Wonderful staff and very comfortable ship..

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Braemar

I had only been on one cruise previously. It was on Braemar and I enjoyed it so much that I decided I would go on Braemar again in December. The destination wasn't important. It was the Carribean and it was a wonderful experience. The most important thing in my opinion was the wonderful staff and the great food on the Braemar. Entertainment was good - but wouldn't be really important to ...

This was our first Fred. Olsen experience, a repositioning cruise from Southampton to Barbados ending just before Christmas. Perhaps it was for that reason that the ship was only 2/3 full. We had picked just the right time to get caught up in the Gatwick drone chaos - but we anticipate. Read on for The Case of the Disgruntled Bridegroom. The deck plans for Braemar show no facilities for ...

Ship not fit to sail

I had the misfortune to sail to the Caribbean on Braemar just before Christmas. The ship had been in dry dock and was clearly not fit for guests. There were constant problems with the water and sanitary systems, both swimming pools and the jacuzzis weren't working, the TV system was out of order etc. Workmen were on deck every day painting, tiling and using strong smelling solvents so when we ...

The ship had been in dry dock prior to the cruise. The work had not been completed on time and the swimming pools were out of operation for most of the cruise. Lifts were not working for a large part of the cruise and areas were cordoned off for maintenance and painting works. The cruise should have been cancelled and money returned. £75 compensation was a derisory amount. The food at evening ...

We chose this cruise as a stress less way of crossing to Barbados for a family gathering. The cabin (except it’s location) was excellent, food amazing, good entertainment. The distances from the ship to port gates nearly finished us off, no shuttles of any kind for poor walkers. Our cabin was mid-ships as far away from elevator as possible even though I had repeatedly asked for easy ...

A HEALTH HAZARD

This was without doubt the worst "Holiday" I have ever had - sadly it was my first cruise. We were kept hanging about at Southampton until 4pm (no reason of the delay given). Straight to Cabin and to use the Loo - NOT WORKING! This was just the very start of all the problems this "CRUISE SHIP" was having... Lifts were out of order or being used by workmen and all their Clobber. Walk ...

As a widow I find Braemar to be an exceptionally friendly ship for single people. I have made friends with people so easily and have always asked for a table of 6 or 8 in the Grampian dining room which is a good social mix. The cabins are small but the new ones mid section are better and have bigger wardrobes and more drawers. I certainly would not consider storage adequate for 2 people but for ...
