Going on a Panama Canal cruise from Miami to Lima Peru was on our bucket list. The itinerary was terrific. The boat is old and needs renovation to to bottom. Unfortunately, we are on this tub again in June from Lisbon to Oslo for 23 days. The scheduled renovations will only touch the Penthouses and common areas, not the balcony staterooms. We were lied to about this from several sources onboard. ...
Looking for a three-fer: Machu Picchu, Panama Canal, and Chichen Itza, BUT
1. Turmoil in Peru - no Pre cruise visits
2. Canal - cool; bucket list, but poor excursions
3. Railroad repairs blocking roads, no Big Mayan event.
1 of 3 done.
Cabin and floor crew - outstanding - 10 floor
Dining - good specialties, fair grand dining room; Terrace - just no.
Food availability limited - ...
Marina is a 10+ year old ship that looks her age, Decor is dark, halls are dimly lit. You can see signs of rust, large dents on the ships side, and the ship was due for refit in 2022 and then postponed to 2023 and again until 2024. This obviously is due to NCLs tightening the budget. Several crew members complained about issues with kitchen, dishwashers etc that are showing their age. Ship ...
We are extensively experienced travelers in our late 60's and chose this 51 night cruise for the itinerary. I should say this is our second experience with an extended cruise on Oceania this year. Our previous cruise on Insignia was spring of 2022 and I did post a review afterwards. We almost cancelled this cruise due to the Insignia experience but were more forgiving due to restart issues. At ...
We have been on over 40 cruises throughout the years. We cruise on all cruise lines including Crystal, Princess, Holland America, and Celebrity; depending on our schedules. We took this cruise because of the reasonably good itinerary, but, sadly this cruse was a disappointment mainly because of the ship.
The major disappointment was the food. ( There were a few bright spots, like the soup ...
I was very disappointed with this cruise after having a wonderful experience on the Nautica last January on a cruise from South Africa. I found the entertainment average, although the staff entertainment was very good. The shore excursions were very poor. The guides were good, but I found none of the sites at all interesting. At the excursion in Cozumel they put us on a bus for a tour of the ...
My spouse and I are experienced cruisers. On this voyage we sailed from Lima,Peru to NYC via the Panama Canal. The trip was adversely impacted by an outbreak of gastrointestinal illness(probably Norovirus) which can't be blamed on Oceana. However, their response was a disaster. Numerous activities were curtailed or canceled, and venues closed, even those unrelated to food or bathroom services, ...
We wanted to try a new line (we've cruised more than 20 times on Celebrity/Azamara) and Oceania had a cruise from French Polynesia to Peru. The selling point was a stop at Easter Island and then a post-tour of Machu Picchu.
The ship itself was good. Our suite was spacious. The food was excellent in the specialty restaurants, average in the main dining area.
Entertainment was hit and miss. ...
Had been with Oceania in 2011 and thoroughly enjoyed it. That cruise was a comfortable, fairly sophisticated experience, and was always was keen to repeat the experience.
The company brochure is now really misleading. It shows elegant well dressed people, where in actual fact on this trip the majority of people were dressed in baseball caps, T shirts and dad trainers. We are in out late 60's ...
We chose the cruise for the itinerary and the fact that we had been on the Mariner before and had liked it. This time however we were sorely disappointed. The captain seemed to have difficulty communicating with the passengers and any major announcements were handled by the cruise director. There was no warning that we would be without internet or communication the last half of the cruise. The ...
