We really looked forward to this cruise and had decided to make the most of it however it turned out.We had read good, bad and mediocre reviews of the star, but hoped our trip would fall into the good category however, mediocre is the word best described for our overall experience. Embarkation was quick. Loved how quick we got on the ship. The staff was courteous, but in robot mode. Mostly we ...

Norwegian Star was a big disapointment. Ship was not one of the better ones, food was just plain awful and the staff were not the best. One and only NCL trip.Trip to Alaska was good, scenery was breathtaking, weather was pretty good. Shore excursions were also good - Did a trip to the Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau and went with the crab fishing boat (from Deadliest Catch) in Ketchikan.Lineups to ...

Background: Our group included 4 newbie cruisers and the veterans, my wife and I. We decided to get together to provide a cruise as a birthday gift for my 85 year old mother, and introduce my brother and sister in law, and my sister, to cruising. The NCL Star was repositioning for the summer Alaska cruising season, with an itinerary I would not normally choose ... 4 days at sea and only 2 days in ...

This was our first cruise on NCL and to tell you the truth we were very nervous about it. We had read some not so great things, but were going to go into with with a positive attitude....any vacation is better than no vacation. How bad could it really be?? We live in Southern Ca so we did not have to worry about flying into LAX or finding transportation to the pier. We did use Zippy Shuttle to ...

We stayed in the Days inn by the airport, just a place to sleep, nothing to write home about. We used Primetime shuttle to get to the pier, they were very good and on time. Embarkment was so easy, as always, being in the suite it was even more amazing. We were greated with big smiles and treats. The cards were ready and we were lead to our amazing room. The Penthouse is so nice, love the vanity ...

Since I'm prone to seasickness, I tend to avoid boat vacations. However, I could not pass up the opportunity to see Alaska. My friend and I were booked on the repo cruise from L.A. and it was 3+ full days on rough ocean waters until the first port of call. I'm glad I brought along some Bonine so I was only feeling ill for part of the day. The rear of the ship seemed to rock the worst where people ...

US:  We are a family of six:  2 Thirty-somethings, 1 teenage girl, and 3 preteen boys.  DH and I have gone on a one day cruise on NCL, and a one day cruise on Holland America.  Other than that, we have always cruised on Carnival.  Other times that we cruised with the kids, we had two inside cabins for the family.  We got a cheap upsell to the Garden Villa for this cruise, and are now spoiled for ...

My husband and I took the repositioning cruise on the Star.  We previously took the NCL Dawn and I've been on over 10 cruises.  This was my second cruise to Alaska and third time to Alaska.  We had a great time on the cruise. We booked this particular cruise because it came with a large shipboard credit and the prices were reasonable enough that we could splurge and get a "Romance Suite."  A few ...
