Some Niggles But Generally Good

We wanted a winter getaway and took this 14 night Canaries one on Iona, booking it 11 months prior to sailing - as a result we got £275 on-board credit, but our in-laws booked the same balcony cabin on deck 12 (five doors from ours) in November and paid £200 less plus got £600 on-board credit. Embarkation was difficult, with huge queues taking over an hour to shuffle upstairs and get your ...

I never thought I’d say this but huge cruise ships aren’t bad at all. Until now I’ve avoided them like the plague - at my age Aurora and Arcadia are more my style - but four winter weeks in the Canaries and the Med on board P&O Iona (as a solo passenger) has made me think again. Iona is certainly big. With up to 5200 passengers and 1800 crew (1800 being just about the total number of passengers ...

Christmas and New Year cruise - ship absolutely packed but no where near enough staff. Staff were rushed off their feet in the restaurants so lacked any time for pleasantries. That was after you had queued for ages or took your chance with the virtual queue app which would just remove you from the queue for no reason. Everyday we had to reinstall the app. Endless queues at reception who then ...

The worst cruise ever!

It went to the Canaries, no airport waiting and late availability. From getting onboard the my holiday app was temperamental to say the least. Everything needed booking through it including theatre etc. by continually going on there I was able to book most entertainment and some restaurants for 6 pm, but Christmas Day and New Years Eve showed that 12.15 am was only time available. Bought ...

We chose this cruise as we were travelling with family and there were children in our group, so we thought Iona would be perfect. We travelled on Britannia in January 2022 and had a really good experience so were looking forward to being on P&O's newest ship. Embarkation was fine, from arriving at the port to being on the ship was about 40 minutes. The cabin was well appointed but VERY ...

TLDR: Beautiful modern ship. Expensive. Below average food quality. Restaurant service is bordering on rude. Constant cash-grab. No adult-only pools/hot-tubs. 'The Retreat' is a rip-off. The 'My Holiday' app is hopeless but necessary to book everything. The Iona is a beautiful. modern cruise ship. The staterooms are bright and airy - perhaps a little smaller than other P&O ship according to ...

Great ship…but sadly the P&O experience is not what it was.

Our first P&O cruise since the nastiness passed and our first on Iona, all our previous with P&O, some dozen or so, have been on their older, and smaller ships. The itinerary to the Canaries, Madeira, and Spain, was selected really just to get us back on a ship, and hopefully some October sun, which we gladly received. The ship is great…beautifully designed, finished, and indeed beautiful to ...

This is my 12 th cruise and last for a long time, masks everywhere and karaoke as well singing with your back to the audience with a mask spoilt the cruise, the southampton embarkation was a shambles, we were expecting to sail the ship ourselves as we did everything else except inspect our printed evidence of covid jabs, 10 minutes i argued that my booster evidence proved i was jabbed 3 times, it ...
