakers were excellent (Dr Richard Harris, Australian of the Year, gave a wonderful presentation about his role in the Thai cave ...
After a great cruise on the Queen Mary in 2017 we had great Expectations of First Class service on Queen Elizabeth in March 2019.
Our cruise from Melbourne started poorly with a Cunard Computer glitch at the Port check in causing long delays. In fact as we boarded the crew were in their life jackets directing all passengers to their muster stations for our safety drill. Obviously they were ...
We have travelled on Queen Elizabeth previously and had a wonderful time. We flew to Melbourne to join the ship at our allotted time of 12.00 only to be told you can’t board until after 2.00 pm come back later. They did take our luggage and manage to lose 1 piece. We eventually got to our cabin at 3.45 pm after much queuing. People were passing out in the heat in the lines. Very poor.
The food ...
Just completed the Melb-NZ cruise 18-30 March 19. Seemed like a good way to see a little of NZ in comfort.
Massive delays and chaos at boarding in Melbourne.
Burst water main leaving cabins without water until 9:30 AM one day. Casino flooded and smelling.
Long queues for shuttle bus into Dunedin with USD 8 charge each way.
Long queue for tender from ship to Akaroa even at 11:00AM. ...
We chose a 3 night Sydney - Burnie - Melbourne cruise as a sampler and introduction to Cunard cruising.
Embarkation was reasonably painless. We arrived a little earlier than the allocated boarding time and was told to board anyway. We dropped off bags, queued for about 15 minutes and then found ourselves on-board. Finding our cabin was easy as we were escorted by our cabin steward who did a ...
I thought the Queen Mary would be a luxury cruise. It was not! The food was terrible. Yes, it was fresh, but certainly not restaurant quality. It was VERY English! Thick gravy with everything. The toast for breakfast was uneatable. I requested sourdough or a think a toast slice of wholemeal... neither were available. The fruit was boring. There were no berries, no mango's, no paw paw and ...
