Disclaimers: First, I believe there is a cruise line for everyone. Second, I have cruised the Mediterranean before (June 2023). Third, I typically sail on Holland America.
I simply did not enjoy this cruise experience. There were multiple things I did not like but understand they may just be annoyances to me. There were a few standouts of things that were really good.

Just completed 11 day European cruise (Spain, Italy, France) on NCL Epic, with three overnight stays- Barcelona, Rome, Livorno. The itinerary was good and the overnight stays were great. However, NCL is a very substandard cruise line and the Epic is also a substandard ship compared with any other we have been on. I just returned from a 12 day med cruise on the Norwegian Epic and sadly it looks it age. It’s definitely in need of a fresh look and update. Most disappointing of all is the odd bathroom design of separate sink/shower/toilet adjacent to the front cabin door with zero privacy. We choose a nice cruise from Savona around the Mediterranian Sea.
But very bad service, unfriendly crew and bar members at the pool area and also in the main restaurant.
At a White Party Night, waiters going around with a trolley and want to sell you "White Sangria", you have to pay fot it extra. 6 Euro for a glass of Sangria !!
French fries / burgers after 5 pm also for extra paying ...

Just returned from a 7-night Mediterranean cruise (started from Marseille, FRANCE) - 2 adults/2 young kids
Pros:
- Ship is modern and well designed
- Deluxe Balcony room was a positive surprise and we enjoyed the room a lot (size and shape)

We decided to try the Costa Smerelda due to two reasons. Firstly it was only a few months old when we sailed (turned out three weeks due to the delay in sailing) and also the price. It was under £350.00 for a balcony cabin and easy jet had cheap flights.

My husband and I chose this cruise as it covered the Med, Suez, Petra and Ports in the Middle East.
