My husband had never been to Hawaii so we chose this cruise. His biggest complaint on this ship is that the casino had not poker table.
It mostly met our expectations. The food was good, but not outstanding. The service in our dining room was excellent. It was sometimes slow at breakfast. The size of the buffet was small so therefore there was very little variety.

We choose this cruise as it's been a "bucket list" cruise for us for a while, but mostly because back in November we were very concerned that our two week Caribbean cruise would be canceled, so we cancelled it proactively and booked the 15 day Hawaii cruise. We had previously sailed on Grand in December for a 10 day Mexico cruise and really enjoyed it.

We wanted lots of sea days and a chance to visit four islands in Hawaii so sailing on the Grand Princess was a no brainer. The Grand Princess leaves from San Pedro California round trip to Hawaii.

This itinerary was the last cruise we took pre-Covid. In fact, we were one of the last ships able to disembark at Port of Los Angeles before everything shut down. This cruise was originally booked in 2019 for sailing on March 13, 2020. The day before sailing, the cruise was cancelled due to Covid. It was rebooked 3 times before we finally were able to sail. I loved the itinerary offered on this cruise. I had not sailed on Princess since 2005 so I was looking forward to my cruise. The ship remains very nice.
We took the Celebrity Eclipse on its initial trans-Atlantic cruise from England to Florida in 2010.
The life boat drill was awful. We were crammed into the photo studio and forced to watch a LONG cheesy video that we could not see or hear.

Overall this cruise was very good but there were a few issues.
The biggest issue was debarkation in Kona. The ship used their lifeboats as tenders. They were disorganized and many passengers were unable to get off the ship due to the short time in this port.
