Butlins at sea

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Azura

P&O has done a Marks and Spencers act. It has ignored customer demand and gone for max profit. This cruise proved it. We ate onshore as often as possible. We are tired of the same corporate menu, cruise after cruise. No imagination, no food uploaded along the route - so no local produce.(To ensure quality - we are told.) To ensure max profit is probably fact. We chose the cruise to visit ...

Sadly disappointing

This was our first cruise with P&O and it came up short in comparison with the line we previously used. In my opinion the Azura is in need of a refurbishment. Many fixtures and furnishings were worn and in poor condition and the beds in our cabin were very uncomfortable. Dining options were limited and the buffet food quality was very poor with very limited choice and the service was not available ...

In the past we have sailed on P&O cruises through recommendation, Our first, on the Oriana was excellent, the next time, it was good, lots of cutbacks, ie. silver service in restaurant, food selection in buffet resturants, and dining rooms. This last P&O cruise on the Azura was a real disappointment, on the first night in the restaurant, the gentleman next to me asked the waiter for an extra scoop ...

Warmer weather

Nice to enjoy warmer weather, although mixed sun and cloud. Surprised how many children were on board in term time. All were well behaved, but some of the Dads made nuisances of themselves, jumping and bombing into the swimming pools and frightening toddlers. Lunchtime Buffet service rather limited. Shellfish never varied, shrimps in cocktail sauce and mussles every single day. Volume in ...

We used ‘Park on my Drive’ and saved about £100 in parking fees however taxi to the terminal got us there too early so we had a long tedious wait to be checked in. Food My wife’s dietary preferences meant that we had to eat exclusively in the Buffet Restaurant Venezia, so that she could select food to suit her. There was too much emphasis on curries and Indian dishes, very little variety ...

The food really was lovely although people moaned and they really shouldn’t have it was great, the cocktails were great too but they they changed with every order. Entertainment was dull but the magician was funny (the only entertainment for the whole week), although dont leave your phone on the bar, I got mine stollen... and can’t claim on my travel insurance because reception didn’t give me a ...

We chose this cruise as keen fans of 'Strictly' and had been on the Britannia last year on a similar cruise. Food was good usual standard for P&O. We had freedom dinning and ate mainly in the Peninsular. Good service...friendly staff. We ate one night in the Epicurean...well worth the £28pp cover charge. Good for a special evening and we celebrated a birthday. Maitre de was a little grumpy ...

This was my first cruise with P&O and will be my last , we booked the cruise ship because my wife had always wanted to go on one , and my parents had been on loads of cruises and said how luxurious it was . The embarkation was efficient and the staff were helpful , we were able to go to our cabin straightaway and were met by our cabin steward who was very helpful . On our way to the safety ...

The upside? Check in was like clockwork, our cabin (inside) was spacious and well equipped and staff were plentiful, friendly and well trained. The downside? Most everything else! The entertainment was generally poor and the programme seemed only geared to enriching the cruise line (learn about wrinkles and then buy treatments) and so pensioner based. Then silly stuff like the bar most people ...
