We chose the Half World cruise as a way to escape winter and to get to the Arab countries where we wanted to tour. Cruising is always pleasant and so my rating is relative to other cruises we've done. Generally the food was ok (what you might expect at Denny's) and the ride not to bad (for us) even when the seas were rough. But nothing was impressive and the entertainment was VERY lame. You can ...
We truly enjoyed our cruise. That being said, Island Princess is OLD and tired. We do enjoy the smaller ships, but in the future because how Princess manages these smaller ships and offers lesser quality food, music, activities and we feel lower quality staff, we will not be returning to the Island.
My primary observations:
No electrical by bed. Had to request extension cord and run ...
The cleanliness and quality of furnishings needs serious help. I have cruised with Princess 6 previous times and have never had a ship or staff like this. It was as if no one cared from the company to the staff. I have generalized staff in that statement but there was some good people of course but more rude, abrupt and uncaring staff than good. This includes some higher ranking staff like store ...
We choose this ship because we love it’s sister ship, the Coral. This is NOT the same ship as the Coral. The huge two story Universal Lounge was removed, lots of cabins were added instead. The fitness room was moved from its larger upper deck view of the sea location to a smaller inside the ship lower down deck. It was a joke and people actually paid to use fitness studios in port to workout. The ...
WANTED TO GO to panama canal for a long time. could finely afford it. i went with princess because the last one (15 years ago), the bed was more comfortable than the other ship. what a disappointment it was when i couldn't sleep in the bed. tooo-o-o soft. the food was not up to the standard i was expecting. everything had a price. surprised the toilets outside my stateroom weren't "pay per ...
We picked this cruise as we had done one like it on the Coral Princess. This was really disappointing. The food in the Horizon was barely palatable and almost the same every day. The food in the dinning room was less than stellar. We had been on the Grand in February and loved the food. Island needed a new chef or better cooks. Our waiters were the "do nothing beyond serve" guys. I had to go ...
Service desk lady couldn't be bothered by getting us a new coffee card as ours got wet and was ruined. The card needs to be in a computer system.A cardboard card is not practical. She was very rude. The ship had something in the air that caused people to itch and sneeze.I was very disappointed in no back pool and another lounge that had been taken out So cabins could be added.Ship can feel crowded ...
We love to cruise – and have always had a great time, but circumstances and events conspired against us on this one. In my mind, Princess really fell down on the job this time around – but it might just be this ship. It was the worst.
Before we left on our cruise, I went in (of course) and filled out all the info – passport info, etc. and requested water and robes for our room. I had that ...
Let's start with the good points: Our cabin steward, our table waiters, the help at the 14th floor buffet, the presentations in the Princess Theater, embarking and disembarking. These things were good. Now let's get to the bad: (1) The overpowering odor of raw sewage filling the Princess Theater to the point where people were covering their noses and leaving. (2) The shut-down of electricity ...
It was the only Princess ship that spent 2 days in Panama (one day in Fuerte Amador so we could get on land and one day through the Canal). So I booked this ship. The canal experience was great, but I would never take a cruise on the Island Princess again, literally if it was free. Almost everything had lines for whatever you wanted to do. Theater? Get there 45-60 minutes early to get a seat ...
