We chose Viking because we had a great experience with Viking three years ago on a Rhine cruise. The cabin was beautiful, but there was nightly work being done on the deck above our cabin that woke us up almost every night. We complained, but it still happened. Also, upon boarding we had difficulty finding our cabin. When we boarded the river cruise, there was a crew member escorting every guest to their cabin. On the cruise ship, we were on our own and it was more difficult to find. Our cabin was in the front on the upper deck where only one set of elevators actually went to our floor. The restaurants were good, but choices were limited in some places. For example at the pool, it was the same menu every day. It would have been nice to have the restaurants feature foods from the area we were traveling. The only restaurant that did this was the World Cafe and that food was like cafeteria food. The staff, just like on the river cruise, was outstanding, the only difference was that they seemed over worked, and they talked about it. They were working long hours with short down time and they mentioned this to the passengers. We had two problems with shore excursions. In Santorino Viking should not have allowed "leisure walkers" to go on the shore excursions. The hills were too severe and the sidewalks too uneven. The guide did her best, but a few people on our tour and a person we ate dinner with basically sat on the bus the whole time. When we were on the river cruise cruise, Viking had a modified versions of the daily tours for "leisure walkers" which were the over 55 and had difficulty walking, had walkers ,etc. In Dubrovnik we had a tour guide who was not sensitive to the over 55 crowd. In Dubrovnik they have their own currency and all of the public rest rooms required exact change with that currency. Having arrived just that morning and not knowing this several people on out tour needed to use the rest room and had no where to go. They ended up walking back to the ship and missing out on the rest of the tour. Sounds crazy, but it's a problem for the over 55 group. I would love to do more cruising with Viking, but it is too expensive. It's a special occasion cruise company for us. i'd like to see you stop mailing me so many catalogs. I'm in the direct mail business, so I know how expensive these are. I get a piece of Viking mail almost daily; some days multiple pieces, plus getting emails a couple days a week. Perhaps if you saved money with the mailings you could reduce the price of your cruises. Read Less

We wanted to visit Istanbul and Italy and we picked a cruise that would allow us to travel between Turkey and Italy. We specifically selected Viking because they are the BEST! Best food, best service, best ships, best crew, best itinerary, best on board experience and best schedule. Did I mention that Viking is the BEST! Every aspect of our cruise was a wonderful experience. The "basic" restaurant was at least a 5 star for selection and quality of food and the opportunity to eat on our schedule was very much appreciated. The speciality restaurants were even better and were included at no additional price. Wine with your meal was always just a glance away! And room service for those couple of times when we just wanted to rest a bit! The evening preview of the next day's excursions was always complete and professional as well as personal. Many evenings included a lecture on the culture, history, or current events of the area we were visiting. Another great feature of Viking was the free included wi-fi service and a very convenient and free self laundry facility that enabled us to do a small amount of laundry as needed and therefore pack less when we left home. Overall our experience with Viking was wonderful and we are already booked for two more cruises in 2017! Read Less

We had always wanted to visit Turkey, Greece and the Dalmatian coast, and this Viking cruise from Istanbul to Venice gave us that and more. The brand-new Viking Star is an extraordinarily beautiful and comfortable ship. The courteous, friendly and cheerful staff gave us five star service every moment of every day. We had been a bit nervous about being among 900 passengers, worrying that we might experience lines and crowds, or feel herded. We need not have worried. The Viking team made getting on and off the ship, going in to dine, and all shore excursions totally convenient and seamless. We never waited or felt rushed or herded, and excursion groups numbered only about 35 people, similar to river cruises we have taken. The educational programs and entertainment were top notch. And the FOOD! We tried all of the half dozen or so venues and loved them all, from the casual World Cafe and Mamsen's to the table service Restaurant, to gourmet Italian cuisine at Manfredi's and nouvelle cuisine at Chef's Table. We did not dare to get on a scale when we got home. Of course, the cruise itinerary is what attracted us in the first place. We felt like we had traveled back in time in our visits to ancient Troy, Ephesus, Athens, and Santorini, and when we walked around the medieval walls of Kotor, Montenegro, and Dubrovnik and Pula, Croatia. It is a beautiful part of the world, and we feel fortunate to have been able to visit it in such a luxurious way. Read Less

We have been on a lot of cruises and this was truly amazing. On our way to the ship, my husband mentioned that he hoped this lived up to his very high expectations. He was not disappointed. Unfortunately, this cruise has spoiled us for any other cruise line. The (superior stateroom) cabin (and bathroom) was larger than on most ships. The food everywhere was wonderful - not only the best food I've had on a cruise ship but often, the best food I've had anywhere. The ship is beautiful - elegant and tasteful. The service was excellent. Embarkation and disembarkation were fast and smooth. The tours (optional and included) were top notch. Almost everything you could want (wifi, wine or beer with meals, tours, specialty restaurants, specialty coffees, fresh squeezed orange juice) were included. The spa was lovely and relaxing. There were interesting lectures to help you understanding of the ports we were visiting. The other passengers could only be described as "adult - well traveled and interesting" This is not a cruise for children or people just looking for a loud/ drunken good time. I am sure we will cruise with Viking again. We had originally gone on a Viking River cruise and were very impressed by how well run and excellent it was. When we heard about the start up of their ocean line, we booked a cruise immediately. The staff was beyond helpful and went out of their way to make our trip perfect. They truly succeeded. Read Less

Beautiful ship, friendly staff, excellent food. Never seemed crowded with only about 900 guests. Everything went smoothly. Stateroom was top notch. Don't think I'd ever go on a large cruise ship again after going on the Viking Star. It was a luxurious experience. Even the public restrooms were first class. There are plenty of common areas, beautifully decorated in Scandinavian style. Classical trio played most nights. Oldies rock band played at night poolside with dance floor. Talks by subject matter experts about the region were excellent. This cruise/ship is not great for children. In fact, there were no children on this cruise. If you want a cruise with children, I'd look elsewhere. The embarkation process was a breeze. The disembarkation process was very well organized and went very well. Much less hectic than a 3000 person cruise. We chose all the included shore excursions except for one. All were run by local guides who spoke very good English and had a great knowledge of their area. The history in these ports is very interesting. The only included excursion that was a disappointment was the one in Athens. That one needs or improvement or it would be best to take one of the upgraded ($) excursions. We had a Penthouse Veranda stateroom. It was larger than our friend's Deluxe Veranda. Had more storage furniture and area to move around. We'd recommend a Penthouse Veranda. They extra cost is worth it. However, that bathroom (a nice size with good shower) is the same for either stateroom. We liked the cruise so much, while on the cruise we signed up for an Eastern Caribbean cruise in January 2017 on the same ship! Read Less

It was a Viking cruise! We had previously traveled on a Viking River Cruise, and when we learned that Viking was starting up an ocean cruise, we jumped on board. We selected the Eastern Mediterranean since the ports of call seemed so interesting to us. Our departure city was Istanbul and we were to have explored that city before setting sail. However, and this is to Viking's credit, due to terrorist incidents in the city near the date of our departure, the itinerary was changed. We flew into Istanbul, but Viking set sail the night of our arrival for a port where we could visit the ruins of Ancient Troy. The cruise was simply lovely. Our cabin was terrific! The regular and specialty restaurants were wonderful and the staff superb! The included shore excursions were well planned and we took advantage of many of them. Due to the ship's smaller size, we were able to dock very close to the sights. All of the guides were extremely knowledgeable and made each excursion interesting and enjoyable. Absolutely would travel with Viking again! Read Less

I chose this cruise because I already had experience with Viking, and knew that the quality of the ship and the service would be excellent, and because the route of this cruise included several places that I had wanted to visit for a long time. This was our first ocean cruise on Viking. The ship is exquisite; the cabins are lovely, and, as expected, the service was superior. We had a wonderful time. I have previously been highly impressed with the quality of the guides that Viking employs. I was not disappointed on this cruise. The guides at each shore excursion were very informative, and also very kind and helpful to those in our group who needed extra time or assistance to get around on uneven ground. The dining experience was superb. Good food, very fresh and well prepared. The lecturers on the ship were very informative and entertaining. The musical entertainment that we saw was very high quality. We particularly enjoyed a trio that played classical music in the atrium. We had afternoon tea several times, and sat in the hot tubs on other afternoons, watching the Adriatic and Aegean seas flow by. Always curious, we explored the ship from top to bottom, finding a putting green on the top deck. Since I was sending email photos with descriptions as well as Facebook messages every day to my family and friends, I have convinced a sizeable group of people that if they want to take a cruise in this area, this is the one to take. We chose this cruise because of the many destinations we had wanted to see, and this one checked off a lot of them. We were lucky enough to go into Istanbul 4 days early, probably one of the last cruises going in there. We booked our pre-trip seperately from the cruise line. It was wonderful, and we hope that Istanbul and the rest of Turkey get back to some terrific tourism! A gorgeous and historically important city. The Viking Star surpassed our expectations! I don't do open water well, but we had fantastic weather while we were onboard! We got to see Troy, Epehsus, and the fabulous Santorini. We met up with our new sister ship the Viking Sea, and the whole day, start to finish, was spectacular. We sailed into the caldera side by side, on a breath-taking morning, to a whole lot of celebration with Viking! We did stop in Athens as well, but, Athens is still in a state of turmoil, and the city was a graffitti mess. We journyied up to Montenegro, and Croatia, and departed in Venice, which we did not stop at, because we had been there previously. The Viking Star was a wonderful ship, with so many different places to dine and drink and entertainment, that you never even realized there were 900 people onboard. The entertainment was good, and and the series of talks were outstanding. The specialty restaurants were fantastic! The crew was fun and friendly, and more than helpful. The spa was a dream, who else has a "snow room" onboard?? Our cabin was roomy and comfortable, and even had a free stocked mini fridge, which was replenished daily. Don't miss out trying this fabulous "Small ship"!! Read Less

We arrived in Istanbul several days early to explore the city with the three other couples in our group, using Tours by Locals online in advance of the trip to find a guide. This was our fifth cruise, but our first on Viking. We had a wonderful experience, with great food at all venues and uniformly excellent service from all staff members. This ship is beautiful, and even our "deluxe veranda" cabin was great--not large, but very well designed and comfortable, with enough room for my husband to do his yoga poses there every day. (We didn't get a chance to try the fitness center and classes offered there, due to schedule conflicts, but I know group yoga and pilates classes were offered.) We loved the fact that Viking includes so many things that other cruise lines have been charging extra for in recent years (e.g., one included tour at each port, a veranda for every stateroom, free meals at all venues including the specialty restaurants requiring reservations, wine and beer included at lunch and dinner.) We attended four evening shows and enjoyed them all. The entertainers were young, personable, and talented. The included shore excursions were interesting and well organized. Despite Viking's decision to make a last-minute change in itinerary (due to terrorist threats in the general area), everything went quite smoothly, and the bonus was an extra port (Cannakale/Troy). Security and hygiene precautions throughout the cruise were effective but unobtrusive. Both embarkation and disembarkation went very quickly and smoothly. Our final destination was Venice, Italy. Once again, we elected to explore that city for several days on our own before flying back to the U.S. We would take another Viking cruise--river or ocean--in a heartbeat. My husband, who normally isn't wild about cruising, says he'll gladly become an unpaid spokesman for Viking. When the budget allows, I'd like to try a Viking river cruise. Another passenger told us that Viking plans to offer river cruises in the U.S. in the next two or three years, and we'll be the first in line for one of those. We highly recommend this cruise and this cruise line! Read Less

We have enjoyed the Viking River cruises, and trusted Viking to please us once again on this new ocean cruise. They did not disappoint! Although we were greatly unhappy that the tour of Istanbul had to be cancelled (our main reason for choosing this cruise), we loved all the other ports of call and excursions. We consider every aspect of Viking cruising of 5-star caliber, and Empires of the Mediterranean lived up to this expectation -- except for the pre-cruise, post-cruise options. Viking River cruises always offer accommodations and guided tours at each end, that allow for adjusting to the time zone, etc. This cruise did not. Little planning went into thinking through what guests might want and need at each end of the cruise, as we would have loved spending more time in both Istanbul and Venice, but no accommodations were forthcoming. Except for that, everything was exceptionally well-planned. The ship was spacious, and we never felt crowded -- in fact, we were surprised by how evenly distributed guests seemed to be at all times throughout the journey. Our cabin was comfortable and kept very clean. The food was marvelous, the Enrichment Lectures superior, and the service everywhere provided well and with a smile. We were also fortunate in that the weather could not have been better throughout our journey. The seas were calm, and we only needed a light jacket a few of the mornings. The entire experience was amazing, interesting, fun and educational. Kudos to Viking! Thank you. Read Less

We have been on over 20 cruises and I have to say this was the best overall. The ship was more like a 4 star hotel then a ship. The dining was one of the best even the buffet was great. They had Snow Crabs and Sushi every night plus the same food they had in the restaurant. The specialty restaurants were wonderful, great service and food. This is also included in the price of the cruise. Wine, beer and soda are included at lunch and dinner at no charge. High tea each day at 4pm was also a nice treat. Each day they had either a string and flute trio, guitar or piano player at tea and in the main foyer and the bottom or the staircase. Our cabin was spacious and had a large closet. The bathroom was nicer then many hotels I have been in. Plexiglas enclosed shower with a small seat. Our cabin steward was wonderful and fulfilled all our requests. Service was good in the whole ship and everyone had a smile and you could tell they all wanted to be there. Spoke to many of the crew from the Captain down and they all said they loved their jobs. Ports were wonderful and guided walking tours were included with each port. Most ports you could go back with the guide to the ship or go out on your own and take a shuttle back. I cannot say enough about this whole cruise. It was amazing. It was great not to be followed around by a photographer. We never had to walk thru noisy smoke filled casinos or listen to unruly children. Viking is the cream of the crop. Read Less

We scheduled this trip, with two other couples, 18 months in advance. We wanted to explore eastern Europen countries that we had yet to experience. Though we didn't get to see much of Istanbul, due to enhanced security, we were impressed that Viking called us to hear our input regarding other port destinations. We arrived just before sunset. We heard the call to prayer as we passed views of the mosque. That left us wanting more. Embarkation was very smooth. We boarded with only a couple of others. We were happy to find our spacious, compfortable rooms. It was Easter Sunday. Viking never fails to add a special touch, a much appreciated chocolate bunny! This was our sixth Viking experience and our first ocean journey. We experienced the passing of the shake-down voyage of the Viking Sea as the sun rose one morning. Celebrating with champagne as a helicopter captured the moments along with us was a special gift. We get attached to the well-trained staff. They enhanced our experience in every possible way. Viking is consistently amazing. Their employees are wonderful. I was impressed how spacious the ship was organized. Never did I feel as I have on large cruise ships, crowed and hurded. We were able to enjoy all aspects of The Star and found special areas to relax before dinner such as the Explorer Lounge and the pool area. I look forward to Viking cuisine, it never dissappoints. I've come to expect the delightful included excursions but the offerings of extra excursions made it difficult to choose. Regardless, we we happy with our choices. I would love to take this trip again but not until I have experienced all the other itineraries. We are booked again on the Star, May 2017. We are already looking forward to another Viking journey in welcomed comfort. This time we'll be traveling with people we met on our China trip! Read Less

We chose this cruise as it had all the destinations we wanted. We explored Istanbul in advance on our own and always felt safe, however, I certainly understand Vikings choice to take the tours off the schedule. I wish we had added more than one additional night in Venice. Way to much to explore in a day. Very much enjoyed receiving champagne on embarkation. The cabins were well appointed- loved the heated bathroom floor! Our room steward made sure we had everything we needed and checked back for questions. It was nice to choose whether we wanted to pay for an excursion or join the included. For the most part, the tour guides were very knowledgeable and we had time on our own to explore as we wanted. I have specific dietary needs and was so pleased to have a staff member assigned to dealing with this. It made travel and eating much less stressful!! The service was impeccable. Staff greeted us and spoke always. It was fun to watch the officers run down the halls and shake hands. We even had the opportunity to speak with the captain. What a open and engaging man! The weather could not have been more perfect. While there were times we had to wait for a shuttle after exploring on an excursion, the guides always made it clear where to be and how much time we had. We enjoyed some of the entertainment and had a great time at the movie under the stars- popcorn included!! Sometimes the entertainment was at times that conflicted with other things, but you always had choices. I would go again in a heartbeat. Read Less

Viking cruises are elegantly casual but never stuffie . The Explorers lounge and the spa Pool area were my favorite spaces. Both calm, soothing and a great place to relax and unwind. This certainly will not be our last Viking cruise. We are looking forward to a river cruise to Portugal in the future with Viking. We enjoyed meeting the captain on several occasions. The ship was very new. Excursions, tips, and beer and wine were inclusive and we had wifi in our cabin for free. All cabins had a balcony and we wanted a luxury cabin to be pampered. Our Explorer Suite was phenomenal and the service throughout the ship was stellar. The walk in closest, bath with a view, and heated towel racks were some of my personal favorite unexpected highlights of the room. Laundry and dry cleaning were free. Coming home without a huge pile of laundry made return to reality much easier. The Viking Cruises focus more on the ports and less on a large variety of things to do on the boat. We wanted to learn about different destinations and be able to relax in between destinations. The lectures provided by on board specialists were fascinating. The additional benefit of these being recorded so we could watch them on our own schedule was an added bonus. We would definitely go again. We were on the younger side of the clientele and would have preferred some of the excursions to be more active. We had initially chosen some more active excursions, but when it came time to register, these were no longer a choice. This was our only disappointment. One caution, our Explorer Suite was on the bow on deck 3. In front of our suite was an area not open to guests but where the flags were changed and the anchor was weighed. Some mornings the anchor in particular was a bit noisy. We loved our suite and the trip so much and were so fascinated by the views and even the daily workings of the ship that this disturbance did not bother us much. However, other consumers may feel differently. Read Less

My evaluation would be to tour the Blue Mosque and Sofia Mosque in Istanbul, and spend a few days getting to know Venice at the end of the cruise. Overall we are very pleased with the cruise and the ship. Absolutely and totally perfect in the ship's appearance, on board expectations and entertainment and food, all more than expectations. Also, the staff, especially Marta, as desk and cruise ship liason for rooms and people traffic, she was excellent. Our rooms were more spacious than our former Viking Cruise rooms and of course the room stewards we very attentive. I used room service for late night delivery and that was very efficient. All staff were friendly and took the time to get to know us and tell us about their home town base and when they might travel again. They work so hard but smile, greet, help and assist every minute. They are wonderful. Service was outstanding. My only criticism is that I find the pricing and constant promos and sales very confusing. And, I think Viking needs to honor singles more fully. Millions of singles wish to travel but have to pay for 2 on a Viking Cruise. Many other cruises, tour programs and hotel packages offer much better prices for those who travel alone. We had not been on an ocean cruise for many years, although we have done 3 River Cruises with Viking. Flying to Europe from Australia is a long haul and we like to stay overnight in Asia to break the trip up into manageable "chunks". While Viking booked our flights, we had to find our own accommodation and transfers. Because of the flight schedules, we arrived in Istanbul 2 days ahead of our pre-cruise tour to Gallipoli and Troy. Again we had to find our own accommodation and transfers. We felt if Viking had made sure we were all in Istanbul at least a day before the tour and had booked us into a hotel of their choice, we would have been collected from there at an earlier time and had more time on the tour instead of wasting the entire morning waiting at the airport and not getting on the road until about 2.30pm. We also found the ground crew in Istanbul very difficult to communicate with - problem solving was not their forte. The ship itself was beautiful - simple and elegant design, well furnished and easy to get around. We enjoyed a couple of crazy games of golf up on the sports deck and attended as many concerts and cabarets as we could. Our cabin was spacious and we appreciated the night light in the bathroom. The restaurants were excellent - our night at the Chef"s Table was an amazing experience. The simplicity and choice at the World Café was great for an easy option at any time of day and Manfredis was another delight. Not only in the restaurants, but everywhere on board, the staff gave friendly and special service. Their use of iPods helped them remember us as guests rather than passengers and I thought it was a very practical aid, in an era when technology seems to isolate people more than it should. For the most part the shore excursions were very well run and interesting. We had our problems with the pre-cruise tour in Istanbul and I was disappointed with the winery tour in Pula and, of course, our biggest disappointment was not being able to join the post-cruise tour of Venice. Being Australian clients, we sometimes feel we miss out on offers that are made to the Americans. We have always sailed with Viking and wish to in the future. I'm sure as the company become more experienced in Ocean Cruising they will address some of these issues and make it a special occasion for all travellers Read Less

After a long flight with no problems and no long layovers, thanks to Viking's scheduling, we arrived in Istanbul, ready to board the ship and begin our tour that evening. We were met by a friendly, smiling staff and crew, who continued to seek to please and deliver great service. The Viking Star was beautiful and the accommodations unbelievable! We immediately felt welcome and that we were "living the good life" when we walked into our superb room, our home away from home for the next three weeks. We never felt rushed during our great variety of port and shore excursions led by knowledgeable local guides. The food was fantastic and offered a wide selection so that all of our tastes were satisfied, often featuring local delicacies. We cannot praise the Cruise Director enough for his choice of guest lecturers, local talent, and port talks. The variety of entertainment on board had something for everyone's taste and was top-notch. Our disembarkation was made easy by the efficient staff, although we hated to leave after such royal treatment. In fact, we enjoyed our cruise so much that we will be on the Viking Sea as it sails from Barcelona to Bergen in April. Thanks, Viking, for making our dream vacation a reality! Read Less

This was our first cruise and we are looking forward to another with Viking. The size of the ship was perfect, very well run by all crew personnel in all areas of the ship. While we don't have another to compare with, I can honestly say "why bother". It was exactly what we wanted as far as a cruise experience. It's topnotch in our view, the layout of all areas were were so well designed, it made it feel even larger than it was. The crew members were extremely efficient and polite. We loved that the dining areas provided different ambiance and all were very satisfying to our palate. We thought the excursions were very good, but perhaps needed more detail on some of them as to the demand of areas for walking, etc. We had no problems, but did help some who were having difficulty getting around. The cruise and tour directors provided exceptionally detailed information regarding the ports being visited. It was especially nice to be able to review those presentations on the TV in your room. A nice surprise was the beauty of the walled cities and harbors of Kotor and Dubrovnik. This is definitely a cruise to be taken by everyone - for the beauty and history of the sites. Finally, we loved the 'all-inclusive' aspect of the cruise. Made it so simple, yet relaxing (and no formal requirement). Read Less

Having conducted 2 Viking River Cruises we were looking forward to our first Ocean Cruise of any sort and were not disappointed. Initially concerned when we read reviews of the early cruises any problems had been sorted by the time our cruise took place. Staff were friendly and approachable; food was excellent and so much choice; tours were well planned and ran smoothly with disembarkation and embarkation, even by boat, well timed and executed as long as people turned up at the times specified and did not try to go on tours earlier than they were supposed to! The only downside about the tours is that if you choose to go on one of the paid tours you receive no compensation for the included tour you did not take and this can work out expensive. That said the included tours were generally fine for getting a feel for the places visited and are similar in style to those included in River Cruise tours. Cabins are a good size and the veranda is lovely even in the autumn weather. Bathroom a good size and storage is good. Public areas have enough seating and the 3 pools and SPA are just great. Despite autumn we ate breakfast and lunch outside every day (though some found it cold) and had no problem dining in the evening at the times we wanted. Unlike river cruise you eat at a time that is good for you and can eat as a couple or join in with others if you wish. Embarkation was well handled though it was frustrating at Istanbul airport where porters insisted on taking luggage to the waiting coaches where it would have been quicker for those who were able to take their own. Unfortunately this is the only cruise where you do not arrive in the disembarkation port the day before so we did not have a day in Venice (we knew this so visited Venice separately earlier in the year). I believe all other cruises have a day in port either end. Read Less

The cruise was nicely done. New ship! I enjoyed every moment of it. The crew were friendly and helpful. The check in and out seemed to go smoothly. I can see every crew took pride of their work/ship. We met great shipmates and had a great time. My husband and I went to the Gym almost everyday. Great gym with fancy exercise equipment. We love the fire and ice near the pool. The shore excursion seemed great. I thought we were better off to just use the excursion that came with the cruise instead of buying other excursion. There were few things I thought the cruise could improve: 1. The jewelry was way overpriced. I understand that vendors like Effy are not affiliated with Viking. Whoever from Viking worked with the vendors should have done some homework. I love jewelry and usually buy a piece of jewelry from every place I visited for my memory. The price for Effy for example was three times more than what I would have paid back home at Macy's or Lord and Taylor. It was disappointed. 2. My husband was not happy about the fact that there are no sport TV channels 3. The nail spa were ridiculously expensive. I paid almost $100 for 15-20 min of work. 4. The onboard entertainment was ok. I understand that it is a small cruise ship and does not have the space to do a major production. Other than the above, we had no complaint. We look forward to going to the River Cruise with Viking this December. Read Less

Fabulous trip with great tours, food & accommodations. It was all above our expectations. We were upgraded to Penthouse category which was a great bonus. It has been our dream to visit Istanbul, Kusadasi, Santorini, Monenegro, Croatioa, & Pula. Spending the last day in Venice on our own at Viking's expense just added to our enjoyment. There were some issues with flights but Viking did their best to resolve them. Tours were included. This is great since other cruises always charge extra. Our guides were local and knowledgeable. They were able to answer our questions and provide insights only locals would know. Food was fabulous. Dining experience at Manfredi's and especially the Chef's table were not to be missed. We requested a table for two and were always accommodated. This was especially nice. Both of us are looking forward to future travel with Viking! Read Less
