We sailed with cruise from Izmir to Greek Islands of Chios, Santorini, Rhodes and Crete with Celestyal Nefeli between September 4 and 8, 2016. Overall the management’s philosophy was to keep the costs to a minimum (being cheap) resulting in substandard quality. Here are some notes regarding the cruise. The food quality was very poor and selections very limited. The dining room was very crowded with limited seating. The rooms above the entertainment lounge was very loud during entertainment which ended around 12 am. We could not sleep in our room until then. When we complained about this situation, the staff was helpful and changed the room. It appears this is a known problem apparent from staff’s reaction but is not addressed to mitigate. You become aware of it when you are exposed to it. Although more than 95 % of the passengers were Turkish, the first announcement was in English which we thought was not appropriate. Although the service personnel was very helpful and nice, the officers and other staff was crabby and not helpful. Information on transportation (how to go to sightseeing places etc) were not provided (even when asked) and information on sightseeing places were not available. Staff’s main concern was to sell the excursion packages marketed by the cruise. Shore excursions were not well planned. In Chios, the ship arrived too late (on schedule) at 6 pm and the part of the tour was done in dark. The ship sailed very slow to Chios and could have arrived earlier at a faster speed to allow more time at the Island. The time spent at Chios was about 5 hours not enough for anything meaningful to do. The tour at Santorini did not give enough time to spend at Oia, Fira but wasted 3 hours at a meaningless beach. They could have offered the option to get off at Fira as the bus passed through Fira before it went to the beach. We did not buy tours at Rhodes and Crete and visited at our pace and liking which was much better. The rooms were not very clean. Overall, I would not recommend this cruise and suggest exploring alternatives. Read Less
