Although this was our 40th cruise, it was the first on Marco Polo and the smallest ship we have been on in 25 years of cruising and at 2 nights, the shortest. This is also my first review of a cruise ship. Having booked the cruise recently I looked up the reviews just before going and was quite alarmed by the number of negative reviews. I was not therefore expecting much. However, having enjoyed ...
Cheapest way to get to Greenland to see the south and west of the island. I have not been on a cruise before. I was on the Baltic deck, two away from the tender boat exit which was ideal. The cabin was spacious and clean and light and we could see out of the portholes and watch passing icebergs by kneeling on the beds. All staff were very good. The food was fine though not excellent. Managed just ...
We disembarked the Silver Wind in early June and generally had a very good cruise.
The main attraction, certainly so far as my OH was concerned, was the sail in and out under Tower Bridge (note to destination lecturer - not "The" Tower Bridge, just Tower Bridge).
We had a quick and easy embarkation and our suite, a classic veranda, was fine and looked in good order. We did find an item on a ...
A thoroughly enjoyable cruise which we did back to back with a cruise of the Baltic in a different cabin (inside cabin 409 at the front of the ship which often had diesel fumes in the cabin). We moved to cabin 327 for this phase of our back to back cruise and we were much happier enjoying this midship cabin which had a high porthole and the difference some natural light makes is amazing. The cabin ...
We booked this because we were going to the U K and decided to try this cruise because it was going through the Kiel Canal.. We had a total of 4 sea days. and our port stops were. Wismar . Germany. A very quiet port lovely architecture but very walkable. Next Port was Ronne a Danish island. Again very very quiet and apsrt from the churches not much to see.Would not visit this port again. ...
Enjoyed the whole Silversea experience. But they MUST attend to the internet issue. Cabin was excellent so was service. Menu not changed very often which was disappointing. Ship had unexplained juddering at speeds above about 15 knots. No relationship with sea conditions. Maybe caused by the recent lengthening. Was a bit unpleasant at times. Crew were almost all very obliging and cheerful. I ...
We choose this cruise to see a bit of Canada. Had done a couple of cruises about 20 years ago and not sure about 31 days. No need to worry as the time aboard ship there was plenty to do - games, quizzes and talks or craft sessions. Or even choir, line dancing and acting.
Embarkation was fine and the cases that we had sent ahead by TEFRA were waiting at our cabin door.
We chose late sitting ...
After a series of Alaska cruises on the Silver Shadow this year my wife and I decided to try something different: a 14 day cruise around the British Isles. We were attracted by the ports (including Belfast, where I grew up; and Dublin, where we met and got married). For an added bonus the cruise started and ended at Tower Bridge in London (where the Silver Wind tied up alongside HMS ...
We chose the cruise for the total Norwegian itinerary and were not disappointed particularly as the weather was perfect throughout.
The facilities on board were excellent but the management of the Pool deck re opening time for a pre breakfast swim were appalling with complaints from many clients being ignored by senior officers.
Food was variable dependent on restaurant visited.MDR was the ...
We have recently disembarked from the Crystal Serenity where we enjoyed 14 nights going around the UK and also stopping in Amsterdam and in Zebbrugge before returning to our point of embarkation which also served as the port of disembarkation, namely Dover on the Irish Soliloquy cruise. We thought it would be helpful to post this review. We recognize in so doing that some of our comments will be ...
