We chose this cruise as it was the newest of the TUI Ships. We are elderly aged 68 and 78 and slightly disabled. We had assistance at the airport, but struggled to get to the coach going to the port. The ship was medium-sized not quite up to P & O standard. We chose a de-luxe balcony cabin on deck 7. Everything was spotless. Bathroom was new-looking but the step up into it was a bit difficult. ...
To start we cruised on Discovery in June and enjoyed it so much we decided to book another cruise on Discovery 2. There were some differences between the 2 ships but we loved both cruising experiences.
Firstly, the organizational skills of the TUI crew at the Malaga Airport was exceptional – this was a vast improvement on our experience with the crew at Palma Airport. It could not have gone ...
Dreadful cruise.
The ship is "tired" despite a refurbishment.
Cabins very dated - our Superior Balcony Room had an updated Bathroom, but rest of the cabin was quite tatty. Cleaning not that sparkling either, balcony table stained when we arrived and still stained when we left.
Quality of food was disappointing, especially in the Gallery 47 & 47 Restaurants. Buffet lunch OK in "Islands", ...
I sailed on the Iberian Treasures and Spanish Sunsets cruises with other family members. Embarkation, disembarkation and flights were all smooth and well organised.
I stayed in a single inside cabin, which was spacious with plenty of storage space. My cabin stewardess was great and kept it really clean and tidy.
To cover other points in turn
Food:
We always ate Breakfast in Islands and ...
The crew were unfailingly nice and attentive, not a single person who wouldn't smile and say hello, even the odd mechanic or engineering worker who I bumped into.
I am aware staff on cruises work really hard but I think Thomson have a reputation for treating them better than some other cruise lines. I'm an HR Manager so I tend to automatically look for the cracks, what do you have to do to get ...
The check in process was very quick and we were on board the ship very quickly. Our cases were taken onboard for us and were waiting outside our cabin for us.
The Atlantic ocean for the first 2 days was very windy and rough and not that enjoyable and I was actually cold. You couldn't actually sit up on the deck as it was too windy and all the sun beds blew away. I had to take sea sickness pills ...
To say I was a bit apprehensive about going it alone is an understatement but it was the best experience ever! I flew from Glasgow with Easyjet. The flight was 30 minutes late leaving but made up the time en route. Arrived in Malaga, through passport control and collected my luggage in jig time. There were plenty of Thomson reps at the airport to guide me to the coach. Journey to the port took ...
Brilliant holiday made all the better by good food excellant and friendly staff in all departments including entertainment (which on other cruises we have been on has been hit and miss). A special mention has to go to Captain Chris and the cruise director who were so friendly and worked so well together which made it so funny and enjoyable for all the guests.
The all inclusive drinks package ...
25th wedding Anniversary so we though we would do something different. Chose the Vigo/Porto/Lisbon/Cadiz/Gibraltar. The Atlantic bit to Portugal very windy and rough but luckily we didn't get seasick! We paid extra to have a balcony cabin which was still tiny but glad we had a bit more room than other cabins. Although the lady (Baby) who cleaned obviously only gave the room a lick and a promise as ...
Firstly this is our 14th Thomson Cruise, but our first on the new type of Thomson ship (Discovery 1 or 2) and we were excited to see how the new generation of ship had changed. First impressions were excellent, the ships interior was very impressive and our deck six balcony cabin was clean, contemporary and had more than enough space. The balcony had a small table and two chairs, more than enough ...
