We’ve done a few cruises with other liners and they were so much better than the Princess if you are between 70 - 90 yrs old, then this slow paced ship is designed for you it was boring. The same program almost every day. The constant pushing and harassment to get you to buy on board all the very overpriced things suggesting markdowns, discounts, buy buy buy! The staff are friendly enough, it’s not their fault, it’s the sales pitch their forced to do. Raffles to win was one way to get you in. There were many ‘evemts’ Daily, enticed to get you to buy more! This never happened on the other cruises. The food was also boring. No variety. I’ve been on a few cruises and this one has to be the worst when it comes to selection or choices. If you want lactose free milk, you had to ask for it especially. It was never an option next to the breakfasts where it should be. There were no lactose free cheese, yoghurt or ice cream. Yeti when we booked we were given the option to select food requirements and this was suggested that it was already a part of their every day food choices! I received an email stating that lactose free will be available. For gluten free needs, there was one little section with the same food in it daily! I’m not gluten free but would hate to be as 8 know someone with coeliacs disease and she gets very sick if she eats gluten! So having such very little food options would be a dreadfully long cruise with the boring selections! It reawas very disappointing. I’m never a complainer with anything and will always make do with what we have but this really needed to be mentioned! The movies by the stars, was a huge screen at the end of an open deck pool area. So you can imagine how noisy it was! You couldn’t watch a movie at all during the day as you couldn’t hear it, it was just noise in the background over people talking loudly or kids in the pool. The evening movies were better but you had to fight to get a good spot to see it clearly as most of the deck chairs were on the level of the pool and they had this fountain in the middle (which was never used except for special events!) and you had to battle to see through rails, bars, decorative trees and so on. So it was really poorly designed to see around it. The best seats were near the smokers deck and we had to put up with inhaling their second hand smoke or sit somewhere we couldn’t see the screen well! The theatre where we had most of the main entrainment held, was badly designed. If weren’t lined up an hour early, you were either unlucky to get a seat at all, or got one of the crappy seats on the front several rows to either side which you couldn’t see the show anyway! That’s when the seats were not broken! For a new ship, I really felt there was so much poor design of the layout. Other than all of this, I did find that most of the staff were wonderful! Read Less

Not enough cover around the pool area dance floor between the pools was a wasted space not enough seating for 3500 people no entertainment on pool decks just movies no good for families used passengers as entertainment with line dancing every day played lawn bowls in front of lifts .this ship is ok if you are over 70 and you like gambling or wake up in the morning have breaky then lay at the pool and sleep until lunch have lunch then go back to the pool and sleep until dinner when you have finished dinner they are ready for bed same again next day. Excellent value for a suite - liked the itinerary - wanted to experience a new ship. Good overall but we did not like the mattress in the suite. I suspect it is rubber based as it always seemed to be hot. Club class dining is excellent with no waiting during anytime dining. Enrichment Lectures were lacking. Only one American based speaker (most of the PAX were Australian) and he joined part way through the cruise. No others. Captain Dino's announcements were all good but interaction with officers was non-existent - unfortunate - it happens sometimes. Had a look at pricing on a similar cruise (SYD-SIN) next year and note the price has doubled for the same number of days, compared with what we paid. At this price we will probably pass for that itinerary. We enjoyed the cruise and it was great value, an excellent ship. We will sail on her again. Read Less

My wife and I are platinum level cruisers, needless to say we have stayed true to Princess. We decided to try the newest in the Princess fleet that is the Majestic Princess, unfortunately the experience was not what we expected. The atmosphere we experienced on previous cruises with Princess on obviously smaller ships (Golden princess, Diamond Princess, Sea Princess) was not there. On this occasion it was just as if Princess have focused on getting as much as possible from passengers, giving very little back...No more happy hour...Elite/Platinum special afternoon get together s were dismal to say the least. Overall a very average cruise experience definitely not up to Princess standard...Hopefully it will not be the standard for future cruises, because if not then a lot of regular Princess cruises will be looking at other cruise lines. Ship:- A beautiful ship - clean and definitely Majestic Cabin:- Balcony cabin M629 was great with all anyone could ask for..No noise with easy access to lifts - stairs - buffet area and the Wake Bar at the very rear of the ship. Dining:- We had anytime dining and did not experience any problems getting a table. We were however disappointed with the meals on several occasions. Meat was not cooked (raw) one one occasion not edible. Other dishes were very repetitious and bland, definitely not as described. The buffet was as expected for the first two days, but it never changed ????what you saw to-day is what you got tomorrow.... Entertainment: Went to the Theater once and saw a juggler and comedian...great show Went once to a Princess production show and did not go again...It was loud and suitable for a very young audience, certainly not for the majority of older folk. In cabin TV was great with a good selection of the latest movies... Activities:- A good selection of daytime programs to suit most tastes. most of which were around the Atrium area of the ship. If you could get a table... Service:- Could not fault the service from any area of the ship...staff were always ready to assist and help. Ports:- Having done this cruise twice before we were familiar with the ports visited, however still enjoyed every aspect every time. Shore Excursions:- I guess this is always a bone of contention for regular cruises as they are aware that the cost of an excursion from Princess is going to be far more expensive than purchasing from local operators..Always a good idea to do your research before buying an excursion from the ship. Drinks:- One would think that sailing duty free ect would be great, sadly this is not the case. The average price of a beer was around $8.95 with the price of a glass of average wine was $10 per glass. A bottle of wine for which we would purchase in Australia for around $10-$12 per bottle, started at $46 and went up from there. I, like the majority of cruises who enjoy an ale or glass of wine consider this to be exorbitant. If you dont drink at all thats fine but an average Aussie considers this a part of the social experience and looks forward to it. The so called Duty Free alcohol on board the ship is just ridiculous, you can buy better from Dan Murphy on a regular day. Why Princess and other cruise lines think that passengers are silly is beyond me. Conclusion:- A big ship and definitely an experience, but for a regular older (65+) cruiser I would probably choose a more traditional ship, I can go down to Westfield Plaza and sit in a coffee shop and have the same if not a better atmosphere. We cruise to NZ every year, and Princess is our favourite cruise line. Majestic Princess is only two years old, and is still in very good condition. The ports of call are excellent, and there is a fairly good selection of shore excursions. The public areas are spacious, and the cabins are a good size. The bed is very comfortable, but there is only one chair. The balcony on this cabin was a very good size, with two deck chairs, a small table, and two foot stools. The food was well presented but quite repetitive. The waiters were very obliging and efficient, and also polite and friendly. The entertainment staff left a bit to be desired, with one member who didn't turn up to organise one event, and who was also 15 minutes late for another. The production shows featuring the singers and dancers were fabulous. The Wake Show (the morning in-house TV show featuring all the events of the day) was not very interesting, and we stopped watching it after a few days. We have noticed that the standards on Princess have deteriorated over the years we have been cruising (26 cruises with Princess, 10 with other cruise lines), so I think our next NZ cruise will be with someone else. This is my 4 th cruise with princess and was excited for this one being there biggest ship but found the layout of the ship difficult to get my head around I had been on the royal princess a couple of years ago and no doubt in my mind the better ship . I also felt hygeine standards had slipped with often no staff member on guard or sanitiser available just a sink hand washing area and often soap had run out , consequently sickness was rampant through the ship and of course I got it and have been sick now for 12 days and ongoing visits to doctor , carry your own sanitiser. The staff work long hours and try there best and are very polite but often cannot speak English very well so sometimes it’s hard to get your order correct the first time. The food of course is in abundance most of it excellent standard and a great vareity. If I sail again with princess it would be on the Royal for sure. The inside cabins are small and aircon seems to be switched off at night which makes the room stuffy, would recommend a room with an opening window. Getting on and off the ship was easy very well organised, entertainment was first class ,the shows were amazing , room service was excellent but if you order a pot of tea be sure to ask for milk also.happy sailing Read Less

It was to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary and was a perfect choice. We were married in NZ so it felt right cruising back on the fabulous Majestic Princess. We weren’t disappointed, the food, service and entertainment was first class, just loved it. At night we dined in the Allegro dining room and it was the highlight of our day, the food and waiter service. We then went to the show of the night, not to be missed, great entertainment. The Hollywood Pool Club was such a relaxing area during the day, a heated indoor pool and spa, pleasant ambience to read etc. On our anniversary, balloons and a notice was put on our cabin door. We booked in to Harmony, a special restaurant that night and enjoyed it so much, wow. The waiters presented us with a little chocolate cake with a candle and sang Happy Anniversary. Everyone was so helpful on the ship, nothing was a problem, everything was so clean and we felt safe. For us, the cruise ports were all interesting, the weather was perfect and we enjoyed our shore excursions. Probably the highlights, and there were many, were the Sounds, Taieri Railway, Akaroa, Te Papa, Waiheke Island and the Bay of Islands, the Hole in the Rock excursion. The Art Deco in Napier we loved and all the volunteers who were there to meet the ship in every port made it special. I hadn’t been to Mt Maunganui and Tauranga, loved it. Very impressed with the embarkation and disembarkation, went like clockwork, congratulations to all involved. A really memorable cruise, we will be back! Read Less

While we thoroughly enjoyed our cruise on the Regal in the Baltic, and the Royal in the Mediterranean, the addition of an enclosed conservatory on the Majestic, with full length floor to ceiling windows, allowed us to enjoy this trip even more. New Zealand, especially in Milford Sound can be very cold, even in March, and being able to enjoy the views from the warm conservatory, was a highlight. It is an adults only area, and is a quiet space to read, or play board games, as well as relax on comfy sofas or swim in the undercover pool. We were blessed with good weather, so were able to enter all the ports and enjoy all the excursions of some unique destinations. We enjoyed traditional dining, as well as the noodle bar (yummy broth soups), international cafe, buffets, Crown Grill, Le Mer (french). All meals were of a high standard. The service was impeccable, and the staff could not do enough to ensure we were well looked after. Even finding us at the back of the Lido deck, watching a movie, and going off to find some blankets for us, in case it became cool during the evening. We thought out obstructed view deluxe balcony stateroom might not compare to our previous mini suites, but it was very roomy, with a sofa and a balcony and the obstruction was only partial. Housekeeping staff were friendly and efficient, which makes all the difference when living in a small space for 2 weeks, to come back to a tidy and clean space. Sydney is a busy place to embark, due to limited space, but it didn't take very long to go through passport/security. Our accommodation, booked through Princess, was very nice, and in a great location for sightseeing, in the Rocks/Circular Quay. It was super nice having the Princess Team pick us up from the airport. Highly recommended. The Majestic is a very large ship, so my only recommendation to those intending to travel on it, is to do your research and read the daily newsletter, to keep on top of the many options available for being entertained. It would be easy to miss some outstanding talent/activities. The Princess Theater Shows were of a very high standard, and it was worth getting to the theater a little early to ensure a seat. The dance party nights (Beatles and Abba) were fabulous fun. Even those using walkers made sure they got up to dance and wiggle the night away. There are many choices for excursions. We loved the sheep farm visit/Christchurch, Speights Brewery in Dunedin, Napiers fertile fruit/wine growing tours, Wellington wharf and Cable car ride/museum, Auckland for shopping, Mt Manganui itself is beautiful, if you don't want to go to Rotorua, Bay of Islands /Waitangi Treaty grounds visit was exceptional, as we had a Maori guide. The Museum there is also a knockout if you like history, Read Less

Choose the cruise for ease of journey and a number of places in New Zealand we had missed previously. We were impressed with Dunedin and fascinated with the history and beauty of Napier. Having been to Auckland before we decided to take the ferry over to Davenport, an easy choice as the ferry is right on the wharf where Majestic Princess docked. It was a lovely 15 minute ride which showcased the harbour and the little town itself was pretty and very visitor friendly; we had lunch there and browsed interesting shops before returning to Auckland. The itinerary Proved to be just the ticket! Every staff member we encountered on the ship were without fail, friendly, efficient and helpful, from wheelchair assistance at embarkation and disembarkation, to dining and stateroom staff. Caught up with all the latest movies under the stars and in cabin and really enjoyed The Crown grill, La Mer and Alfredos. Symphony dining staff were also superb. Joined the pop choir and made some new friends ….All in all loved it and are excited to return next year. Read Less

We loved the itinerary, but were so disappointed to find that our excursion had been cancelled last minute by Princess with no offer to help replace it. So we were on our own in Wellington. Then the ship had a delay with fog in Dunedin and could not dock an hour later because the tides were too low for this immense ship. The one Princess excursion to Waitupo and Rainbow Springs that was not cancelled was excellent! We also loved the Milford Sound fiords day. The entertainment on the ship was also very good, with Magic, Encore, and musical productions. It’s important to get there at least 30 minutes ahead if you want a seat though. Restaurant service in Anytime Dining was good with Ferdie as our favorite waiter. We were also extremely frustrated with erroneous bar charges that took multiple trips to the desk over several days, along with phone calls. Each time we were assured that it was corrected only to find that was not true. ( We had ordered just two glasses of wine one night but were charged for six!). These were finally corrected just an hour before we debarked. All of this left a very bad taste with Princess! We have never experienced problems like this on other cruises including Norwegian, Holland America, Gate One, or Azamara. We have already scheduled future cruises with Azamara and Celebrity, and will probably not sail on a large Princess ship again. Read Less

This is our 3rd longer princess cruise and now qualify for “ruby “ (30 sea days or more) these ranks would be fine if they gave discounts for drinks, WiFi, laundry, etc. I think you get free laundry and WiFi if you go up to platinum! Our Australia cruise started with 3 days at the Amora Hotel in Sydney... a very nice, quiet room in the convenient part of a large town. Even in our 60’s we opted for the bridge climb.. which was scary and fun! (Do the short one). We were told to embark on the majestic at a specific time based on your room floor.....ours was 4:pm. I have to admit... that is the fastest we ever got on a ship! The first sea day went quickly with the many new events to explore. We signed up for the you yang sanctuary in Melbourne our next port. Warning, this turned to be not what the description said... very difficult to see any kangaroos or koala! This tour would have been better if it was described as a sightseeing tour with a possibility of animal sightings! Our guide was good describing the area as we drove by. Another sea day... the Tasmania.... and Bonorong.... wow happy days!!! A tour with kangaroos, koalas and even dare devils!!!two more sea days... the the Fiordland and incredible scenery .....Dunedin,the next port was hilly and interesting. We toured and went to the batanical gardens.. also olverton house.. great if your into history and antiques in New Zealand! Akaroa, the next port.. was a hop in hop off... with a great driver who knew the area. We took the bike ride tour in Rotorua.. a super place inside a semi active volcanic area... with steaming geysers! Our trip ended in the Auckland hotel also a Amora... very nice hotel! We took another hop on hop off tour. Disembarking was long and painful from the ship and you wait for up to two hours to be called for port clearance! Eating on the ship for dining.... don’t get a set table number... if you want to meet people and have fun, ask for open dining or any time dining when you first book your cruise! Our room Stuart was so so ... he did his job, but not friendly like they usually are! The cabin was fine.... nice closet space... small balcony.. but mostly quiet and convenient. Read Less

My family needed a cruise suitable for our range of ages and tastes and this family friendly, low stress cruise absolutely matched our needs. Very clean ship inside and out with friendly staff and fun entertainers. We travelled from Sydney, Australia to Melbourne and Hobart and then went to New Zealand getting stops at Port Chalmers, Akaroa, Tauranga and Auckland. There was a large variety of activities that suited the seniors in our group as well as the younger cousins, too. From Zumba to Bingo to jaw-dropping production shows, we were thoroughly entertained onboard. Food was easy to acquire and change to our tastes as necessary for those with food allergies. I am pleased to note that there were accessible shore excursions and the entire ship was accessible for people with mobility issues. The outside and inside of the ship were truly majestic, with details everywhere to enhance the experience for guests of any culture. Read Less

It was a great experience so we signed up for another cruise next February. The service was exceptional. Everyone was more than happy to help and everyone greeted us with a smile. Embarkation and disembarkation were so organzied with few delays if any. The food was great and always prepared they way it was requested. The Captain gave us an update every day which was appreciated. We were in heavy rough seas but the ship was so stable that it wasn't a problem. Our excursions went like clockwork for the most part and were just as advertised. We saw wonderful scenery and learned alot about Australia and New Zealand. We booked 2 years ago and have been used to the Diamond and Golden Princess size ships. We didn't find it too big to walk around but we felt that the public rooms had been enlarged a little but too many people crowded into them causing congestion and a lot of noise. The practice of using the Piazza for activities such as Line Dancing classes instead of the Vista Lounge was a bad move. Most people go to the Piazza to sit down, have a coffee and meet people. When the so-called music started and a female with high pitched voice started yelling instructions into the microphone you couldn't hear yourself think. The music was not good apart from the piano player Marius because once again it was too high pitched and loud. The impressionist was excellent. Where, oh where, were the string quartets and trios??? Because it affected all the music mayabe the amplification was at fault. I daren't wear my hearing aids in the Piazza for fear of ear damage so consequently had trouble hearing people. On sea days you could hardly move because there were too many people around. The activities in the public area were not well planned when everybody was coming out of the lounges at the same time and trying to get through people who were waiting. The sudoku puzzle wasn't changed in the IT room. The Passenger Service staff on the whole didn't seem to know what they were doing and were quite unhelpful when a seat collapsed under me in the Princess Theatre. They wanted me to go to the doctor in 2 hours time when they opened and pay for it myself. We had to fill in 4 reports that essentially said the same thing and no apologies. Cabin staff were mediocre but Concerto dining staff were excellent even if the food was a bit tasteless. Read Less

Missed ports last cruise due to bad weather. This cruise was very good, only problems were greedy people keeping reserved seats for shows, policing by ship should have been better. also many People entering pools and spas, did not shower as requested by signs before entering,. Shore excursions from ship were good but a bit expensive as was the, price of drinks, could not see the duty free or GST exemption reflected in price. Buffet set up is messy as is trying to get a table, service in buffet area not very good. Movies in cabin were a bit dated and there was no current shows. The area for Elite passengers to get together each evening has been moved from Crooners bar to Vista Lounge a better idea, except that if you have formal dining at 5-15 pm it is hardly worth while attending hours shoul be advanced by a half an hour to give you a chance to enjoy yourself instead of rushing ir not going. Princess Happy hour has disappeared, where for an extra dollar you could buy a second drink, Not Good. Timing as the Cruise was over the new year and also location the ship was traveling were the important issues. Traveled on the other cruise ships during the new year eve time frame and it was very nice. This trip seemed to be smaller in activity scale when compared to other cruise trips Limited activities - Started a golf activity that was to continue - dropped without notification, no word, just dropped it. Food left a lot to be desired - Asian food represented very well however if you do not like this type of food the balance was less than acceptable - ended up eating from the kids menu for many of the meals. Became sick during the cruise and went to see the doctor - very little help - seemed as many people on the cruise were also sick with coughing and sore throats. Chose this cruise because it had an associated land tour after the cruise. The major issue was neither the cruise or land tour. It was what Princess did during booking. We booked a room almost one year before the cruise on deck 14 (room 505) with a balcony on the starboard side after much research. After everything was paid and approximately 45 days before the cruise they gave our room away without our knowledge or permission. We didn't learn this until we were printing the boarding pass which showed a room on deck 9 starboard aft. We called both Princess and our travel agent requesting our original room back. Princess said this was an upgrade and refused to give it back and our agent said she would have to get permission from the new people. They didn't get our approval why theirs? Anyway after many calls and arguments they finally gave us a room on deck 14 but it was not a location we wanted. It faced the aft of the ship and the location was similar to one we had on another cruise and didn't like. We couldn't cancel for two reasons, the cancellation charges and other plans we had booked before and after this cruise. So we accepted their room offer, but they will never get another cruise out of us. Now for the ship itself. Food was mediocre at best in the buffet and the La Mer restaurant which was the only specialty restaurant we visited. The buffet started shutting down food lines around 6:30 pm each night. They also closed off 1/4 of the buffet twice during the cruise for a Crab Shack specialty night restaurant. Next one port required tenders. There wasn't enough tenders to get the 3500+ people off the ship in a timely manner. Also it took an extra hour beyond the posted return time to get the people back on the ship. A ship this large doesn't need to do ports that require tenders. During the cruise and land tour we discussed these issues with travel agents and people which have done many Princess cruises, most of them were appalled with this cruise. We have done over ten cruises with different cruise lines and this was the second worst ever. Never again! Read Less

We are pleased we did it, as we learned a lot. We joined the Cruise Critic message board for this cruise, as well as the World one, and are so pleased that we did. At the meet and greet, it was great to fit faces to names, and have people to wave to in the corridors. We called ourselves the three C's -- Cool Christmas Cruisers -- and the three CCCs certainly fitted this ship -- though I am going to add more. It was Cool (the AC worked overtime, despite the cool weather), Clean (sparkling, in fact), and Colossal (it took us four and a half minutes to walk the corridor from our cabin the bow to the sternmost exit, which was the only way to the Allegro restaurant). It was also Confusing. By the 12th day people were still getting lost, myself being one of them. This can be blamed on a very poor interior design. The Piazza should be the heart of the ship, as the Atrium is on most ships we have sailed, but instead it is an impediment. It is also very noisy, as loud classes, such as Zumba, have to be held there, for lack of entertainment space. And the shops are not in an arcade, but scattered like an airport duty free area, making it very hard to walk through, when there is a crowd. I don't think they were doing much trade; I certainly didn't pause to browse. And then there is Culture -- lack of, that is. There is no card room, and the "library" is a set of shelves in the internet room. Bridge boards and bidding boxes were kept in the entertainment department, and put out in restaurants on sea days, for guests to use, unhosted. Games were played on the dinner tables, on top of the tablecloths. There was also a market held in a restaurant. I have strong reservations about this, which I have reported to the head Princess department in the US. Norovirus is the bane of cruise ships, and carrying publicly used material into the place where food is served is very risky indeed. There was little else of cultural interest. Two theatres, but no enrichment lectures. Each show is performed three times, two night sessions and the next in the middle of the day. I felt sorry for the entertainment department. It is a very hard ship for them. On the other hand, the internet is excellent, with an affable and helpful young man in charge of the internet cafe. Surprisingly, it was CHINESE! There must have been a big promotion in mainland China. If they were expecting a tropical cruise, they were disappointed. The Chinese from Australia and New Zealand were equally amazed, especially as everyone assumed they could not speak English, like their mainland counterparts. So that added to the fun. One night we shared a table with a lovely family. Their daughter, who lived in Melbourne, translated freely, but it was easy to "talk" as her mother had such an expressive face. I was informed that the ship was designed for the Chinese market, which explains a lot, including the interior design (very like a top Chinese restaurant in Beijing), and the double signage. The worst aspect was Cost. The cruise itself was a promotional bargain, but the accounts department is a disgrace. On disembarkation day everyone was talking about how they'd had to fix their accounts. One dear old lady with a cane said she had been charged $299 for a spa treatment! We drink only moderately -- and cut down even more when we found that two single Scotches (blend, not fancy) with water on the side cost $38. We only found this out when we checked our stateroom account, as this is the first ship we have ever experienced where there is no spirits menu, with prices, and where there is no chit presented to be signed in any of the bars. Chits are presented in the restaurants, but even though I added the price ($10 per glass on the menu) to the chit before signing, I was consistently charged $12. And, while it is cheaper to buy a bottle, to cover the next two or three dinners, the bottles seem to be very easily lost somewhere backstage. And now comes a strong warning. I used a debit card linked to my checking account, to avoid the surcharge that comes with using a credit card. The my horror, when I checked my bank account after getting home, I found that while the total on my shipboard account had been taken out on disembarkation day, throughout the cruise TEN other charges had been made, ranging from $8.62 to $130.47. None of them seemed to relate to the actual shipboard account -- the figures simply didn't match. All ten were "pending" so when I phoned my bank, I was able to freeze them. Then I phoned Princess, as the bank officer urged me to do, and was told that these were "holding" charges, and that I would be repaid after the next five working days. Well, I shall be watching my bank statements, meantime, and unfreeze the card if what I was told turns out to be true. But a checking account is an everyday one, with other charges coming in, which makes the reduced balance a problem. Worse still, if this happens during the long world cruise, this double billing is going to really snarl up the finances back home. It is a crazy policy, as it means that we will be doing as little shopping as possible, and definitely cutting down on drinks. Meantime, I will inquire further. If this double-billing does not happen with credit cards, then I will change from debit to credit, and swallow the extra cost. Unfortunately, as my husband says, it has soured our experience on Majestic Princess, and made us nervous about the next one. I am glad to have Cruise Critic to air our concerns, and strongly recommend their cruise roll calls, with their friendly and useful message boards. Read Less

We are a younger couple who didn’t not fit the average customer for this cruise. The cruise was full with older people, didn’t really appreciate our presence. If it wasn’t the passengers giving the side eye it was the crew. They must not expect us to spend money in this way as well. We chose this cruise for port locations. Next time we would choose to travel independently. Take a flight and stay at our destination. You get more of a geninue incounter with the land and people. Select members of crew were outstanding. Food was mediocre. Crew is trained to upsell you on EVERYTHING. Ship was clean. Available time to relax was perfect. Board game/game selection was outstanding. Onboard activities can be a little repetitive and cheesy. Wasn’t any real options for our age group except for drinking- we don’t drink a lot. We adored the center ballroom which always seemed to have older couples floating across the dance floor. Read Less

We sailed on the Regal Princess in June this year and wanted to compare vessels. From the very first impressions it was obvious this ship was indeed designed for the Chinese gambling market, a beautiful ship none the less but has missed out in many ways. The theatre (Princess) was small and the seating reminded me of a budget airline and as about as comfortable. One of the bars in the atrium is a converted juice bar ( a terrible waste of space ) and sitting at the bar with an other couple was difficult because of a large glass showcase taking up most of the available counter. The French restaurant on the same level was always empty. The atrium is typical of Princess so no further comment Our cabin was a mini suite, mid ship and on deck 15. Very comfortable and nicely fitted out but the overhang from the walkway obscured any vertical view. The crew were fantastic as usual and often went beyond. The wife and I had booked the Harmony restaurant (Chinese banquet) for our final night and were disappointed at the standard - most of the courses were sent back as too cold or inedible. Entertainment was mediocre at best but I'm sure Princess are working on it. Makes me think they are trying to cut costs. We have travelled many times with this cruise line (three time this year) and have noticed a decline in the standards offered Read Less

I chose this cruise because it was the right time of the year for me - just before summer in NZ and getting cold in the Pacific Northwest where I live. Everything was handled perfectly from embarking to disembarking which is quite a feat considering the huge number of passengers. The cabin, dining, entertainment were A-1. I have many food allergies but the chefs and servers ensured I never had a problem. I enjoyed every port and the excellent entertainment on board. But most impressive were the Captain and every crew member I met. I felt like royalty. The only thing that would have made this cruise better for me would be to have an extra day in each port. So much to do in so little time. I did notice that people had to wait a long time for elevators and that seating in the Piazza area was quite limited at times. I personally am still able to take the stairs and did so most of the time. Thanks to using the stairs (and the exercise room) I pigged out on the fine dining guilt free and never gained an ounce! Thank you Majestic Princess for an awesome time! Read Less
