Jewel OTS is a Radiance class ship, and the right size (2,500 guests) for our taste. We've sailed on RCI several times, always choosing the mid-size ships, and the Jewel deck plan is one of our favorites. There is access to the bow on several decks for those who like to see where the ship is going. Our cabin was a 4B Spacious Ocean View (9240). Jewel is almost 19 years old and does show wear and ...

Jewel of the Seas 1/6 - 1/14 2023
Background – We have completed twenty eight cruises for various companies. This report is based on our thoughts when compared to our previous cruising activity.
Above average results
1. This cruise was considered to be a good value based on length and itinerary.
2. We found the Jewel ...
The first and last time sailing on Royal Caribbean.
*Food: more variety than most cruise lines but inedible, always served cold at the buffet and main dining room worse than a school cafeteria. The buffet took forever for the tables to be cleared, why not use carts to clear tables rather than removing a few plates at a time. My wife and I only went to the dining room twice on this 9 day ...
Like Royal Caribbean. Jewel was out of Port Canaveral and I like that port.
Price was right for Christmas.
Problem...........we were advised no Radiance ships have balconies that open to other cabins.
We travel with our family and love going between the cabins via the deck. Not happening on this cruise!
Now I am leary as to what other ships do not have balconies that open up.
Sofa ...
Embarkation went smoothly. I was at the port at 12:30PM and on the ship by 1:00PM. My luggage made it to my stateroom by 2:30PM.
The ship was really nicely decorated for the holidays and the crew outstanding. AAA+
As a 60's + solo cruiser I prefer more of a tradition cruise experience and the Jewel fits that well.
The Jewel is starting to show her age if you look closely, but overall ...
This was my 4th Royal Caribbean Cruise but, my first with kids. I have only cruised with Royal Caribbean and have sailed on the Sovereign of the Seas (Sovereign Class Retired), Enchantment (Vision Class), and now the Jewel of the Seas (Radiance-class).
The Jewel is a Radiance-class cruise ship and holds about 2500 passengers. This was my first cruise since 2015. We traveled to Miami to board ...
We chose this cruise at the last minute as I was suddenly given a week off. We were on a balcony on the deck eight, mid-ship. Some things about the cruise were due to Oh Fortuna such as calm seas, perfect and not humid weather and aside from a two hour delay leaving Antigua due to a passenger sustaining a broken ankle, all ran smoothly.
The ship is very well laid out. There are eight ...
We chose this cruise because it was one of Royal's smaller ships. My husband and I are elderly and didn't feel that we would be able to navigate a mega ship. Everything on the ship was great. Our only complaint deals with transportation on the piers. Since we are both mobility challenged (not requiring wheelchairs) we found it almost impossible to navigate the piers. Royal should provide ...
I read a lot of reviews for the Jewel of the Seas before sailing, and on this 8-night Eastern Carribean cruise, the ship mostly met my expectations, with two exceptions. Let's go through the good, the bad, and then the unexpected.
Me: 8-night Eastern Carribean cruise; third-time cruiser in my late-20s, on a family vacation.
THE GOOD
First, the good. As multiple reviews mention, the ...
I reside in South Florida with my wife and almost 5-year-old son, who has Asperger's. We recently returned from a Thanksgiving cruise on the Jewel of the Seas. We generally cruise about 1-2 times a year. Our last cruise was an 8-night cruise to the ABC islands on the Adventure of the Seas in December 2019.
I booked this cruise in December 2019 after Royal Caribbean announced that they were ...
