I was actually on the Baltic cruise 10/8/17 but for some reason cant choose that date. Very few cruise lines offer single cabins at a reasonable cost (+25%) or sail from Northern Ports (I live in Scotland) - CMV offered both along with get together events throughout the cruise for single travellers. On other ships I have felt marginalised by the guests being mainly couples and often quite lonely - not the case at all on Magellan. The cabin (on deck 6) was of a good size with twin beds/king size bed (when put together). Lots of storage space and a good sized shower room. No kettles though which meant a trail up to the free hot water machine on Deck 10... only on the last few days did I discover you could have a jug of hot water delivered at no charge. The air con was noisy but otherwise a quiet cabin - those on lower decks tended to be noisy. The food was excellent and the Kitchen catered for my food allergy brilliantly. The food was not 'luxury' grade but for just over 2,000 for a 14 night cruise i didnt expect that. I was on the very early 5:30 sitting and did feel the miss of, unlike other cruise lines, no late evening buffet otherwise all OK. The entertainment was poor compared with other cruises, the singers good individually but whoever booked them could not have envisaged them singing together as whenever they did their voices just did not compliment each other. The acoustics in some of the bars was poor and made the classical musicians sound tinny - they were much better when in the main show lounge. Craft and other activities were plentiful and of a good standard - i enjoyed some writing and watercolours classes. I did think the port presentations were really dumbed down - if you want to know more I suggest you get a guide book or research in advance. Embarkation great - staff attitude very friendly/good service all very good EXCEPT the tours desk - beware they know nothing about the (over expensive) tours they are selling- I am disabled and needed to check accessibility and ended up on free port wifi doing it myself! Emailing museums etc. Magellan gives an authentic small ship - old style cruising experience with libraries and sun decks instead of wave pools and climbing walls - I liked it so much Im going again next year BUT Im going to book my own port tours! This cruise is not good for disabled people, the gangways are to narrow, my wheelchair wheel came off two times. The toilet in the cabin is too low and I needed help in getting off of it. They state that a wheelchair must be below 23 kg and if you have a electric one that is impossible. If you cannot walk and are wheelbound some ports you cannot get off due to having steps. The food is cooked well but does not have the selection of other cruise lines I have been on. The staff are helpfull and polite but most of them don't smile or look happy. No 24 hour buffet. If you want room service you have to pay quite a lot, other lines either charge a nominal fee or it if free. Overall I got the impression everything was done as cheaply as possible and I would not cruise with this line again. Read Less

Good points first -Price , Magellan the ship itself , food and drinks plus and the Baltic cities we visited. Bad points - the entertainment shows and music were very old and dated . Too many very old and or infirm people on this cruise so gave the atomosphere one of a derby and Joan club at sea ! Cities such as Stockholm only had a 4 hour visit time which is much too short Entertainment was very much aimed at 70/80 year olds with the newest music I heard all cruise was by Abba and the band played what I would ( bad ) lift music The entertainment staff had to come up with their own ideas for shows etc , a case in point was one of them ( slightly) looking like Buddy Holly (but sounding nothing like him ) so you got a Buddy Holly tribute act....but a terrible one ! If you value the entertainment on board your cruise alongside the destinations you have been warned !!! Read Less
