This was a last minute booking. I booked on Sep 12th around noon and got in the car to drive South. We like sailing at of Jacksonville as it is not to hateful of a drive from Ohio. We were just looking for a quick get away and Carnival Ecstasy did not disappoint. Since we booked so late, our check in time was 1:30PM however, we showed up early on the of chance they were ahead of schedule. We were on the ship around 12:30. Fifteen minutes from the time we parked till we got up on the Lido deck. The ship is showing her age but she is slated for dry dock on October which I expect consist of a good paint job and new décor. We will find out as we are booked on the Ecstasy in November. We had a port hole cabin on the main deck. The room was extra deep based on its location. The room was very clean. For the most part, we ate only on the Lido deck, Bonsai Sushi express or room service. We looked at the dining room menus through the cruise and everything sounded good. I only packed shorts, so we did not go in for dinner. I know that you can but cruise casual to me is at least a golf shirt and pants. Its not difficult and I will they would at the very least enforce the current code even though its to lax. The cruise director Cam and the Fun Squad were very good. Everything we saw, we enjoyed. DJ Spike was one of the better ones that we have seen in a while. The dancers were really good and you could see their practice paid off. This was our first time to Princess Cay. I still prefer Half Moon. While the beach is very pretty, they cram a lot of beach chairs in the various coves so it is hard to get away if you are looking to truly relax. We would definitely go again though. We didn't spend much time in Nassau. I was not feeling great so we just walked around for a few hours Read Less

Our cruise experience was doomed from the start. About a week before our cruise hurricane Dorian started forming. As our sale date approached we kept a close eye on the projected path and Carnival‘s website. As it became clear that hurricane Dorian was going to affect the Bahamas we regularly checked in to make sure that our sailing was still happening and we were going to be going to our ports. Our first day on board was relatively OK. We had clear skies and the lunch buffet was actually really good. That’s the only positive statement I have for the entire cruise. Dinner time rolls around and the dining room was horrible. The bread was under baked . Both my steak and their signature dessert (melting cake)was over cooked. The first night the boat was extremely rough. I had hoped that that would be the only rough seas we would experience. Day two was a day at sea. About halfway through the day the captain comes on and informs us that we were not going to make it to princess Cay and that the port will be substituted with a trip to Key West for a half a day. Key West was OK but definitely not the Bahamas. I had hoped to find a beach only to find out that Key West does not offer beaches. While in Key West my sister calls me and informs me that the Carnival corporate website has updated stating that our trip to Nassau for the next day has now been canceled. We went to the service desk and asked what port we would be going to instead of Nassau. Mind you Nassau was the whole reason we booked this cruise. Absolutely love going to Aquaventure at Atlantis. So we were very disappointed to find out that we were not gonna make it to Atlantis. The service desk denied that the port had been canceled and told us that they couldn’t speak to what their corporate website said. They lied to us. As the ship pulled away from Key West the captain came on and informed us that our trip to Nassau had been canceled and no other ports were available so we were going to be getting a third day at sea. I booked a cruise to the Bahamas ! Not a cruise to float at sea for four days and get a half day in Key West. On top of being stuck on that boat our captain insisted on finding every possible patch of rough seas possible. I couldn’t sleep at night because the boat was rocking so bad. Pool lost half of its water from spilling over hitting waves. And the Lido deck buffet we sat there and watch plates fly across the floor. On our final day at sea the captain informed us that there was a chance we would not be able to return to Jaxport on Thursday. The plan initially was to spend an extra day at sea until the port reopened. Dinner time on our last night at sea the captain comes on to inform us that we will be docking in Port Canaveral and receiving shuttle bus rides back to Jacksonville. It’s really sad when we arrived at port Canaveral customs and border protection waived us on through saying we didn’t take a cruise to anywhere so we did not have to declare anything. Our cruise director found it funny to joke about how we were on a cruise to somewhere but he didn’t know where. Carnival really let us down. They should have canceled our sailing knowing that they were not going to be enough ports available to substitute adequately. But they wanted their money. To add insult to injury the whole reason they docked us in Port Canaveral was so that they wouldn’t have to delay their next sailing. I called the customer service line after we got home and they refused offer us any compensation. I always knew in the contract that they could change ports but I never expected them to treat us so poorly. So our beautiful beach vacation to the Bahamas turned into a week of rough seas, never seeing a beach, and never putting on our bathing suits. We took a cruise nowhere and didn’t even make it back to our original destination. At this point I will never cruise with Carnival again. Read Less

I chose this cruise because I was going with a group of other couples as a couples/family trip. The experience was ok for the most part. This was our 1st cruise bc we mostly fly to our destination of choice. When we got on board we had a hard time finding our room, bc again this was our 1st cruise, the guys at the entrance way asked if we needed help and we told them our room # and one guy just pointed us to the elevators. So when we got on we noticed on the outside there were letters but the inside there were numbers. So we went back and motioned for him to come show us how it worked and again he just pointed to the elevators. So luckily one of the couples we were with showed us how the numbers corresponded with the letters. Ok minor all is well. We go to our rooms to get settled and put our luggage away, when we get a knock on the door and a few seconds later some worker is walking in, talk about invasion of privacy and this happened on several occasions. So then we get finished with the safety review and head to get drinks ( cheers package was already purchased) and food. The guy at the bar seemed very annoyed that we were ordering drinks bc granted it was pretty busy, but he seemed that way throughout the trip. So again we let it go and we started having a good time. Now let's fast forward to the time where I asked for extra cheese on my Guys burger and asked for it to be melted on the grill instead of a cold piece of cheese being thrown on burger and they guy literally rolled his eyes. WOW! So now we get to the end of our 4 day voyage and we get a bill with an additional $55.96 x's 2 for additional "gratuities for your team members". Then once we get home we checked our acct and noticed we were charged for the cheers package twice a total of over $1000 for DRINKS when we have a receipt for $537 total. So bc we were told there would be several holds on our acct we waited to see if the other charges would fall off, they did not so I called Carnival Cruises Customer Service and was informed that one of the charges of over $500 would come off bc it was a hold but the additional $111.92 was there to stay bc we didn't stop by Guest Services to advise them we didn't want to pay the additional for tips. Mind you in the cheers package you are already charged 18%=$82 EACH PERSON for gratuities and now we were charged an EXTRA $111.92. This is a complete rip off and we will NEVER book with Carnival again and will advise any and everyone we know who is thinking of booking Carnival not to do so. The customer service was not all that great and Carnival had the nerve to charge for additional gratuities, what a joke. I am completely not satisfied with this experience at ALL. Read Less

This was a quick get away for my husband and I. Thank you jelly, Cam, the cruise director, Blessings, Superda, from Thailand, Danny, Roel, and especially Hery our cabin steward, also Lelia. You guys were great and made our cruise even better. It was a delight to feel so welcome and you went out of your way to ensure that we had fun. There were so many of you and I hope I haven’t forgotten any of you. Thanks Allison for your guidance during shopping. We got held up in DI in The Bahamas and didn’t get all the perks but that’s ok. We will definitely see you again but not on deck 7. Room E66 was not a great choice for us because of all the noise. It’s a party ship Blessings to you all. What an awesome Captain: can park a ship on a dime. Great job!! Never been on a ship where the captain actually got engaged with us and kept us abreast of everything. We am platinum members and this was by far the best cruise ever. Freeport absolutely sucks. Should be dropped from all ports of call. All I saw was containers and junk. Not attractive. Read Less

I enjoyed myself sooo much. embarkation & disembarkation went fairly smooth, I had my birth certificate, and although you didn't need a passport, I highly recommend it, it makes the overall process easier, as well as getting on & off the ship when you are at port. we had an oceanview cabin, it was nice, spacious for the most part & clean. the food was amazing, I didn't try every restaurant like I wanted to, i mostly stayed at Guy's Burger joint, which have the best burgers I've ever had in my life. the entertainment and activities were fun, our cruise caption Cam made my first experience that much more greater, I loved how there were activities to do every hour of the day, you were never left with nothing to do. the staff were amazing, kept cabin neat & clean, everyone was always smiling & willing to help with anything. I'm glad i picked carnival cruise line for my first cruise. already planning my second & third cruises. I'm happy to now be apart of the cruise life. Read Less

Where to start... 1. Lines, be ready to wait in a lot of them. From dining, boarding and getting off the ship you will spend 10-15% of your awake time standing in some kind of damn line. Also be prepared to have terrible communication from the cruise director as to where you should ACTUALLY go to stand in line as well as poor planning on how to execute service excellence Examples A. Initial boarding - 15-20 Agents are there to check international travel documentation, rolls through semi smooth. Exiting - Only 7 agents to check documentation, causing major delays in getting off the ship. *important if you have a flight to catch. I’ll also mention you are in a steel building in 100 degree Jacksonville heat with no AC. Dip security personal announces “welcome back to the real world, citing line length and to suck it up”. They already have your money, at this point they don’t care about your experience. 2700 people exiting the ship and only 7 lines. Example B. Dining We went here on our honeymoon and never once got to eat breakfast or lunch together. It’s unorganized lunchroom chaos. You can’t start out in 2 different lines and arrive at your table 20 minutes apart. Example C. Excursions If you are told to be on deck 3 to exit the ship; don’t plan on going to deck 3 and expecting to walk off. The line to exit starts on the deck 4 and wraps down two hallways. Don’t expect a carnival agent to actively be communicating this or managing the lines either. This also pertains to your final exit from the ship as well. It’s not that it’s an oversight; it’s just that they don’t care enough to come up with another system. Additionally, Princess Kays lunch had impossible lines for Hamburgers and hotdogs the entire time we were there. We weren’t going to take an hour out of our time there to stand in that line. We are when we got back on the boat. But seriously, 2700 people in two lines to get hamburgers and hotdogs. 2. The “cheers” package. If you think this is going to be all inclusive , its not. It’s limit of 15 alcoholic drinks a day (does not apply on the carnival owned Princess Kays island either, you are paying full price there). This is somewhat expected however here at the ‘extra’ limitations. A. If you are an early riser and would like a coke product or an energy drink in the morning; don’t expect to get it before 8am. Additionally, expect to wait in a separate line if you want a coke with your lunch. *Most important, they won’t give you a unopened (single can) of coke to add ice to and drink in the morning before the bar areas open. I had to ask for a supervisor after my wife requested one for me and got shot down. B. “I’d like a double” is taboo with Cheers. They don’t have the capability of pouring more than one shot at a time. You have to wait 5 minutes and get back in the line and wait for another shot to be added to your glass. Lines vary, but expect a double of liquor to take 15-20 minutes total. Additionally you can not pay extra for a double.m205 3. Beach chairs and pool size Chairs are less than an inch apart from each other on the ship and at the carnival resort. Expect to be right on top of one another and to see many people trip trying to navigate between them. If you don’t like crowds, then you will never swim in the pool. It’s filled to capacity most hours of the day. It’s roughly 1/4 of an Olympic pool size for 2700 guests. 4. Entertainment Pro- Actually really good music Cons- Emphasis on jewelry purchases and art auctions. A lot of emphasis on this. Comic/magician from Chicago was terrible. 5. Broken elevators, 2700 guests. Do the math. 6. Beds are similar to those you’ll find in a camper. 7. Dinners were all actually really good; with great service. Everything is loud. Like REALLY loud. Don’t expect to communicate with other guests if you are a stones throw from any entertainment venue. 8. Carnival rates the ship for 2056 passengers (guests). We were told 2700 were exiting the ship. Everything was amazing. The food was excellent! My wife and I where shocked about how great the food tasted with no sugar. This really gave us a head start to our new diet. We where amazed at the amount of hospitality that was shown. From the first moment of aboarding the ship to the final day of a wonderful trip. The cabin was large for me and my wife! The entertainment was perfect for all ages! The total service across the board was amazing! The port was close to home, easy transition during embarkation and disembarkation! The ports was awesome and shore excursions were wonderful! Thanks Cam, Captain, Chef, and Service Team for making our honeymoon trip fun and romantic. My wife and I cannot wait until our next trip. This cruise was such a great time and turned out better than I thought it would. I have a few minor complaints but there were minimal compared to the awesome time we had. This ship is 20 years old but did not feel like an old ship due to the awesome upgrades it got last year. Guy's Burger Joint and Blue Iguana Cantina were perfect alternatives to the buffet which I typically try to avoid. Red Frog Rum Bar and Blue Iguana Tequila Bar were both excellent and offer a variety of drink options. All of the bars were great (get the Cheers package)! The new WaterWorks splash pad/waterslides were so much fun and even though we were the only adults on them at the time we had an absolute blast. Dining was great with excellent food and service. We did the Sea Day Brunch to enjoy a relaxing meal with excellent food but unfortunately our server was not very friendly and was very short with us. The shows were so enjoyable to watch even though they were exactly the same ones we saw last year on the Splendor. Hopefully Carnival updates them soon before we go again next year. The comedians were hilarious and were a great way to end the night. The lounges were very nice and offered all kinds of activities. I didn't really care for the night club simply because the DJ wasn't very good. The club was very nice and the drinks were nice and strong but the only music played was "gangster rap" music that was incredibly hard to dance to. Everyone on the floor didn't really know how to dance and most were standing around. I would have liked more party dance music like they play at the sail away and deck parties. Read Less

If I needed anything they were there anytime and came back at 8 to clean my room and let me sleep in for a nap. please please please! Give them some recongnition or a promotion because they are amazing! Nassau was kind of a dump but half moon cay was awesome and we saw a stingray. I would do Carnival again but I wouldn’t go back to the Bahamas or not Nassau. I would like to go on a bigger ship next time too so we could do more activities and explore more. The cruise director cam was very nice and funny as well. All for Nassau we enjoyed ourselves and hopefully will cruise again! Read Less

This cruise matched perfectly my kids fall break and it was the reason we chose it. We got the extended balcony Grand Suite and had priority embarkation and debarkation. We are not heavy drinkers so we did not get any drink package and actually brought some wine in the boat. All the restaurants were really good and we did not have to wait long in line at the buffet or to be seated. There had so many activities to do that overwhelms. The evening shows were amazing as well as the comedy club. My favorites were Cam the cruise director, Neil the guitar player and Mow Mow (butchering the name) who had great voices and were able to entertain all day long. My kids love the mini golf and the water slides. They also enjoyed the kids Camp Ocean so much they wanted to go there every day (not the case when we travel to all inclusive hotels in the Caribbean). Overall it was a great first cruise for some of us and a way better cruise for one of us who had cruise before. There were great deals at the shop, the spa, the art gallery, etc, but not that much time to enjoy it all. The crew were so kind and helpful, Wayan the steward would leave nice notes with the fun towels everyday. Anatoliy performed 2 magic tricks for my kids in the dining room. Magali was so sweet and kind to my kids and family. I mean, I could go on, but they really made us feel like family and appreciated. Looking forward to our next cruise. Read Less

We LOVED it! My second cruise, my partners first. We had an ocean view room which was perfect for just the two of us. We loved waking up the sunrise every morning. My only complaint would be the food. It wasn’t nasty, but it wasn’t the best in my personal opinion. The comedy show was hilarious. They have one tiny pool which the kids mostly took over. We went to the adult only retreat one night and just sat in the hot tub enjoying the view. The ship is a little dated sure, but it was extra clean so who cares! There was always an employee cleaning something. The employee were exceptional and our cruise directo, MarQ, was the best! Honestly, my boyfriend was a little skeptical going on a cruise but now he is a cruise addict like the rest of us. LOL Overall, we had a great time and can not wait to go on another carnival cruise!! Not all impressions are lasting but Canival Elation Cruise Staff/crew members made sure that my first ever cruise will be memorable. Food was limitless, amazing. The staff went above and beyond to make the cruise welcoming, friendly, and enjoyable. T’was a blast. Time spent well. Allow me to mention staff/crew members who went above and beyond their services. 1) Bryan Venecero: house keeping, who kept our room spotless at our most convenient time 2) Luna Hugo Jr: Restaurant, the “good morning good morning” gentleman who in some way or another made the ambience of the dining area more homely 3) Febie Jane Quero: hotel stewardess who was all the time ready to assist us in the pool area esp with kids, very pleasant. 4) To the 3 gentlemen in the Imagination Dining Area, Richard, Gener, and Alvaro were always there to make our experience incomparable, i salute to these guys, 10 out of 10, excellent service. Keep it up guys. 4) and last but not the least, Jaymar Sandoval: housekeeping/restaurant, this guy is exceptional, providing service at its best. He greeted us with a welcoming smile and managed to have a chat with me. Jaymar is very professional, thumbs up to this new friend of mine, he will go far, he deserves excellent recognition of his hardwork/professionalism. The main dinning room I only visited twice. It was a long wait for the main dining room. The had an app i downloaded that told us everything happening on the ship. This was our 8th cruise and we were celebrating our 25th anniversary. People ask, “which cruise is your favorite?” I always answer the one I’m on. We had a wonderful time. The crew made us feel special. We received a free bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries at the Heart and Soul show. The cruise director was fantastic. Kevin kept the crowd entertained while keeping the show moving. He was also easy to understand. The shows were phenomenal, if you can get past the animal towel video. The entertainers were some of the best we have seen. Dinner was great. The desserts were a little dry. If you can, make a point to order the filet or Lobster tail. It’s worth it. Take earplugs. It was the first ship the guests were so inconsiderate they ran and yelled at allll hours of the night. The music around the ship was fantastic as well. Here is the bad - Getting off of the boat at ports and disembarkment was horrible. There has got to be a better way to organize things. If you have to tender, put on a patient attitude or it may kill you. We didn’t enjoy the smoking at the bar near the casino. It was in a main walkway and there was no way to avoid it. No track for running. Overall, it was a wonderful trip. Read Less

I made my second cruise with Carnival and I’m done with Carnival. I booked this trip as a 30th wedding anniversary for my wife and I. When I booked the cruise they asked if there was a special occasion and I said “yes, it’s my 30th wedding anniversary”. I guess they didn’t believe me because it was never mentioned by anyone aboard. Ever. Why did you ask? Next, there were only a few of the crew that were friendly and cordial. The rest were being harassed by the guest. At least that is how I was treated when I asked any question to any crew. The food was awful (they started charging for the good food), the cabin was hot, someone on my deck had skunk weed and it filled the halls everyday, the shipped never stopped rocking (unless we were in port), the entertainment was mediocre. I could go on but you probably get it by now. The best part of this cruise was the other passengers. I met some awesome people that will will not soon forget. Things started off kind of rocky. We had a 12 pm boarding time and on the drive down from South Carolina, we get notified that the port is closed, next update at 10am. At 10 we get notified that the port is still closed and the next update is at 12. The last update says the Elation will dock at 12:45 and move your boarding time up 4 hours. We parked at WallyPark by the airport because of some reviews we had read. It was almost 1/2 the price of port parking and was covered. They ran shuttles to the port. I'm assuming because of the late start, it threw everything in a tizzy, because we waited in the parking lot there. The shuttles were few and far between and we waited for almost 2 hours before we finally got on a shuttle. Reservations meant nothing, as the shuttle picked up whoever got to it first. I'm not sure I would use them again. We don't have a lot of cruising experience, but embarkation wasn't that bad. About 4pm, we got our Sail &Sign cards and were on board! First order of business, head straight to Guys Burger joint. Amazing burger. The ship finally sailed about 8pm. We were standing up by the funnel when we went under the Dames Point Bridge. Amazing how close the funnel seems to be to the bottom of the bridge. We hit the Hasbro Game Show that night. I made it on stage for the "Simon" game. It was a blast. DW got it on video! We never laughed so hard watching that video! The next day was a sea day. Lounged by the pool, tried out some drinks, ate when we were hungry, just an awesome lazy cruise day. Nassau was the second day. No excursions for us, but we did get a taxi to drive us around and show us the sights. Quite interesting. Shopping was kind of off-putting for both of us. We just don't care for people trying to push their goods on us. Back to the ship! That night was the "Love and Marriage" game. We were selected as the couple with 26+ years (29 years for us). It was hilarious! We had such a good time. I was in the back, but apparently DW had the answer of the year when asked what she would like larger on me, her reply was "bank account"! She got a standing ovation for that one! It was funny, but we were recognized for the rest of the cruise as "that couple from the game" that had the best answer. The next day was Half Moon Cay. Can't say enough good things about that place. Just beautiful. The water was a bit cold for us to get in, but we had a great day anyway. Sea day the next day. Caught a couple of daytime shows, hung out and just enjoyed another lazy day cruising. Debark wasn't bad. We had to wait a little longer than they said we would, but it wasn't too bad. We were off the ship about 10am. WallyPark had a shuttle waiting when we got off. I'd like to think that if the ship had been on time on embark day, that's how it would have been. We caught all of the shows in the main lounge. Terrific. The comedians in the Punchliner were hilarious. Different routine every night. We also did a lot of the trivia games. The ones in the Atrium at night were the best. You don't even have to participate in the trivia to enjoy it. The entire Fun Squad was great. Kevin the cruise director kept things fun, and Jessica was great, but BK (he said that stands for Black Kevin), he was the life of the party wherever he went. We loved him. We had the social wifi package and it performed well throughout the cruise. We also did the Cheers package. Neither one of us are real drinkers, but we do like to have a few. I don't think we got our money's worth by 150-200 dollars, but it was nice not to have to worry about anything with drinks. I'm not sure if I'd do it again. Read Less

We had a great cruising vacation!. First let me say to those that frown upon carnival as being the cheap low end cruise line..let me say ..cheap is not the word.. but great value, food, entertainment, service are all words that should be used.! This was our 7th cruise and our 6th with Carnival and always a great experience! The one time we did stray was with NCL and all I will say is "never again with NCL'. The recently updated smaller ship had a spacious feel to it and things that stood out were the addiotions of Guys Burger Joint, the Blue Iguana Cantina and the renovated cabins. Our food in all dining venues was delicious and served at the right temperatures! Even the fried chicken on the lunch buffet was incredibly crispy and delish! All that being said, its was the service , and crew on the ship that put our experience over the top!..special shout outs to our awesome cabin steward Nathan and our inspiriation dining room waiter Rinaldo, Excellent service from both! Entertainment on board was some of the best weve ever scene ..both comedians put on great and different routines every show.. the main ship shows were terrific with our faves being "heart of soul" and "epic rock'! our cruise director Kevin Donahue and his assistants Jessica and Emmie were THE BEST! Very fun and engaging!. Kevins love and Marriage show and Atrium Trivia sing a longs were hlaarious highlights not to be missed! and the ships Main Dj ..DJ Saxxy spun some of the best party , feel good vacation music! A great time Overall! Read Less

My wife and I are first time cruisers, and the Carnival Elation was an excellent choice to get our feet wet. The embarkation was a lengthy process, even with FTTF. We were told that there were passengers who had not yet debarked and customs would not clear the ship. Once we stepped onto the ship we were very impressed. I know there are many newer and bigger Carnival ships, but I think if you are a Fantasy class ship lover the Elation fresh out of Dry Dock with major renovations is the ship for you. The food was excellent, the only down side was the Iguana Catina had weird hours which disappointed my wife, we will just have to pay attention more to the open hours. Half Moon Cay was the best part of the cruise, the beach was awesome and we spent all day laying on the beach and drinking. Nassau was a dump in the downtown area, we didn't do any excursions there because we wanted to just walk around and shop, we maybe stayed 3 hours off the ship. There were so many things to do on the ship that we maybe hit 1/3 of the activities for the 5 days We had early dining in the inspiration dining room and the food was excellent. We saw on show, and tried to do the comedy show but the place was packed and we couldn't find a seat. Keven the Cruise Director was awesome and kept us informed on everything throughout the cruise. We smelled burnt oil during this cruise and had power outages. The food on the bar was cold and not good quality, breakfast in particular. The dining room food was ok. Horrible experience at port when we returned(unorganized). The cushions at the Serenity section of the ship were terribly stained. Did not have towel animals, although it is stated will have these daily. The information about meeting the Captain was not communicated properly. I was not clear on the Captains dinner. I was told that food on any cruise is great, but not this one. On a positive note, the entertainment was good and that is the only thing that I enjoyed and the restrooms on board were kept clean. This being my first cruise,I was not expecting perfection. I was very disappointed and do not plan on taking another one due to this experience. Thank you for allowing me to express my opinion. The shop was very old and outdated. There wasn't much to do with kids except the kids club and pool. The service was great but one of the staff members lost my kids sail and sign card. The food was average nothing to exciting. The arcade games cost a lot of money to play and our kids spent all our money. The mini golf corse was nice even though it was always crowded and windy. Our room was horrible. When you book the room you don't know if your going to get the renaveted side or not. We got the 1990s side and it was terrible the floor and tiles were very dirty. And they advertise it like everybody get the new room. The private island was okay there wasn't any excursions but Nassau was nice. The app was helpful and it helped me remember formal night. Over all we had a average cruise adventure. Read Less

My husband and I chose this cruise because we wanted to visit the Bahamas and the dates lined up perfectly following our wedding. However, when we arrived, we had to wait 2 hours to get into our room after driving 10 hours to get to the port. Then we get to the room, we were given BUNK BEDS! We were told it would be changed. went back after the briefing and were told by someone different that nothing could be done. Service was HORRIBLE. The food was decent, could have been better. We were given a bottle of champagne for our "troubles" which we looked up online that cost $9.00, how insulting. The boat was outdated AND one of our locations were canceled, and we were taken to a Carnival Man-made Island! I advise everyone to read reviews before booking! If you're a first timer, you may like this cruise ship...but it was a huge downgrade for me! Read Less

Me and my boyfriend (at the time) wanted to take a vacation that didn't cost us a fortune and would allow us to travel somewhere we had never been before. Of course our first thought was CRUISE! We looked into several different cruise lines and different places we could travel to, but Carnival Elation was our best bet as far as price wise. We was a bit skeptical because lets be honest, you get what you pay for and for a 4 day cruise traveling to the Bahamas - it was extremely cheap! I did all my research of course; checking out the reviews and fine print. I will say the reviews had me wanting to back out immediately! Overall it was an amazing vacation. The embarkation was a breeze, our cabin was clean when we arrived - cleaned several times daily and stocked with fresh clean towels, the food was great, our steward called us by name and even went out of his way to make sure we had a great vacation. The staff was amazing and their hospitality was above and beyond - I cannot stress that enough!! I will say the alcohol was extremely expensive but that was ALL we paid for the whole time on the cruise. On the flip side we met several people who had cruised numerous times and informed us that you can sneak your own alcohol on the ship, just buy the plastic bottles and put it in your carry on bag. So next time we will have that covered! While in Freeport we went to Tiano Beach, which was nice! The cab ride was $7 pp there and then $7 pp back and $3 to enter the beach - overall total spent in Freeport $34 (not including the drinks and food we had.) While in Nassau the weather wasn't that great - very windy and cloudy. We decided to take a tour with Perry, one of the local tour guides. He drove us all over Nassau showing us the poor side and the more wealthy side, Atlantis, Queen's Staircase, The Rum Cake Factory, the local spot to get conch (we even got to try some), The Straw Market (beware of "hustlers") and then dropped us right off at Junkanoo beach, which was a short distance from the ship. Overall the tour lasted about 3 hours and it was only $30 pp. Being that the weather wasn't great it was the perfect thing to do! If you decide to do a tour while in Nassau be sure to ask for Perry - you wont be disappointed! Traveling back home was a little rocky since the wind was crazy. I highly recommend taking motion sickness pills with you - we were sea sick a few times on the way back, especially while in our cabin. The ship has so many things going on that you really don't even need to be in your cabin unless your sleeping or getting ready. We went to a comedy show, love and marriage game show, the night club, played some in the casino (didn't win any money though), played trivia and they even had a huge deck party going on one night! When we arrived back in the states the debarkation process took longer than expected, but that's about the only negative thing I have to say about the whole 4 day cruise. Overall our first cruise was amazing and very affordable! Oh and I got ENGAGED!!! I hope my review pumped you up for your cruise or led you into the direction of booking one. DO NOT let the bed reviews discourage you!!! Read Less
