I read about cruises for more than 20 years. Royal Caribbean seemed to be the cruiseline that caught my attention the most. Instinct said I should take a 3 night Caribbean cruise out of Florida. i only found one leaving late March; Royal Caribbean Majesty of the Seas. Royal was good about identifying required ID for my wife and I. i would need my driver's license and certified birth certificate copy. My wife would need a copy of our marriage certificate to explain why the name on her birth certificate does not match that of her license We passed through customs with ease. The schedule of activities printed in Compass was very helpful in planning. ai especially liked the live comedy and music performances that happened every night. The pool had lie music and movies. Nice touch. My favorite spot became Viking Crown Lounge at the highest point of the ship. Glass exterior with comfy furniture. Bar. Quiet. TVs showed sports but with sound off. The only other people there seemed to want peace too. Read Less

Majesty of the Seas (Majesty) was in dry dock for the month of February 2018. We enjoyed the new features that were added: our junior suite had new beds, furniture, curtains and bath enclosure. We also noticed new indoor/outdoor carpeting on Deck 12. I am sure there were many other enhancements that were not as noticeable below deck (engine room and toilet system). Majesty uses the newest cruise dock at Port Canaveral, Terminal 1. The parking garage is adjacent to the cruise terminal so there is no need to get rained-on like all the other terminals. Traffic is far less congested than those servicing Disney, Carnival and Norwegian Cruise Lines. The menu in the main dining room has changed since dry dock. It is probably more efficient for the waiter to obtain orders for the appetizer, entree and dessert all at once. Service is warm, friendly and efficient. We enjoyed the Junior Suite. It doubles the cruise points for Crown and Anchor Society Members. There was adequate storage and drawers in the room but storage and shelves in the bathroom were sorely lacking. It is rather small compared to other junior suites in the Royal Caribbean Fleet. It has173 square feet with a 60-square-foot balcony. The balcony has a table and two chairs. Majesty is in Nassau from 08:00am until 9:00pm. Personally, I would not be in Nassau after dark for security reasons. I enjoy taking a short walk to Pirate Republic Brewing to enjoy their craft IPA (Island Pirate Ale). The beer is fresh, cold and one-half the price you would pay on the ship. Entertainment: The first night features a Welcome Abord Comedy Show and the Royal Caribbean Singers and Dancers. Tuesday night's production ShowTime is "Signed, Sealed, Delivered". The Headliner Show is Wednesday night while the ship is in Nassau. Thursday night highlights the singers and dancers in "Boogie Wonderland". Embarkation: There are two lines to enter security in Terminal 1: one for those passengers who have sailed on Royal Caribbean before and one line for those who have not. Priority embarkation for suite guests is a myth through the security line. Disembarkation: A buffet is served in the Windjammer and a full-service breakfast is available in the Main Dining Room. Suite guests receive priority luggage tags to be the first numbers called. Continental breakfast is also available in a reserved conference room while waiting for departure. Read Less

Exciting! That’s what I’d call hopping on a cruise for the first time. Nice to go, Book through Costco Travel and get a good deal. After going through all a few key boarding procedures that include getting our picture taken by a professional photographer, putting on a wrist band and given our access cards to the rooms, we started exploring our boat. It didn’t feel like we were inside a boat at all. It felt more like a luxury hotel with see through elevators. Our Ocean view deck room was great: comfortable bed, safe box, minibar, movies on demand and the ensuite bathroom that was small but pleasant. The Royal Caribbean staff is really friendly and their maintenance is really appreciable. I loved their food at wyndyamar. The staff was polite and friendly in understanding the need of each guest on the cruise. I felt little disappointed at dining room as of menu selection is much more like american dining. Apart from that I felt each and every corner is appreciable. Its Value for money. It was sad to leave. Read Less

Choice of cruise was availability on spring break, personal past experiences, affordability, etc. Unfortunately we did not realize that so many colleges were also on break. Very loud, sometimes rude young people which Royal Caribbean could not control. Staff were always very attentive to our family, but it made getting to events difficult because of too many people on elevators. This cruise was our second on Royal Caribbean. First time was about 20 years ago, and much has changed. Most changes were for the better, but I did remember the elaborate chocolate midnight buffet that was offered back then. Couldn’t eat it, but loved looking at the visions of art. Entertainment by staff was elaborate this time. When at Johnny Rockets, we were entertained by our waitress and by the chef and other staff. Not many in restaurant, but we enjoyed card tricks, puzzles, and dancing! We definitely will be booking another cruise with you in few months. In our senior years it is nice to have comfortable lodging and staff to treat you like royalty! Read Less

I am normally not one to write reviews, however here goes Our Cruise was rated as okay. The emabarkation and debarkation was handled quickly and eficientlty. Our room 3086 was small with a porthole window which was what expected but certainly acceptable. The housekeeper was friendly and efficient Dining room: Unfortunately our dining room experience which is normally a highlight of the trip was not. Wait staff Narby and Marlon were very good, efficient and did what they could to make it enjoyable. We had requested originally a table for 2 and RCL changed it to table for 6 which we then looked forward to meeting others. We were seated at a table for 8 by our selves. We spoke to Maitre'd about having others seated with us as the dining room was half full. We did invite Matt a young single guy to join us which he did. The last night we met a nice couple and suggested they join us and they were excited to do. She checked with their maitre 'd and was told you cannot change. We spoke to Guest services and his comment was same as ours... that's stupid. Had the feeling the staff did not have the authority to make the passengers really happy Food was acceptable but not great- the mile high meringue lemon pie was a little tart We knew it was an older ship ready for a refit which we fully accepted. Ships staff: had the feeling they were blowing there own horn so often someone was trying to pump up staff moral. Flag display of staff interesting and enjoyable. Next night big display of dining staff- okay Next night at theatre paraded many of staff in now going overboard Next night at dinner same thing with dining room staff. way overboard The shows were good and enjoyable. Both in theatre and in the Spectrum. I hope that when it goes to dry dock they do some training on middle management on how to make passengers and happy so they will right a glowing review. Looking forward to our next cruise on Holland America Read Less

Food and service with nothing special even during gala night. Shows very poor and many of them are made by the guests. The disembarkation process was not well explained: stay with luggage ou send them. If you not stay with your luggage you will need to remain on board 2 h more. Cause this I miss an meeting. Every information required was answer with a ugly face. At the cassino, restaurant, etc. The main restaurant require a specific table during dinner. Although I make a reservation for table for 2, that was not available. During breakfast and lunch the guests were told by crew to seat in a very small area, one over another. I don't know why!. We chose this 3 night Bahamas cruise as a quick getaway just after Thanksgiving to relax and gamble a little. The priced was great but we were not happy with the quality of food, it has really gone down since the last time we cruised on Royal Caribbean. The ship is old and in need of updating. Shows were good, 2 comedians and an floor show. The last morning of the cruise was their worst! At breakfast we waited over 15 minutes to place our order after asking 4 different waiters for help and being told it wasnt their table. My husband finally got up and got the pot of coffee and served us. When we did get our order it was wrong and the waiters were upset that we wanted it corrected. It felt to us like they had their tips so they couldnt care less about how they treated us. Read Less

We especially enjoyed the singers & dancers shows and the guitar player and piano player at the piano bar in the schooner lounge. We also enjoyed the caribbean band and singing and karaoke in the centrum. richard did an excellent job as our cabin attendant and after i requested ice once, he kept ice in our ice bucket and that made me very happy. we especially enjoyed our dinners because of the excellent service, attention to detail, great food recommendations and attentiveness of our waiter nikola and his assistant kadek. and we thought the dinner choices were great and the food was delicious! we have taken cruises in miami, new york and port canaveral. Port canaveral is our very favorite port because port canaveral is very well organized for a smooth entrance as well as exit, on and off the cruise. Read Less

This was a mother daughter trip. We chose this ship based on the length of the cruise and the fact that it left from Cape Canaveral (which was driveable). The ship was small enough that my elderly mother could navigate it well enough. The layout of the ship was a little more difficult than some of the larger ships. There was only one elevator to the soft drink machines. I ended up just using the steps instead. The food was mediocre. Even our head server did not have many good words for the selections. She claimed that most options were dry. The staff were great though. The ship is headed to dry dock in January. It needs an update. We had fun though. We did find the theater seats to be very uncomfortable. We also did not realize that the entire starboard side of the ship is smoking anywhere outside. We had to cross the ship just to avoid the smoke. Read Less

I did do a little sightseeing off the ship, but I had the best time on board the ship The art auction was also very nice.I plan to take another cruise real soon.hopefully, I will be cruising on the Mediterranean seas. We wanted a short cruise to get away. Coco Cay did not handle my small scooter at all due to the sand. My husband's large scooter with big tires went through it good. If all the sand was packed down, my scooter would have gone through it OK. It was a pretty ship. We had rain in Nassau so we stayed on the ship. The food was good and all the wait staff and stateroom staff was excellent. The elevator system is very bad. You can not get to the 14th. floor on the side of the ship which has the pizza and compass rooms there. You must go on opposite side of ship, then cross over outside to get other elevator to go up there. When it rained and very windy you can not go outside as doors were locked. It was good to get away for four days. Read Less

This cruise had mostly young people. Really, I expected more entertainment opportunities to choose from at night. I liked the movie offerings. The food at the Windjammer, was actually not even as good as the Golden Corral. I didn't know we could use Room Service, until the last night, when I found the menu.(and room service was not available on the last night.). Never got an email telling us to print our boarding pass at least 3 days before the cruise, or that the excursions or entertainment offerings would be closed to us, if we did not look through them at least 3 days before the cruise. So, I went to the website 2 days before the cruise and could not look through what would be available on a cruise that I had paid for. When you get to Port Canaveral, there are no signs on the highway telling you what exit to take. Read Less

Took this 4 day cruise on a casino package. The staff were friendly and the ship being an older ship was clean and there were ongoing areas closed off for painting on the pool deck at times. There was plenty of activities that you didn't get bored. The MDR food was very good, but the Windjammer on this cruise was a flop. The food was cold at times and overcooked or under cooked. All lunch days at the carving station had meat that was dry and tough. Not sure if they have a new galley crew, or Royal is cutting corners now, but the Windjammer was a huge flop on this cruise. It seemed to be the same stuff in the Windjammer everyday and in the past it was mixed up with different items to choose from. Curry seems to be a staple food and everyday it was there. The pasta was always undercooked. I have been on plenty of cruises with Royal, and the Windjammer by far was not up to Royal Standards I have seen in the past. We had no issues with Windjammer staff and it was always pretty clean... I can't stress enough of how the Windjammer Food Quality and Choices were my only complaint. The MDR on the other hand was very much up to the Royal Standards I have seen in the past. The food was hot and the service was outstanding by our waiter Val. He was one of the best that we have seen. The headwaiter was also very attentive to make sure guests were happy as he has been in the past. All staff members on the ship were very friendly and always said hello. Our cabin was 2507 which was a handicapped accessible cabin that had plenty of room to get the scooter in and out of easily. The cruise director Ricky, Activities Director Mo, and his team were awesome ! Always something to do and get involved in. The nightly shows were great, but the comedy shows were my favorite. Kevi was awesome ! The casino hasn't changed much on this ship as it was a lot of give and no take. I am not sure they machines are really set to what they should pay back. Some ships you lose overall, but at least you get some back to extend your playing time and not lose it all as fast as this ship. Overall this was another great Royal Cruise, but they need to look into the Windjammer quality and bring back up to what it once was. Read Less

I chose Royal Caribbean for 5 reasons: 1. Affordably 2. Short trips for busy people 3. Royal's loyalty Rewards (Crown & Anchor Society and Casino Royal perks) 4. Great customer service. 5. Though huge, this ship is small enough for me to get my mother around w/out exhausting her. In July my mother and I boarded the MOS (Majesty of The Seas) for our 6th time. Shortly before sailing a medical issue required mom to be transported to a hospital by ambulance. Since I had trip cancellation ins. through my credit card company and not the cruise line, Royal ended up giving us $400 in vouchers for our next cruise. We immediately rebooked TWICE when she was well again. I took my mother on the MOS (Majesty of The Seas) . We went again Aug. 12th 12017. My mother won a little over $5,000.00 in the Casino and Royal upgraded us to a large room and send little gifts to us each day...still making up for her illness the prior sailing. Her illness had nothing to do with Royal and they did not have to do this for us...but they did and we are grateful. We went again August 25th 2017 and had a wonderful time. I'm not the biggest fan of Nassau, so our trip into town was quick (6-7 sailings to this port). As always, our favorite port is Coco Cay where we feed the fish in the ocean, float on the buoyant, teal salt water and let our troubles wash away. Since the MOS moved karaoke night out of the Bolero and into the Centrum, the attendance and participants are now greater and it's a blast to watch. From line dancing classes to comedy shows to sushi making classes, the MOS has it all. We often skip dinner in the formal dining room in favor of the ease of the Windjammer. Regardless of fine dining or buffet, service staff are always great and attentive and we are always well-cared for on the MOS. Read Less

We live near Port Canaveral, Florida and chose a four day cruise on the Majesty of the Seas as a quick, summer getaway. We knew in advance that she is an older ship with fewer on-board activities and more low-key entertainment than on the bigger ships (last June we sailed on the Oasis of the Seas; big difference). However, we enjoyed our cruise and will be back on-board to celebrate my husband's birthday in October. We especially liked our dining room experience and the Viking Crown Lounge. We opted for My Time Dining in the the Starlight Dining Room and, since we made reservations for the same time every night, had the same excellent servers for all dinners. The meals were consistently good. Although I did not particularly like the sliders, the salmon was great as was the beef tenderloin on formal night. Windjammer was crowded (Duh!) but we always found seats and there was enough variety in the food to satisfy our appetites. We wished it stayed open later, if not for full meals for a quick snack because, quite honestly, Sorrentos Pizza was pretty bad and the Compass Deli needs to be re-thought. We were not impressed with either Sorrentos or the deli. Continental breakfast/room service was great. Our cabin on deck 9 was fine. Very roomy compared to some others, with good storage space and a small refrigerator. We had some trouble regulating cabin temperature (too cold!) but wrote that off to our being Floridians who usually keep our home temp at 80 degrees. Can't say anything about ports or shore excursions. We sail to be pampered on ship, enjoy the meals, nap and read. One of the best, QUIET places to read, BTW, is the Viking Crown Lounge. It is on Deck 14, with a 360 degree view of "the world". It was amusing to watch those pool side running for cover when a passing shower drenched one and all! And, you can take a picture of your loved ones behind an old, wooden ship's wheel. Read Less

WE LOVED EVERY MOMENT. please, don't miss dining at Moonlight. Wow, the food and the service were excellent. Ricky and Moe were excellent. I think they should assign an elevator for passengers using wheel chairs. The breakfast at the Starlight was really good and the shows at the Chorus Line theater should not be missed, I am sure you will love them. There is no need to cruise in a big ship when the activities and the services are outstanding. We are already planning our second vacation. YOU will be amazed. The group planner chose this cruise but, I think that it was good. We had a great time with extended family and friends. Would love to do it again, maybe a few days longer, if the price is attractive. The food was acceptance, especially at diner in the dining room. It was served hot, and very flavorful. The pizza at the pizza bar was poorly prepared and served. Because they were servicing a large group of people, once the pizza was made, they just staked each pie on top of each other, which caused it to be soggy and slices stick to each other. The drinks gave out often, and a few times there was no syrup in the fountains, you where drinking diluted drink. Other then that I was completely please with our trip. Oh, I wish that we were able to spend more time at the ports that we visited, it would have made the trip more enjoyable. Read Less

Majesty of the Seas (Majesty) is a smaller ship that was launched in 1992 with 2,350 passenger capacity. It sails for the three and four-day cruises to the Bahamas from Port Canaveral. Majesty uses the newest cruise port at Port Canaveral, Terminal 1. The parking garage is adjacent to the cruise terminal so there is no need to get rained-on like the other terminals. Traffic is far less congested than those servicing Disney, Carnival and Norwegian Cruise Lines. The menu in the main dining room has more variety and flavor than Oasis class ships. Service is warm, friendly and efficient. (My favorite appetizer is the Smoked Fish Rillettes, which is only offered on the first night's dining.) Majesty excels in customer service and a happy crew. I attribute their positive attitude to the Hotel Director, John Denton, who has been in the hospitality industry for 30-years and his hard-working team of managers. As Diamond-Plus members on Royal Caribbean, we enjoyed complementary drinks and snacks in the Viking Crown Lounge each evening 5:00 pm - 8:30 pm. We bypassed two-hundred passengers standing in line for the tender boats to Cocoa Cay and we were driven to a private pavilion on the island for an open bar and upscale lunch with officers. I had one of the highest number of cruise nights for passengers aboard our cruise and was fortunate to be invited to the Captain's Table for dinner. The menu choices were: Appetizer: Corn & Chipolte Chowder Black Miso-Glazed Scallops Warm Brie & Bacon Tart Winter Fusion Greens Main Course: Cajun Prawns Pink Roasted Herbed Lamb Rack Surf & Turf Mumbai Butter Chicken Eggplant Caprese Sweet Temptations: Ivory Chocolate Mould with Cheese Cake and Brandy Berries Entertainment: The first night features the Royal Caribbean Singers and Dancers in "Boogie Wonderland". The Headliner Show is Saturday night, a formal dress night, while the ship is in Nassau. A farewell comedy show is presented on Sunday night. Embarkation: There are two lines to enter security in Terminal 1: one for those passengers who have sailed on Royal Caribbean before and one line for those who have not. We arrived early where the lines were small and moving easily. Time from entering the terminal, going through security, completing the checking-in process and stepping onto the ship was 10-minute! Wow! Disembarkation: Diamond and Diamond-Plus guests receive priority luggage tags to be one of the first numbers called. A buffet is served in the Windjammer and a full-service breakfast is available in the Main Dining Room. This cruise ship was perfect! I've never been on a cruise before and decided I'd try it. I took my grandmother (who's 72) and we both had a blast! She enjoyed the casino most overall. The ship is an older smaller ship but, the crew makes it perfect overall. It was easy to navigate and figure out where everything was on the first day ( very important as my grandmother can be forgetful haha) The food was great, Breakfast in the main dining room was my favorite (It was never very crowded and the buffet at breakfast was very nice with a variety of food). Our cabin was cozy and perfect for both of us. I gave her the twin bed next to the bathroom so she wouldn't have an issue in the middle of the night and she could see the ocean in the picture window. We stopped in nassau on one of our two ports, It was very busy, hot,and everyone wanting to sell you something, The rum cake there was the only part I enjoyed, CoCo Cay Was The Best! If you ever wondered where the pictures in Calendars are taken...that the place. It was relaxing and just ...PERFECT! We opted out for fancy night and went to Johnny Rockets. I didn't purchase a soda package so the fee ( I think 7.50) was well worth it for all you can eat and drink. The burgers and staff were great! We made so many memories and my grandmother really enjoyed herself, Thats what really mattered. Read Less

We give this ship an 8 out of 10. The inclusive dinning choices were exceptional and the food was very enjoyable. The assigned dinning rooms were kept immaculate and the menu was exceptional. The on board shops were very well placed in the center of the ship and had a very good selection of items to purchase at discounted pricing offers. Excellent food and service in the dining room. Everywhere else on the ship was utter chaos. Poor security control on boisterous and inappropriate actions of large groups sailing together. Very poor plumbing. All areas were severely understaffed. While waiters, servers, and other crew members attempted to work very quickly and were polite and friendly, they could not keep up with demand. There were several groups on this sailing that became overly raucous and rude, were overly scantily clothed, and were groping in public areas. We did not see any enforcement of rules or common decency. The Adventure Ocean Program was excellent, and I am thankful my granddaughter had a safe place to enjoy age appropriate activities in the evenings. She was very uncomfortable with behavior she saw in public areas, and the cabin was too small for three people to spend time in. Manicurist was very accommodating in the spa, with my 11 year old granddaughter, although there was a bride in the salon at the time, getting her hair done for her wedding that day, who described to all, using profanity, a physical altercation she had the evening before in the hot tub area, with a 17 year old youth. Overall this was not the experience we had planned for our granddaughter's first cruise. Read Less

We chose this cruise for a family reunion. Have traveled RC prior on this same ship and had a great experience. Port Canaveral was convenient to get to and easy to leave from going home. We loved the Majesty of the Seas ship and personnel. It's a clean ship, and the staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. The food in the dining room offered a lot of variety and the food was fresh and delicious. Dinner in the dining room was awesome. We had assigned seating the first night and then we sat round robin and moved around within our group of 28. The staff made our dinner exceptional. Our Porte, Merlin, was great, he was always one step ahead of us and seemed to know our needs. He kept us in fresh ice and kept the rom clean at all times. Our group participated in the Quest game. Although it was fun, it was not nearly as fun as the last cruise we were on. Overall it was a great trip and we would do it again. Read Less

This was my first cruise experience, so my husband and I choose Majesty of the Seas due to port proximity and destinations. First I will say that embarkation was a breeze and took us about 30 minutes. Much easier than expected, park was nearby too. The ship was a little bit dated, and in need of some renovations but everything for the most part was clean (except the carpet, that had water stains in a lot of areas by the rooms). We were in level 2 in room 2514 and the room was bigger than I expected with a beautiful port hole view. Our room attendant was very attentive and made sure everything was working, and we had everything we might need thru out the day. We are in our 20s, so the activities aboard were not of much interest to us (70s disco party, bingo night) but we spend time at the casino and enjoying the ocean views and shops while on board. The food in the main dining room was mediocre, but the service and presentation were superb. After the first night, we ate exclusively at Winjammer, since the food was plenty and very tasty. They had a breakfast egg station where the cook would make dishes to order. I also had a delicious tilapia and swordfish filet. We stopped at Nassau, which to me seemed like a run down Key West. You could tell that the area was focused on tourists. We took the Atlantis excursion for the waterpark, but it was extremely hot and humid with no shade. After a few hours, we had to go inside to cool off since there is no shade whatsoever in the water park. After returning to the boat at about 5:00pm we got back on very quickly, not even 5 minutes, showered/changed and head back out to dinner at Atlantis (Mosaic) at about $70 pp for buffet, the dinner was the best part of the trip, we got to see the sun seat from the restaurant. After spending the rest of the night in Atlantis, we headed back at abou 10:30pm to the ship so we could head out to CoCoCay. We rented the Beach Bungalow which was the best decision for the trip. It included a private transport to the other side of the island with little to no kids around (which is what we wanted) and we got lunch delivered to us directly to our bungalow so no need to deal with the large crowds at the buffet area. Trust me, rent the Bungalow early and once you board the ship, go to the Shore Excursion desk to preselect your Bungalow location so its in the front row and not the back. I would go on this ship again in a heart beat. But dont compare it to a big expensive ship or you will be dissapointed. It is an old sturdy ship, thats clean and will get you where you need to go with decent food and a friendly staff. I would say this is the Toyota of cruise ships. :) Read Less
