Like another reviewer on Discovery 2. We have been cruising with Thomson/Tui for many years and agree with everything they have said. Celebration was our favourite ship until Discovery came and then we saw how tired Celebration looked. Our first cruise on Discovery was really good ;we were really impressed so we booked another. There were 2 years between the cruises. We were shocked how tired it ...
Having been on this ship before when she was Legend of the Seas (Royal Caribbean), I was interested to see what the changes were. It was like night and day!
In the main restaurant the meals were not of a good standard and service was not good. We often had to ask for things like black pepper and tea and coffee. I got the impression that they were just rushing everyone to get out as soon as ...
I have been on several cruises. and this one was ok .. but that pretty much sums it up . it was ok...the ship itself although old . is still a beautiful ship.easy to navigate. plenty of restaurants .plenty or bars . they do get quite crowded though and it becomes impossible to find a seat . food was average we ate in the buffet mostly . but did go to the pizza and hot stone restaurant too. snack ...
Been on Thomson cruises previously and enjoyed the experience the Discovery 2 was to us different value from other Thomson Cruises the ship was clean beds comfortable but most times around the ship was loud music which although i do enjoy music was not at all necessary all of the time.Having previously enjoyed thomsons there seemed to be a bit of a sea change on board discovery2 although it was ...
Our first & sadly our last cruise with Thomsons. We have cruised several times with a range of companies & had received lots of positive feedback about Thomsons "newer" ships so we were looking forward to our break. Unfortunately the ship is tired & many areas e.g Buffet, Live Room cannot accommodate the number of guests. We booked a de-luxe balcony & although the bathroom had been refurbished ...
Have explained in cabin review all about the service, entertainment, resturants, food etc.
staff excellent very helpful and very friendly, the top dining resturants were booked out before we sailed, the entertainment overall was very average, the casino was way to small, the closing times were to early and the late 2am dj lounge deck 11 was over crowded, the late night snack at the islands restaurant ...
We chose this cruise as it was the newest of the TUI Ships. We are elderly aged 68 and 78 and slightly disabled. We had assistance at the airport, but struggled to get to the coach going to the port. The ship was medium-sized not quite up to P & O standard. We chose a de-luxe balcony cabin on deck 7. Everything was spotless. Bathroom was new-looking but the step up into it was a bit difficult. ...
Let me start by saying that this was my first cruise so maybe the points that I did not enjoy are standard on these kinds of holiday. If you are 60+, then you will likely enjoy this cruise.
We went on the TUI Discovery 2 primarily to spread the ashes of my mother in law as per her wishes. Before I go on, I have to say that they were fantastic with assisting us. Elanor helped us out greatly and ...
Short break, booked via cruise.co.uk, (always use these as they get great prices for me). Went for this cruise because it was a great price, on an old Royal Caribbean ship which was rebranded and it was - ahem - "all inclusive". We flew Monarch airways, they were great and got to Malaga airport after a good flight. Unfortunately, TUI staff at Malaga airport were, quite frankly, offhand, ...
The Discovery 2 is a nice ship and the food and drink is great.
The entertainment was not good by comparison to the entertainment on the Dream in March. There were a couple of themed plays for example, Charlie Chaplin and Simon and Garfunkel which did not have any sparkle and failed to flow.
The singing voices of the team were weak apart from a couple of the team.
When the assistant ...
