One of the reviewers correctly called this the marmite of the cruise world, you love it or hate it. We are in the love category. This was a fantastic cruise, fantastic staff, incredible entertainment and clean, comfortable with good food. This is the lower end of the cruise market, but we got more than we paid for with this one. I've done Italian cruise ships before and think if you just join in, ...

We had a fabulous time on this smaller ship where it was easier to get to know people. Easy embarkation/disembarkation at Southampton Superb service from all staff (special mentions to Roberto and Gustavo) Enjoyable food particularly considering the bargain price of the holiday Great value Allegrissimo drinks package strongly recommended Superb shows every night (never missed one) Great ...

This was a 'Farewell Opera' cruise as it's in it's final season from Southampton before being enlarged. It was amazing value for money and altogether excellent. We heard some passengers foolishly comparing the cruise to much more expensive lines. Having been on some of those lines we can only say we felt the service and food were better on this ship and the entertainment certainly was. The food ...

Having never sailed with MSC before ( I have sailed with Royal Carribean and NCL ) I was nervous , especially after reading the many bad reviews on this MSC Opera and MSC in general. Quite honestly I am mystified , everything was pretty much perfect. Embarkation at Southampton was smooth, organisation in general was perfectly fine, food was generally excellent , the ship was generally spotless , ...

Why all the poor reviews?

After reading some of the previous reviews we were a little concerned but need not have worried. The ship was spotless, food was excellent with plenty of choice. We dined in the restaurant rather than buffet and the service was very good. I was concerned that I might have to wait a long time for drinks but there were plenty of waiters to take my order in all bars and I never waited more than 2-3 ...

Without the company of Dale, Ross and a german lady called Irene the cruise would have been a failure. Boarding the ship at Southampton was poetry, so smooth and professional. Ventured around the ship and found it spotless, staff very helpfull and quick to serve. Met our other table guests for the cruise and did nothing but laugh at every evening meal. Went on some excursions but felt ripped off, ...

Bad Service & Queues

This was our first and last cruise with MSC. A two night taster cruise from Southampton to Guernsey. A temporary berth in the form of a marquee awaited us for embarkation. 2.5 hours later we boarded! No explanations as to delay it was chaos and definitely not organised! Trying to get a drink was a nightmare, staff were rude and blatantly did not like the fact that most people were on an all ...

Just returned from a mini cruise from Southampton to St Peter Port in Guernsey. We have been on many cruises, of various lengths, with lots of different companies. We enjoy going on mini cruises and enjoy experiencing the variety of cruise ships and companies. We have never been on one that we can say we wish we hadn't bothered.....until now! Embarkation was a nightmare. After being told to check ...

I have just returned from a two night cruise from Southampton to Guernsey on the MSC Opera and it was a total shambles from beginning to end. Luckily some of our party had arrive earlier than us and secured our waiting number to check in but they and everybody else had to wait three hours. There were not enough staff to cope as the ship was I am told fully booked. There were only two waiters in ...
