Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Marella Discovery

Like another reviewer on Discovery 2. We have been cruising with Thomson/Tui for many years and agree with everything they have said. Celebration was our favourite ship until Discovery came and then we saw how tired Celebration looked. Our first cruise on Discovery was really good ;we were really impressed so we booked another. There were 2 years between the cruises. We were shocked how tired it ...

Great holiday. BUT.

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Norwegian Spirit

We really liked the ship, BUT it is in need of an up date. The cabin was rather poor. Only one bedside table, the other side had a standard lamp ? Very strange. Carpet was dirty and vanity table was broken The food was good, staff was lovely. BUT this ship is to small for the Atlantic and it was a very bumpy ride, with sea sick bags placed on very floor. We had a drinks package, BUT got ...

We had never sailed with NCL and saw this cruise from Barcelona which included a drinks package. Never had one of those either but we soon got into the swing of things, too much gin ! We stayed in Barcelona for 2 days prior to sailing and it was raing when we arrived, this set the tone of things for the whole holiday. We had two sunny days, Madeira and Malaga, the rest were cold and ...

Christmas and New Years on the Spirit

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Norwegian Spirit

We were looking for a holiday getaway and love NCL and this fit the bill. We really liked that they added a extra embarkation port in Malaga. There was no line, we just dropped off our bags and walked on. The ports of call were great with exception of Casablanca, if there is a need to go to Morocco I would much have preferred Agadir. This is an older mid sized ship that has been well maintained ...

Senior/family cruise

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Norwegian Spirit

This was a last minute booking due to family circumstances which in truth limited our choice of cruise. However, we have now cruised with NCL five times and since our first cruise with NCL 24 years ago we have noted a marked decline in standards and quality. This time my wife and I cruised with my brother and sister-in-law and both of them reflect our views on standards and quality. The reason we ...

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on SeaDream I

This has been our third Transatlantic crossing (Malaga to Barbados) all on Seadream1 and it’s been the best. We are still on board and I must say that our experience has been a lot better than one comment already posted. The sea from Malaga to Madeira was a bit choppy, but they were still able to serve dinner on the rear outside upstairs decks, so there was no rocking and rolling. We are ...

Surpisingly good.

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Marella Discovery 2

Thought we would try Discovery 2 as it is an ex Royal Caribbean ship. They had great crew, seemed really happy, which is always a bonus. Plenty of time in the ports of call. The only thing we didn't like was the casino as this is always a fun part of a cruise. In this case it was far too small with only one crowded roulette table and dull electronic slot machines. Other than that we had a ...

Not wonderful

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Marella Discovery 2

Having been on this ship before when she was Legend of the Seas (Royal Caribbean), I was interested to see what the changes were. It was like night and day! In the main restaurant the meals were not of a good standard and service was not good. We often had to ask for things like black pepper and tea and coffee. I got the impression that they were just rushing everyone to get out as soon as ...

I have been on several cruises. and this one was ok .. but that pretty much sums it up . it was ok...the ship itself although old . is still a beautiful ship.easy to navigate. plenty of restaurants .plenty or bars . they do get quite crowded though and it becomes impossible to find a seat . food was average we ate in the buffet mostly . but did go to the pizza and hot stone restaurant too. snack ...
