Review for Columbus to Europe - Western Mediterranean

As we’d thoroughly enjoyed a Baltic cruise just six weeks before embarking on this cruise to N. Africa, the Canary Islands and mainland Iberia. Embarkation was smooth and reasonably quick and we were soon settled in our cabin. Luggage arrived speedily. Cabin was of a good standard with ample storage space and wardrobe. Shower room was small and could really benefit from a bit of updating. ...

I saw this cruise advertised on a web search and as I had never sailed with CMV before I thought I would give it a try. The embarkation process was superb. The port of Tilbury staff should give themselves a pat on the back for a very smooth process. Our cases were outside our cabin by the time we arrived on board at 12.30. Our cabin was a great size and we were upgraded to a cabin with a window ...

Flying from Australia to set sail from Tilbury (London) it was great to have two 'pre-cruise' days built into the itinerary to enable recovery from jet lag as well as exploration of the departure port. Our hotel was situated just beside the Tower of London which meant we could wander over the road to explore that historical site. The VTA organized London sightseeing tours were terrific - a quick ...

This was my first cruise and was very excited about it.The disappointment started on day one.It was chaotic communication. Confusing messages. The Representative at Victoria Cross was efficient and she was being given incorrect data. Said we would be taken to a hotel for lunch because of the 5 hr.delay .Not only were we taken to Tilbury terminal but no water nor food. The operations manager didn't ...

We chose this cruise because it was reasonable in price, and we wanted a smaller, more intimate ship. We were not disappointed. It was all great fun. OK, so Azores is not a glitzy ship - there are limited things to do, and it was a bit tired looking. But the crew were wonderful, helpful and looked after us very well. If you want a smallish ship then try this one. And the price was very ...

Briefly: four adults and a twenty month baby, the holiday of a lifetime, cost >£8,000. Booked through Thomson Travel. Assured that ship's problems highlighted on BBC Watchdog programme, had all been resolved. First sight at Kingston was a disappointment. Ship was advertised as Thomson's latest cruise ship did not mean NEW. We discovered later that the ship was 25 years old. It looked worn and ...

Our main gripe on our second time on this wonderful ship is the dining room experience. It has gone from the wow factor to quite honestly second rate canteen style fayre. The menus were unimaginative and boring the vegetables were also boring and unimaginative (unlike last Year.. The windjammer offered us better food, though i was let down with 1 or 2 incompetent chefs who didn't ...

Youy get What You Pay For!

Review for Marco Polo to Europe - Western Mediterranean

User Avatar

"You get what you pay for, don't you?" My parents never flew in a commercial aircraft on a scheduled flight. Their sole experience of taking to the skies was a twenty- minute spin around Worthing Pier (in a biplane) sometime after World War 2. I myself have never witnessed a premier division football match, and only within the last year or two have I dipped my toe into cruising. Leaving things ...
