On a larger ship with better ports of call, this could easily have been a 5. The staff were excellent, as usual, and made the best of our Hurricane Matthew experience. It was nice to see Key West on the first day, but it doesn't seem like anywhere we'd want to port again. After touring a bit and hitting one of the beaches, we snorkeled with Sunset Watersports. I would recommend them. On the second day, we rented a jeep and drove up to Key Largo, where we had lunch and caught some rain from the very farthest out bands of Matthew. Check out Hobos Cafe if you get the chance. The evening dining was great, but the food selection seemed a bit less exciting than our previous Carnival cruise, with smaller portions, which on the other hand means you can try more selections without stuffing yourself. The cabin was excellent, but somehow we ended up with some nasty water backing up out of the shower drain a couple of times. It wasn't much, but enough to get around the sink area. We just laid a couple of towels down and pressed on. Although I will by no means exclude Fantasy class ships from future trips, we'll definitely be preferring the larger ones. The larger boats seemed to offer more activities during sea days. As far as Matthew is concerned, those of you who cancelled, especially before you could do it and get a refund, are fools. Carnival is not going to risk the liability of losing hundreds of millions on losing a ship and its passengers. We were nowhere near the hurricane and except for a few minor swells, the ship was completely stable and the weather was great. We ended up with 1 extra day on the ship with a $100 credit and 25% off our next cruise. I'm tempted to book hurricane season every year now. Read Less

This was the 3rd time we have taken this cruise out of San Juan and the other 2 times was on the VALOR--which we loved...the Fascination was such a let down and much too small of a ship. Our inside cabin was unfortunately directly below the Galley...the noise level ALL hours of the night was horrific and RUINED our cruise experience on this ship. When we complained after the first night we were told to call the desk and they would send someone up to the galley to quiet down...well that lasted on 10 - 15 minutes. We were then offered ear plugs for the noise level - which did help...on the 3rd day we were offered another cabin but did NOT want to pack everything up only to unpack it in another cabin. I must say Carnival did their best to try and accommodate..but in reality these cabins should not even be available to be booked or be booked a greatly reduced rates letting guest know of this issue. Did not like the way the Casino is set up on both sides of the main isle. The small bands that were playing were in hidden areas. Our days on the island were fun and exciting. We are platinum members and will NEVER book a small ship again Read Less
