Great experience

Review for Koningsdam to Hawaii

I Chose this cruise because I wanted to go to Hawaii via California. My first on a Holland ship. Generally I go on Carnival because it is more geared to my budget. What is my favorite ship was a question I got asked a lot. My favorite is the one I am on at the time. They all have good times, entertainment, food and a place to sleep. Great vacation. This was a beautiful ship. The ...

Good cruise, nice ship, OK food

We had not been on a Holland cruise in nearly 16 years, so that is our point of comparison, although we've done 10 other cruises on other lines since then. The ship was very nice and rarely felt crowded. Entertainment was very good and I really enjoyed the live bands and music. The education programs were also mostly interesting. The main theater with the LED screens made for very interesting ...

First time on Holland after many cruises on Carnival, RCL and NCL. CONS: They definitely have an issue with staffing, especially in regards to buffett and main dining rooms. Buffett, they let you choose some items yourself but not others, which leads to big lines. Main dining room you get a glass of wine immediately but any mixed drink, you have to wait 1/2 an hour. Some staff is not as ...

Too many passengers &/or too few experienced crew

Review for Koningsdam to Pacific Coastal

After having itineraries to Istanbul changed two years in a row, we had ‘some’ cruise credit expiring. The pacific coast cruise seemed like a remedy & we’ve never been on the Koningsdam. Perhaps the larger ship just isn’t for us. The crew seemed to be training while this ship sailed which resulted in inefficiency. Particularly popular food items frequently became unavailable. Long lines & ...

Finally got my round Hawaii cruise after the Rona

I had this cruise set up for September 2020 of course some thing happened that stopped all of us from cruising. With the post Rona hitches in mind the cruise was excellent. See lots of complaining about service. Unfortunately understanding and patience seem to be in short supply. The HAL crew you could see were depleted from pre Rona cruising but the effort expended was above and beyond for ...

This was my second cruise on Holland America. The others have been on Princess. The Koningsdam is an attractive ship with a full promenade deck. Unlike many ships that outdo themselves with gaudiness, Koningsdam's decor is understated and easy to live with. I was on the ship for two weeks, the first week in an interior cabin, and the second week in a verandah cabin. When I cruise, I spend as ...

The ship was beautiful. Embarkation was the easiest we have ever experienced. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Ship was ultra clean.the food was the best we have ever experienced on any of the cruise lines. Music was top notch especially the band at BB Kings and the two performers in the piano bar. I felt safe during these pandemic times. The ports were Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto ...

Frustrating communication and app issues, but good crew and entertainment

This was our first time on Holland America, though we've been on their sister line Princess multiple times. We'd heard that HA's food and entertainment were comparable quality, and the disembarkation port was convenient to us, so we decided to give HA a shot. Important note: we are in our early thirties and most of HA's guests are 60 and up. We were clearly the youngest couple on the ship (though ...

We are cruisers and were anxious to get back to the seas so we booked the first two itineraries being offered on the Koningsdam in October out of San Diego. The first week was the California coast and the second week was Mexico. This was our third cruise on the Koningsdam and our 10th and 11th HAL cruise. It was nice to know that all passengers had to be fully vaccinated and present a negative ...

At the start of this year, I left for The United States of America, to board the Koningsdam in Fort Lauderdale. Florida. I was excited! It was the first holiday without my parents present, and I was going far, far away. When I boarded the ship, I was flabbergasted. It was HUGE. And beautiful. In a couple of minutes I felt a sensation that I never ever sensed before. I felt like: this is where I ...
