We have cruised on a few ships and I did prefer this smaller ship, yes it's old but was clean and kept well. I liked that I could find a sunbed in a quiet location .
Solarium was a nice place to relax.
Safari club was my bar of choice lots of room and great seats in the stern.
Entertainment was just ok apart from a juggler on last night who was excellent.
MDR had no issues we were on my ...
From England and booked online via Royal Caribbean. First cruise but the destination was the real seller having nothing to compare to. Emirates flight was great to Dubai. Plenty of security at port but no problems with that. Carry all paperwork and credit card to hand. Pre paid deluxe drinks package and most shore excursions.
Ship - previously said nothing to compare to and a little nervous ...
Port calls to Santorini, Mykonos, Athens, and Katakolon await you! Travelers will discover each island differs in its beauty, shopping, food, and activities. Recommend to reserve on board excursions especially in the area of transportation in order to fully enjoy each island. Port call for Rome requires the traveler to consider arriving a couple days prior to embarkation or staying after ...
I think the captain said it best - he likes this class of ships best - the ship has the same propulsion as the largest ships with a smaller ship size. Thus making it the Maserati of the Sea. In February we took a larger ship and the lines for food and challenge of finding pool seating made for a bad experience. There were still the typical chair saving people on board which never works out ...
I wanted to go to the Greek Islands, specifically Santorini and Rhodes, I did a 18 day cruise on RC Radiance of the Seas the year before and although it was old, the food and entertainment were good. On Jewel of the Seas, there were no dance lessons, the food was way below standard for a cruise ship and the staff and cabins left a lot to be desired. Even the Americans on board were complaining ...
We just completed an 11 day Mediterranean cruise on the Jewel of the Seas in April. Overall, we found it to be an enjoyable experience.
Pros:
The train from Rome to Civitavecchia was convenient and took about an hour. There was a shuttle from the station in Civitavecchia to the RCCL area to board buses to the ship. We waited in line for some time to have board a bus to take us to the ...
We selected this cruise since we have always wanted to see the canal. We decided this time of the year to get away from cold and snow in Kansas and to give my wife a break from her cancer treatments. We also made the cruise to celebrate our 50th anniversary and both our 72nd birthdays. We found the cruise extremely interesting, enjoyable and relaxing which is what we were wanting. The Jewel is ...
I was between 3 and 4 stars but went with 4 because of the value you get with this ship. It isn't as big or glitzy as the other boats in the fleet but it makes due. The service was great and the staff works very hard to make your experience the best it can be. The access to the pool/bar was easy. We never had to wait or fight over pool chairs, seating at dinner/buffet. The entertainment was ...
I just returned last night from a 7 day cruise on the Jewel out of San Juan. It was one of my best cruises of the 15+ I have taken. Although I read a few poor reviews of the Jewel, I did not experience what the writers described. The food in Windjammer was very good, the service in the dining room was great and our room service was just as good. I did not like two of the ports we visited, ...
Instead of flying from Rome to Canada, chose to do a TA with some interesting places and some heat, we then switched to the Celebrity Summit to do a one week southern Caribbean. Despite disappointment with the Jewel itinerary changes,we had a great time.
Embarkation and disembarkation were easy.
Ship was old, mid-size, but had more offerings and character than some larger ships. Inside ...
