Embarkation and Disembarkation a Nightmare

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Norwegian Sun

We choose Norwegian as we had cruised with them before and we had a great experience. This time, not so good. We had persuaded out relatives to come along with us, and wish we had not. A great pity as it was a bucket list holiday for us and a retirement present to my husband from me his wife. We took the Premium drinks package which included coffee and juice. No one mentioned that this was ...

We chose this cruise mainly for the itinerary and have no complaints about the ship in general. Our lower deck cabin was fine, as was the food in general, especially the Steak House. However, on days when shore excursions returned at around 4.30 or 5, it would have been nice to be able to get a few sandwiches or a piece of cake to tide you over until dinner. When we eventually found it, the ...

Pleasant Ship but the nickel and diming and poor entertainment took the shine off it. The Sun is a nicely laid out ship, the only issue really being the strange half floor on the deck 6 and the fact that all the dining is at the rear of the ship. Our Cabin was at the front on deck 9, as quiet as could be but 1/6 mile from the nearest coffee! We had the ultimate beverage package and ...

We selected this cruise because of itinerary because going through the Panama Canal really appealed to us! Even though the ship is smaller than the new mega cruisers, the fantastic service and enthusiasm makes this cruise a memorable experience!!! The free style dining allows a lot of flexibility for diners. The casual atmosphere made it easy to pack! We used the Seven Seas dining room mostly ...

This was our eighth cruise on NCL and it proved again why we continue to sail with NCL. Everything was perfect. The food was excellent, the service was superb in all respects, and the entire staff could not have been more accommodating. We traveled with another couple and the wife has severe food allergies and the restaurant staff was easy to work with regarding this. From the outstanding ...

Superb older ship and crew

My wife and I recently spent 15 days aboard the Sun celebrating my 60th birthday. It was truly a fantastic time and the ship's professional crew made it even better. The staff from the Captain all the way to the room Steward were superb. Although it is an older ship they truly strive to keep it in great shape and everyone is extremely friendly. The ports of call were fun but the whole Panama Canal ...

We cruised on the Norwegian with another couple. We were in stateroom 8051. The bed looked and felt like they got it out of a 'pay by the hour' motel. It had depressions more than an inch deep in the mattress where too many people had slept. They have probably never replaced the mattresses since the ship first sailed in 2001. The mattress was also hard as a rock. I ended up with three egg crate ...

Relaxing Cruise

This cruise was very relaxing for a great vacation. The food on board was average most days. Some nights we could not find anything on the menus we were interested in for dinner. They seem to have changed to make it essential to get a good meal people need to pay additional amounts to dine in the specialty restaurants. This should not have to done. However even the specialty restaurants were not ...

We had sailed on the Sun when she was brand new and loved it. We were looking forward to revisiting her and we were not disappointed. She is in beautiful shape and certainly does not show any signs of age. Although a smaller ship by today's standards, she is comfortable and very easy to get around. We had an aft cabin and, other than some vibration when slowing for a port, the ride was remarkably ...

The Glorious Lamp of Heaven - the Radiant Sun!

Our favorite ship - the NCL Sun - may be older, but still shines radiantly! There were always crew members polishing, shining, painting, etc. making the ship feel newer than she is. The Sun is a happy ship! Her crew are more than attentive because it is their duty - they truly make one feel that it is a pleasure to make your vacation memorable and full of delightful surprises! I have to mention ...
