Done this cruise many times with Royal Carib on this ship and other Royal Carib ships but usually early October never had any problems lovely cruise with good weather USUALLY!!!! This one was a nightmare where do i start? Sailed from Southampton on Friday night 26/10/18, entering the bay of biscay the seas were rough and it was very windy slight movement felt onboard, during Saturday seas still rough and still windy during late night Saturday early Sunday a loud bang was heard and the Bravo emergency call for the crew was heard with crew members running from bars etc, somewhat panic! Ship diverted to Vigo and docked there Saturday night early Sunday morning whilst assessment of damage was carried out, it appears that one of the stablisers had damage causing the ship to take water onboard flooding lower areas. The ship stayed in Vigo all day Sunday and left Monday at 4pm after having water pumped out of ship for hours, from Vigo it went to Gran Canaria which was ok then onto Tenerife which was a saints day celebration so hardly any shops were open, from Tenerife we sailed for three days back to Southampton. with seas a lot calmer but could still feel movement of the ship. Out of five ports of call originally planned we visited only three ports missing Maderia and Lanzarote lots of passengers very dissapointed. Worst of all was the lack of clear information from the captain it all seemed to be hushed up and rumours of the problems running rife and scaring some first time cruisers who many said they would not cruise again and therefore losing out on the 25% furture cruise discount. Very dissapointed with RCCL only offering a measly 25% refund of original cruise fare and 25% off future cruise, i think 40% minimum should be offered as refund and still 25% off future cruise. Basically out of a 10 day cruise 6 days were at sea with outdoor pools hardly in use and passengers bored out of their heads. My thoughts are that the Navigator is due refurbishment i think in March or April next year and RCCL is hoping it will last till it goes for refurbishment, ship looking very tired and shabby in places, menu's in dining room falling well short of pervious standards and entertainment poor apart from Perry Grant. We are Diamond Plus members and seeing recently that standards are dropping although the staff as always are terrific. Come on RCCL we've spent thousands of pounds with your company give us some decent discount on what was a dissasterous cruise! Read Less

See belowThis truly was a disaster. My wife's 50th birthday treat, a weeks cruise. My wife was either angry or in tears for the week. Everything was going well until the first day proper when going to use the bathroom it was flooded. Not convenient when needing the toilet. Let that one slide after staff came round rodded the pipes and staff cleaned and sterilized. 2 days later went for breakfast. Asked a member of staff for some toasted white bread. Curtly informed that "its over there" I then explained that there was non only brown and got the same reply and he walked off. So I wandered around the Windjammer restaurant until I found some was brought out The very next day I went to the cafe on the Royal Promenade. Many things were on offer Pizza Rolls that had been made up by the staff behind the counter. I asked if they could make me a cheese and tomato roll as I didn't like the ones they had made. You can guess the answer...No. They did offer to make a turkey roll. I don't like turkey. At dinner ate nothing while wife ate due to not liking fatty foods lamb etc. Should mention the day before had an excellent mushroom soup. Woke up the next morning at 0645hrs by noise of machinery outside my cabin door. On getting dresssed to find out what the hell was going on, I found a maintenance worker rodding the pipes again. My neighbour in the next cabin was outside his cabin door and informed me that he had gone to use the toilet and found it flooded. I went inside my cabin and found the same. Due to previous incidents my sense of humour was really being tested. Wife at this point broke down in tears and wanted to go home. I would have left the ship if my car hadn't been at Southampton. I enquired as to moving to another cabin but was assured that all other cabins were taken. Went to the windjammer restaurant for breakfast and spoke to asst manager and informed him of incidents. He said he would arrange to have a nice fillet stake available in the main restaurant for me the next evening as an apology. I thanked him. The next evening in the main restaurant was not offered the steak so again ate nothing. I have saved the best until last. The last day of the cruise (yesterday) My wife went to the toilet only to find that she could not flush. The reason being that there was no water in the toilet. I then had to fill the toilet with water from the tap in the bathroom using the kettle. Finally I was able to flush the faeces away. I reported the matter and the problem was fixed. Staff at the front desk rang up and as we had suffered we would be be given a 20% credit off our next cruise. I refused this, I was then offered a steak dinner, I refused this and was then as a last resort offered a bottle of wine. I nearly exploded. Last night i was woken by what I thought was water sloshing about. I got up out of bed to find not only had the bathroom flooded yet again but that it had spilled over the protective lip of the bathroom and was now soaking the carpet. I got dressed, the good lady was fuming and I was a touch more than angry, I stormed down to the front desk only to find my neighbour forcefully explaining that for the third time this week and by far the worst flooding had happend. This was at 0200hrs local. I had an early call booked for 0600hrs. Staff offered both of us other rooms and explained they were ones with a balcony. As that was going to make a difference to the cruise experience. My wife and I then packed and moved everything up one floor and to the other end of the ship. Best thing about this cruise was getting off the ship. The who thing was a complete disaster. I was assured by my booking agent that Royal Carribean were a first rate cruise line. I was badly misinformed. This was our first and will probably be the last cruise I will ever go on. Is there a decent cruise line out there I wonder. I doubt any compensation will be forthcoming as an apology. I certainly wouldn't accept any discount or pay for any cruise that Royal Carribean would offer unless it was gratis for ruining my wifes 50th birthday present. (I will inform if they offer this but don't hold your breath). As soon as I can I will post pictures and video on You tube. They may say I am lying but no matter I would tell them to have a look at the maintenance mans log and it will confirm. Read Less

The ship is great for you if you like to sit around most the day doing nothing but reading books or listening to poor songs on the radio. The ship has scarce entertainment, mostly starting late night (10:30,11:30) and to be honest it isn’t worth staying up for. You get corny comedians quoting jokes from every generic comedy show, tribute shows that are absolute cringeworthy, overall the entertainment is very poor and it is not a lot to be missed if you choose to not go like I have the last few days. Out of the 7 days I sailed, 3 of those the swimming pools were out of order due to maintenance and when they were back up and running they were absolutely stone cold, nobody was going in them due to the temperature of the water. The food in the “main dining room” is the same stuff you’d get in the self serve buffet, all that is different is the fancy presentation, the unacceptable wait times and the main difference, the food is cold when you have it in the main dining room. As for the “shopping mall” you get 3 shops, selling overpriced perfumes, watches and other overpriced gimmicks such as hoodies and caps (utterly stupid merchandise) there are no shops where you can buy refreshments or snacks, no off duty shops to purchase anything. It is abismal. The atmosphere feels like that of what I imagine the titanic to be like during the descent into the ocean, it feels as if we are all sailing to our impending doom, everyone is miserable, it is honestly the worst experience I have had in a long time. The ship is unsafe, my partner got trapped in a “sensored” door which shut on here abruptly as she was walking through (this is being taken further one off the ship) which led to sitting in the medical room for a couple of hours. I will never be returning to this cash grab of a ship, I feel like the company is more concerned about extracting all the pennies they can out of you whilst on board instead of actually putting anything together to entertain you whilst you are with them. Considering you pay them all the money, we then had to fork out €70 for a shuttle bus, every other cruise liner organised these things for you. Royal Caribbean are a joke and they do not deserve the money they ask for, go with other cruise liners you will get a lot more value for your money and feel appreciated instead of feeling like a walking piggy bank that the company will try to shake out every last penny from you. We chose this cruise as it was going to places we wanted to go to, at the time we wanted to go and was the right price I had been looking forward to this cruise to have a couple of weeks away from cooking, and meal planning. I only found out some worrying things about the vegetarian food served in the dining rooms whilst I was on board after a couple of nights. Firstly even though food was on the menu with a v next to it, and at the bottom of the menu it showed the V next to vegetarian, after asking for food to be sent back as it had non vegetarian cheese on it that these foods were available as vegetarian, but weren't necessarily vegetarian. I had to explain to the head waiter why some cheeses weren't vegetarian and in this day & age that shouldn't be necessary, and when i spoke about vegetarian wine, i may as well have sprouted a second head as they (the waiter, head waiter and wine expert) didn't believe there was such a thing. I had to prove this was the case when i had to buy wine when off the ship to be able to drink on the ship as they couldn't sell me anything they had.(all you have to do is ask google if a wine is vegetarian or not) and the desserts were a joke, at lunchtime when there were about 20 desserts available, not one was vegetarian. When calling their after cruise line I was told i should have told the relevant people onboard, I did, from the Maitre d to the head chef and waiting staff. I explained the food wasn't satisfactory and was told that I had too high expectations and they couldn't help that I wasn't satisfied, and they weren't my nanny!! I was thanked for taking the time to call them but was told they never compensate unless someone has died, she didn't seem to care that my holiday was ruined or that i was severely disappointed with the cruise. Other than that, the normal food wasn't that great, the luggage at embarkation was a mess, the disembarkation was even worse, the cabin was small with a tiny bathroom, with the toiletries being 2 bars of soap and a nasty yellowed plastic thing in the shower that was 2 in 1 shampoo. The evening entertainment was poor to say the least and there were too many silly things on during the day so you could easily miss something, they could have done less but better ones. The staff towards the end of the cruise were very invasive as they all wanted to get a good rating on the survey, to the point of me having to ask one of the waiters to leave us alone after 20 minutes of being interrogated as to the rating we would give him. The prices for everything on the ship were not even vaguely reasonable with a standard tube of Pringles being $9.99, and a glass of wine and a gin and tonic at $19. I would love to say some great things about this cruise but the best bits were the frozen yoghurt on the sunbathing deck and the weather. Read Less

Family celebration with a total of 11 adults and children. Several had more, some less cruise experience. Started off with having to call because of candy wrappers, and crumbs on couch and near full windows of our suite. Luggage did not arrive until after 9 p.m.. Main dining was very good (our attendants were excellent!). Buffet was the worst, food cold, was generally not good quality and we quickly ate all meals in the main dinning room. Entertainment was fair although never went to some events (ice skating for example) because of limited times and overcrowding. We had several smaller kids who with adults went to the game area which had no cruise supervision and my wife was knocked down by teenagers running thruout the area. Estimate 25% of games were out of order. Used childcare with average results. Honfleur/Deauville shore excusion was 3 out of 5. Honfleur was pleasant town with nice presentation. Deauville was a drop-off for an hour with no recommendation where to visit or background. Galicia Cellare tour - have been on several winery tours and all were excellent. We drove 2 1/2 hours to winery. We walked to entrance and waited for a few people who needed assistance and people asked questions about the grapes. It was mentioned they were in the process of bottling the wine but never saw the inside and were escourted to an area for wine tasting and where to buy product. Probably 45 min in total. Drove another hour to small town where no background was given and were told to come back in an hour. All the way back the guide complained about the US even though he was wearing his Nike shoes and apparel (he had never been to the US). Rate 1 of 5. We also took an independent tour of Lisbon with We Hate Tourism group. Will review then at another time. Took the Galley tour our second to last day. They were very specific - no open toe shoes and we will teach everyone how to wash their hands like the crew. Over 30% had open toe shoes, no one washed their hands and observed at least 3 times crew handling food without gloves. The chef? who did the tour spoke so soft no one could hear most of his presentaion. Our special lunch afterward was the worst of the week in terms of food and service. Rating 1 of 5 We carried our luggage off of the ship. We got in line to take a taxi to the train station which was a mile away to go to Gatwick. The driver said there was no train but he could take us for 300 pounds. This was confirmed by the port authority individual standing there. I guess they were working together. I told him to take me to the station where there was of course many trains going to Gatwick. I sent my concerns to R/C and have waited over a month with no answer, thus I have submitted this review. If you want to eat after 10 in the evening and want more then a roll or a burnt pizza. Entertainment was a joke the cruise director needs replacing. Example colouring by numbers as an afternoon entertainment. The cruise seemed to concentrate on people who were returning customers rather then new. Formal nights were a joke, you got dressed up to walk into the dining room for your evening meal which you had done the night before. no captain, no entertainment, nothing special at all. did not bother after the 1st one. If you Smoke you are normally allowed to smoke in casino. Not on this ship on formal days all day, weather was bad so could not go up on deck and had to use cigar room which had such poor extractors and stunk, In the casino ashtray was a floor standing one which staff emptied out the ashtrays from the slot machines into and never got emptied all day. Everyone i spoke to and me included had charges for services not used added to bills. AFter 8 days at sea managed to get 3 hours in Boston. Management of Immigration was a joke we should have been first a 6.30 with people on excursions ( instead approx 1500 in gue, emigration delayed .with people queuing for 3 or more hours, will not go on but all i will say is i saw people crying with boredom, This cruise turned into a prison sentence. so will i use again never twice crew members maimed to music on the bridge on the promenade and that was about as lively as it got. This was our first experience of Royal Caribbean but sadly, very likely to be our last. Embarkation and disembarkation went quite quickly and smoothly but that is about it for the positives. We did not choose or cabin as it was part of a package deal but found it to be one of the smallest inside cabins we have ever had, very cramped. It was not very clean and obviously had not been hovered in a while as various items found on floor and in draws (hairgrips, buttons etc). The lack of complimentary toiletries was appalling, not even a shower cap ! Our bedding was not changed at all and turndown service was almost non existent. The food overall was poor and lukewarm and service in the main dining room slow. We felt a general lack of enthusiasm and disinterest from most of the staff. We booked two shore excursions on board, The Kennedy Space centre experience was very good from start to finish, but the New York Hop on/Hop off bus trip was terrible with nobody about to ensure safety or transport back to the ship. Might as well have saved money and booked it on line privately. Not much going on in the way of activities for a transatlantic cruise with several days at sea and sadly the entertainment (apart from the Ice show) was very poor. If I did a transatlantic again (this was my second) it would not be with Royal Caribbean on this ship. Read Less

We chose this cruise after sampling a PandO cruise in May. we liked that so much that we wanted to go again soon - having a small child meant that we have to stick to school holidays and this cruise was the only one available. Even though it was October we thought there would be enough to do on board to make it enjoyable. How wrong we were. There was hardly anything to do away from the elements which did not cost large amounts of money. The cabin - compared to P and O - was shabby- a stained, tatty settee, scuffed furniture, lots of dust under the bed, tatty shower room. the rooms were not sound proofed sufficiently and there were constant tannoys encouraging you to come along and spend yet more money! compared to P and O we could not believe the cost of things on board - I do not mind spending money but I object to being fleeced. The restaurants: the main dining room was poor - luke warm food with little taste. The "cafeteria" was little better - and it was nearly impossible to find a table regardless of when you turned up. finally I became seriously ill with food poisoning on the second night and I am still suffering now - despite several staff being aware of this no one followed up on how I was. The stairs were filthy. On quite a few occassions there were no cups in the morning for coffee and no butter or peanut butter. When I asked to have peanut butter or butter one morning I was handed, from a cabinet, 2 tubs. I said “there is none of these things out” and he shut the door and walked away from me. We had to call 5 times because air conditioner was not working. They lost 2 of our bags for a whole section of luggage, #4, when we departed the ship and we were the first ones off. They have you put tags on your luggage but the numbers were all over the place and not where they were suppose to be. I don’t understand why there was no quality control who noticed that a partial section was missing it’s luggage. Read Less

Have just come back from this cruise and if you do not want to spend 14 nights without any sleep make sure you are not in room 9601or 9603. We spent every night being woken up at 1 and 3 in the morning by loud bangs and then the sound of gushing water. To be told that the main pipe ran through the room and they were emptying the Jacuzzi. On a positive note the main dinning room staff and room staff were fantastic and cannot give them enough praise for making all our dining in the main dinning room and windjammers very enjoyable. As treat we did the chefs table which I could highly reccommed the food and wine were amazing and the waiter very knowledgeable in the wines that were provide and how they matched the food. First of all, I previously cruised with Royal Caribbean "Allure of the Seas", and it was so exhilarating, I was looking forward to cruising with their Navigator of the Seas. Alas, I was completely disappointed in my experience with this ship. Here are some of the reasons: 1. When the ship docked, there was no one to direct passengers to the gangway. Yes, there were signs posted on the walls, but when a whole crowd of people are in the hallway, the signs can't be seen, and there is a lot of confusion about which way to go - right or left. Some passengers, were even saying that the exit was at the other end of the ship. This same confusion and scenario repeated itself at subsequent ports. It would have been so simple if there was a staff member at, or near the elevators directing people to the exit door leading to the gangway. 2. All the poultry and fish in the main dining room and the Windjammer were overcooked. The gravest, culinary sin was the "Filet Mignon" in the Windjammer, which was way overdone, chewy, and quite ghastly. A hockey puck would have tasted better. 3. The majority of food was also over-salted, yet the scrambled eggs, omelets, etc. had no salt and were quite tasteless. 4. To be fair, the tastiest food on the Navigator of the Seas was the Italian food. This is not my favourite type of food, but it was the tastiest on this ship. 5. For those passengers who do not particularly like gambling or drinking, there were not enough other activities to keep one interested and entertained on this ship. A lot of the activities were quite boring, and too many of them ended up being sales pitches, and "buy", "buy", "buy" events. 6. The shows were amateurish, almost laughable compared to those on the "Allure of the Seas" (for example). They were lacking professionalism, polish and finesse, and they reminded us passengers of high school concerts that just don't quite make the grade. 7. A few times, the Dance Fit classes were scheduled to be held pool side, but because of inclement weather, the activity moved inside to the Cosmopolitan Club, and no announcement was made, so those of us who arrived a minute or two later, had to ask the lifeguard where was the class, and if he did not know, he had us ask the Towel Rental guy about it. Lovely. Such poor communication and customer service for a cruise ship. This was aggravating and irritating to us passengers. 8. The Line Dance class was cancelled, and no announcement was made. Those of us who showed up for it at poolside then thought that it must have moved to the Cosmopolitan Club. So the group of us headed up to the Club. Nothing was happening there, and the personnel there knew nothing about any Line Dance class. Rushing down to Guest Services, we were then informed that the class was cancelled. When we asked why was the cancellation not announced, the answer was that "not too many people are interested in that class". A simple announcement saying that the "Line Dance class has been cancelled" would have been the courteous thing for Royal Caribbean to do for the few of us who wanted to do this activity. 9. Some of us tried to enjoy table tennis, but Deck 14 was so windy for so many days, that it was impossible to play. If this happens more often than not, why doesn't Royal Caribbean devise some sort of enclosure that blocks off the wind so that passengers can enjoy this activity? Thumbs down for this ship, its activities, its entertainment, and its food. Read Less

We like the food. Their provision for various diets was excellent. We are particularly interested in gluten free food and their provision was outstanding. There are a lot of various activities and theatre shows were outstanding. We did go on 2 excretions and they were both well organised and very good. We ate at the Windjammer all the time. Our daughter, husband and their 2 children also came on the same cruise and it was very nice to be together. We went to all the theatre shows which were a mixture of singing, dancing and comedy. They were all 1st class. We also watched the ice skating show which was excellent. The children went on different activities including rock climbing which they enjoyed. The stateroom attendant was very good and efficient. He used the towels to create miniature animals (monkey etc.) and leave in the room. The cabin was tidied up and cleaned twice a day. All in all it was probably the best holiday we had. Read Less

Amazing experience, totally recommend Royal Caribbean Navigator of the Seas. We had an amazing holiday, so relaxing and great there is an adults sunbathing area separated from the children's area. All staff exceptional, food great, entertainment great. Stayed on the ship in Malaga as after seeing Italy I don't think there was any comparison. Two downsides with the execursions which are expensive: 1) Rome in a Day - far too packed and would be good to focus on just one area (i.e. the Vatican, instead of the Colossium, Trevis Fountain and the Vatican) 2) Beautiful Portifino - advertised as 90 minutes by speed boat. Actually a 45 minute ride by bus and then 15 minutes on a Ferry. But Royal Caribbean did refund all passengers 30%. I can honestly say this was one of my best holidays, I will definitely book with Royal Caribbean again. Does anyone know how we can join the loyalty programme? Read Less

We are ardent and addicted cruisers (just in 2017 we are having 6 cruises). We love good service and we are willing to pay for it. So we choose to sail as suite guests. Before we book this cruise we've been told, that the cruise ship was refurbished in 2014. We also been told, that the beloved coastal kitchen will not be on board, however the Chops will be operated very comparable as breakfast and lunch venue. Well - to make things short. The ship is old and the suite was everything else but refurbished. The carpet was from 2002, as was the furniture. Many doors did not close, some parts of the furniture been loose or missing. Not only that, also simple fixes like paint or glue wasn't used too much. Not only that the suite was very old and down lived, it was also bad maintained and dirty. The overall cabin experience was very disappointing. The concierge lounge was dark (no windows) and stinky. Not really a place you like to be in. The concierge itself is great, but what can she do if the ship is just not what it should be? Also - she has not the power to fix things. We asked plenty of time to talk to the F&B Manager but it was denied until the end of the cruise. Dining - a huge and important task of cruising. The quality of main dining food was very low. We just disembarked Norwegian couple of weeks ago and the difference is like day and night. Quality of food on the Navigator was low and the service probably the grumpiest we ever seen on a cruise ship. We complained but nothing changed. Not a single bit of smile on the service. We tried it 3 times but then we gave up. Paid extra for the specialty restaurants or just went to Windjammer. Windjammer was a bit better from the food but the quality of ingredients been low to. Chops for breakfast and lunch - what a joke. No passion, no love, no suite service. Lunch is only served on sea days, and then, you are having 3 dishes to choose from. Chicken, Beef or Vegie. Every sea day the same. Also - on sea days every "normal" guest could come to have lunch at Chops - for 20 USD. But surprise, that guest receives a full menue with plenty of choices. What a joke - a suite guest which pays thousands of dollars extra upfront will be served 3 choices and every other guest can upgrade for 20 USD for a much better experience. Room Service - had nice menus in the room, but if you want to order it happens 8 out of 10 times, that they told you it is not available. On the other side - breakfast on room service was excellent. Specialty Restaurants - Chops was ok but far below the experience of the bigger ships. Sabor was "so la la"... probably a 3 out of 10. Giovanni was unexpectedly the best experience. We really liked it, but again and I would give a 8 out of 10. Drinking - well - I love wines therefore I have the Ulitmate Package. There are a lot of wines by the glass. Many are below 14 USD but most are above (means you have to pay extra). That wouldn't really be an issue, but most of the wines have not been on board at all. So you order a wine and you have been told that the wine is sold out as it is just the second cruise after the Atlantic transfer and the restock didn't happen yet. Well - I have to pay the full fee and expect the full dining and drinking experience. By the way - it happens 12 times that the wine I was asking for wasn't available. Cocktails are ok - the pool bar guys are great. The windjammer team is 50/50 - half is great and half is lousy. Again - it misses the passion of the team. As I said we had the ultimate package - but please don't try to order a Espresso and a water on the same time. They will tell you "only one at a time". I would understand if I would like to order two beers on the same time, but an espresso and a water - in most restaurants this is standard anyway. Big mistake Royal! The shows - a lot of singing, but no musical or big show like on other ships. The concierge seats are on the upper balcony - so make sure to bring your googles otherwise you are not part of the show. The ice show on the other hand was amazing. Very entertaining and a lot of fun. Internet - well, RCL did it again. They sell you Internet Voom Service but it is everything else then Voom. What happens is, that they are having Satellites up there which are beaming into the main sailing regions to provide fast internet. This works well in the Caribbean and Mediterranean. But (all experienced by ourselves) - if you are sailing in areas like Asia, Mid East, Northern Canada or like in our this year trip in the Baltic sea - there is just almost no reception. Means - you might be able to receive a text message but please don't even try to stream movies of sending pictures to the beloved ones. What I don't understand - RCL knows that before selling it but they still do. Nevertheless they tell you to read the disclaimer that this can happen. I think this is fraud! Selling is actually also a key word. After complaining at the main dining room our head waiter came and said sorry. He then said "we are offering Galley Tours" and asked if we would be interested. We thought it is kind of a nice gesture after having a bad dining experience. But after we said that we would love to join for the galley tour he said, this will be 35 USD per person. So even in the event of bad service and saying sorry, the head waiter tries to sell something. Also - you can hardly walk the royal promenade as it is overloaded with sales booths. Whenever you are walking through the ship they try to sell you something - souvenirs, massages, specialty restaurants, shoe insoles, etc. etc. .... you feel like on the Royal Bazar. Disembarkation on port days. Well - badly organized. In Saint Petersburg it took 90 Minutes to leave the ship. People been queuing up and squeezing on the stair cases. The cruise director announced that "we are working on it" instead of organizing things better. Would have been easy to tell people to go back to their rooms until things are organized. I also would expect to have for suite guests an extra exit. Again - it is not existing. Other cruise lines are doing that - Royal not. What else to say - well, I could complain a lot but don't want to over stress the situation. I would not recommend to book a suite on this ship as you don't receive much of an extra service or any perks you really would enjoy. You are treated like everyone else even by paying a lot of extra. The ship is old and did see the best days long time ago. The refurbishment in 2014 was majorly the extension and adding of many rooms. It was more about making more revenues instead of adding a better and fresh cruise experience. Overall experience - you can feel that the company saves costs on every corner. You also can feel that they have a head of revenue on board (thats actually the only Officer you really can tell it is on board!). Everywhere they try to sell you something. The ship is old and needs an overhaul badly. The crew needs to be trained and the concierge lounge needs to be relocated to a place with windows. On top of it - add the Royal Suite Program. This here - is anything else than a sweet suite experience. Read Less

I am not a seasoned cruiser by any means but have sailed enough to understand a good ship, good value for money and just how enjoyable cruising can be. The Navigator is a ship that is showing its age, it has been on the sea since 2002 and the facilities are dated. The dining room service is awful, passengers needing hospital treatment after eating in the main restaurant is the worst we heard but by the end of the cruise the windjammer at night was a busy place as more and more people stopped attending the main dining room to eat due to the really poor quality of the food. Docking was unorganised at every port with long delays getting on and off board and the final departure at Southampton was farcical. All normal exits from the ship were sealed off and you were not allowed to use them, everyone was herded into the dining room and made to make a big loop right around level four, as we had chosen to take our own bags off, the environment was a health and safety hazard, everyone was trying to negotiate their luggage around chairs and tables and a lot of tempers became flared. My recommendation is avoid the Navigator of the seas at all costs if you can, I know there are a lot of people from this cruise who will boycott the ship going forward. Poor food, poor service, jumped up staff and just an all round poor experience Read Less

I was recovering from Cancer, and the cruise was a delayed 70th birthday celebration. Celebration!!!! That was the last thing this cruise was. I had believed that Royal Caribbean would be a reputable company, but it seemed that you penny-pinched in almost every corner of the ship. The shows were abysmal. Only two of them were worthy to be called shows, these were the 'Beatles' and the Ice Dance. All the rest were the scrapings of a very poor talent pool. Docking in the US was a disaster. I was incapacitated and needed a walking frame, this was the only reason that we finally got to disembark in Boston. We were told when we booked that we would have a full day in Boston, not just 3 hours and we had docked in time to have a full day. While we were queuing, we discovered that we needed another 'green' form in addition to the ESTA. Where were these forms in the six days before we docked? It was an insult to the European passengers to have to wait while preference was given to US Citizens I have never seen this happen on any of the cruises I have enjoyed. Trying to process 2,500 people in the few hours allotted to us in Boston was ridiculous. To add insult to injury, in an apology to the passengers, the captain invited us to have a drink on him. What good was that to people who had purchased their drinks package. Cabins on Decks 2/3 were flooded and there was nowhere to put the unfortunate passengers while the cabins dried out. In New York, we were told that we would have two days in the city. We arrived at 5 pm and left at 7 pm the next day, that makes 27 hours, not 48. We had been informed that we were docking in Cape Liberty, New Jersey and had made plans for transport accordingly. It was just by accident that we discovered that we were docking in Manhattan. We had understood that we would have time to have a whistle stop tour of Miami but when we arrived, we had barely enough time to get to the airport, the only part of Miami we saw was from a cab window. In essence, this trip gave us access to just two cities, not the four as per the schedule. The public restrooms were clean, but in at least three different locations the toilets had backed up and were not working. NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!! The saving grace was the dining room staff, they had to pacify a lot of disgruntled passengers. Would I travel with Royal Caribbean again? NEVER. Read Less

No activities during the day, No exercise, dance or yoga classes. Only trivia, if you like trivia. RCCL trivia scheduled for 5:00 pm which interferes with guests dressing for dinner. Items in Cruise Compass so very hard to read because print was so very small and cruise director would not accept constructive criticism. Captain and Hotel director were only seen one time. Captain at top tier. Hotel Director at meal with an officer. Not friendly like other ships captains and hotel directors. Other officers and all staff were visible, friendly and helpful. Terrence, Loyalty ambassador did not care, did not follow through. Had to tell him numerous times that I was to get a block on this cruise and that I did not get all of my amenities. Transferred out on 2nd NY day and new loyalty ambassador seemed very nice, friendly and eager to learn to do the job correctly, listening to suggestions from guests.. No captains table. No pinnacle picture. Immigration in Boston was absolutely the worst I have ever seen. US citizens had no problems. But some foreigners did not finish the process until after 3:00 pm and could not go out into Boston to see the sights. There were no computers available to check the electronic ESTAs. And the ship did not have paper forms. What a nightmare. Lines and angry guests. Read Less

Being an experienced cruiser with many different cruise lines, and as Diamond Club members of Royal Caribbean, my wife and I looked forward to this transatlantic journey for the ship, the food, the entertainment and for the stop in Boston, one of the few ports we hadn't been to. We were horribly dissappointed on all counts! Anything involving guest relations was terribly mismanaged, with lack of knowledge and no professionalism, and any attempt to meet with the Guest Relations manager was refused! (6 of us booked the cruise and registered to dine together....it required 3 hours in line to correct the mistake of seating each of us at a different tables..... spa facilities were refused....took 2 hours in line for them to be reinstated but robes were unavailable....they were promissed within 3 days but then guest relations claimed they didn't have enough because former passengers had stolen them...) Food at lunch was the same every day and dinner was totally unspectacular. Entertainment was worse than poor. Movies on board were geared to young children. Activities were pathetic. But these were not the most upsetting things about this cruise ! As I said...for us the highlight of the cruise was to be Boston, but Royal Caribbean arranged for passengers who bought excursions from them to go through immigration first. For the rest of us with foreign passports there was a 5 hour wait in line with the only ship personnel available to us , the accountant of the ship and some trainees, and the discovery when we finally got to the head of the line that we had been given the wrong declaration forms ( which we had asked for days preceding the Boston port day....but had been refused!!) I must add that the captain and senior crew of the ship were nowhere to be found....not that day or any day of the entire 13 day cruise!!! We are foreign nationals who have never faced any form of discrimination but this is not only discrimination it is also bribery! If we had bought an excursion they would have arranged to get us off the ship but since we didn't they will punished us and arranged for it to be too late to see any of Boston!?!?!? The written apology on the captain's behalf the following day and the two free drinks doesn't begin to be compensation for missing a port!!! It is an insult !!!! Read Less

Having a home in England and a winter home in Florida we always cruise both both ways, in November and April. Usually the cruise lines try to make this repositioning cruise special but from the moment we boarded it had the feeling of a ferry. Food in the self-service and main dining room was of the cheapest quality so much so that one night after two inedible dishes I ordered eggs & chips. Formal night, soy meatballs as a main item!! The promenade resembled an eastern market every day. The staff must have a pep talk everyday being told to sell, sell, sell. Internet rates at $27.99 for 24 hours with streaming that did not work, no provision to just spend 10 minutes to check emails. When booking, it was arranged that we disembark at Port Canaveral rather than Miami. On board we were told that there was no provision to take our luggage to the customs hall and we would have to carry it ourselves as they "Don't have the finances " to utilise the dock stevedores. After a call to the RCCL head office, this was resolved but for over a week we were wondering how 2 disabled pensioners would transport 9 pieces of luggage to the dock. This, coupled with the other problems, made this a very disappointing trip. Two couples are returning with us in April and I suggested that I book 3 staterooms on the ship to get the best rates but have decided to return and now booked with another cruise line. Read Less

first cruise on Navigator of the Seas and most definitely our last! Poor quality food, very little choice, no fish selection of vegetables or fish, served luke warm and repetitive. I would liken the food to a budget holiday camp! Poor entertainment and little to do on board other than gamble in the casino and drink copious amounts of alcohol to numb the boredom! Unkempt passengers with shocking manners! The most uncomfortable bed i have ever slept on, but was offered a piece of sponge off the cabin boy to put on the bed to help the issue, unbelievable really! Cruiser staff constantly on the sell to make more money, overpriced drinks at bar. Overall the Navigator of the Seas cruise ship needs a complete makeover, revamped food menu and staff professionally trained to actually cook food and serve it HOT! Entertainment programmer seriously needs to look into hiring professional and exciting acts! I would not recommend this cruise ship at all unless you are not fussy about quality food and entertainment, which usually, may I add, decent cruise ships offer, but not this one! Read Less

This was our first Cruise and we had been advised by friends this would be a good place to start. How wrong were they ! Boarding at Southampton was not a problem to be fair shame it took a downward spiral ! First impressions of the ship were somewhat marred by a musty smell in the corridor leading to our stateroom on deck 8 (room 8304) must add this smell was not to be noticed elsewhere and our room though dated in outlook was fine apart from a stained and grubby looking sofa and carpet. We chose 'Our Time' dining as we like to do our own thing an not to be stuck to a routine. Our first taste of dining was in the Windjammer which was self serve. The food though varied in choice was often found to be Luke warm and as a couple one out of the two of us had to sit and wait at our table while the other went for food. Two nights into the cruise we chose a formal night which was in the Sapphire a Dining Room, surroundings were very nice but the food left a lot to be desired, enough to put us off eating in there again , put it this way we ordered lamb it was that raw it was still running around the plate ! Which the following morning we both had bad stomaches. The entertainment left a lot to be desired apart from a fantastic pianist in the 'schooner bar' David Curtis, who encouraged passengers to join in singing. Unfortunately this was marred by selfish parents who allowed their young children to run around the ship at all hours an often ruin the night (how a mother could sit on a stool beside a grand piano while the pianist played and proceed to change her baby's nappy, it's beyond words) The bar staff tried their best to accommodate all guests but sheer numbers of passengers were just too much to cope with, this left you waiting quite a while to get served . To add to this toilets for M/F were located at each end of the ship, there were none near any of the bars and to make it worse when needed most nights either men's or ladies seemed to be having maintenance done which meant you would have to go to the other end of the ship as all floors were affected by this maintenance problem. Our first stop was Gibraltar for the amount of people getting off an back on the timescale was not long enough . Next was Villefranche was next, you have to get up early an get a ticket to get a shuttle boat our ticket was no 17 which meant we waited another hour from the time we could get off the ticket numbers went beyond 30 some passengers gave up getting off! Villefranche was beautiful lovely beach . Next stop was Corsica what a horrid place next Sardinia got off 8am nothing was open til 10:30am ! Horrid place next was Mallorca (Palma) two days or day n half this was so worth it but when you got off we were not told you would have to pay 10 or 15 Euros for the shuttle bus. Next Malaga this was nice don't get a taxi from the port they rip you off. We got a taxi in town 25 Euros along the coast to either Torremelinos Benalmadena Fuengirola Or Marbella local bus was cheaper return for two 3.30 Euros straight to the port. Next Cadiz worst place of all total waste of time. On the days at sea you have no chance of a sun bed unless you got up at around 6am not even enough chairs. Passengers were laying on the floor! Not a chance paid £5.5k for a cruise to lay on the floor! Adults only section only managed to get a bed 3 times in the two weeks what a joke. The other pool area well talk about 'Butlins at Sea' screaming kids running everywhere parents not looking after their kids, and the pool entertainment was so loud the seemed to be shouting bloody awful. RC seemed to have a strange idea of what an English pub is like based on the Two Poets Pub on board, which which seemed intent on piping Irish old folk songs continually in a dark dull wooden effect surrounding more like Shakespeare era no atmosphere at all. There was a wine bar larger than the pub which was always empty when asking the staff why it was there we were advised Americans prefer this? But this cruise had 99%english on board ? What a waste of space. A good sports bar would have been good. Disembarkment was swift thankfully as we could not wait to get off ! Read Less

Before we think about the negatives let us just recognise the superb itinerary and very smooth tendering for Villefranche. The weather was perfect. Many crew were exemplary. However, Royal Caribbean have descended into a parody of Travelodge at Sea. Our cabin was not the only one not prepared and where the lavatory failed to flush on eleven days of the fourteen. Water to the washbasins, both in the stateroom and the public restrooms, was luke warm. You can at least guarantee a clean comfortable bed in a clean room with soap in a functioning bathroom in Travelodge, and cheaper motels around the world. You would hope the bathroom floor would have a wash before, or at sometime during, the cruise I would agree that RCI has gone as low as it can go. The dining room food was always tepid and "We are aware of the issue and are looking into it" fails to actually deal with whatever the cause is. Flowers on the table don't make the meal but they do set the ambience and the lack of them disappointed. We were used to a dining experience rather than "being fed", a expression heard over and over. Along with the notion that "never again" RCI. Who would have thought that fresh black pepper would be discouraged, and often the mill lost? Many diners prefer some pepper their meals, and at least the offer. No time for the niceties of dining and soon you will only get a good ambience in the "pay for" restaurants. Though, the stench of burnt flesh emanating from the Japenese restaurant each night was enough to put many off having smelled it. The table waiters and head waiters do their best in what has become only the faintest echo of what was an excellent service. At least a drink at the bar would be right, wouldn't it? Not if the under eighteens are four or five deep asking, often demanding, their plastic beaker refills. Families, big or small, are delightful and you anticipate a high proportion in a school holiday. Children running wild are not a delight and were often dangerous finding the hottest things on board to need to chase each other with and sliding on wasted food. It was saddening to see so many uncared for children. Royal's loyalty schemes are meaningless when children take over the Diamond Lounge leaving insufficient seating for those who's loyalty have earned their place in this sanctuary. A policy rethink is needed and a decision to be clear about what loyalty means. The cleanliness of the public places was excellent to start but by the last week the battle with the mess of food and drink spilt and abandoned was lost. It used to be difficult to tell whether a crew member had been partying but now you feel you are fitting in with their lives. It is hard to be admiring of a sous chef working a ten hour day for the length of a two month contract when so many of us haven't the luxury of fourteen hours off per day with no commuting! Yes, not run by the crew but for the crew these days. Our concerns were shared while onboard and on the final day we accepted $200 obc, which we cashed. This in preference to a discount on a future cruise. We wouldn't cruise again with this line in its present state. The "onboard chest infection", is the final insult to what has lost all chance of being a Wow from Royal. So, this is, we are very sad to say, our last RCI cruise. We no longer fit their preferred demographic Read Less

The food most of the time luke warm , I had raw pork and a hair in my scrambled egg , the sous chef was informed , he came out and apologised and said he couldn't watch everything ....after that I late the safer foods ...bread rolls and salad. Cheese and biscuits in the resturant ... 2 pieces of rather old cheese and a packet of salten crackers. Entertainment awful ... Nice was a no go due to the terrible situation which was just awful ....the trips were over priced , no real port info ..or as little as possible terrible queues it get in and off in Lisbon ..ended up with only a few hours there , no water etc on return to ship even in the very hot temps I could go on forever...I wish I had taken note of the reviews before I paid for my holiday ..I should have cancelled and rebooked with another company but did not believe it could be so bad .... The cruise started well but then deteriated after some bad weather that caused an alteration in the cruise. The staff seemed to fall apart as they couldn't seem to handle the issues. They didn't have enough staff to handle the huge amount of issues customers were encountering. They either didn't communicate well to passengers about the issues or gave misinformation. Many passengers were frustrated and left in the dark as to what was going on. The last straw was the disembarkation process which felt like no one was in charge and not even the staff of the ship knew what was going on. I was happy to just finally get off the ship. The cruise line also seemed completely uninterested with the dissatisfaction of the passengers. Terrible service. The food in the dining room was actually very good, but the buffet called "windjammer" was horrific. Ther would Beverly little to eat unless you like overly spiced, overlooked food. Read Less
