Executive Summary. (If you are not an executive, skip this paragraph.) The itinerary was "In Search of the Northern Lights." We saw the Lights four times over three nights, so in a sense this was a successful cruise. However, although Viking does many things well, they failed in one very important component - they did not meet the expectations of my taste buds! The menus were good, but the ...
Embarkation:
Apparently there was an issue with the gangway preventing the passengers departing from the previous cruise so we were kept waiting until gone 12 o'clock before anyone could board.
Quite efficient otherwise. They collected our luggage from the waiting area rather than outside due to the issues from the last cruise.
Cabins:
We had 2 cabins. I had a Superior ocean view. ...
Sailing to Northern lights: this 25 year old lady scrubbed up well, better than the old lady writing the review.
The ship had 1,090 guests on board and in places you noticed, slow service in some of the public areas and the buffet, "Borough Market", was best summed up by some other passengers as "Cattle Market". It was woeful, traffic flow down narrow passage ways a complete struggle and simply ...
This was our first Viking Cruise but we have been on may others. We heard Viking was very good and a good value, we would now agree. Our goal was to see the Northern Lights, I know they don't control that but even if we hadn't seen them ( which we did 5 nights) we would of been very happy witht the cruise. The ship was spotless and beautiful, the crew was friendly beyond belief. Everyone had a ...
Oh, how we wanted to love our first Viking cruise! All the advertising and all our friends and family said Viking’s the best, with all-balcony staterooms, a truly all-inclusive program, no one under 18 and lectures instead of casinos.
And we fully understand that weather happens, and the storm that trapped the Viking Venus in Tromsø, Norway, definitely was beyond Viking’s control. And Viking ...
We loved this voyage! The trip is for someone who is adventurous and doesn't mind being cold, wet, and blown around. Be prepared for 3 hours max daylight each day. The ship rocked substantially but I found it was manageable with a seasick pill every now and then and wrist bands. I didn't know of anyone who got sick. If anything the banging and creaking wall noises during the rough seas was the ...
We have just returned from a four day break on Ambition and had a wonderful time.
The staff at Ambassador head office advised us that our trip would be on the Ambition due to our originally booked ship, Ambiance, having maintenance difficulties. However our booking was changed to the Ambition without too many problems for us.
Ambition is definitely a smaller ship than Ambiance but she is ...
I usually choose a short Christmas Markets cruise in December and I wanted to see what this company was like with the view to a longer cruise. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed. The ship itself has been furnished to a high standard and the cabin was fine. However, I walk with a stick and having to join a scrum for breakfast at the buffet was taxing. I have never been on a ship where even ...
The ship has been refitted to a high standard and our junior suite and the public areas were spacious and modern.
The staff were first class - hard working and welcoming.
The self service Borough market has plenty of seating and good space around the various food counters. There is a good selection of food.
We were allocated a table in the Holyrood restaurant and, although we chose the ...
Awful experience due to intransigence of management and failure to respond to current customer expectations.
