We have sailed twice before with SS and enjoyed it. This was prior to its buy out.
Joining the ship at Lisbon after queuing for 3 hours in passport control , we eventually found a SS rep who put us on a coach to travel to the port.
Stood for a long time in the sun in a queue that was not moving. No communication by staff there.
Once we started to move (1 hour later) the check in and ...
We wish we could share positive feedback. As we have been on other cruise lines over the years, our general comparative experience with Silversea was not the best. Additionally, we had other issues that made our cabin experience uncomfortable.
The first few days, a foul smell (sewage) came from the bathroom that they had difficulty containing. When potent cleaning agents were used, it ...
Everything from start to finish was a wonderful experience. This 12 day cruise from Lisbon to Greenwich terrific.
The ship was small and Intimate just over 600 passengers and elegantly decorated. Just the perfect size so that we felt pampered. The ship size allowed it to cruise down the Gironde right into Bordeaux and down the Thames into Greenwich.
The Classic Veranda Suite was large and ...
After 3 consecutive cruises on Regent, I was recommended Silversea because it was good and very smoking friendly. It really is very smoking friendly.
The booking was a breeze with Mr Andrew Ironstone making my life easy. Best ever.
The ship is OK, I especially like the architecture having all the cabins in the front and venues in the back of the ship. It is very smart and makes the cabins ...
We have become rather unhappy with Crystal Cruises for a variety of reasons so we have been searching for their replacement. SilverSea's greatest advantage over Crystal would be in the size of their all-suite accommodations. We found our suite to be impeccably clean, well maintained, stylish, and equipped with a wonderfully cheerful and helpful butler.
The weakest element in a comparison ...
Chose this cruise because of the ports and the emphasis on Champagne . Every thing connected with that part of the trip was excellent. didn't like the fact of sooo many tender dockings and did not like where the shipswere docked when we did go to a port. They were far from the destinations. There were shuttle buses to take us to towns and that was great if you didn't go on ships tours. Oyster ...
The Silver Spirit is a beautiful ship with many places, both inside and out, to spend time.
The itinerary was as beautiful a one as I could have imagined. Each destination was interesting and welcoming, and Dr. Sherri Hut's talks were wonderful preparations for sightseeing. The food was excellent for the most part, and our butler, Maurice, couldnot have done enough to make us comfortable. I ...
Friends had traveled with Silversea and we knew of its good reputation. What attracted us, though, was a wonderful Lisbon-Rouen itinerary. We do not plan to return to Silversea due to spotty service. Examples: A change in Lisbon port was not communicated to passengers, who had to "dash" by taxi from the north port to the south port, without a prompt written apology or the gesture of a shipboard ...
We chose the cruise for its itinerary. Unfortunately, the "Bordeaux" stop was at an abandoned container dock 100 km from Bordeaux, so not having purchased a costly all-day shore excursion, we didn't see Bordeaux, so that was disappointing.
The rest of the itinerary was as stated, and we enjoyed the ports immensely. Eleven days without a sea day made for a very busy cruise.
Service was ...
We chose this cruise because it had an excellent itinerary of small ports along the coasts of Portugal, Spain, and France. Most other cruise lines only make one or two stops along these coasts. Also we had had an excellent experience with Silversea in Alaska so we expected the same this time. Not so.
Our primary problem was being given an inexperienced butler which we didn't understand until ...
