My wife and I sailed on the NCL Pearl during a "Pacific Coastal" aka repositioning cruise from Los Angeles to Vancouver BC. This was our 7th NCL cruise and the 2nd on the Pearl (last being a 2014 cruise to Alaska). We chose this cruise for some rest and relaxation on the ocean.
We flew into LA from Seattle and took the NCL sponsored bus directly from the baggage claim to the Long Beach ...
I have always sailed RCCL in the past - have done the Vision, Voyager, and Oasis class ships. Recently, I decided to sail NCL and choose the Pearl (Jewel class). I prefer this size ship and now am only sailing NCL due to butler/concierge in the suites. The mega ships are beautiful but due to size, I do not find enjoyable. I understand and I am amazed at the operation of the mega ships. On RCCL ...
Cruise Virgin. Main Purpose for this was a pre-cruise to a Hawaii cruise on NCL in June 2016. Secondary purpose was the brief opportunity to see cousins in LA and SF. Third purpose was to scout Victoria and Vancouver. This trip was a fly-cruise-train trip.
We are PNW people so the ability to see other west coast cities via a different route is different. We used Spirit Air from PDX to ...
Overall this was one of our most favorite cruises (44). The ship was in good shape, the crew was in great shape.
Embarkation: Cruise started 10/1 in San Fransisco, we got on in LA and there were not a lot of people getting on. Time from out of the cab to in the cabin 20 minutes, luggage was 30 minutes later to our cabin.
Cabin: We got an upsell email 3 days before sailing and went from ...
Took this trip (the latest of over 50 cruises) to take the Panama Canal off our "bucket list".
NCL got just about everything right . . . from a great variety of food to a pleasant "right size" ship to a fantastic crew. I have a mobility issue and help was there all the time . . .without ever asking.
This is the sister ship of the Jade and Gem. The Russian Palace theme works great to make ...
To begin, we were given a stateroom on deck 9 which was two floors from the theatre. It was noisy about 12 hours a day (we were earing singing and musical instruments on and off from 12pm to 12am. When we arrived in our cabin, the safety deposit box didn't work, I had to call twice and ask to an employee in the hallway and 4 hours later somebody finally came to fix it. We also had a bunk bed in ...
My wife and I just returned from a 15 day cruise through the Panama canal on the NCL pearl. This was our 37th cruise and our 3rd cruise with NCL. Let me start by saying NCL has come along with since our 1st cruise with NCL on the Pride of Aloha out of Hawaii. That cruise by far set the tone and standard as being the worst cruise to date that the wife and I have done with NCL. It was shortly after ...
THE SHIP: My wife and I and 2 friends of ours cruised on the Pearl from Los Angeles to Vancouver, BC....stopping in San Francisco and Victoria, BC along the way. We got on the ship about 1.5 hours before it sailed, so we were literally the only people in line. So obviously, that all went fast. When we got on, we immediately noticed this ship was SO much nicer than any of the Carnival ships we had ...
This was our first Norwegian experience and our last. The free style dining is reminiscent of a night out at Applebees...with long lines and pagers as you wait to be seated with a different waiter each night in the main dining room(especially problematic for someone with food allergies). The food was subpar with many desserts looking like they were taken out of a box from a store and cut up in ...
This was our 3rd NCL cruise and we absolutely loved the Pacific Coast ports. The ports were great and we found something fabulous to do in each port. The smaller ports (Astoria; Nanaimo) put so much effort in helping passengers with local information and getting around the port, their volunteers are to be commended!
We loved the Pearl and all the amenities.
Our balcony room was spotless, and ...
