traveled as a single with another couple. The food was great, the tours were great, the size of the ship was great. Read about it in the brochure and online. Empire cruise was actually 4 legs combined sequentially from Istanbul to Stockholm. What a trip! I can only say WOW! Service and food was exceptional. Staff was most attentive, friendly, and was hard to say goodbye after getting to know them over the 50 days. Staterooms were great with balconies and nice modern bathrooms.

I had always wanted to do a "Maiden Voyage" and this was our chance. The Viking Oceans concept fascinated us from the beginning; we hate mega-ships, we do not frequent casinos, we have zero interest in rock-climbing walls, zip lines, or any other "modern" ship embellishments that keep the crowds entertained, and we don't want what we call "stuffy luxury".

We signed for this cruise because of the areas the cruise covered, especially Istanbul and after doing a Rhone River Cruise we were anxious to try the new ocean liner.....we were not disappointed.
