Hi. guys How r u! I will tell you some words which i felt and my first impressions from majestic princess on18th September to first of November with my good friends. so sorry my poor English but i will tell you the facts which i felt my experience and uncomfortable things use simple words. The food was not fresh, the cabin is very smaller than i expected and internet speed was horrible and activities not enough. many times were toilets blocked and no toilets papers. People were so crowded can't find seat during breakfast and lunch time moreover the buffet foods were everyday same manu and some vegetable especially cabbage and pumpkin were almost gone. Moreover, the free coffee's quality was so bad indeed. However there crews were so friendly and politely anytime the shows which princess theater was pretty good. Before i take on board we expected high quality of service this ship but some parts and should be up date for next guests thanks Read Less

We chose this for a weekend away with adult kids. These dates and prices worked out at the time for us. This was our first Princess experience. For reference, we have sailed on Carnival Spirit, RC Voyager OTS, and Pacific Explorer. We had four adults in a mini-suite. The lounge became a narrow single bed, with a pullman being the fourth berth. Shower over bath. Narrow balcony. No complaints about the room. Food did not quite meet our expectations, given the hype about Princess food. The desserts were terrific. Service in the MDR terrific of course. The buffet had a very weird grid-like pattern layout, which no real logic to it. I found this area very claustrophobic. I would rate this area and the food at 2.5/5. The inside of the ship seemed very disconnected from the sea outside. Almost all of the public areas are enclosed by restaurants around the outside, or the shops. Way too many shops in my view, but I know some people love them. Even the door to exit onto the small outside (uncovered) area on deck 7 was frosted. You may as well just be in a Westfield anywhere. There did not seem to be enough public areas to suit the number of passengers and not enough shady areas outside. The lack of promenade deck adds to the challenge in this area I believe. The atrium area is very pretty but very noisy with mostly paid restaurants or the photos etc around it. Sometimes parts of this area or the access way to it was blocked off for an activity, making it even more difficult to get around on the ship. I would not want to be on this ship in poor weather as I feel the inside public areas would become very unpleasant. You would be extra glad of your balcony cabin in bad weather. As mentioned by others the theatre area seems to fall well short of requirements for the number of passengers. We saw the new show which I did enjoy. The fact that the 7.15 pm show is televised live into the Princess Live theatre indicated that the supply of seats does not meet the demand. On the other hand, some of the game shows were done in the Princess Live theatre, which seemed too small for the number of people who wished to have a seat. Hollywood Conservatory is quite pretty, although I personally am not a fan of indoor pools. Table Tennis, golf driving range, basketball court seemed to meet with approval. The Laser shooting area did not seem to be open or accessible with no explanation given. Service terrific, poolside music, movies etc good. As mentioned by others trying to get around on this ship is clunky, with corridors and walkways on both the lower and upper public decks ending abruptly. I felt almost all of the public corridors, stairwells, lift lobbies, buffett area were too narrow for the number of people trying to move around on the ship. Seawalk area and bar a nice quirk. In short, I am not too sure that this ship suits the Australian market or cruising in warm climates or scenic areas. Lucky there is a lot of balcony rooms on this ship because it may be the best spot to sit and realize that you are traveling on the ocean. (other than on deck 17). We enjoyed our first taste of Princess overall, and will do again, but probably not on this ship. Read Less

We did a 3 days cruise to no where. The ship is only 2 years old so is quite new and in good condition. Highlights were the movies under the stars, good steak at Crown Grill, quite good food at the buffet with a wide variety, good gym and other sporting activities such as golf practice range, basketball court and numerous table tennis tables. Our balcony cabin was in good condition but the pull down bed for our daughter meant it was hard to get out to the balcony when it was down. The room seemed a little small but the wardrobe was a good size and the bathroom nice and modern and clean. The shows were very good, the violinist and the dancers put on great events especially the tech based dance show. Afternoon tea in one of the dining rooms was good, nice tea, cakes and nibbles. Did not like the lack of ambience of the speciality restaurants, they open to a bar or to a walk way, too noisy. Poor service in the Crooners Bar Read Less

I chose princess as I had previously cruised with them in 2013 on the ruby princess by far the most amazing cruise I have ever done. I loved the itinerary and have always wanted to cruise with Princess up to the barrier reef. The majestic princess looked amazing new clean we were very excited to be on the ship. This was a huge disappointment the ship is catered for an Asian market so the food was of the lower standard The entertainment was boring and the staff unfriendly. Also we felt like we were on a moving nursing home everyone on the ship was so old it was truly a geriatric cruise even my 71-year-old mother felt out of place. The entertainment at night was so dull that they had a string duo playing at 8 pm 9 pm in the main atrium. There is also no place to dance no dedicated place to dance only in the atrium where all the ballroom dances with frustrated if you got in their way. We paid a premium price for this cruise and were highly disappointed the only thing that redeemed it was the amazing itinerary I’m not sure I want to cruise princess again which makes me feel sad because the best cruise I ever did was on the Princess ship. The food was terrible just terrible my carnival cruise was better food,Actually even the p&o and MSC was better. So disappointed such an Asian ship it does not belong in the Australian market its really catered to the asian market. It was a floating nursing home a geriatric flop with bad food and boring entertainment the only good entertainment was zinger band they were amazing. . Read Less

Sydney to Nth QLD September 17th 10 days We took my wife’s father on this cruise - and he was in good company. This was the oldest crowd we had ever seen on a ship. Lots of walkers, scooters, slow moving folk so don’t be in a rush. The vessel size and the ports visited meant all but 1 were disembarked/embarked by tender. Combined with the age profile of the guests and some appalling organisation by Princess made this experience really poor. We felt the itinerary was boring would never do something similar again. Even sea days were boring - its the first holiday we were happy to see the end of. The Ship Nominally 3500 pax. We have been on bigger ships however this vessel felt crowded in the public areas. It’s an “odd” sort of vessel to get around. Lots of waiting for lifts. Moving from front to back you basically have to funnel through 1 public area which makes the whole ship feel crowded. There is no external promenade deck around the vessel. The gym is excellent. There is a large number of treadmills, cross trainers, bikes etc. the weights area is a little small but well stocked. There’s a golf practice net however, ridiculously, it was so low in height that you could not make a full swing - what a waste. There is a put putt course, basket ball come racket ball court. The central piazza is typical Princess - however it was also very crowded ...always. Finally probably the worst coffee we have ever had and we tried every location on the boat. They just have no idea. We were so delighted to go ashore for a drinkable cup of coffee. The Staff Just like the standard of food there are some hits and misses with the staff. Our suite cabin steward was MIA - days would go by between glimpses and waves in the corridor. Not once did he ask how we were going, need help etc. Some of the bar staff and food waiters were great. The people at the tour desk were just plain unfriendly - they definitely need a break from the customers. Restaurants General dining Concerto/Symphony/Allegro As a suite customer we had Anytime dining - which worked out to be anytime they aren’t busy. There is absolutely no difference or value in anytime dining on this vessel. The food in the general dining restaurants was also hit and miss. I had 2 genuinely awful meals which required meals to be sent away and 2 OK ones which didn’t. The service is fine. Alfredo Casual Italian/Pizza Good quality pizza. Thin base nice sauce. Tasty egg plant parmigiana. This is a safe place for dinner. La Mer French It is on the third level of the piazza. With a band playing on first level of the piazza it was impossible to have a conversation without virtually yelling at each other. I told the maître dei no thanks see you on a quieter night. When we did eventually go to the restaurant it was OK. They had a snail agnolotti with an awsome sauce and this should have been great ...however the pasta was not aldente :-( Overall nothing special and probably not worth the cover charge. Crown Grill - The best steak on any cruise line (not that i have been on many) Every time I eat at Crown Grill I have a small fillet Mignon and swear it is the best steak I have ever eaten. Good food, great service, just love it. We had 2 meals here. The first was typical and fantastic. The second was on our final night and was pretty ordinary - they were very busy and everything was overcooked - even desert. We had two glasses of wine which were off so i sent them back - the waiter didnt appreciate it and was exceptionally rude in dealing with us. The excellent maître d' sorted it out but it shouldnt need this intervention. Harmony Chinese It was just OK. We live in Ashfield Sydney which has a large Shanghainese community so we eat fresh, vibrant Chinese food - this food was the opposite to this. Not worth the cover charge. Market Place By the standards of cruise ship buffet of the same class as Princess this is typical - and awful. The idea is a taste of worlds which is a nice idea however it just comes off as disorganised. We had 1 lunch here and that was enough for us - maybe dinner may have been better? Read Less

Cruised with Princess before, but the Majestic Princess was too big for us, very hard to navigate when your cabin is at the back of the ship. Were on Deck 12 & had to take lift to 7 and walk to the middle to get anywhere. Went with my Mum who has a walker, so could not do stairs, lifts always busy & waited a while. Atrium was far too noisy, all the action happens here. Pity there was no Promenade deck (which we did know about) did miss this one. Tender ports took too way too long to get ashore. Ticket system, waited over an hour in dining room, took about another 15 minutes or so to get to the tender and another 15-20 min to get ashore. Staff very helpful when trying to board tender. No Happy Hour, which I did miss, drinks package way too expensive for me. Drinks expensive.but managed with our OBC. Grown Grill was a wonderful experience, food excellent as well as great service. Food generally average, did have issues with consistency Staff could have been more friendly & chatty. Thanks to Arthur in the Symphony Dining Room Table 7 for lots of laughs & jokes with dinner. Balcony cabin rather small as well as balcony. Overall we did enjoy our time on board & ashore Read Less

From the warm welcome of the immediate team on emarkation to the seemless tender trips to airlie beach, port douglas, yorky's knob and others we had an unreal experience and all of our expectations were met and exceeded. There were numerous daily activities to suit just about everyone. The Princess Majestic team went out of their way to ensure every detail was covered from the food which was exceptional with great variety to the smiles from all of the team members. The rooms are extremely quiet and well equipped with the room attendant making sure towels were changed regularly as well as the bed. There was an older customer base on this cruise but you can never know that when booking. The food was great in both the marketplace and the restaurants with a great variety to suit just about everyone. We had a coffee and soda package that suited us and i think was value for money. The upper deck areas accomodated plenty of people for sunbaking etc. There were many areas you could just chill for a drink or sit with friends or hang at a bar and watch the bar tenders do tricks. We were on deck 15 in a deluxe balcony and found it to be perfect for us, easy access to food. The on board app assisted with the daily timetable so you could easily check what was on for the day from art and jewellery auctions to bingo. Shore excursions could be prebooked for day trips or make your own way. We have booked another cruise on a different ship but look forward to going on the Majestic again next year in 2020. The Majestic handled well in rough seas on the first night and then it was smooth sailing, i recommend the 10 day from Sydney to Brisbane, Airlie Beach, Cairns, Port Douglas, yorky's knob and Willis island. I thought the destinations were interesting and had enjoyed previous princess cruises. This ship was not as pleasant. Bed was too narrow, pillows dreadful & music deafeningly loud. Comedians crude and rude. Not many shows mainly single entertainers catering to one nationality not everyone. Excellent violinist Katei and singer Chris Powey were the standouts. Entertainment in theatre generally poor Evening trivia fun. Trivia in general pretty good. Library was devoid of books some people took out 8 not one at a time, others struggled to find one. Food was sometimes cold on delivery in dining room. Layout on Lido was confusing. Staff generally helpful and pleasant but under pressure from full ship 3500 persons Music around the ship was deafening especially drums. Hard to have a conversation at times. Plenty of dancing at others. Improved cafe service in that food is no longer extra charge and a good selections available. Good in that there was in general plenty of seating. Great area on deck 17 for relaxing tho not big enough so be quick! Great gym, plenty of good equipment. Good massages in spa, watch out for added gratuity even if you didn’t agree to it. Added charges and instant credit card charges plus extra tax on the use of ship card every purchase. Felt as if herded into an environment where folk were pressured to buy and a forced gaiety required. I’ve cruised many times this was the least enjoyed one. The shore excursion for Crazy Rich Asian fans was disappointing One other excursion was cancelled due to lack of numbers. Health was a priority but people not always careful, bad chesty coughs prevalent, some unwell guests thro that. I would not choose this ship to cruise on if I could avoid it. Chosen because it was new and offered destinations of interest. Renee@NZ Read Less

We embarked on this cruise in Shanghai, and the embarkation was a fiasco (even with priority boarding) but the Chinese authorities do seen to be able to make every simple process more complicated ( we had the same when entering the country via the airport) Now to the ship and cruise, firstly these mega liners from the princess fleet are very ugly, no classic lines to them just like a floating tenement block from the 1960''s, only not grey concrete in colour., they are well appointed inside and we have no issue in this respect. The ship is big and this means a hike ( and a packed lunch) every time you wish to visit a new venue, not a problem for us but people with mobility problems should be aware of this, also with this amount of passengers expect crowded venues, we did not see any shows due to a lack of seating in the theater, and us not being prepared to stand in queue for an hour before each performance. Food was acceptable, but nowhere near as good as two or three years ago, seems as though you have to pay extra for what was the norm then. We hate the way they try to up-sell. The cruise its self was as we expected, no trouble with the destinations (there could have been more) but on the whole OK. In general we left felling a bit disenfranchised with Princess this time, and this is after a long time cruising with them, it is sorry to say making us now look to other cruise lines for the experience that we now find lacking with princess Read Less

People spitting on floor whilst sitting in spa, people spitting on carpet in marketplace buffet, people blowing snot from nose and spitting in hand basin that you are expected to wash hands in prior to entering food court, Casino door continually left open and smoke streaming out into main atrium, children allowed to run riot on dance floor after 10pm. Princess usually has dress standards for dining rooms. None applied on this cruise, you could wear singlet top basket ball shorts and slip on sandals, jeans T-shirt’s and you’d be allowed in. We ended up staying away from pool and spa as we couldn’t stomach the snorting and spitting, it made our stomach turn. We spent majority of time in our cabin watching movies. We ate in the dining rooms onboard 5 times and each time the food was luke warm/cold. The staff were doing the best they could with the circumstances they had to deal with. Marketplace Buffet had a huge variety of food choices but trying to get a seat after you had selected your food was a challenge. Some passengers refused to share tables and made it very had for the staff. The amount of food left on peoples plates was terrible to see. We were in cabin E416, our Steward Rommel was amazing, he actually made our cruise. Princess is very lucky to have him he went over and above in every aspect of looking after us. We had evening room service twice as we couldn't face the thought of the catastrophe that was the dining rooms. It was excellent, best meals on the ship. The coffee shop on level 5 was very good, the food was always hot and the staff were exceptional in their service and care. Come back new??? Not us we came back discussed, frustrated, angry, annoyed, disappointed, mortified and concerned, as we’d already booked and paid for cruise with Princess in December. Fingers crossed, with saying that we must say that in the many cruises we have done with Princess we have never had one complaint or issue, service standards have always been well beyond our expectations. . Our balcony cabin with of a sofabed on deck 15 in a nice quiet location which we choose diliberatly had been given to someone else. We only found this out onboard and not at checkin. We were given a mini suite instead but sadly the location was so bad we spent most of our cruise sleep deprived from the noise the crew made dragging tables and chairs around from midnight till 1am and then again at 4am. Complaints fell on deaf ears. Cabin wasn't ready, shelves were dirty, floor dirty, not enough toiletries for 3 in a room. We had to find our own luggage as it went to the wrong cabin. Buffet food - mostly Chinese food & same nearly every evening. Main dining rooms was pretty poor quality food so we choses not to dine there. Speciality restaurant: Harmony (Chinese) was average and not worth the extra cost. La Mer main menu not great but we ate Chef Darren Maclean's own menu 2 nights running and this was the only decent food onboard. staff took our drinks away whilst we had a photo with chef after the nine course & wine paring evening. pool deck Free ice-cream worst I've ever had. Buffet area has Plastic plates & bowls which is terrible. Buffet staff could not manage and tables sat dirty unless you asked staff to clean them. Gym area is poor, stretching area always used for seminars, Kareoke mostly Chinese songs. Ports: Shimizu isn't a great port but credit to the people of this small town who went out of their way to be helpful. Also Kochi isn't worth stopping at. Osaka should be an overnight stop there is so much to do and no time to do it. Took 3 excursions with Princess, they were good but expensive, I do question the time wasted on lunch which is included in the full day excursions. The ship is CROWDED. Everyone I met on the ship said it was ridiculous how many people are squeezed into rooms onboard. 6+ in small balcony rooms. Staff told us 4000 Chinese passengers were onboard when it should have been 3000. Apparently the ship just added more beds to cabins, shocking, is that allowed?. This is a cruise for the China Chinese only, it does not work for anyone else. The cultural differences will defiantly impact on you. Spitting in the pool, spitting on plates in buffet, shouting, pushing in, children in the adults only area throughout the whole cruise. I met several Chinese passengers from Singapore and Hong Kong who felt very uncomfortable with the behaviour of the majority passengers. There were 2 good shows at the theatre and thats about it. The language issues made most entertainment difficult. This cruise felt budget, unsafe, lawless and to be honest insulting. Disembarkation was chaotic, no crew around to help, passengers missed flights as they were unable to get off the ship in time, we just made it to the airport for our flight but we had to make a lot of noise to get off. Shameful. This is not how you say goodbye to customers, get some training. I do NOT recommend this cruise to customers outside of China. This cruises is totally aimed at China Chinese only. This cruise was certainly no Princess. Read Less

I liked the look of the itinerary. However, there was no porter service at embarkation. The two Korean ports were a first for this ship, and nearly no one spoke English in the ports. All onboard activities, including entertainers and cruise activities were conducted in Chinese. And there were no onboard acknowledgments for Elite Captains Circle members. The ships signage is predominantly in Chinese, and the ships map we were given was also in Chinese. Of the 4,000 + passengers aboard, less than 200 spoke English. Service was an issue, as not enough of the staff spoke Chinese, so language barriers slowed service throughout the ship. The room are nice, and the stewards were helpful. But make no mistake...this a "charter" cruise. Princess was the operator, but not running the ship. All menus, tours, dining and entertainment are geared to Chinese tour guests. If you're expecting a Princess Cruise, you will be severely disappointed and feel cheated. Read Less

Most disappointed Princess Cruise after previous Sapphire, Royal, Regal and Diamond. We found the ship crowded with long queues, Bellinis and Vine became waiting area with tour guides and passengers, everyone rushing here and there, talking, burping and sneezing loudly. It was really chaotic and people took pictures everywhere including climbing up and down the equipment at the gym, and that there was this occasion where two ladies around their 60s and 80s were taking pictures in front of a backdrop and wouldn't stop posing and laughing until they lose balance and fell down with the backdrop and the Princess photographer was dumbfound. If you skipped the traditional and anytime dining queues, you'll also find long queue at the buffet lines strangely, we had to queue for buffet including waiting in front of sections that we were not picking up any food. Hand sanitizing was not policed after day two. Worse was World Marketplace buffet line was not open for the first (Nagasaki) and second (Yeosu) port day lunch, only the bistro was opened and at Yeosu, they had not enough food and we had long queue for nothing! Three pots of soup finished, empty sandwiches counter, and gone everything with the chef busy scolding and poor older cruisers who had problem walking, waiting, queuing, and surviving till their turn left with no food! Speaking of staffs, most of them were poorly trained, at times you feel like you're in Prison Break or Orange is the New Black, like our cabin steward, International Cafe, Alfredo, Crown Grill and LaMer, we had very bad experiences. But of course, not to mention some very nice staffs like Harmony, Internet service, Photography team, Spa, Gongcha and Noodle Station. The first day we entered our cabin, we already found bread crumbs on the floor. Hot water (shower)was gone on our floor 12 and the customer service had problems understand and paying attention to our call for help due to the same problem with many staffs on this ship, they assumed none can speak English so they were not paying attention to what you're saying! So we waited for 3-4 hours and called 5 times to highlight to them the problem, help only came after so many hours of wait. Same like the buffet staffs, if you say "May I have warm water please?" I got a reply "ah! Water! Hot or cold?". I interpret as "Ah!(you can speak English!" So "Hot or cold?(am not listening!!!)" And I replied "Just now I asked you-may I have warm water please" So after a few rounds of struggle, my friend suggested that I must do what they do, be rude and shout loudly what you want, for example "COKE! ONE!" And I learn not to be polite and speak in full sentences never mind they are from the Phillipines or wherever countries that should be familiar with English. The manager was most rude when we approached to make a reservation, he was speaking to his staffs and he gave us a hand gesture to wait and fiercely told us that he will be attending us in a bit. Dirty public toilets, smelly, clogged most of the time, soap finished. Shows at theatre were exactly like what other cruisers mentioned, they repeated the same shows. Well, no members lounge for disembarkation. And Keelung port was really bad and chaotic as well. So, no more Majestic for us, maybe will stop cruising with Princess for a while. Read Less

My husband and I are avid cruise travelers and have sailed through 6 continents with budget-friendly cruise companies to high-end small ships. Princess Cruises has always been considered as a mid to upper class cruise company and our past experiences with them in North America certainly meet that standard. However, it’s not the same on their ships sailing from Taiwan!! My voyage with Majestic Princess from Taiwan this time confirmed that they must have either brought the worst dinning room wait staffs from other ships to be on this one or these people are just untrained. They were not only rude, but also unprofessional (from never smiles, to often forget our drink orders to only give one menu to the entire group of 4 people...etc). And the breakfast buffet had such limited choices of food that I thought I was on a commercial cargo ship. I had sailed with Princess Cruises from Taiwan in 2016 and had a very bad experience in their dinning room that prompted me to sent a written complaint to their executive office and I would think they would have made some improvements already, but I was disappointed again by their dinning room service this time. Princess Cruises needs to really step up to the game on their service on their Taiwan cruises or they will loose consumer confidence soon. Besides the dinning room bad experience, their photo booth staff were also unprofessional and careless. I had to repeat myself multiple times to multiple employees and even after I called to confirm my order, they still made the same mistake. I would say the areas that Majestic Princess meets Princess Cruises standards were their stateroom staff and entertainment staff. Read Less

New ship and very very big. Great ship...Ports of call were interesting, should have been longer at Singapore and Vietnam, so much to see and do. Food menu was very disappointing in the Lido bar. Very repetitive and boring. Disappointed with photo deals....no package offered...only digital copies promoted....not good! Ping pong tables were unsuitably positioned, in the wind rain and heat....should have been indoors. Gym was good, did not feel uncomfortable. Overall entertainment in Princess Theatre was good but not great, could have been better. Enjoyed the music and entertainment by the band Opus. Line dancing Flash mob Choir and yukelele was great. Balloon drop and staff entertainment was enjoyable. Loved The Majestic Princess overall. Looking forward to next cruise with Princess, already paid future cruise deposit in anticipation of a great holiday in 2020/2021. Hope my review will contribute to better changes in the future for all passengers concerned. Read Less

Would not recommend this ship. The mother in laws first cruise and as her complaints were not dealt with made for a very unhappy and grumpy family as we had to put up with the lack of sleep causing being to tired for certain family members of family unable to take part in ship activities. The constant harassment of the photographers is very frustrating and annoying.I feel the princess line has to look at trying to change things. Most multiple cruise passengers are not interested in the continuous art sales.Having to wait 15 to 20 minutes to be served is not acceptable to wait for drink. This I feel was due to staff shortages. The restaurant staff in the set dining were fantastic, the only complaint was that as my wife doesn't eat seafood was very restricted on choices. The staff were most helpfull in the area.I am not sure wether these issues were due to the cruise being a repositioning cruise. The shore excursions seem to be expensive as when ashore you can get way better deals. Was amazed at Hong Kong to find princess charging 20 dollars per head for a free curtesy bus.In Taiwan bused to a shopping centre at 9 am to find out nothing opened till 11 am.The whole experience needs to be ,in my opinion, revamped and not feel like buttlins at sea.It seems to be the same ol same ol. First impression entering the Piazza, was wow. Very impressive. But the biggest thing that lets it down is the layout. The Market place is so confusing, it’s set out in 2 sections a bistro and buffet. To get your food you have to negotiate .different areas. For example I wanted toasted Banana bread, I went to the counter with the Banana bread, then had to take it to another area to get it toasted then again to get butter. The Market place seating is divided by many screens, it feels a bit closed in. The Princess theatre is a good size but entering and exiting is a problem as the aisles are one person wide, which causes big problems with everyone trying to leave. The future cruise desk and captains circle club are in the same very small room, with only one staff member looking after each area. Causes major cuing. For a ship with 3500 passengers you would think they would have more room and more staff to handle the volume. Our cabin was excellent, we had a Club class mini suite, very big, plenty of room to sit, or eat a meal, very good and big balcony with table chairs and sun lounges. Embarkation and disembarkation was very good, very well organised. The entertainment was good with the imported artist, but the Princess entertainment was the same as any other ship. If you been on a few Princess cruises no need to go and see them. The crew where mainly very good, but there was a lot of Chinese crew that did not seem to want to serve anyone except Chinese passengers. I asked to use the Karaoke room and was told it was only for the Asian cruise, by one Chinese crew member, then told to go and see, the Internet cafe person, then told to see Customer services, who are the ones I saw first so I didn’t bother. I would not go on the Majestic Princess if there was an alternative ship. Read Less

Wanted to see New Zealand. Cruise tours were limited. No real wine tours if that is what you are interested in. Loved the Fjords. Cities were interesting . Missed a port due to fog-Port Chalmers. NZ is a beautiful if hilly country. Weather was exceptionally good except for one day of fog. Tasmania was a pleasant surprise with a visit to a animal rescue sanctuary. Able to get up close and personal with many kangaroos. For a new ship the cabin looked a little worn and the food quality has definitely declined. It used to be so good now the quality is suffering. The beef options were in the main tough unless you ordered from the Steakhouse menu. Vegetables were wet or mushy. We used anytime dining and did go to the Noodle bar, the cafe, and the pizza restaurant which were all good. I always enjoy the music in the atrium. Good selection of artists and easy to get drinks and food nearby. Did not go to any shows but enjoyed the art auctions and did purchase some art Read Less

Such a fantastic ship and the step up in quality from our previous provider was HUGE. I didn't think it would be that different from our previous cruises but it really was. The rooms were so much tidier and newer. The bed was very comfortable and the air con worked well. On previous cruises the air con didn't work which was horrid. Food was fabulous, outstanding in fact and we all put on weight lol. I think above all the dining staff were superb - they went above and beyond their duty each night and we really were grateful. We ate in the Symphony restaurant and recommend it highly. We had a meal in one of the specialty restaurants but we still preferred the Symphony. We thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment which was also a big step up from the previous provider we've used in the past. We would definitely recommend this ship over other providers of similar value. We were so impressed that we have booked two more cruises with this company. Read Less

There is a bit to like on the Majestic. Being fairly new it is quite tidy and presents reasonably well on board. There are quite a few good spaces on board, a bit of flair here and there, but overall with 3,500 to 4,000 passengers on board its all a bit of a mess. And from the exterior “the ship” is as ugly as sin. An ugly floating appartment block. The root of the evil is the Princess business model. The market researchers have told them that the average passenger is not too bright ... so Princess presents an infantile and condescending package assuming the passengers to be morons so the staff dont need to be too sharp either ... they all seem to come from the cheaper parts of Asia and Eastern Europe. The activities program throughout is dumb, the lowlight of the day is a hard sell and then one has to suffer the bars and restaurants. Actually a couple of the cabaret shows were quite good! Pretty sad that wait staff are enthusiastic with their recommendations, but are unable to even pronounce the fish that they have been told to dispense (buramooondi). And someliers who operate on bin numbers which they recomend but have no idea what a nero d’avola is. But the poor wait staff are not the problem (they are also victims in the Princess business model) they are the result of the Princess training program which is rubbish. Thankfully, we had a suite on board and could escape most of the crass Princess infantile exploitation dogma. The suite was little better than most, but a poor excuse for the use of good space. Thankfully, we escaped without too much trauma and certainly we will not have occasion to go to sea with Princess ever again. Read Less

The Majestic Princess is a relatively new ship, but there are things about the ship that make me feel it's age. It feels closed in in the public areas. Low ceilings and small halls etc just gave me a closed in feeling. There was nothing really grand about the dining room: it was perfectly nice just nothing special. I had read alot about the beautiful atrium/piazza, again, nice but nothing really special. The rooms were also nice enough, although I have been in nicer rooms on other cruise lines. I wish there had been a lounge chair or small couch so that you didn't have to sit on the bed all the time. (Speaking of that: our cabin steward made our be before we checked out even though we told him we would be back--that grossed me out, knowing he had likely done the same thing before we checked in so we might be sitting on someone else's "germs") I really likely that there we laundry facilities onboard. We had taken a land tour prior to our cruise and it was nice to be able to do laundry without having to pay the ship's laundry rates. The food on this ship is, at best, uninspired. The buffet is similar to a low priced family buffet (Golden Corral for those in the US). The food is basically the same every day: there is really nothing "wrong" with it, it is just boring and not particularly flavorful. Getting a piece of bread toasted is a challenge, you have to track down a toaster, then an employee and then get them to toast it. It would be better if the toasters were available for anyone to use. We only ate at the buffet for breakfast after the first day because of the "blah-ness" of the food. Because of New Zealand's strict vegetation restrictions the fruit was cut up so you couldn't take it ashore. I didn't mind the apples, etc but peeling the bananas and cutting them in half was weird. We also struggled to get a refill on our beverages. Finding a seat was a bit of a challenge as well. We ate at the pizza restaurant several days, and we ate at the noodle bar several days for lunch. Both were tasty and amazingly fairly easy to get beverage refills. The burger bar was also pretty good. The main dining room was also okay: some of the food was really good, some just "okay". The desserts were absolutely nothing to write home about. You expect cruise desserts to be special but they just weren't. Again, getting a refill on our beverage was almost no-existant. It shows that the service wasn't what you would expect. The casino was small and the game payouts were not very "generous" I played very little. The shows were fine: I enjoyed them. My husband wasn't as impressed. As indicated in other reviews the theater just isn't big enough for the number of people onboard. The best night was the day that had 3 shows. Embarkation was great: very smooth and quick-we were in our rooms in less than a half hour. The rooms were ready when we got on so there was no lugging around your carry on bag while you ate lunch or had a drink. Very little pressure to buy beverage packages or upgrade to specialty dining. That was nice. We loved all of the ports of call: however, there were two things that weren't so good. There was a change in itinerary that resulted in less than normal time in two of the ports. Tauranga was very odd because we got in at 4:30 am. No shore excursions started that early(obviously) and most of them were fairly long so they ended up feeling rushed in order to get back to the ship on time. (We used a secondary provider instead of the ship's offerings.) Several of the ship's tours came back late so the ship had to leave late. The tours in Akaroa were also late getting back resulting in very long lines to get a tender and very few people got back to the ship at the recommended "on board" time. I think we were about 2 hours or better late leaving that port. It appears that Princess has some issues either with their own timing or that of their vendors to get back in a timely fashion. (one of the Princess tour buses ran out of gas and one had their keys stolen by a biker--made me glad that I was on an aftermarket tour) We discussed that we did not know that we would take another Princess cruise, primarily because of the food and the service. My family needed a cruise suitable for our range of ages and tastes and this family friendly, low stress cruise absolutely matched our needs. Very clean ship inside and out with friendly staff and fun entertainers. We travelled from Sydney, Australia to Melbourne and Hobart and then went to New Zealand getting stops at Port Chalmers, Akaroa, Tauranga and Auckland. There was a large variety of activities that suited the seniors in our group as well as the younger cousins, too. From Zumba to Bingo to jaw-dropping production shows, we were thoroughly entertained onboard. Food was easy to acquire and change to our tastes as necessary for those with food allergies. I am pleased to note that there were accessible shore excursions and the entire ship was accessible for people with mobility issues. The outside and inside of the ship were truly majestic, with details everywhere to enhance the experience for guests of any culture. Read Less

My wife and I chose this cruise to find out about this new ship. Dining in the Concerto restaurant at 5.15 was as we requested and we found the food to be of excellent quality The Theatre was good but we found it lacking a tray to put your drinks as on the Sun and Sea Princesses. Also not enough seating in the Piazza when entertainment was on We did not dine at the Market on deck 16 as we found it hard going in different places. the best layout was as in the Sun and Sea Entertainment was excellent even though you had to go at least 20 minutes earlier to get a seat Another thing we missed was the Wheelhouse which was a good place to go and listen to music and dancing Will we travel on it again PROBABLY Enbarkation was smooth it took 15 minutes to get onboard the same when disenbarking The waiters we had in the dining room were excellent and would get anything we asked for Read Less

In Sydney, for the size of the ship and the amount of passengers embarking, I was very impress with how quickly and smoothly the customs / security area was. Being the newest ship in the Princess fleet, I was truly amazed with the overall impression of the ship. I originally booked an inside cabin on level 16, which I was happy with. Half way through the cruise, I was upgraded to an outside balcony cabin on level 8, I was very impressed by this. The dining area were always very clean and the food was good with always a good selection. The entertainment / on-board activities and the staff who hosted the events were all good and professional. The service from all staff was friendly, happy and professional at all times. The ports and excursions were very good and well organised. I would definitely like to sail on this ship again in the future. Read Less
