First, let me say that I really enjoyed my 9 day cruise on Ponant’s Le Jacques Cartier. The trip started in Istanbul and ended in Venice. It’s a luxury cruise line and much to my liking, it caters to the small passenger market. I believe there were 164 or so passengers on the cruise. We love Azamara for its informal, friendly feel, along with excellent service, great food and inclusive wines. We definitely enjoy the small ships and interesting itineraries. Having experienced one mega-ship cruise, we will never go above 700 capacity again.

Our second cruise with Ponant, this time on their new ship, Le Bougainville.
Our cabin on deck 5 was ready as we embarked early in Istanbul.. we found the cabin to be comfortable, enough space for 2, a comfy bed, lovely verandah. The linen was good quality.

Our outside cabin was great - spacious, heaps of storage space, excellent bathroom with non-stick shower screen and screened toilet. Buffet offered great choices but the decor needs updating. I chose this cruise because of the itinerary and enjoyed all of it. I was a solo female and loved having a cabin to myself. The food was good and my cabin was kept clean and tidy. I used room service several times after a day of long tours. I enjoyed getting up early and getting coffee and watching the sun rise. The ship was quiet and beautiful in the early morning.

We chose this cruise because of the exciting ports we visited. We visited Israel and it was an amazing place. We stayed over night in Jerusalem and felt quite safe. The place is so full of history and is so powerful, just loved it.
