Zenith is an old boat, built in 1992 so with that in mind it was never going to be one of the newer luxury liners. The accommodation was adequate without being luxurious. With an older boat such as Zenith there are always creeks and noises as the boat moves which can be disturbing for sleep if you are a light sleeper. On the question of the movement of the boat we both find that there was quite a lot of “swell” movement which would say to us as laypeople the stabilisers were broken or were not up to scratch. Secondly, the cruise line Pullmantur is mostly catering for a Spanish clientele and again with that in mind be careful about booking with them as of course most of the programs on board such as shows and all communications are mainly in Spanish. We had taken out a “Black Waves“ package which is the top package on board which gives you various advantages such as free Wi-Fi in a special part of the boat!, private sun deck, waiter service at own assigned restaurant table and free drinks from a drinks list throughout the cruise. No personnel could explain to me why the free Wi-Fi was not available in our cabin and throughout the boat which would be normal for that type of service on other ships. So when you want to use the Wi-Fi you had to visit an assigned bar! The downsides of the ship are more than made up by the staff on board who do a valiant job in difficult circumstances. We would single out particularly the “Waves Club” staff Juan and Jose and the restaurant staff Rey and I Mahdi and I would suggest that one tour which is worth doing if you are fit enough for it is one of the on shore electric cycle tours with Miguel and Nico. Overall, my recommendation would be there are other better international operators and offerings for the Canary Islands, Madeira, Agadir route. These would probably offer better value in a newer ship such as TUI Aida. Star rating 2.5 out of 5! Read Less

Some lovely restaurants attended by excellent waiting staff. Three of the six restaurants have an additional charge applied. Most of the food was very good with only one or two disappointing meals experienced during our week long stay. The bars look very 70's but were also well attended. The cabins are a bit bland whilst the communal parts of the ship appear very dated. My wife and I enjoyed our stay but were considerably younger than the average age on ship (54). One point of note; the ships entertainment is absolutely terrible with every cliched game done so badly it was painful! There is a small nightclub on the top floor which plays nothing but 60s and 70s music. The 'DJ' was quite rude to anyone who requested any other music! Apparently the other staff just accept how rude she is. The excursions were very expensive but were well organised. The fitness suite was a bit tired but was well used. There is also a Spa which whilst approximately twice high street prices, was very good. Read Less

Having experienced a lovely holiday on the Majesty in 2015, we decided to add a weeks cruise onto a hotel holiday for the first week in January. Sadly standards have slipped in all areas of the ship and it was altogether a very disappointing experience. eg, holes in pillowcases and bedding, discoloured bathroom towels, cold unappetising food, distinct lack of interest from some of the crew, cold cabins and public areas The Thomson entertainment team produced a good show most evenings - however, we had seen the shows before in 2015! As an earlier reviewer has mentioned it was more like a floating holiday camp and every morning when the cruise direct Taylor McCullogh started his briefing I expected Hi de Hi!!! I would compare it to a working mens club environment. There was no heating/airconditioning for the outside cabins on the 8th floor and the cabins were very cold at night. We followed several other cruise ships and each time the Majesty was berthed in the dock furtherest distance from the shore - obviously the cheapest berth. The Majesty is due to be retired from the Thomson fleet in the autumn - it should be retired now before the reputation of Thomson cruising is tarnished further. Read Less

This was our first cruise and we wanted warm climate, good atmosphere, friendly travellers and a relaxing environment. After researching various cruise destinations, packages and value for money, Thomson Cruises came out top in all fields. We then read all the feedback from other traveller's only to discover that many were return voyager's who had done several cruises on various ships and returned to the Dream for it's friendliness, professionalism, helpfulness of staff and great atmosphere. All these factors helped to convince us to do this cruise. It was the best money we ever spent on a holiday and I can't believe we never did a cruise before. Embarkation was quick and efficient. Within 6 minutes we were processed and heading to our cabin. The cabin was clean and fairly spacious, I was half expecting it to be cramped so I was pleasantly surprised. There was an information pack in our cabin with the name of who was allocated to look after our cabin during our cruise, activities for the day and the name of our next port of call. Each day you had a news letter with all the timings for activities, arrival time in port, departure time and port excursions available at your destinations. The Thomson Dream is a decent sized ship and well maintained, the crew and staff are very courteous, helpful and always cheerful. The quality of the food was excellent. The entertainment is of a professional standard and varied.. During the days at sea you are never short of activities that the staff organise, or you can just opt to laze by the pools or on the sun deck's. You can pre-book your excursion's before leaving the UK to join your cruise if you so wish, or choose to book once on board, the choice is entirely yours. Within a week of our return, we had booked our 2016 cruise on the Thomson Dream again. Read Less

It was my first time cruising with family, son, daughter-in-law, granddaughter 16 and grandson 10. Having cruises previously with different cruise lines, it was my first time with MSC and they did not disappoint. From the moment the music started in Bar Duomo each night, I was danced off my feet by the wonderful entertainment team. Can't wait to get back on board!!! The ship was beautifully decorated for Christmas with Festive music playing in the background. The staff without exception, were wonderful and friendly. I didn't see a sad or lonely face at any time. Embarkation was very smooth and we were on board within 10 minutes. Bags were delivered within the hour. My cabin was a balcony cabin which was really adequate for only 1 person, and the balcony was on the small size. There was plenty of storage space and my bag slipped under the bed quite easily. The bathroom was small but everything worked and I had plenty of hot water at all hours, with good pressure in the shower. I was glad to see that I had a shower enclosure instead of the dreaded curtain! The bed was just as comfortable as my own, with pristine white linen and the whole place was clinically clean. There were plenty of sun beds on the upper decks and in the adult areas. The only fault that I found was in the Marco Polo dining room. The food let the ship down! It was beautifully presented by wonderful waiters, but left a lot to be desired. However, in the buffet there was plenty variety and I was never hungry. I purchased the drinks package and gave that a good rattling!!! However, I did come off the ship 3lbs lighter. My teenage granddaughter joined the teens club and made some nice friends, with whom she had a blast, and the grandson was like a little gentleman, strolling around, using his card!!! At night the entertainment was varied and good, with a few different little bands playing in different bars and venues. We didn't take any of the shore excursions as we had holidayed on each of the islands, but did get off in Funchal which was magical, and went to Church on Christmas day in La Palma. Disembarkation was in turmoil, I got separated from the others, with the result that they were waiting on the pier for over an hour, while I hunted throughout the ship for them. Eventually a phone call or two by one of those lovely young Italian gentlemen and all was sorted!! All in all, it was a fabulous cruise and I can't wait to get on board again! A Beautiful ship with a wonderful crews. Thank you all. Read Less

Booked 2 week holiday from 19th Dec to 2nd Jan. One week on Thomson Majesty and one week at Arona Gran on Teneriffe. I will say at this stage the Arona Gran week was outstanding as always. New years evening was absolutely fabulous, fireworks display, the food every thing about the night. However the ship was a different story. Before writing this review I have read a few other reviews written about the same period on the Thomson Majesty. If you read them they overall cover everything I found bad about the ship, including the soot from the funnel. Food lukewarm and mid week buffet served by staff because of the Norovirus. Watched staff rubbing down rails tables etc with same cloth thereby transferring virus. Staff appeared untrained, had to stop one at buffet trying to put my dinner onto a small plate which he had put a bun on for me. We paid in excess of £4000 for this trip and reckon this was about two thousand pounds too much in retrospect. We spoke to some people who had only paid around three hundred pounds for one week on board and two to three days at hotel. We had a problem with air conditioning in room and all staff did was to switch it off, this after five times of complaining, unbelievable. The jacussi onboard had dirty brown water in it, swimming pool freezing. When we attended the emergency muster drill at station 14 the attitude of the two staff there frivolous and completely unprofessional. Spent time laughing and joking, heaven help us if there had been an emergency real time. Read Less

Pre-booking cabins 16 months ahead for a 50th anniversary for 4 cabins should be easy to keep. Not on this one. Not only was cabin type changed so was location, to the most forward cabins on board. These we would NEVER have agreed to. No change could be made and we all suffered the horrendous noise and vibrations for a week. For an ALL-INCLUSIVE deal the service for my wife and I confinded to our cabin for 2 days; while her system settled from the constant vibrations; was credited to Novovirus, by the junior medical visitor some 7 hours after first reporting in. The food was poor, the entertainment in cabin was the loop of Thomson Cruise Holidays, or the Smurfs: on an adult only cruise. No news on the television for three days, no news-papers to be had, we felt like prisoners. The only resting point the beds, propped up but shaken to bits by the constant vibration and jolting. The effect of this lasted a full week ashore as we still could not get our balance restored. The cabin maid was good, but limited to what she could do, and as for the Welfare Team due to visit and help us, not a sight or sound. Apart from the name of the ship, the big Celebration on this cruise was when we got home. Read Less

we travelled with my son and his new wife for their first cruise.the embarkation queue was lengthy but moved quite fast and within 30 mins we had boarded.we were impressed with the centrum a rea and after signing up for the drinks package we had our first of many cocktails consumed over the 5 days. i had arranged for the wedding celebration decoration package as a surprise laa we were excited to accompany our son and wife to their stateroom. imagine our disappointment to discover a birthday decoration in their room. i was very disappointed and went to guest services to complain. the very nice lady apologised and offered to refund our money and as a gesture sent some chocolate covered strawberries. i realize that mistakes happen and nothing can be done to rectify it but it was a major disappointment. however,it did not spoil our trip.we had a great time.i found the food in the main buffet to be good,if a little cool at times.we much preferred the garden cafe.the salads were exceptional and the sandwiches and paninnis very good.i used room service for breakfast to avoid the throngs. best service by a mile was the dining room. we used my time dining and were lucky to get the same table and waiters, mauritio and vicky.they made our dining a wonderful experience.they were attentive, great fun and went the extra mile for us.they arranged a special meal for my son who is allergic onions and mauritio made wonderful balloon animals. the shows were good and the the piano bar great. while on a trip to split a thunderstorm broke out and everyone dashed to the harbour to get a tender back to the ship. within seconds torrential rain and a strong wind drenched everyone.the tenders bobbed and rocked and it took approx 20 mins to get on board. it felt a little scary but on our tender was a group of women from dublin who sang and joked and calmed nerves and made a bad experience fun. disembarkation was straightforward.we had an early flight and requested express disembarkation.we left the boat at 7:30 and found our car from venice shuttle waiting to whisk us to the airport.if you need transfers at venice use venice shuttle.they are reliable courteous and prompt. we had a great time on the grandeur of the seas and converted my son and his wife to the cruising experience Read Less

As first time cruisers we went with some friends who had been on Thomson Dream last year and recommended the ship to us, so we joined them this year. We were unsure about the whole cruise experience but thoroughly enjoyed the week, the staff were excellent! all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. There was more food available than you could shake a stick at we found the Orion restaurant the best option for evening meals a great menu selection and amazing team of staff in there. Barcelona and Calvi were the highlights for us the boat docked only a few minutes walk from Barcelona's Las Ramblas couldn't have been better.   Calvi, Corsica was beautiful, small cobbled streets, local shops and you can climb up to the Citadel for panoramic views over the harbour and town. Great evening shows on board, always something to do, our Cabin was spacious and comfortable although some control over the air conditioning would have been nice and be warned that forward cabins (certainly on deck 5) suffer from noise while the ships bow thrusters are running which at 6-7 am might not suit everyone but these are minor details, all in we had a great week on Dream and would definitely go again. We have just come back from a 'Thomson Dream Cruise' 25 June to 2nd July, which we all thought was excellent value for money, it met all our expectations, food, drink, entertainment was first class. Inside Cabin was spacious and kept very clean by the very nice cabin maid (Mary). Evenings we dined waiter service in the Orion restaurant which was excellent, all the Waiters were very friendly and the food was very varied. Breakfast and Lunch were also first class in any of the other restaurants. We did a trip to Florence and also Pisa which was very well organised, but along day but would not have missed going, Florence very interesting but very busy. We liked Pisa very much would recommend a visit. We also went ashore at most places but thought Calvi (Corsica) very pretty, we had a change of Itinary and went to Toulon instead of Sete, we liked very much (take a trip round by the little train at the port 6 euro's each well worth it). Barcelona we did the 'hopper trip' which was excellent around the City which we would recommend. Entertainment in Broadway excellent (first class) Abba, Queen, Africa, Elton John, etc., also 'Take That' in Medusa Lounge. Most enjoyable holiday would certainly go again. Read Less
