New Zealand summer time never lets you down it was just a pity about the balcony of the cabin. The ship itself is lovely and the entertainment very good, food was hit and miss the kitchen trying to pass chicken pieces off as sweetbreads......both Grille and Harmony had good food but Le Mer was a very poor representation of French cuisine. Definitely go to the English Pub lunch at Grille it's the closest you would get to a true pommy experience the sausages are the best I have ever eaten and my wife had the steak and kidney pie with plenty of kidney we went both times it was on. Drinks are super expensive we were going to do the drink package and decided not too which worked out well just limiting how much you have to drink, cocktails nothing out of the ordinary here compared to other cruise lines. Entertainment was exceptional but to get a seat in the theatre you had to be there one hour before the show started a lot of people were disappointed. Shopping was per any ship. Embarking and disembarking were exceptional smooth we took the baggage with us when leaving the ship. Read Less

When I booked this cruise I requested our dining with friends who were also on the cruise but no we were seated at different tables so I have no faith in the Princess booking service as they don't follow-up on requests. Fortunately the Maitre D was able to seat us together after a long wait as he was busy fixing numerous complaints/errors. The cabin was a balcony suite and it was fine with a very happy, friendly Cabin Steward who was always ready with a hello and smile. The same can't be said of the rest of the staff who looked bored and at times inattentive. Maybe it is the size of the ship and the number of people on board. I didn't see any officers whilst on board unlike the smaller Princess Ships I have traveled on. The food was its usual high standard but I felt the menu selection was not up to Princesses normal standard with many items now requiring an additional cost. As for eating in the Market Place, forget it . Seating is very hard to find, there is no structure or control of lines or ques with people just pushing in and quite frankly being quite rude. Most of the bar staff were friendly and did their best to provide good service but again with so many people it often took some time to get a drink. The on-board entertainment ranged from excellent to ordinary but trying to please the masses must be difficult. Finding a seat in the theatre was near impossible unless you arrive 30/45 mins early as only has about 1000 seats. The offer of a free photo (with conditions of course) was a rip-off as you had to pay $19.99 to download the digital image before you received your $10 free photo. I can download my digital photos in a matter of minutes. I will travel with Princess again in the future but only on the smaller ships as despite the size the larger ship lacks personality, has limited seating capacity in most areas and a lot of staff just never raised a smile. I chose this cruise due to it's Itinerary and my up until now good experience with Princess - this cruise has changed that! Was looking forward to trying the new ship- but was disappointed.Crew were fantastic but there were so many issues with the ship and our cabin that I would not recommend it. Too big- too many things happening in piazza- Princess theatre too small- couldn't hold enough guests- had to be there 1 hour before show time in order to be assured of a seat. Food not as good as usual- often luke warm or overcooked risotto- Flooded balcony even when the sun was shining- issues with balciony door and creaks in the mini suite seiling. Door and creaks sorted out, but despite the staffs efforts, balcony unusable all cruise. VERY DISAPPOINTED. Travel agents took over the boat in the last 4 days making paying guests wait longer in line for dinner ----Elite and platinum area in a horrible area at back of boat- Some good features like Vines wine bar and International cafe and pizzeria- where we ate 6 times on our cruise. Hate that buffet- too busy never enough seats in peak time- Movies OK- some very old. Enteratinment varied- too hard to get into theatre for shows-ahd to line up too long-- need to ticket the theatre so everyone gets a chance. Think the boat is TOO big and the issues with our cabin unbelievable!!!! Read Less

We choose a local cruise and wanted to sail on the new Majestic Princess The Ship is beautiful the staff are amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment in the Piazza and shows. We met some great people on this cruise and enjoyed catching up with them in the evening. The Majestic princess has a wonderful friendly crew on board in all of the areas around the ship from shops, dinning rooms, cabin stewards and bar staff. We loved the Noodle bar for a light lunch and the World Marketplace Buffet. All the Princess favorites are there and after a few days we resorted back to light breakfast in the International Cafe and late lunch as it was becoming too difficult to choose from the many food options and also to prevent a thickening waistline! Embarkation in Sydney was fast and so was disembarkation in Auckland A very enjoyable cruise and a wonderful ship! Read Less

We had a wonderful time on our cruise and the ship was fantastic! We were able to board as soon as we arrived and did not encounter any issues. Everything was wonderful! A beautiful ship with excellent service, we could not fault anything and would highly recommend it to everyone. We enjoyed all of the features the ship had to offer. The specialty restaurants, Harmony, Crown Grill and the French restaurant La Mer were very good. The food in the any time dinning restaurants was also good as was the World Fresh Marketplace, International Cafe, Chopsticks Noodle Bar and the Piazza . Our room was serviced on a regular basis and always with a smile. We were unable to enter Milford Sound due to weather but were able to cruise through other fiords that were just as spectacular. Photograph packaged were very affordable with lots of options available. Would happily book another cruise on this ship. Read Less

We chose this cruise, because we wanted to cruise to New Zealand and also be on the Majestic Princess. We now can enjoy her more in March, for our cruise to Hong Kong. The embarkation was a breeze, in that we walked straight up to the check in counter, completed processing in little more than five minutes and walked straight aboard. Likewise, disembarking was also easy, although we found ourselves waiting in the carpark for quite a while for our transport. This was our error in disembarking early. The ship is very well presented with an abundance of polished brass, glass and marble along with timber finishes. Our interior cabin had more than enough space, although the bathroom was just a bit squeezy. Another 100 mm in all directions would make a huge difference. Our dining experiences were very good to excellent. There was certainly many choices of fine foods available from the Market Place to the Dining Rooms. The entertainment on the Majestic was very good to excellent. The Princess Orchestra was particullarly of very high standard indeed. Only one act left us unimpressed, but I will not name that, as others may have enjoyed it. Activities were superb, with much to choose from. Trivia, Liar's Club etc by the Entertainment Crew was most enjoyable. We found the service onboard to be excellent. Our room steward, Glenn, was a real kind gentleman. We were particularly amazed how a wonderful young lass, Min, remembered us from our cruise to Hawaii on the Golden Princess a year ealrier. Amazing indeed. We were very pleased with the ports and excersions in New Zealand. we nedd to repeat this cruise to partake in further experiences in New Zealand. Oh, did I say we loved it? Oh yes, we did love this cruise. Read Less

Drink packages and general pricing has increased. At Lotaka if you wanted to go into town you had to pay $20 to catch a bus, buy your own water for the trip as well. Premier shows have been reduced. Food was warm and twice (didn’t bother lineing up a 3rd time) the wait getting into the dining room was everlasting. Two tours were organised and the main objective was to take the bus load of passengers to one or more shops so everyone could purchase local garbage key rings or Chinese t-shirts. The cost was $120 per person. I ran into 5 guys from the ship who organised their own tour costing them $30 each and going to several other places than my bus went to and not including shopping centres. I think all the cruise ships need to find some more interesting locations to go too as the current ones are outdated and these days overpriced. Read Less

After being on loads of cruise ships some good but most bad, I have to say Majestic princess was an outstanding surprise. The food quality was excellent even in the buffet.. The bed comfort was the best I have ever been on, they usually are so hard and put my back in spasms but this was exceptional cloud like comfort. So many restaurants and coffee shops to choose from, and so many areas on the ship to relax in peace and quiet. This ship is so big that even fully booked and at maximum capacity we never had to line up for anything. My only advice when booking a cruise is always look up when the boat was built it doesn't matter how many refurbs its had 30 yr old aircon and 30 yr old plumbing will ruin any cruise. I will never sail on an old cruise ship again majestic princess was built only 1 yr ago. It's my new favourite cruise ship. I will definitely be going back.. Read Less

We choose this cruise for the ports of call, which were all good. But the ship albeit shiny new and very clean was very disappointing the entertainment was very poor, only one show all week, pianist on several times a day, boring after the first time, string quartet good but again every day. Small band ok but bit past it, disc jockey playing music for young teens only, very little other entertainment. Bored and in cabin by ten every night. Staff polite but knowing they have no future on board were not particularly helpful happy or polite. Had to complain twice in restaurant as food was not cooked. Good food in help yourselves but cold by the time you got to your table..Bar prices were extremely expensive. No small token to say maiden voyage. We will definitely not cruise with princess again unless they can guarantee much better time. Would definitely like to hear what they have to say. Read Less
