Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Arvia

We have done 24 cruises on different lines over the years. We chose this as there were a lot of sea days and we thought there would be lots to do. Wrong. If don't you like line dancing and being given presentation on thing they are trying to sell you then you are left with little else. The ship is simply too big and the outside spaces and pools too small. There is a queueing system for ...

A Memorable Transatlantic Cruise – but not for the right reasons

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Celebrity Silhouette

We were staying in Southampton at the Moxy hotel for four nights prior to our Transatlantic cruise. It was windy and rainy, but nothing compared to storm Babet which was battering Scotland. The opposite side of the system whipped up waves along the Iberian Peninsula, having an impact on the prior Silhouette sailing. Some folks who were doing back-to-back alerted us to a likely delay long before ...

You get what you pay for

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Aurora

As I said in my title, you get what you pay for. The ship is getting on and looks a little faded in parts. The food is nowhere the level you would otherwise expect on a cruise. But hey, you get what you pay for. What I don't understand is why people who come on having paid a P&O price, expect a Regent Seven Seas service. This is an adult only ship which quite naturally attracts a fair amount of UK ...

We were in London and thought we would take transatlantic cruise back to US instead of flying. We have done this before and enjoyed it. We were notified by email that our sailing would be delayed due to weather so we left on Monday instead of Sunday. First they said we could board Sunday night from 11:00pm to 1:00am, then kept updating the times earlier lastly to 7:00pm. We stayed at a hotel ...

Birthday cruise. Boarded coach from Manchester Airport to Southampton. Best to be said for coach station was disorganised chaos. Eventually board coach for a pleasant journey to Southampton. Embarkation was easy and efficient. Found cabin which was a nice sized balcony cabin. Was quite clean (seals around shower where dirty and mouldy but cabin steward cleaned these once pointed ...

Special birthday cruise with Cunard in the middle of May 2022 was the reason for this cruise plus it seemed good value as it was a re positioning journey finally ending in Alaska. We had a good ball cabin kept immaculate by our excellent steward and took dinner at 8.30 (a bit late for us).All meals were excellent as per usual.Vegetables are never cooked enough though making them too inedible for ...

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Queen Elizabeth

We chose this cruise because although we had sailed QM2 several times Transatlantic, we had never been on the QE. The dates fit our schedule—sail the QM2 over to Southampton, a week in England and sail the QE back Southampton to Fort Lauderdale. Our leg was the beginning of the QE’s longer leg, she will be sailing over a month, all the way to Alaska. My observations: Embarkation in Southampton ...

A good cruise haunted by Covid

Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Aurora

Getting away after the pandemic was a priority and for us and Aurora promised a nice no-fly month away to the Caribbean. With 'some reassuring changes' apparently. A pretty standard itinerary calling at Funchal on the way out and Praia Da Vittoria in the Azores on the way home. Testing before boarding was straightforward and we were pleased to see the Peninsular Club lunch was on offer to get the ...

Absolutely disappointed

We had never done transatlantic, wanted to do the Caribbean and thought a ship using sterling would be easier. Travelling with a friend, 1 late 60s, 1 early 70s. We had only done Australia and the Pacific Islands before. We booked just before covid started, but we had booked for this date. We booked a suite to treat ourselves, butler and all. He is wonderful by the way. Dining - Horizon is ...

Hygiene

Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Ventura

User Avatar

Whilst we agree with a lot of the comments made about the Ventura. Some of the guests hygiene leaves a lot to be desired. Ignoring hand sanatisers on many occasions. In the buffet restaurant we saw on many occasions passengers blowing their nose & coughing into the blue serviettes & putting them back on the table. Men walking into the buffet area with no tops on. Filling water bottles from the ...
