Selected this cruise to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary so special occasion = the Yacht Club experience. I'm so glad I chose the YC as the rest of the ship was just way too big for me. One of the reasons I paid so much for YC was priority embarkation and disembarkation. Unfortunately there was no priority embarkation at Kiel, despite what I'd been told beforehand and it really was organised chaos. Worst part was disembarkation at NY Manhattan terminal when YC staff were told to bring a group of us near the front of the line and then leave us. Getting verbally abused by other -albeit frustrated - passengers as we tried to get off was bad enough; I couldn't believe it when they started to physically push us out of the way and security just ignored it. I still had the bruises on the flight home !! YC was a lovely sanctuary because the ship is HUGE....always something going on. Lots of bars, places to eat and lots to do - night and day. I was disappointed by the food in the YC restaurant with overcooked meats, dishes missing items, etc. Best meal I had was in Butchers Cut - well worth the extra as the steak was delicious. Make sure you go hungry as there's lots included in the price. Service in YC was incredible; the staff there were amazing. Thought it was a bit hit & miss in the rest of the ship though. Despite it being a TA crossing, we had ample port visits either side. Iceland was amazing and somewhere I'm looking forward to visiting again. Sailing into NYC was pretty cool too and coming back to the ship after a day and night out was great because you really couldn't miss the MSC Meraviglia once you got close to the Manhattan waterline. We didn't go to the shows - the only one we booked (Cirque du Soleil) was cancelled quite a few times, we were told it was due to the rough sailing so that's understandable I guess. Would I sail on her again? Probably not - she's lovely and clean but just too big for me. Read Less

We made the Santos / Kiel crossing, and Kiel / Saint Petersburg / Kiel crossing for 28 days on the Costa Preziosa. I have reported problems with cockroaches, hair in the food, the smell of sewage in the pool that was in the stern of the ship, problems and stress in the excursions, where people stayed inside the bus more than 4 hours without being able to go to the bathroom, staff of the stressed animation and shouting at the passengers at the landing in Kiel, dirt on the buffet, poorly laundered cutlery, dirty cloth napkins and counter tops of dirty food and dirty tables, and when cleaned they were poorly cleaned as well as refreshments at night like sticky pasta of the buffet that of so reheated did not detach from the spatula, besides the terrible service staff at the reception where I got in line several times to solve problem with improper collection, with service fees that were already included in the "experience" voucher, just as we tried to solve the problem of my wife's loyalty card that generated two loyalty numbers on these two cruises, we tried to solve with the Tour Marina who was stupid, arrogant and nothing solved. And if all that was not enough, on the date of landing, my new polycarbonate case was broken, where she took part of it and one of the wheels, as well as several passengers with the same problem, where a lady from Germany broke the suitcase in the middle, and a group of Brazilian ladies who broke the 4 wheels. We waited for hours for the ship's officer to come down and say that nothing could be done at that moment. I have only to regret the terrible experience. Read Less

We booked a Norway cruise a year prior on Norwegian and they canceled our cruise three months later! We had used points for the flights and booked a longer vacation around this cruise so we had to scramble. Thankfully, the MSC Preziosa was doing a nearly identical cruise. A quick look showed limited restaurants and an overall heavy lean towards Italian preferences which was understandable. Thankfully, there was one cabin left in the Yacht Club category which provided us with the accommodations we would have received on Norwegian (and then some), so we booked it. Yacht Club makes everything less stressful and luxurious. During embarkation, there is easy boarding where you are guided everywhere and chill with champagne and snacks in your own private little space at the port and then in the concierge lounge on-board. The cabin we had was unusually large for the category and as with everyone in Yacht Club, we had a balcony. Unlike other cruise lines, the Yacht Club is a significant upgrade as compared with a suite on the three other cruiselines we have sailed on. At least on the Preziosa, Yacht Club cabins, deck area with pools & hot-tubs, bars and concierge lounge occupy a private (card access) area at the front of the ship. A private high-end restaurant is located in the rear of the ship with a nice view. Yacht Club space is huge compared to the number of cabins. There were 10 times as many lounge chairs as needed so you were never crowded - ever! Nobody putting their towel down to save a spot here and there were great views with large window screens to keep out the wind. Service was readily available in all the Yacht Club spaces where-as the rest of the ship, it looked like a lot of people trying to fend for themselves in very crowded conditions. Le Palmeraie, the main Yacht Club restaurant was great. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and we took all of our on-board meals there. The menu varied daily with a list of tasty dishes. You could get a table whenever you wanted and we had many lovely chats with Victor, the ship sommelier. Victor was our unofficial personal guide during our cruise and made sure we didn't miss out on the important things like waking up at 4:30AM to see the ship quietly cruising through the fjords in the early morning light of Summer. This was something almost none of the other passengers got to see. Being in Yacht Club means you have a balcony, so sipping coffee and taking pictures for a couple hours in your pjs is a great way to wake up. Thanks Victor for making our cruise awesome! Speaking of staff, I lost a bag and boarded the ship with little more than I was wearing on the flight from the US. We did some quick shopping on board, but the selection was very limited and they didn't have any dress clothes available for sail - which would be a real bummer formal nights. The concierge, Bahija Sabyr, did a wonderful job filling in these gaps. She found me socks and underwear (which wasn't available for sail on-board) and provide free daily laundry service. Our first port was Copenhagen and the British Airways website showed our bag en-route to the ship, so we enjoyed the port and returned to the ship 10 minutes before its departure. Sadly, there was no bag and we had a sea day and tiny ports in Norway the next few nights. Arrrggghhh! After listening to us vent about the situation for some time, Bahija upped her game and tried to alleviate my lack of clothes with jackets and shirts she pulled from lost-and-found. She even found me a suit! It was large, but I was able to do a bit of hemming for the pants and made it work. It was really sweet and made a big difference to my comfort on the cruise. Thank you, Bahija! We eventually made it to Bergen and did some clothes shopping for the last few nights, but thankfully the bag eventually showed up and we returned everything we borrowed along with some items that you can't find on-board for the next person in the same situation. Disembarkation was the most relaxing I've ever had. We spent the morning lounging on the yacht club pool deck with drinks and new friends while my daughter enjoyed the pool. When it was time to go, we had our butler, Juan Carlos (who was also a great help on our trip) walk off us the ship to the bus back to the airport. All-in-all we had a great cruise thanks to the crew and luxuries provided by the Yacht Club facilities. We spent the entirety of the cruise observing the difference between crowded public spaces and the luxurious quiet spaces that the Yacht Club provided. We would be happy to sail MSC again, but only with those accommodations. Read Less

Sail Date: 08 September 2017 Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean Embarkation: Kiel Just returned from a cruise, the Costa Pacifica. We chose this cruise for the itinerary and we were not disappointed. We enjoyed every port of call, stunning scenery combined with history and beautiful buildings. The Costa Pacifica is a lovely ship with lots to offer My husband and I are cruising enthusiasts. this was my first cruise. Being both retired we have chosen cruises to have the opportunity to visit different country but most of all to discover all the entertainment on board and to meet such wonderful and charming people on board. My husband is already a Costa Club member , the last time it was on Costa Victoria. The staff was as usual fantastic and really did all what they could to keep up the hospitality of Costa. It was an excellent and very amusing experience. We dined in the New York restaurant and the food was excellent as was the waiter service. We had a fantastic wine waiter called Boaquina Santos II who was excellent at his job. The food was really good and the service was amazing. The show in the evening was good. We have been so lucky to meet people such as Beautiful Cynthia Bulka, very good and warm bar maid services with the smiling and charming Lalremruati (Remy) (Cocktail Waitress), the very beautiful friendly blonde from Portugal, Zaenal Mustopa F& B server. These persons have really touched our heart with their kindness, great devotion and most of all with the communicating friendly smile, a great thanks to them who have make our day and night a real dream. I wish them all the best in their professional and personal life. Do not change anything, be always the same .You are wonderful persons. We watched all the dance shows in the theatre and the lounge bar, the Afro Arimba dance productions were brilliant. A big thank and applause to the beautiful fantastic singer Julia & the great and talented Saxophonist Roberts for their romantic song. The everyday shows were excellent with different teams and the unforgettable show delivered by the various people (non entertainment team) on the day before our departure was just fabulous, talented and surprising Just can't imagine such good and hidden talents behind the scene. Hospitality Service well managed and very helpful with different foreign languages - Mainly the smiling Rodrigo and the charming Laura Sini. A big kiss from Costa Pacifica Boutique to the beautiful and smiling waiter 407 Michele Pereire, excuse us for not writing well the name. We will not forget our two Francophone Hospitality Service Senior Specialists namely the charming and smiling Lisa Coppola and Julia Fouquet with their unconditional devotion. They were more than helpful A big thank to the very talented photographer Alexandre Bega and his team. We did various good excursions - value for money - A big thanks for the hospitality and animation team, the fantastic and talented Josuah. Wish him Good luck VIGO City Tour Visited a city in Spain and then Portugal. Was an interesting tour. CHERBOURG The trip to Normandy was our favorite excursion of the cruise. It was very moving, our guide well informed, and the museum at the graveyard very well done. Overall it was a fantastic cruise with great values. Read Less

Sometimes we waited a lot in the bars to be catered for by lack of waiters It was difficult to eat at the buffet for the amount of passengers and many days, after a long day of excursion, we had to eat outside the restaurant, sitting on a sunbed because it was impossible to find a free table. The gym was small for the amount of people we were going to. The stateroom service, very good, always pending of us Being a cold zone cruise, you should have more indoor swimming pools Prices and tips are too expensive. Already paid enough to hire a cruise ship As customers, we have already done several cruises with the company, we hoped to find in the room some detail when arriving, but nothing. Gym classes, too expensive. Should be included in the price All very clean and in perfect order. We miss, at night, some bar with Latin rhythms as we have seen in other cruises. Very good restaurants for dinner and the Red Velvet to eat. Exquisite and very varied food. We would have liked more crew to speak Spanish Read Less

We chose this cruise for its itemerary and price. It was a very good value. You need to understand Costa is an Italian/German line and there's not many English speaking guests on board. If this is a problem for you DO NOTGO ON THIS CRUISE, My wife and I enjoy being around people from around the world. If we want to only be around overweight people speaking English we can just go to the local Cracker Barrel. We had many interesting conversations with guests from all over the world. Unlike Americans, most Europeans can speak English in addition to their native language. Embarkation was a bit chaotic. We waited 2 hours or more in line checking in, On the flip side, disembarkation was very smooth and fast. The food was fine. Not as many choices as to where to eat as we are used to but pretty soon you figure out where to go eat during the day. If you can't decide what to order off the menu just order both choices. You have to pay for most anything, colas, ice cream, etc. The ship is called the Music of the Seas and it lives up to its name, with numerous bars with a variety of music. Our only complaint is that although most of the performers sing and play instruments quite well, they always accompany pre-recorded music. It sounds great having an orchestra behind them but I would prefer the music being all live. Evening shows were very good and good seats were usually available. We did not go on the ship excursions, preferring to arrange them on our own. We used Viator for tours in St. Petersburg and for biking in Tallinn and were very pleased. If you do go rogue and schedule your own tours beforehand in St. Petersburg be absolutely sure your documents are in order or customs won't let you off the ship which would be a major bummer. Overall, we thought the ship was beautiful. Staff was attentitive and food was good. We had a great time! Read Less

MSC is one of the best cruise companies in the world. The staff very kindly. Balcony cabin with all the details you need. The entertainment and activities inside the cruise are very good, Northern cities are gorgeous! Our first cruise with MSC has been spectacular, we did it with our friends in two balcony cabins and it has been impossible to get bored, the ship is a city in the sea, if you want to be relax you got it, if you want to dance for hours you got it. My favorite moment was every day in the evening at the jacuzzi or the pool. Something I did not like too much were the photo shoots before the dinning, I know it is the staff job, but the insist too much even if you decline. But I insist: I know is a part of their job, and I understand it If you have any doubt about which company cruise to choose, this is a guarantee of success. Proof of it: in November we will repeat! I already have the cruise! this time Mediterranean cruise in MSC SPLENDIDA. Read Less
