Our first cruise with Saga, during which we clocked up our 100th day of cruising experience.
The ship
S of A has been at sea for less than a year and is the most modern ship we have been on. Everything is spick and span and everything works as it should. Best wifi and TV we’ve ever had on a ship. It is comfortable and spacious. However a lot of the furniture has been chosen by designers ...
We decided on this cruise just two months before the sailing as we really needed to get away for a break and warmer weather. The no flying, all inclusive, discounted price and especially Saga's Covid protocols to protect passengers and crew were all factors in this decision.
Pick up and embarkation process faultless. We were picked up on time, taken to the port. Lateral flow tested and PCR ...
Love P&O Cruises. Staff were excellent in covid control onboard the Iona. Only exception were the minority of passengers who rammed themselves into the lifts with no thought for others on social distancing. Disgusting behaviour from just plain selfish thoughtless folk.!!! P&O themselves did everything possible to keep you safe and give everyone onboard a good holiday. Entertainment was ...
We've always cruised on small ships and decided to try a big one for a change. Fortunately only a 14 day cruise, we were glad to get home.
The ship is new and very well appointed if you like sitting in bars or reading books. If we'd been 25 years ago when we had children with us it might have been OK, but we are past that stage now and are used to enrichment programmes, a card room perhaps, ...
We did 2 back to back cruises on Iona starting on Jan 15 2022. First two weeks was Madeira and Canaries. Second two weeks was the Med. I apologise in advance for writing such a long review. However as people are now clammering to get back to cruising, I think it's only fair to give as much of a heads up as possible.
First of all the ship is beautiful. How long it will stay beautiful is anyones ...
We looked forward to this cruise as it marked my retirement and my wife’s birthday, we had had to save for this one and had handed over our hard earned cash with pleasure we loved being cosseted by Cunard’s attentive staff. This would be the 12th or so cruise and our second 28 night cruise with them. So we knew what to expect. Lovely.
We joined the QM2 as scheduled following a Covid test each. ...
Ideal cruise for a winter break, but we were not informed of the much reduced recreational facilities before we boarded. On board costs are eye-wateringly expensive, but staff were friendly and attentive. However, some staff had self modified face masks, which were open at the bottom. Also, the dining room tables were too close and the Theatre seats had little social distancing. Our only ship ...
First few days out of Southampton were quite choppy at sea and a lot of passengers appeared to be staying in their rooms. Ship movement prevented the acrobatic act from performing in the theatre and outside deck areas were closed. Thankfully, conditions improved once the ship had got past the Bay of Biscay and temperatures rose the closer we got to the Canaries.
Meals in the main restaurant ...
Firstly, I cannot fault the ship or the crew who were excellent. However, having just spent short of £8,000 on our first holiday for nearly three years we were rather surprised at the age group, advertised as "holidays for the over 50s" which in reality was more like over 80. Consequently the activities and the food on board the ship focused on this age group. I am 75, my wife 68. I felt like a ...
We have travelled on QE before and QV. Both superb ships. This break was to have some winter Sun to islands we had been to before and liked. The arrival at Southampton docks was a bit disorganised. Cunard said to go into Gate 20 which was not a good idea as it's the Container port and there was only one sign to the screening area and that was much later; we did find it eventually by accident. It's ...
