We have absolutely loved the ship, some may dislike the absence of the mid ship staircase but it did not worry us at all. Very new modern surroundings and luxury furnishings. Excellent food Egg Benedict was always cold (tried 6 times) and once hard boiled Lobster twice and nice Fish and curry very good Entertainment was not at all our taste, which is the shame, only 2 acts were good (comedian and 1 theatre performance). It may be aimed for older people. We felt the stuff sometimes lacked friendliness, especially in the sit down restaurant during the day (some waiters smelled of cigarette smoke) but our select dining was perfect, connected with the stuff and loved every bit of it. We had to ask to be changed to first sitting which seems to be hard to get but it was sorted on a second day Egg Benedict was always cold (tried 6 times) and once hard boiled Lobster twice and second was absolute treat Fish and curry very good A few starters were hit and miss Would love to come again! We chose this cruise as a way to see a new part of the world and to enjoy a much anticipated ship. We had read some negative comments on here prior to booking but having met some of the kind of people who moan about beaches being 'sandy' before, we weren't deterred ;) The food was nothing short of excellent in all venues and the service was faultless. The cabin was an ideal size and the balcony was perfect for sitting out and enjoying the view. The vast majority of staff were welcoming, efficient and friendly. The organised activities on board were wide in range and didn't allow much time to be bored, even on our 5 days at sea. We met some lovely fellow passengers, all of whom were determined to have a nice holiday and to enjoy everything that was on offer. We did notice some rude passengers who were an embarrassment to themselves at times by being rude either to staff or fellow passengers, goodness only knows what makes people aggressive on holiday! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cruise or ship to anyone. Go with the right attitude of enjoying a holiday in a luxury hotel at sea and a chance to explore a new part of the world and you'll be happy with all it has to offer. Read Less

I thought I would focus my review on the features of this lovely new ship I loved the most. Overall the interior of the ship is stunning. The variety of finishes of wood, fabrics, metal and marble used with effective lighting accents plus the wide, spacious passageways are terrific. There are an infinite number of great places to sit in and enjoy. I was seldom conscious that I was sharing the ship with 4000 people. Another highlight was the Lido deck with three very large pools, one forward reserved exclusively for adults. There are plenty of lounges to go around. We took good advantage of the speciality restaurants as well. They cost extra, however. My favorite hands down was the Epicurean. It is elegant, quiet and the service as well as the cuisine on two different menus were outstanding. The other outstanding feature for me was the Retreat which costs extra, but provides a welcome opportunity to be in a more intimate, secluded outdoor environment, away from all the music around the lido deck pool area. Limited food is served at lunch in the Retreat as well. Read Less

Just back from transatlantic and 2 week cruise round the Caribbean on Britannia. Had a great time. The call at Tenerife on the way out was caused by a problem with the port in Madeira - not something P & O could have foreseen. The ship is very elegant, and, yes, the layout is different from the rest of the fleet - but the layout inside was well designed so the size of the ship is not too intimidating. Entertainment was of a high standard and the Dance instructors on both cruises were excellent. Madeleine Bell and the Morecombe and Wise acts in the Limelight Club were excellent. The Cookery Club was great fun and the food in the speciality restaurants was very good. The only criticisms really were lack of maintenance e.g. lift buttons, lighting on Lido deck - should be attended to- especially with the ship being so new. The most common complaint throughout the cruise was that no procedure was in place to manage the 'towel on sunbed' problem, even though there were frequent comments on this in the daily paper. Whilst there was a pianist in the Crows Nest every evening we never saw the piano in the Atrium being played - would have attracted more people there if a pianist was on hand. The positoning of lifts and stairs is different to the rest of the fleet, but once you get to know your way around it is fine. Yes lifts get busy at peak times - again this isn't unique to Britannia. Overall, a great holiday and will defintely be checking out future itineraries planned for Britannia. Read Less
