I love princess as a cruise line. I have completed over 30 cruises in my lifetime so far. I have tried multiple cruise ship companies and Princess is on of my favourites. They seem to get the balance of Classy, fun and relaxing correct every time. This one was a short 5days to Tasmania. This is definitely not long enough. It would be great to see a longer cruise itinerary for this location with more to see. You just start to relax and then it is time to get off. It’s really on 4 days as the 1st day is boarding the ship. We booked the enclave this time and it was incredible. As Tasmania is freezing. It was lovely to have a warm pool, steam room and sauna to relax in each day. It is also really quite private due to the extra expense. It is really worth it. Our cabin was prime position. We got a balcony cabin right near the back lifts. There was no outside noise from the lifts at all and it was only a few floors away from the market place above us and the traditional dining restaurant below us. Renato our cabin steward was fantastic. This ship is one of the newer in the fleet so is beautiful and in great condition. There are more passengers on this ship than some of the smaller ones so this can slow down service. However, I was on this ship a year ago and you can see massive improvements since the last time. This shows that princess really do value our feedback and take it onboard. Great to see :) If you get the chance to see Chris Watkins. Do it. He is incredible :) I have seen him twice now onboard this beautiful ship and he is incredible. Read Less

I chose princess as I had previously cruised with them in 2013 on the ruby princess by far the most amazing cruise I have ever done. I loved the itinerary and have always wanted to cruise with Princess up to the barrier reef. The majestic princess looked amazing new clean we were very excited to be on the ship. This was a huge disappointment the ship is catered for an Asian market so the food was of the lower standard The entertainment was boring and the staff unfriendly. Also we felt like we were on a moving nursing home everyone on the ship was so old it was truly a geriatric cruise even my 71-year-old mother felt out of place. The entertainment at night was so dull that they had a string duo playing at 8 pm 9 pm in the main atrium. There is also no place to dance no dedicated place to dance only in the atrium where all the ballroom dances with frustrated if you got in their way. We paid a premium price for this cruise and were highly disappointed the only thing that redeemed it was the amazing itinerary I’m not sure I want to cruise princess again which makes me feel sad because the best cruise I ever did was on the Princess ship. The food was terrible just terrible my carnival cruise was better food,Actually even the p&o and MSC was better. So disappointed such an Asian ship it does not belong in the Australian market its really catered to the asian market. It was a floating nursing home a geriatric flop with bad food and boring entertainment the only good entertainment was zinger band they were amazing. . Read Less

This cruise was booked so that we could relax & unwind & we certainly were able to do that. The shore tours that we booked were well worth the cost, especially the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary & also the Crocodile Safari Cruise. The chance to be up close with a koala who was actually awake & hand feed a kangaroo & also see crocodiles in their natural environment was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed Alfredo’s Pizzeria & the Crown Grill was a great experience. Alfredo’s was included dining but the extra charge for Crown Grill was definately worth it as the waiters were very attentive. Despite Majestic being a large ship & there being 3500 passengers on board we never felt that it was over crowded or that we were unable to find seating for meals in the buffet or the theatre. We would cruise on Majestic Princess again in a heart beat. Read Less

The ship is new and very impressive. Staterooms were bigger that SEA princess and SUN princess. Both my wife and I enjoy keeping fit whilst on board. I was appalled that to use the sauna I would have to pay $199. You can not purchase a day pass to use the sauna or steam room. The Majestic also had fewer fresh water dispenses than SEA and SUN. At breakfast you were not able to serve yourself orange juice. The food was not of the high standard that I had experienced on previous Princess Cruises. The ship was full and it appeared that staff were struggling to cope with demand. At dinner our waiter had too many tables to cater for and we often had to wait long periods for drink service. The destinations were excellent in particular Milford Sound and Tauranga. In summary I would not recommend the Majestic Princess. Read Less

It was to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary and was a perfect choice. We were married in NZ so it felt right cruising back on the fabulous Majestic Princess. We weren’t disappointed, the food, service and entertainment was first class, just loved it. At night we dined in the Allegro dining room and it was the highlight of our day, the food and waiter service. We then went to the show of the night, not to be missed, great entertainment. The Hollywood Pool Club was such a relaxing area during the day, a heated indoor pool and spa, pleasant ambience to read etc. On our anniversary, balloons and a notice was put on our cabin door. We booked in to Harmony, a special restaurant that night and enjoyed it so much, wow. The waiters presented us with a little chocolate cake with a candle and sang Happy Anniversary. Everyone was so helpful on the ship, nothing was a problem, everything was so clean and we felt safe. For us, the cruise ports were all interesting, the weather was perfect and we enjoyed our shore excursions. Probably the highlights, and there were many, were the Sounds, Taieri Railway, Akaroa, Te Papa, Waiheke Island and the Bay of Islands, the Hole in the Rock excursion. The Art Deco in Napier we loved and all the volunteers who were there to meet the ship in every port made it special. I hadn’t been to Mt Maunganui and Tauranga, loved it. Very impressed with the embarkation and disembarkation, went like clockwork, congratulations to all involved. A really memorable cruise, we will be back! Read Less

While we thoroughly enjoyed our cruise on the Regal in the Baltic, and the Royal in the Mediterranean, the addition of an enclosed conservatory on the Majestic, with full length floor to ceiling windows, allowed us to enjoy this trip even more. New Zealand, especially in Milford Sound can be very cold, even in March, and being able to enjoy the views from the warm conservatory, was a highlight. It is an adults only area, and is a quiet space to read, or play board games, as well as relax on comfy sofas or swim in the undercover pool. We were blessed with good weather, so were able to enter all the ports and enjoy all the excursions of some unique destinations. We enjoyed traditional dining, as well as the noodle bar (yummy broth soups), international cafe, buffets, Crown Grill, Le Mer (french). All meals were of a high standard. The service was impeccable, and the staff could not do enough to ensure we were well looked after. Even finding us at the back of the Lido deck, watching a movie, and going off to find some blankets for us, in case it became cool during the evening. We thought out obstructed view deluxe balcony stateroom might not compare to our previous mini suites, but it was very roomy, with a sofa and a balcony and the obstruction was only partial. Housekeeping staff were friendly and efficient, which makes all the difference when living in a small space for 2 weeks, to come back to a tidy and clean space. Sydney is a busy place to embark, due to limited space, but it didn't take very long to go through passport/security. Our accommodation, booked through Princess, was very nice, and in a great location for sightseeing, in the Rocks/Circular Quay. It was super nice having the Princess Team pick us up from the airport. Highly recommended. The Majestic is a very large ship, so my only recommendation to those intending to travel on it, is to do your research and read the daily newsletter, to keep on top of the many options available for being entertained. It would be easy to miss some outstanding talent/activities. The Princess Theater Shows were of a very high standard, and it was worth getting to the theater a little early to ensure a seat. The dance party nights (Beatles and Abba) were fabulous fun. Even those using walkers made sure they got up to dance and wiggle the night away. There are many choices for excursions. We loved the sheep farm visit/Christchurch, Speights Brewery in Dunedin, Napiers fertile fruit/wine growing tours, Wellington wharf and Cable car ride/museum, Auckland for shopping, Mt Manganui itself is beautiful, if you don't want to go to Rotorua, Bay of Islands /Waitangi Treaty grounds visit was exceptional, as we had a Maori guide. The Museum there is also a knockout if you like history, Read Less

MAJESTIC PRINCESS We did this trip for our 25th anniversary. Thanks to the Princess staff for the lovely banner and balloons. EMBARKATION was poor due to us receiving the wrong wharf information. We had Prince’s wharf in our itinerary but the day before we received an email telling us it was now Queen’s wharf. After being dropped at Queens Wharf, we had to trawl our suitcases through the busy ferry terminal to get to where the ship actually was on Prince’s wharf. Not sure what that was all about. Once at the right place everything went very smoothly. DISEMBARKATION was good. We booked the Princess airport transfer as it was only a few dollars more than public transport would have cost us and meant we were basically ship to airport (without getting too wet). Cabin L228 Cabin was comfortable and our steward Gomez was excellent. Bed was comfortable to sleep in but pillows were poor. One feather, one foam. I dislike feather but foam was not firm enough for me. Bathroom was extremely tight and neither of us are large people. Plenty of hanging space but not many drawers. Small fridge in cabin. Two USB ports but neither worked. Windows in need dire of cleaning, very annoying when going through the fiordlands. Also deck balcony glass impossible to see through and as you sit at a low level very annoying. The buffet marketplace is well set out so people have areas to go for what they want. Food choices ever changing and difficult to get to try everything or you would explode. Food is enjoyable, plenty of choices for all tastes. Just lacking seasoning but that is understandable due to the numbers aboard. Dining rooms are well decorated and spacious. Found food to be bland and either under cooked or over cooked. I have dietary requirements and tried to speak to the maître de as requested on the first and second nights in dining room. This did not happen and I was given food I am allergic too. After this everything was sorted out for me in the dining room. Harmony restaurant was enjoyable and worth the money. People we met liked the Le Mer food. Lots of small food places to get burgers, hotdogs, ice cream, noodles. Bakery cakes looked superb but were sometimes not quite as tasty as they looked. Loved Alfredo’s on deck 6. Great pizza and veal tortellini. Drinks packages are available but you need to work out for yourself if they are worth it. We didn’t buy one. Plenty of places to sit and read, have a drink, or play games. Laundry facilities on are all decks 7-15 at rear of boat. Some are larger than others. Very easy to use as you swipe your ships card to buy tokens for washers and dryers and powder, bleach and dryer sheets. Could do with more dryers though as wash takes 30-35mins and dryers 40-45mins. Causing a backlog waiting for dryers. The ship itself is clean and quite pretty. Crooners lounge was always good for a quiet pre dinner drink. Crown Grill was more pub like and livelier. Did an English pub lunch on two occasions which we never tried. Hollywood adults area on deck 17 at front was relaxing. The pool and hot tubs were lovely. Lounge area lacking enough of the comfortable loungers. Smoking area is outside on 17 starboard and if you forgot and went out the wrong doors you got a face full of smoke. Main pool area is spacious but busy on a sunny day. Liked the skywalk. Overall the ship was well appointed and enjoyable and we would sail on her again. Crew were overall polite but not overly friendly like other cruises we have been on. Downside. Usual problems with finding a seat at certain entertainments. Atrium activities and Princess Theatre shows especially. Something needs to be done as some people were saying they had seen the early show and went again for the later show. This left people standing in the aisles which blocked those sitting at the back. Surely a ticketing system using your cruise card could be designed so you could only get in once unless there was space. Spoke to a staff member but felt I was being humoured. Another staff member did come and move those standing in our view. Would travel on this ship again. TAURANGA Ship actually docks at Mt Manganui so you need to get shuttle or taxi into Tauranga itself. Just walked off ship. Nice seaside area with good coffee shops. We walked to the top of Moturiki Island then had a coffee. This is main port for Hobbiton which we had done prior to cruise. WELLINGTON Went on free shuttle into town. Rode cable car to top of hill then walked down through Botanical gardens. Stopped for a cup of tea in the rose garden then had a stroll to Old St Pauls church then we caught shuttle bus back to ship after a short ride around Wellington. AKAROA You tender in at this port so allow time if you book a private tour. We had organised to ride a V8Trike with Marty. We did the 1hr ride which was great. We then had lunch in town, lovely fish and chips and green lip mussels. Very easy to walk around this small quaint town. DUNEDIN Unfortunately we did not make this port due to a fog bank which caused us to miss the tide to get into dock. FIORDLANDS Cruising through the three sounds on a beautiful sunny day was wonderful. The ship cruises one way through DUSKY and DOUBTFUL sounds then has to turn around in MILFORD sound. Meaning you see everything twice or everything from your balcony. HOBART We booked a ship shore excursion to Mt Wellington and the Botanic gardens. We had to clear customs here which held the tours up by a small amount of time. Whilst enjoyable and I thought good value for money, I felt hurried in the gardens and we lacked time on Mt Wellington. The tour was booked as Mt Wellington then Botanic Gardens and we planned to spend extra time at the gardens then make our own way back to the ship. This obviously didn’t happen as we did the gardens first. DAYS AT SEA are relaxing days or there was plenty going on if that is your choice. Read Less

This was our first Princess cruise. Princess offered a land tour of Australia that had the cities we were interested in along with cruising to New Zealand. The tour guide was awesome and we really enjoyed the land tour. The descriptions of the excursions weren't exactly accurate. Or maybe we read too much into the descriptions. The transition from plane to hotel when we arrived was very smooth. The planes and hotels on the land tour were adequate. Make sure you pack a hand scale for your luggage because Qantas is very strict on the weights! Especially for the carry ons! The Sydney tour included the Opera House - but it was ONLY a drive by which was disappointing. We did have time after dropping off our luggage at the ship and then walked to the Opera House! This was really convenient to be able to drop the luggage off and then be able to do some exploring of the wharf at Sydney. The cruise ship itself is so beautiful! The Piazza is the hub of activity for the cruise. They constantly have something going on so you can always participate or just watch. I did feel sorry for the diners - the specialty restaurants - they are right there and it is VERY noisy. The shops are all very, very, very expensive, top end shops and you hardly saw anyone in there. Very little that average people could afford. This ship was built for the Oriental market - and did not transition well for the Australian market! The food was bland - and most options were seafood - which is great if you are a seafood lover, but not so much if you are a beef lover. And there is NO true cream for coffee. I observed that if you got "white" coffee, it was with skim milk. If you asked for cream - it was whole milk. If you insisted on cream - you got this clotted cream that would not dissolve in coffee. Also, by using the milk in your coffee, they kept it cold so your coffee was lukewarm, at best. Very little ice in iced drinks, you have to ask for ice. Most drinks were cool or room temp. The pizzeria on board was very formal. It was good, but very formal - linen table clothes, waiters dressed formally - not what you were expecting. The dining rooms were also very formal - and our waiter was as personable as mud. Our room steward was awesome! The buffet was divided into 2 sections - one was a "bistro" that had more sandwiches, lighter fare. But the food was mainly the same day after day after day after day. And bland, bland, bland. The only time I detected seasoning was the garlic which they used a lot of! The entertainment was produced very well, but not really our liking, but it was put on with a lot of costumes, music and lights! The excursions were awesome, but usually left right after we docked and got back with only 30-60 minutes before we had to be on board. Most of the port cities did NOT have shops by the docks, so we got very little shopping done. And no of the port cities opened up for the ship - like other ports we have been in. They would open late and close early - which made it impossible for those that did excursions. Princess did do an awesome job of getting the people to their excursions - always meeting in the Theater and taken out by group to their buses or trains. Wine was VERY expensive - the cheapest bottle was $42 and only a few at that price. IF they had a daily drink special, it was not advertised - and did NOT have anyone coming by with the shot specials at dinner. Was disappointed also in the deserts - they were presented beautifully, but not much taste. Our tour group discussed this a lot - most agreed that the deserts almost tasted the same. I only saw cheesecake offered once???? It seemed that presentation was their goal! The everyday menu offered a sirloin steak that was tough and chewy. The roasted chicken was huge, but no seasoning. The fettuccine was good, but not offered with chicken or shrimp. The bread rolls were all crusty, and always the same selection - every night. I would ask for ice tea and they would give me a straw to stir in my sugar????? Finally, got them to give me a small desert spoon. I enjoyed the cruise, but a little too high end for me - I don't mind dressing up for formal nights, but didn't want every night to be on the formal setting - not with dress but with the formal, attitude of the wait staff. My family needed a cruise suitable for our range of ages and tastes and this family friendly, low stress cruise absolutely matched our needs. Very clean ship inside and out with friendly staff and fun entertainers. We travelled from Sydney, Australia to Melbourne and Hobart and then went to New Zealand getting stops at Port Chalmers, Akaroa, Tauranga and Auckland. There was a large variety of activities that suited the seniors in our group as well as the younger cousins, too. From Zumba to Bingo to jaw-dropping production shows, we were thoroughly entertained onboard. Food was easy to acquire and change to our tastes as necessary for those with food allergies. I am pleased to note that there were accessible shore excursions and the entire ship was accessible for people with mobility issues. The outside and inside of the ship were truly majestic, with details everywhere to enhance the experience for guests of any culture. Read Less

Those that travel on a Princess Ship know that a lot of activities take place in the Atrium. Apart from the 1st day (embarkation) it was hard to believe there were more than 3,700 passengers on board. She is a big elegant ship. After a while you don't think anything off the size. She is another beautiful Princess Cruise Ship. Staff are great and friendly. Cabin lovely, bed comfortable. We had a balcony as I enjoy sea days (if fine) relaxing on our balcony. Entertainment right up there with the best. Food will, what can I say..always delicious. So many choices. Loved the Hollywood pool and area. Love the pool in the Lotus area. Well worth the money. We had perfect weather from the time we left Sydney. Such smooth waters 99.9% of the time. We will look forward to our next cruise on the Elegant Majestic. :-) My ratings for excellent is because we cant fault our time on our cruise... Read Less

This ship was amazing, great restaurants, buffet area and of course delicious food. The decor and furnishings all over the ship were well thought out and very stylish. Comfortable cabin and luxurious bed.The Ports we visited were good but we were disappointed that we couldn’t visit Fiordland National Park because of bad weather but better to be safe. Sea days had activities, pool games and movies and concerts on the big screen. The adults only area was one of the best I’ve seen. Pool, spa, bar, lounges, tables and chairs, board games and again great decor. The fitness centre had plenty of great exercise equipment, and a great amount of treadmills. Always very clean. The entertainment was the best that I have seen on a cruise. There was a Neil Diamond, Dolly Parton, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Freddie Mercury tribute shows. The entertainment cast and band were also very talented. I travelled with my husband and there weren’t to many children on the cruise. We would definitely cruise on this amazing ship again and again. Sailed to NZ on the Majestic Princess over the new year. It was the first time we had been on a cruise and it far exceeeded our expectations. Service and staff were excellent and probably the best thing about the boat. Enjoyed the entertainment we saw ranging from comedians to magicians and singers. Did not get to see the musicals only because it’s not our thing however we heard they were good. Fine dining and specialty dining was very good with the exception of Harmony which we did not rate being spoilt by excellent Chinese’s food in Australia. I suggest anytime dining rather than set times as it was tricky at times to coincide eating with going to shows. Loved the Italian Pizza restaurant NZ was spectacular and the excursions we did through the boat were well organised and really good. Cooking school at Akaroa was a highlight and was booked via the ship. Our self tours were also great and there are lots of options once you left the shop to self book things and tours. Rooms were a good size we thought and well designed with lots of wardrobe space and balcony was good enough for us- would def8nitley always go a balcony room for future cruising Remember to have money left in AUs or NZ dollars for a tip for exceptional service from staff at the end as we were a bit disorganised with this. We did not do the drinks package but maybe in hindsight we would in future as we love a cocktail however you are able to byo with corkage at ports for bottled wine and bubbles which we only realised towards the end of the cruise. Only negative we had was pools way too small for the Aussie market and inside pool was like a swim centre but definitely would book with Princess again. Read Less

We chose the cruise for the destination as we wanted to be in Sydney for the New Year Celebration and the cruise ended on December 30th. I was very disappointed in the Lotus Spa on this ship. I booked a 90 minute massage and upon my arrival was shown to the co-ed “relaxing” area. This was not a spa atmosphere - more like a doctor’s office waiting room. No nice bathrooms to relax in, not even in the treatment room. Totally co-ed. No free use of whirl pool, sauna or steam room, but you could buy a week pass for $199 to use them (The Enclave”). Was told by spa personnel that this ship wasn’t like the other Princess ship spas and they needed to control the amount of people using the spa whirlpool, etc and that is why they charged for them. However, the message was wonderful! Just wish I could have relaxed before my message. Felt very disappointed about that. Hollywood Pool Club was Adult only, no charge and it was lovely. Very relaxing and serene and no charge. I just chose to lounge and read a book. We did pay extra for Club Class but did enjoy not having to wait at all for a table for anytime dining. It was really nice to have a special section reserved for Club Class. The waiters were phenomenal! We sailed over Christmas and felt that they did a wonderful job with Christmas decorations and celebrating Christmas. Christmas Carols were sung and everyone joined in. On Christmas morning Santa appeared in the atrium and had a gift for every child under 12 yrs. Every child got to take pictures with Santa and his helpers. It’s a beautiful ship but felt crowded in the corridor the public areas. Personally, too big of a ship for me. Will definitely use Princess again but will sail on the smaller ships. Our ages are 59-65. Read Less

Clean rooms, clean EVERYTHING!, friendly staff, amazing food, good entertainment (mostly), and great ports. The dine in meals were very well presented as was the service provided by the wait staff. I was told that the Marketplace dining could be a bit 'cattle trough' on other ships so was interested to see. marketplace dining was amazing. The variety of food, well presented and an everchanging menu made it a fabulous choice for any meal. Room stewards went the extra mile every day, making our cruise a delight. Cocktails were a highlight each day. My only criticisms are that the adult indoor pool could have been warmer as the weather was quite cool, and I was disappointed that there was no happy hour. We chose this cruise, because we wanted to cruise to New Zealand and also be on the Majestic Princess. We now can enjoy her more in March, for our cruise to Hong Kong. The embarkation was a breeze, in that we walked straight up to the check in counter, completed processing in little more than five minutes and walked straight aboard. Likewise, disembarking was also easy, although we found ourselves waiting in the carpark for quite a while for our transport. This was our error in disembarking early. The ship is very well presented with an abundance of polished brass, glass and marble along with timber finishes. Our interior cabin had more than enough space, although the bathroom was just a bit squeezy. Another 100 mm in all directions would make a huge difference. Our dining experiences were very good to excellent. There was certainly many choices of fine foods available from the Market Place to the Dining Rooms. The entertainment on the Majestic was very good to excellent. The Princess Orchestra was particullarly of very high standard indeed. Only one act left us unimpressed, but I will not name that, as others may have enjoyed it. Activities were superb, with much to choose from. Trivia, Liar's Club etc by the Entertainment Crew was most enjoyable. We found the service onboard to be excellent. Our room steward, Glenn, was a real kind gentleman. We were particularly amazed how a wonderful young lass, Min, remembered us from our cruise to Hawaii on the Golden Princess a year ealrier. Amazing indeed. We were very pleased with the ports and excersions in New Zealand. we nedd to repeat this cruise to partake in further experiences in New Zealand. Oh, did I say we loved it? Oh yes, we did love this cruise. Read Less

The ship was excellent though too big. We had a balcony cabin on the 16th floor very good with unobstructed views. The staff couldn't be faulted.always smiling even though 50% of elderly passengers were rude and demanding without manners.!!! The children on board were better behaved with better manners than some adults. Not enough seating in the indoor entertainment area's of the ship.(piazza and the theatre's) had to get to an area for the show you wanted to see at least 45mins early. No area around the ship for a good walk the promanade deck only went up each side of the ship and very narrow. The market dining area we felt left left a lot to be desired. most food cooked in oils or butter, no plain or steamed food, no sandwich making facilities. Even though there were several area's of choice the food daily was same, same. The resturaunts were fantastic especially the pizza and sympony dining.the hamburger bar on the deck was good too. Too many people just walking in the dining area's without washing there hands. worry about nova virus with poor hand hygiene. The excursions were fantastic and the tour guides very good value for money and saw a lot of the islands. The ships staff getting you on and of the ship did a fantastic job with the number of people most of them very pushy and rude to the staff and other passengers. We went on this cruise to celebrate our 50th wedding had a fantastic day but because of limited entertainment seating indoors when the weather was too cold to sit on deck we spent most afternoons in our cabin watching the TV . could have done that at home.will go on another princess cruise but will go on a smaller ship. Getting on and off the ship was expidited with reasonable speed at the begining and end of the voyage. couldn't fault that. Overall feeling was that the ship catered for the Chinese and American market rather than the Australian. Read Less

We have sailed on the Royal and loved it. We knew Majestic was different as designed for a Chinese market but did not expect how little was avaliable. The Piasa has 3 bars, most closed at 2200. There is no Wheelhouse bar. No casino bar. No Vista Lounge bar. Crooners is a converted high rollers bar which is a thoroughfare from the theatre and had a high screen running through the middle which stopped people seeing the piano. No dance floor. 3 pool bars. Trivia was in Princess live for the first week then moved to Vista. Table service was very slow as crew had to get drinks from the Crown Grill bar. Bingo was an after thought and the first games were a disaster. 1 production show per week. No Night Club. The only dance floor was the Piasa. International cafe is great for a snack and Vines for a drink. The paid French restaurant was a thoroughfare so people walked through as you dined. There was a band who were fantastic who played in various venues including the pool. Varied artists playing piano, singing and violins. Princess staples. Nightlife was centred in the converted Crooners with the fabulous Tonya on piano until 12pm then DJ Chris. Dancing on carpet was a pain. On average the bar closed around 1am. Sanctuary has also been removed and is a public area but get there early as seats are taken early. For those of you who smoke the choice was an uncovered area on 17 which for most of the time was either to hot or a wind tunnel. The other on 7 was semi protected but no chairs. The deck chairs wooden tables were the only seating. Chairs were brought in a week into the cruise. They also opened another area on 17 with tables and chairs plus ashtrays. If you cruise with Princess you are used to multable areas to gather, drink and dance. Majestic has removed most of these. 22 days became very long. If you only want to sit, read this ship is for you. If like me you like to dance this ships not for you. We did have fun and met some amazing people and as bars and entertainment was limited we made our own fun. There is one redeeming feature of Majestic and that was the crew. As the realisation of the many missing Princess staples became apparent and many passengers became disheartened the crew made all attempts to raise the spirit of the ship. We named the ship the Majestic guinea pig as management juggled areas, venues limited as they were and entertainment to try to offer a come back new experience. The load was mainly Australian and as such we like to party. This is not a party ship. Again I cannot fault the crew. Read Less

Have cruised with Princess many times and always had a great time. This new ship was built for the Chinese market at it shows. Poorly staffed, beds too hard, boarding process in Shanghai was abysmal. It did improve as the cruise progressed, but was a really bad start. I would not take Children on a Princess Cruise, average age of passengers is in their 80's. Way too many zimmer frames and wheel chairs and heart attacks and diversions for medical evacuations. That said, the cabin was good, although the mattress was way too hard and was not up to the standard of the promoted Princess Luxury mattress. Dining was fine food was wonderful, not enough staff in the first couple of days. Entertainment was average with only 3 production shows for the entire 22 days. Would I cruise again, yes, with Princess - not sure. They will need to reduce the number of old people first. Read Less

SHIP: We chose this cruise as we had not visited any of the destinations previously, save for Brisbane where we remained on board. The ship is indeed a large vessel, but that's the way its going these days. The crew had been used to servicing Asian customers who generally have a different cultural expectation to that of westerners. There were approximately 2700 Aussies on board with the next group being Americans numbering only approximately 90. I think the crew did a magnificent job accommodating and adapting to the expectations of the Aussie passengers, although it did take a few days. There were many complainers on board that we noticed, but hey as other reviewers of other vessels say, look for the positives and not the negatives. CABIN: We booked M130 a deluxe balcony cabin. This was well appointed, tho a little smaller than the equivalent on Pacific Pearl. Standard features, Large comfy bed and couch with a smallish balcony containing two chairs and a small table. Our cabin Steward was attentive and friendly and provided for all our requests. DINING: We chose anytime dining and the "World Fresh Marketplace" provided a wide and varied choice for all meals. A favorite being the bakery which had a large selection of cakes and sweets to follow your meals with. The other dining choices including Crown Grill and Harmony Chinese were of a great standard and ample food was served at our 2 sittings for each of these. We did not try LaMer simply because we are not fond of French cuisine. The other eateries including Alfredo's Pizzeria and the Burger Bar and International cafe were also of a high standard serving a variety of choices. ENTERTAINMENT & ACTIVITIES: We found the entertainment on-board to be of a high standard. The shows in the main theatre were great. We did not like the american entertainer (pianist) in the crooners bar as she did not know the words to songs she was playing, and repeated the same performance for all 22 nights we were aboard. Also if we wanted karaoke we would have gone else where. Using passengers to supplement her inabilities did not go down well with not only us but others we were sitting near. One of the older american passengers ,named Francine, she used managed to racially slur the whole Asian population and this was inappropriate. Hopefully she will not be aboard any future cruises we undertake. Overall, however, the entertainment standard was high and varied enough to provide a choice every night for the whole 22 night cruise. SERVICE: The crew were impeccable in their willingness to be best with their service. Particularly we would like to mention Nenad in the International Cafe and Sascha in the gift shop. These two gentlemen went out of there way to accommodate requests and help us with purchases on board. All of the crew and hotel staff were friendly and courteous when we needed assistance. A big thanks to the medical staff on board who assisted us with an injury we sustained on the tender transfer into NhaTrang. PORTS & EXCURSIONS: This trip we only took Princess Shore Excursions and we found these to be interesting and informative. Only one tender transfer was required at NhaTrang and although it was hot and humid we managed this without major hiccup. We thoroughly enjoyed this cruise, and yes we were aware of issues at boarding in Shanghai, however this is something the Chinese authorities need to address and Princess need to keep abreast of. We heard many passengers complaining about things that to us seemed insignificant, so again I say look for the positives people not the negatives. If that's what you set out to do you are bound to have a crap holiday. We on the other hand enjoyed ourselves thoroughly and would sail again on this class of vessel if the itinerary appealed to us. We chose Majestic Princess again as we had cruised on her maiden voyage a year ago. It's a wonderful ship and there are so many restaurants and bars to visit that you will never be bored. The production shows are some of the best we have seen and the visiting artists were all very good. One of the other reasons we chose this ship was that we were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary and wanted to do it in style. We opted to do a vow renewal ceremony and we couldn't have chosen a better ship to do it on. The ceremony was amazing; the attention to detail from the Princess staff was simply mind blowing! They brought in fresh roses for my bouquet plus roses and orchids for decoration in the Hollywood Conservatory from Hong Kong where we had docked 2 days before. We were greeted on arrival by all the officers in their dress uniform; our music of choice was playing and our friends were all seated comfortably. Captain Craig Stuart then performed the ceremony and my husband is still convinced that it was better than our wedding in 1968 so that's saying something! If you are thinking of getting married or having a vow renewal ceremony then there is no better place to do it than on a Princess cruise ship! Read Less

From embarcation in Shanghai, where no one from princess could be found. You had to shove and push your way for over 500 metres inside terminal. People in wheelchairs pushing there luggage through the terminal with not even 1 staff member from princess to even tell you you where in the right terminal! No queues, just passengers pushing and shoving. The captain blamed the late arrival of the ship. The real reason, princess crew to lazy to help, and couldn’t be bothered to send anybody to take luggage on outside of terminal , staff to help people to properly que up, or just to direct people to right terminal! Most passengers only found the right terminal because they went to terminal 1 where another ship was embracing passengers. I have to tell you that the 3 terminals are probably 1 kilometre apart!. We took 3 1/2 hours to board, others took up to 5 hours to board. This ship was a nightmare. Don’t be fooled. This ship has no public space to the amount of people she carries. Everywhere you go there are no seats to sit. On sea days you que for everything, from a cup of coffee, which takes more than 1/2 an hour, then you can’t find a seat to sit down..The grand class ship has double the public space than this ship. The food suffers the same problem, they can’t handle cooking for over 5000 thousand every meal. The food in the main dinning rooms and the buffet is very poor quality. Ships have gotten bigger, prices have come down, something has to give? If you cruised 15 years ago, and compare with what you get now. It’s like night to day! The service is exactly the same. How do they find staff for all these ships there building each year. Most of the staff don’t speak English which is a bit of a problem when most of your customers only speak English. The ques at the customers service desk for the first 5 days had to be seen to be believed. They weren’t there to say how good a job they were doing! My balcony door was broken and couldn’t get it to open. It took 3days and several phone calls to staff who barely spoke English, for them to come to fix the door. After reading the reviews on cruise critic about this ship, princess should be ashamed to have this ship in there fleet. To anyone who think this was a good ship, you need to wake up, don’t listen to there crap about how good they are, which they drum into you from the moment you walk on. This cruise is a nightmare! The region was new for my wife and I and with this being a new ship, it made it an attractive choice. It is a nice ship that was built specifically for the Asian/Chinese market. All signage is in English and Cantonese, and motif along same lines. We has sailed its sister ship Royal Princess and liked that one more. The size of this ship restricted its ability to use some ports and terminals closer to the major cities thus creating lengthy drives for excursions on this itinerary. Since the Majestic will now be based in Shanghai for next 8-9 months, we don't know if it will sail the same ports and have same docking locations. All in all we had a good time and enjoyed the facilities this ship had to offer. One major issue we had on this cruise is lack of orderly process for immigration clearance. There were no officers monitoring people arriving at scheduled times. This resulted a waiting in line for 1.5 hours to complete a 2-3 minute clearance by South Korean officials. Read Less
