We boarded in Southampton without any problem, enroute to Amsterdam. The ship docked at Ijmuiden and we took the MSC "Amsterdam on your own" tour, effectively a shuttle bus into Amsterdam. The following day we arrived at Le Havre, and were given free transport into the city centre.Pleasant place to walk around and maybe give their tram system a go.
We had requested 2rd dining on the ship and on a ...
Had a lovely time onboard MSC Opera. The 21 days were very enjoyable. We had an inside cabin that was clean, quiet and comfortable and our cabin steward looked after us very well. The cabin was surprisingly light and felt roomy with plenty of storage space.
We ate dinner in the LA Caravella restaurant on the 2nd sitting, this was a perfect time to eat as it allowed a leisurely return to the ship ...
I just spent 10 horrific days on the oldest boat in the fleet - had I known this I would have never booked this trip. As always the staff was great (this was our 4th MSC cruise) but the ship was in horrible condition. Everything was in need of repair - on the first night the shower head fell on my husbands head when he turned the shower on, we couldn't get any soap out of the dispenser at the ...
We took an 11 day cruise out of Southampton to Northern Europe on the Opera ship. We booked a suite and it was roomy, it even had a walking closet, which was great. The ship, which is about 14 years is and has never been updated was fine. Personnel did a great job keeping in clean and in good shape. Overall, the services were not disappointing, however dinner (main dining was) was. Out of the 10 ...
One of the reviewers correctly called this the marmite of the cruise world, you love it or hate it. We are in the love category. This was a fantastic cruise, fantastic staff, incredible entertainment and clean, comfortable with good food. This is the lower end of the cruise market, but we got more than we paid for with this one. I've done Italian cruise ships before and think if you just join in, ...
We had a fabulous time on this smaller ship where it was easier to get to know people.
Easy embarkation/disembarkation at Southampton
Superb service from all staff (special mentions to Roberto and Gustavo)
Enjoyable food particularly considering the bargain price of the holiday
Great value Allegrissimo drinks package strongly recommended
Superb shows every night (never missed one)
Great ...
This was a 'Farewell Opera' cruise as it's in it's final season from Southampton before being enlarged. It was amazing value for money and altogether excellent.
We heard some passengers foolishly comparing the cruise to much more expensive lines. Having been on some of those lines we can only say we felt the service and food were better on this ship and the entertainment certainly was.
The food ...
This was the first cruise we had ever been on. Was very wary but was absolutely thrilled with every aspect of the cruise. Staff were amazing and always smiling and ready to help where needed. Food was out of this world, so much choice but something for everyone at any time of day or night. The ship itself was an absolute dream. Never seen so much opulence everywhere we went. We joined in with the ...
We are British and in our sixties. This was our 18th cruise; the 9th with MSC. We have always enjoyed the cosmopolitan experience that is indicative of this Italian line. The main national groups on this cruise were British, Dutch, German, Italian, French, Spanish & Portuguese. The multi-national aspect does not bother us, apart from the tedium of public announcements in 6 languages! This was our ...
Just returned from our first cruise on this ship (18th August) . Unfortunately the weather was not great and so the ship was unable to port in Guernsey which we were really looking forward to. The additional sea days were not really catered for by the ship. Most of the activities for adults were puerile and an insult to my intelligence and I found most of the shows I attended poor in quality.
My ...
