Really excellent ship with wonderful crew

Review for a South America Cruise on Azamara Quest

There were 591 on this cruise (ship accommodates about 675) with a crew of about 400. This is considered an upscale line and ship and it is. The ship and crew did a fine job. The food was excellent and much better than most of their competitors, but they could use some menu additions and modifications. We love azamara and love the quest and you will too. This ship was apparently overhauled about ...

Bus crash in Rio

Review for a South America Cruise on Azamara Quest

We wanted to see parts of South America. We enjoyed the food and service. The excursions were pricey so we did most touring on our own in ports. In Ponte Del Este, we obtained a private driver and toured the whole area including a visit to casa Pueblo, which was amazing. We took the ship’s excursion to see Christ the Redeemer and the beaches. On the way back to the ship. The bus driver lost ...

a disappointing cruise through Italy, Greece and Turkey

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Silver Moon

ship - good condition but poorly laid out. food - excellent at times and lacking at others. service - staff all have smiles and want to please but seem to lack direction and management. daily schedule - sadly lacking; not enough activities during the day. all port lectures mysteriously scheduled for 6:30 at night interfering with cocktails and dinner. Obvious limited budget for speakers. ...

Totally magic first-time cruise

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Seabourn Encore

We had never been on a cruise; never wanted to go on one. A friend in California, who has cruised extensively, suggested we consider going on a cruise and go with Seabourn. Once I looked at their itineraries and discovered that not all cruises were floating orgies and beach parties, I was intrigued. I found their 14-day Venice to Istanbul cruise--two places I had not yet been to, but wanted to ...

Horrible noise above Penthouse suite

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Sirena

We booked a penthouse suite and splurged because it came with a butler and the ability to have meals in our room, plus a balcony. Our butler, Samrat, was excellent and if you can afford the cost of a PH room I’d recommend it. Only do not book room 8045. We asked to be changed the minute we got into the room because as Samrat was talking, I couldn’t pay attention due to the scraping noises above ...

Repositioning cruise - sailed the Med

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Star Flyer

I loved the idea of real sailing and always wanted to see the smaller ports in the Med, so when I saw that on reposition one could travel the entire width of the Med (Turkey to Caneries), I signed up for the whole 35 days. Even with the single supplement, the price was quite reasonable; the accommodations, food and service excellent. Sailing into the small ports was as nostalgic and ...

Amazing experience... IF

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Star Flyer

My wife and I have always loved the "small ship" experience, and have no need to be entertained, so this was a perfect fit for us. BUT, if you need nightly entertainment, want to dine alone at a table, don't like international crowds, (I would say 60% of the passangers NOT from the USA) or are prone to seasickness, this is NOT the cruise for you. If you remember that this is first and formost ...

Some Disappointments

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Silver Moon

I really mean 3.5 as a rating. We had also been on this ship when we did the Grand Voyage around South America earlier in the year...which met expectations. Not so much here. Our bathroom smelled for an odour coming from the bathroom. They tried to find the source but could not stop it. So eventually the staff (with one exception) agreed that there was no smell. So when we were ashore we ...

Interesting experience - but you have to take the good with the bad

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Star Flyer

Although I'm a veteran cruiser (more than 19 cruises at this point), this was my first experience on a Star Clippers ship. Sailing on this type of a ship offers a unique cruise experience, and in my opinion has the following pros and cons: PROS: • The Star Flyer has a passenger capacity of 170 max, but we had 155 on our sailing with all rooms occupied but one. This low passenger count ...
