Was traveling with a group of 16 family members on Mariner of the Seas over Christmas. This was my 6th cruise and 3rd cruise with RCL, twice with Celebrity and once with Disney. I was looking forward to cruising on Mariner since it appeared to offer a good variety of amenities on board and included a stop at Coco Cay. In general we had some good experiences, highlights included Coco Cay (even ...

I give the cruise an overall 4 so most of what I did not like may be considered nit-picking. First the good. The Galveston embarkation process is not bad if you are gold club member or higher. Non-club members had long wait and most people did not look happy. Loved the Lumani River tour in Belize, zip lining in Honduras and Senor Frogs in Cozumel. Staff was great and our Junior Suite was ...

We left Seatac and arrived the day before our cruise. Being new to this whole process I wanted to make sure that there were no delays getting to the ship. We arrived in Houston and stayed at the Holiday Inn near the airport. Nice hotel, staff were very friendly, the room had updated decor and was clean. There were a lot of people in the lobby that day because of a cruise line that was delayed ...

A short review because 1) it's been awhile & 2) We've already taken a second cruise on the Mariner. Disembarkation: Port Canaveral is a GREAT port. It's easy to navigate the town. The Orlando Airport to the Port area and hotels was a simple drive and there are Wal-Mart, inexpensive gas stations, restaurants, and stores are nearby and easy to access. The pier across from the port itself has ...

Caribbean Christmas Cruise, Dec 21 - 28, 2008

1. General Comments: A pleasant cruise and an experiment for us to see what it is like to travel on one of these "monster" ships. This was our tenth cruise and our third with Royal Caribbean (RCL). This was a Christmas cruise and the ship was full: about 3,500 passengers, including over 1,000 non-US citizens, and 1,500 crew. There were loads of families with ages from infants to very senior ...

My 85 year old mother and I set sail on December 21, 2008 on the Mariner of the Seas. What a beautiful, elegant ship! The service was top notch. Everyone was falling over themselves to take care of us. Our Promenade cabin was lovely. The view from the large window was great. It felt like looking down on a busy street. We ate in the Rhapsody in Blue dining room for all our meals, except for hitting ...

Mariner of the Seas - Thanksgiving Cruise November 23-30, 2008 Here's my review of our recent cruise. Please note that the author (me) can at times be sarcastic, please take some of my comments with "tongue in cheek". Saturday, November 22, 2008 Our flight left Chicago O'Hare Airport on time and arrived early in Orlando. We picked up a rental car for a one-way rental from Avis and were on ...

Pre-cruise we stayed Friday night Nov 7 in Ormond Beach at the Best Western Castillo del Sol after having a very good late lunch at the South Beach Grill in Crescent Beach. The hotel was an older property which had recently undergone a renovation. The rooms were clean, staff friendly, rates very good, and views fantastic. Saturday 11-8 We checked out early, ate a quick breakfast at the ...

My DW and I just returned from another wonder cruise on The Mariner of The Seas. We are retired and live in central Florida. EMBARKATION: Arrived at the port about 10:45am. by bus provided by our T A. Had to wait for about 30 minutes before the check in lines were open. Check In was fast and painless; boarding was pretty quick once we got through the photo line. Had lunch at Windjammer and ...

Diverted Mariner Cruise (due to Hurricane)

We have sailed several times on several ships and it's hard not to compare one vs. another. I will try to list the highlights and areas where I felt there could be improvement. We arrived in Orlando and stayed at the Doubletree Hotel in Cocoa Beach. It was a nice hotel right on the ocean. We returned our car the next day and used the car rental shuttle to get to the port. Embarkation ...
