The Star: An older ship heading for S America

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Star

About the Reviewer: I’m a middle-aged American male who traveled solo on this, my 60th voyage. Over half of my sailings have been with NCL, however, I have sailed on other cruise lines including Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, MSC and Carnival. This cruise was my first cruise as a Diamond Latitudes member with NCL. My reviews are written in chronological order of events as they took place on the ship. ...

An Average, Enjoyable Transatlantic Cruise

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Jade

We chose this cruise as we wanted to experience a transatlantic crossing. This itinerary suited us as Portugal is a country we had not been to, and we wanted to visit New York again. We are Platinum Latitude members and after sailing on a few other cruise lines we prefer the NCL Freestyle experience and Speciality Dining options. We do not like the bigger ships and mainly choose a cruise based ...

Itinerary made it worth going

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Celebrity Infinity

User Avatar

Itinerary made it worth going. Have been on Infinity in the past, ( and other Celebrity ship's ) and we noted a drastic drop in menu standard at main dining room. The confirmed late dining had gone missing in the reservation, and we had to negotiate a bit to get a set table. Waiter service was inadequate. Each night we waited a very long time for everything. Shortage of staff or they are not ...

Not Celebrity as we knew it!

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Celebrity Infinity

Having been on the Solstice class ships on four different cruises, nothing prepared us for this older kind of ship at full capacity! Okay, the ship is old, we expected that but the public places are well kept up and the food is fine too. However, the great aspects of a Celebrity cruise are missing, and the constant negatives of Celebrity are worse here than on the solstice class ships. I mention: ...

Disappointing aspects of our cruise on NCL Getaway

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Norwegian Getaway

When we were looking for a cruise to use our two $250 soon to expire future cruise credits, we chose the Getaway September 6th cruise that would be sailing out of Lisbon, which is one of our favorite cities to visit in Europe. Unfortunately, the cruise began with a terrible boarding process for nearly every passenger on the ship except for those who had booked cabins in the "Haven," who were ...

Getaway Review

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Norwegian Getaway

Here are the good and bad about this particular trip via Norwegian Getaway. Boarding was a disaster. No consideration for your selected boarding time. Spent well over 2 hours in line outside to get on ship. Room was a balcony and was good except for outlets. There were no USB outlets and two plugs. Hair dryer is close to balcony and not in bathroom. Small regfrigerator filled with water ...

Never Use NCL Again

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Norwegian Getaway

We booked this cruise 1 1/2 years ago when it was supposed to be the new ship, Viva. It wasn't finished due to supply chain issues and the Getaway went in it's place. There were well over 4K people on this ship AND 1500 children. Way too many people. I thought the food at Savor, Tropicana, and Taste were really good. We would upgrade and get the Cagney Steak for $15 upcharge. There were so many ...

Garden cafe areas very crowded. Quality of food is poor in specialty restaurants

Itinerary was excellent. Lisbon to Miami 19 days. Excellent ports of call full of history and geography and culture. All of the staff on board SUN is wonderful. Assistant Cruise Director Carlisa is very friendly and welcoming. During the renovations NCL added extra specialty restaurants which are not up to NCL standard. Moderno restaurant has very poor table service. Salad selection is ...

Nice itinerary, shame about the ship

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Norwegian Sun

Generally good itinerary, with particular highlights being Madeira, Lanzarote, Malaga and Cadiz. Could do with longer at Cadiz, and prepare yourself for choppy weather on the 1st sea day. However, what brings the score down is the ship itself. The Sun is one of the smaller vessels, and often you have to navigate through other public area to get to your destination, the spa is particularly ...

The little things that make for a great cruise were mising

Review for a Canary Islands Cruise on Norwegian Sun

Sailed on the ncl sun from lisbon to the canary islands and while the cruise was ok it was far from great. time after time we saw little things that showed a lack of attention to detail. there were many examples. the cabin stewards filled the halls with cleaning equipment early each morning and it stayed there unused until late in the day. there were no washcloths. there was no towel animal! ...
