I chose this cruise because of the itinerary and enjoyed all of it. I was a solo female and loved having a cabin to myself. The food was good and my cabin was kept clean and tidy. I used room service several times after a day of long tours. I enjoyed getting up early and getting coffee and watching the sun rise. The ship was quiet and beautiful in the early morning. The tours offered by Celebrity were nice but I also booked tours through another tour company and went ashore to ports that were close to the ship. Each decision I made turned out great! The variety of choices was why I booked this cruise. I got to know a lot of nice people on my tours which made me feel comfortable. I stayed on 4 extra days in Rome and toured the Vatican, took a day trip to Tuscany, did some wine tasting and did a segway tour of Rome. ALL EXCELLENT! Read Less

chose this for Israel. The accessible cabin and balcony was better than expecting although having a quick look at cabins in the same grade they did look small. MDR not enough choice on menu for 12 days would have been acceptable on 4 day cruise. Service was very slow. Only had 4 sea days so daytime entertainment should have been easy instead of non existent. Can only hope this is a fault of this ship and not throughout the fleet because of new company policy. Only the second cruise with Celebrity but must say had it been the first we would not go back for the second. The embarkation and disembark was very well organised so they have that in their favour Didn't use shore excursions but did hear mixed reviews. Now formal has been taken over by Chic it may have been better to at least insist on smart dress based on the first person I saw who looked like he was wearing work clothes which hadn't been washed for at least 4 weeks. We chose this cruise because of the wonderful itinerary. Malta, Cyprus and Israel were all new to us and having the chance to spend time in Rome after the cruise was a big factor in our decision. The Constellation is a very nice ship. Some of our fellow passengers felt it was getting worn looking, but we felt everything was in excellent condition and upscale. The food in the dining room was a big disappointment. Despite flowery descriptions of different sauces, it was mostly bland and like something you would get at a Dennys restaurant. The lobster night was good and there was always a New York sirloin steak on the menu if you didn't like the daily presentations. We felt that Celebrity nickel and dimed us to death for every little thing on the cruise. The lowest price wine in the dining room was $37 a bottle. When you added on the 18% gratuity, it brought it to over $40 a bottle and this was no great vintage, but a domestic California or Washington state wine. They sold bottles of wine in the buffet for $20, but you could not bring them to the dining room. Just another example of their trying to extort as much extra money from the passengers as they could. On sea days there was a general lack of things to do unless you wanted to pay for a wine tasting or cooking demonstration. As usual, pay to play! There was only one free movie on the tv every day, mostly old movies and movies for kids like Zootopia! Of course, pay to view had plenty for $14.95 each!! Really! The price for the cruise was low so I guess that Celebrity wanted to make up for that by all the extra charges. It was disappointing. I don't think we will be too quick to book with Celebrity again. Certainly Holland America and are superior. We had a balcony cabin and were pleased with the size of the room and the balcony. The shows put on by the dancers and singers were really good. There was an Italian singer who was excellent, but the comedian, Womack, was not very good and offended a good number of people in the audience with his critique of American politics. We did not feel that was appropriate from an Englishman. The ports were excellent. We did not do any of the ship's excursions as they were a lot more expensive thatn independent tours which were easily found on the web. The dining room service could have been better, but it was not the fault of the waiter and assistant waiter. We had a table of eleven and they also had to serve an additional table of twelve. It was simply too much for two people to handle efficiently. Some nights we waited over half an hour for our appetizers to arrive. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the exciting ports we visited. We visited Israel and it was an amazing place. We stayed over night in Jerusalem and felt quite safe. The place is so full of history and is so powerful, just loved it. We thought the crew on Celebrity Constellation were great and very helpful especially a waiter in the buffet, his name was Angel and he was just loved by everyone. He used to sing Angel of the morning as he got you your coffee or tea, just a delight. We found the food in the dining room to be on the cold side and we went to The Ocean Liner speciality restaurant as we do every time we cruise with Celebrity but were so disappointed with the food and service this time. The Tuscan Grill was amazing. We only did our excursions that we arranged through the site on Cruise Critic with other members. We met some awesome people from all over the world. The days at sea could of had more games ect but all they seemed to have was Art Auctions and sales. The TV system needs upgrading and they played the same movie over and over for 24 hrs then changed it. We like to veg out in the afternoons when we have a day at sea to recoup after the port intensive cruise and on all our other cruise they had about 4 movies playing which was nice. There were all other channels on the satellite but mostly Bloomberg or news channels. We had a balcony cabin 6078 and then concierge 8076 the last cabin was slightly bigger not by much though. But we enjoyed our cruise very much. Read Less

Spent 12 nights on the Celebrity Constellation in October 2016. For a 14 year old ship she is in very good condition. She was refurbed about 3-4 years ago but is well maintained. She does not have the glamour of some of the newer ships perhaps but that was of no consequence. Sailed from Athens. Took Bus X80 from Syntagma Sq and were dropped off about 50m from check in. Check in was painless and since we were early all classes checked in quickly. We had opted for Aqua Guarantee and were allocated cabin 9046. It was very typical of balcony staterooms on that level in the forward half of the ship. The overhang from the pool deck had several consequences. There was a lot of condensation on the underside of the pool deck which dripped onto our balcony in the mornings. In warmer weather it may not be an issue. The sun only got to the balcony early or late in the day. In warm weather this would be a bonus. Another bonus was that when it did rain our balcony was protected. We liked dining in BLU restaurant which is reserved for Aqua class only. The service and presentation was very good. We had a couple of lunches in the MDR and were pleasantly surprised by the standard there also. The Buffet was of a slightly lower standard than we would have expected but that seems to be a deliberate strategy by Celebrity to pitch their upper tier dining experiences at your wallet. While the specialty restaurants fit the 5* billing the buffet is only 4* based on our limited experience. Celebrity appear to position themselves to target travellers who are prepared to pay an average price for a cruise but then pay extra for the premium levels of dining. We had a very full cruise in terms of activities and found ourselves lingering in the restaurant chatting with fellow cruisers and consequently did not attend any of the theatre presentations. Feedback from others indicated we had not really missed out most nights. This cruise was supposed to originate in Istanbul but after the June 2016 Terrorist bombings Athens was made base port. Everyone we spoke with was disappointed but realistic in their understanding of the changes. Most had Israel as No1 target and Istanbul as No2 so were not totally put out. Celebrity were very supportive with the changes forced on us as a result and they score a definite 5/5 for that. Our tour itinerary:Started from Athens; Kusadasi, Turkey; Rhodes, Greece; Limassol, Cyprus; Haifa, Israel; Ashdod, Israel; Valletta, Malta; Civitavecchia, Rome Disembark. Every port is interesting and there is more than enough to do. Just walking around the Old Town in Rhodes was a day in its self. it is about 300m from the Dock. In Cyprus we took a bus tour organised by another cruiser which was interesting. Consensus is that you need to have an organised tour in Israel. Those who simply went ashore in general felt they had not made the most of their time. Ashdod is too far from Tel Aviv or Jerusalem for an easy shore day unless you have an organised tour. In Malta we took a HOHO bus trip and saw quite a lot of the island. It was only 2 1/2 hours but there was not a lot of time for more unless you were organised and next time we would do a tour. Disembarkation at Civitavecchia can be an expensive process unless you have plenty of time. Transfer to Rome or the airport was offered at $75 pp. We had all day so with others we met on board we walked off the ship at 9.00; waited ages for the port shuttle to the gates. we were deposited at a bus stop and paid $2 for the bus to the station and $5 for a train ticket to Rome where we arrived at 12, put our bags in storage and walked around until about 5.00pm when we took a bus to the airport for $6. It can be done reasonably cheaply but you need time and public transport was crowded. Overall a very pleasant cruise and Celebrity are definitely up there for us. Read Less

We booked this cruise a year and a half ago. What fun planning. There were 4 of us, all retired, but active. We picked this cruise because of the itinerary and our past experiences with Celebrity. The ship was originally to depart from Istanbul, but the bombings at the airport there resulted in Celebrity changing our departure port to Athens. I am glad I booked my air thru Choice Air, as they took care of the changes without charge. We arrived 3 days early and stayed at The Central Athens Hotel. It was located in the Plaka district, which was close to many of the sights. Breakfast was included. We used Michael's Amazing Tours for a day trip to Corinth and Athens. We also used him for our transport from the airport to the hotel and a half day tour before he dropped us off at the ship. Good tours, good driver. Embarkation was a breeze. We were onboard in 15 minutes. Due to a drop in price we had a concierge stateroom. Not sure the extra perks are worth paying more, but since it didn't cost us extra, it was nice. As I have found in the past the crew was attentive, and friendly. The food was good, although I missed the nightly Sushi in the buffet. Now you have to pay for it at Sushi on 5. Entertainment in the main theater was about the same. The lounge had a good Irish couple, singing and playing. The wine cellar had a violin duet from Poland who were very good. Internet was much improved! Almost as fast as home. The plans offered were expensive and restrictive. That needs adjustment. Top marks for whoever came up with the reboarding procedure. Every ship I've been on has had an employee with sanitizer at the gangway. This trip you didn't get spritzed until you put all your stuff on the belt for the x-ray machine. Made getting back on board much easier. We used private companies for our tours, since we like smaller groups. In Kusadasi we went to Ephesus. It is a don't miss site. The tour also included lunch at a rug factory. Yes they would love to sell you a rug, but there was no pressure. Ottl Travel's guide was very good. Next up was Rhodes Greece. We had no plans and just walked the old city. In Limassol, Cyprus we did a jeep tour up to the mountains. I'm to old to ride in a jeep! We did have a very good lunch at a tavern in the mountains. Now came the highlight of our trip, Haifa and Ashdod. We had 3 days in Israel and wore ourselves out. GTI provided the tours and we saw Galilee, Nazareth, and the Jorden in Northern Israel, then Jerusalem and Bethlehem the following day. Our final day we went to Masada and the Dead Sea. There was so much to see, glad we got a taste. We had friends who were there in May and they said it was too hot. Glad we did it in Oct. as the weather was in the 80's. Our last port before Rome was Valletta Malta. We walked around the city and enjoyed the sights. We departed the ship in Civitavecchia. We took a tour of Orvieto and Bagnoregio (two hill towns in Umbria) on the way to Rome. We rented an apartment for 4 days and saw most of the places visitors go. Fun time. A great trip, with many memories! Read Less

My 20th cruise and 5th with Celebrity - this was not nearly as good as the other Celebrity cruises. Some ways that Celebrity fell down: Embarkation was awful. We were dropped off by taxi and after going through initial security had to roll our luggage across a large parking lot in pouring rain while luggage handlers stood under shelter. Check in was quick. We did walk off disembarkation and there were no issues. Celebrity changed the itinerary to Israel two days before departure. We were in CDG airport when the text message was delivered. Less desirable ports were substituted - Greece cruises are generally less expensive than Holy Land cruises - no compensation was given except $15+ refund of Israel port charges. UK guests were given the opportunity to cancel with a refund which Guest Services adamantly denied. Israel booked excursions which are very expensive were not refunded - shipboard credit was given which meant a lot of spending on board or forgoing the refund. Room service was appalling. One morning we had a phone call at 7am inquiring if we knew the omelet we ordered for the 7-7:30 delivery was an upcharge. We knew. By 7:40 the food had not been delivered. After two separate calls it was delivered five minutes before we had to meet in the theater for an excursion. In all cases the hot food was room temp and berry parfait was soggy. (If the parfait is ordered in the spa area they charge so I guess I should be glad it was free!). We did receive a bottle of champagne and an apology, but we don't like champagne so it made a nice gift to a fellow cruiser. San Marco dining open seating - very slow service and cold food. One night we waited over thirty minutes for our waiter only to learn that there was no waiter assigned to our table! Chaos in seating diners for buffets in the MDR. I believe Celebrity knew it was a mess because on our last day we received six free chocolate dipped strawberries in our room from the Maitre-D. 10th floor buffet - good variety of salads and cold food but chronic missing cups, coffee, cream, dishes, etc. Hot Food selection was very mundane, however. Also frequently tables were loaded with dirty dishes in the evening when looking for a table. (we gave up on San Marco.) In general a severe lack of activities - it was good if you wanted a spa sales job, art auction, or other paying activity. Free activities- almost none. Enrichment speaker was good especially with the itinerary change. Entertainment was adequate - nice guitar in the cafe, and orchestra in the reflection lounge on a couple occasions; Other lounges nothing and they were all empty. It seemed like a very empty ship although staff denied it. Shore excursions were mediocre and expensive. The shore excursion staff was very good, though, and helped when I noticed at the last minute that I booked the wrong excursion on the TV. (Or maybe it wasn't my fault given how many problems I encountered.) Captains Club perks are nice, but most require a purchase. (Free: 90 mins Internet, scoop of gelato, launder 20 items, dry clean one item, press two items. They make the room attendants do the free things!) Condition of ship was good given its age and seemed very clean. Our concierge room on deck 8 was small, but nice and up to par. A couple bright spots: Elias in Reflections lounge and Angel in dining room (how does he remember everyone's name?). Our stateroom attendant was also very good. This was very far from our best cruise and actually one of the worst. Read Less

I really enjoyed the above cruise on the celebrity constellation in October 2015. The employees of the company go out of their way to make you feel great. It was very disappointing not to go into Israel . Instead we went to 4 Greek islands. A shame there wasn't something else to break of all the old churches and look alike places, even tho they were interesting. Other cruises had many informative lectures, but the celebrity did not. That was not good. Their crew of actors for their production numbers were phenomenal .! This was not a cruise for children as about 90% of people were 60 and older. That was a plus for some of us! Naturally shore excursions are high, as they are on any ship. I found the hop on/hop off busses in a number of cities to be great. Besides giving a bit of info as u pass a point of interest, you pay one nominal fee for a 24 hour pass and you can get on and off the bus whenever it stops! These are run by the port you are in and big competition for the shore excursions sold! Our stateroom was very small, but I heard that other ones in the same area were a bit bigger. But I never plan on staying in it for too long anyway! There was a big fitness area, spa, and beauty area. For what we got, where we went, saw, and duration, this was a great deal! Read Less

We have traveled on over 30 cruises. This was our first experience on Celebrity. The good were the employees and their friendlieness. The lunch buffet was very good The entertainment was okay. Many of the entertainers came from England. The French Onion soup in the Tuscan Grille was great. The bad: A thick layer of dust under our bed. We found a memory card under the bed that someone had dropped on the carpet. The dinner menu entrees, in the anytime dining room, were no better or different than Holland America or Princess except Celebrity did offer escargot and French onion soup every night. We ate at Ocean Liners, a pay for restaurant ($50 per person discounted to 50% off), and the service and food were so poor our account was credited. The internet was extremely slow. When selling the internet service, the employees lied about the speed. There were occassional toilet odors in the hallways. The breakfast buffet food, service, and experience level of the employees who prepared eggs, was not very good. The Ugly: The itinerary was changed, supposedly at the last moment. We learned from a tour guide on one of the Greek Islands that we visited in lieu of Israel, that 3 weeks before we sailed the Greek tour company knew we were going to visit the Island. The deliberate deception on the part of Celebrity, was despicable. Read Less

Well, Celebrity did it again - We were booked to Israel and unfortunately, due to security concerns, Celebrity needed to change the itinerary...well - they did so with panache. While we were still disappointed with the modification, we certainly could not blame Celebrity for global politics. The overnight in Jerusalem was replaced with an overnight in Athens, and they replaced a few sea days to make this itinerary packed with fabulous ports. A 12 night cruise with only 2 days at sea - extraordinary!!! The Constellation was a dream - more intimate than the Solstice class ships, but with many of their amenities and full style! The crew and staff could not have been more accommodating or fun, for that matter. Food, excursions, service, cleanliness, and entertainment were all what we have come to expect from this higher end cruise line. We stayed in a Concierge Veranda Cabin on the 8th deck and it was immaculate and well appointed. The bathroom showed a little bit of wear, but otherwise it was almost identical to our former cabins on the Silhouette, Solstice, and Equinox. The entertainment was fantastic and the brand new cruise director did quite well under some tricky circumstances. Our favorite evening was watching the Tenors of Rock (www.tenorsofrock.com) - amazing!!! Embarkation and disembarkation were completely painless - both in Istanbul and Rome - completely painless and FAST!!! Read Less

Although we had a wonderful time on board due to the great people we met from our Cruise Critic contacts, we felt the ship's atmosphere and entertainment were sorely lacking. Having travelled on the Infinity twice, we expected the same experience or better in the Constellation. We were very disappointed. The crew and Maitre "D" in the dining room went out of their way to please us. We didn't like being nickeled and dimed for every little thing. A small bottle of water was $ 3:50, on shore . 50 cents! Food improved after the first two days which were sub-par. The changes made from past cruises were not appreciated. Unless you were in a suite, you could not use Michael's club and there was a separate dining room for suite travelers. The worst was canceling the stop in Israel that was supposed to be for three days. Most people booked the cruise because of the Israel stop. While we understood the reason, we didn't appreciate the replacements chosen as we had been there before, so we spent 5 days more in places we had already been and less time at sea to relax in the first 12 days of the cruise we had only two sea days. Very hectic. The crossing was great! The South American cruise on the infinity( 2014 ) had a very lively guitar player who entertained in the bar every night with such enthusiasm that you couldn't help wanting to dance and have a good time. The feeling when you left the dining room and heard his music was so upbeat that we looked forward to something similar on the Connie.....we didn't get it. All in all we enjoyed ourselves but it wasn't due to the cruise director or the entertainment...very disappointing. We made our own fun with our cruise critic group. The best lectures were those given by the traveling astronomer, Mr. Sink. He was wonderful! Read Less

This was my third cruise on a big ship. Overall, I was impressed with all aspects of this cruise. Service was very good, staff was very friendly, and both the food and service in the main dining room was better than on my 2 prior NCL cruises. I found my interior cabin to be very satisfactory, and kept very clean by house services. The cruise was originally destined for 3 days in Israel, however, this was cancelled at the last minute due to the hostilities there. This was a big disappointment, and Greek island stops were substituted. I had not been to any of the Greek islands, so was able to enjoy them -- especially on Santorini after joining an excursion organized through cruisecritic at the last minute. I arranged my own shore excursion activities and travel transfers to and from the ship, so cannot comment on the ship's excursions or transfers. I easily hired a legal taxi at the Istanbul airport after asking for direction at the tourist info booth after exiting customs. The fare was very reasonable. Upon disembarking, I took the train from Civitavecchia to Rome Termini, then Rome to the Airport. This was very easy to do and very economical as compared with transfer costs. I used the ship's gym facilities and can state that the cardio and weigh machines were new and in excellent condition. The theater shows were very good -- including an Elton John look-alike who was very talented and a concert pianist who performed beautifully. To sum up, quality of service was excellent with the exception of guest services. There was a refund of port charges for the Israel cancellation. I called to inquire as to why my refund was less than what others were receiving, and a proper response was not provided. Read Less

My wife and I traveled on the Constellation in October of 2015 from Istanbul to Rome. Although our original itinerary had us spending three days in Israel, the violence there caused a diversion to several stops in Greece. Having not traveled to any of these ports, we were fine with the change and happy that we re-claimed 2 sea days along the way. We had a Concierge Veranda Cabin on Deck 7. The upgraded room service menu and fruit in the room each day were highlights of the upgrade. We enjoyed the meals in the MDR, but were blown away by the experience in the specialty dining alternatives, Ocean Liners and Tuscan Grille. We used our OBC to purchase a package of meals and actually ended up eating in the specialty restaurants more than the MDR due to the incredible food and wine alternatives. We had the Classic Bev package and it was more than enough for us. Tried at least 12 different reds from around the globe. The fitness center was well equipped and never crowded. We also spent several days in the Persian Gardens Spa, which was incredible. The shows were all entertaining especially the on-board cast of dancers and musicians, Can't say enough about the experience and the value on the Constellation. We organized our own excursions with other CC members or by ourselves so can't comment on the ship's excursion offerings. We are in our early 50s and have not cruised for many years. After this great experience we have already booked another Mediterranean X cruise next fall and look forward to many more after that. Read Less

After a brief visit to Turkey a few years back we wanted to go to Istanbul. The October Constellation trip was a good price performer in the off season. We even got the free tips package, which was also popular with the crew as these cannot be removed :) The embarkation was smooth and trouble free. We took the Havatas Airport Bus (13TL) and stayed at The Point Hotel in Taksim Square which was right at the bus drop off. We had the hotel call the cab in the morning to get to the ship. Note- negotiate cab fares up front- meters are ignored. This is a nice, well run ship. We marveled at the view of Istanbul before we left and wished to stay longer. We could find a decent beer (Leffe and an American Microbrew IPA) and the Captain was Greek and very entertaining and interesting. I was super cranky at the posted sign when I went to try to change to Anytime Dining (full don't bother) and the MDR food was OK - they have no idea how to make soup. The water for making tea was lukewarm as per legal requirements is a guess. We heard a lot of grumbling it was hard to find free food later in the afternoon or very late at night. We love the MDR vs. the buffet experience and the service was flawless. The highlight of the ship for us was the band- we like to ballroom dance. Kathleen and The Saints were in the aft lounge every night. The dance floor was a bit small but we made it work. There was a fabulous Euro DJ (Inferno) who played every night in the Martini Bar. Sadly you could not find him where there was a dance floor. No smoke was noticed anywhere :) They would open the helicopter pad for important sightseeing spots and you could chat with the Officers (the Housekeeping Director was a great resource for questions) - this was a nice touch. There was no piped in music in the library- yaa. This was our first time on Celebrity. They need a bigger variety of shore excursions at Kusadasi- we were less interested in ruins after 11 days. The ports were excellent- Corfu was just amazing for the forts and Greek lunch. Read Less

I really wish I had paid more attention to Social Studies and History when I was in school. As well I wish my short term memory was better. This cruise through parts of Greece and Turkey was really something. We went on a good number of excursions all of which we enjoyed thoroughly. I had been told that a highlight would be Ephesus (Kusadasi) in Turkey and it was certainly that. Santorini in Greece was something to see as we sailed into port. It was almost like a painting of buildings on a cliff wall. On board the ship we found the Constellation to be minimally crowded - probably most so at the fresh made pasta bar - and there was a lot of clean, comfortable public space. Our room was 9067 and it was a nicely laid out room with a bit of extras as we were booked in Aqua2Class. Eating in Blu was very enjoyable and we had a nice opportunity to get to know the staff. We also at one night in the Oceans and three nights in Tuscan. I liked the menu in Oceans, but there was not much on it for my wife, so we chose to go just the one time. This is my second cruise with Celebrity and I have a real liking for el Baccio coffee bar. The mini desserts suit me and the coffee drinks are always good. From the first day, I had a fun time chatting with April who kept both my wife and I quite satisfied with his service for the whole trip. No fault of Celebrity, but our embarkation was not what we wanted as our plane had to fly BACK to the mainland after being two hours out into the Atlantic. Fortunately the problem was bathrooms not flushing and not engines not working. This meant we got to Istanbul many hours after we were supposed to and simply got on the ship without exploring. We didn't explore Istanbul again on our return as there had been a terrorist attack that killed many people in the capital the day before so we were advised to stick near the hotel. It was lots of travel hours to get there from the West Coast of Canada and then get back again, but the cruise was most worth it. Read Less

Ship looks great, is very clean and excellent maintained, and the most important - top service, whereever you are!!! I have travelled a lot, both for business and for pleasure, and have never seen such a great service. People serving and helping you and genuinely enjoying doing this - well done guys. Cabines are very comfortable awith a lots of storage place! Otherwise also the food is great - a lot of choice, always available and very tasty. The only minus I can add is that the shore excursions are quite expensive, but most people that do not want them find their way anyway! The activities and night shows are also very interesting. We had booked this cruise mainly on the destinations with Istanbul being our number one priority to visit. Unfortunately a couple of weeks prior to sailing the overnight stay in Istanbul was cancelled due to the ongoing troubles in the region. I was quite concerned about the cancellation as we were on a Celebrity organised fly cruise which only arrived very late on the day of sailing but was assured that this would not be a problem. We arrived at the ship at approximately 7:30pm with around 60 other passengers but the check in and security clearance still took over two hours to complete. I'm at a loss as to why additional staff could not be available to make this process more efficient. After finally boarding and managing to get a table in the anytime dining section of the MDR we were then informed that we must attend a secondary muster drill 20 minutes later. I absolutely agree that safety is paramount but the so called muster drill was basically a box ticking exercise. Even then it was scant on genuine information and would not have helped in case of a genuine emergency. We then headed back to our stateroom to find that they basically hadn't bothered finishing the setup. We were missing all the usual information including the daily, our Captains Club information and Cruise Critic connections information. This resulted in us missing the get together which was arranged for the morning after. Most disappointingly the waste baskets were still full of the previous guests rubbish. So after a long days travel we decided to get an early night, put the mishaps behind us and start afresh in the morning. Unfortunately at 5am we got woken by what sounded like a hammer being repeatedly stuck against the back wall of the cabin. This only lasted for about a minute, but as it happened almost every day, seriously affected our sleep throughout the voyage. We have sailed on the Constellation twice before and never been disturbed in this way. Avoid the newer cabins on deck 11 aft unless you are a very early riser or sound sleeper. Despite these issues the vast majority of our cruise was very good. The attitude of most of the crew and staff were exceptional. Our waiter and his team in the main dining room probably the best I have ever had in 14 cruises on various line. The dining experience in Ocean Liners is fabulous. Whilst a cover charge of $89 for the five senses menu is steep by speciality restaurant norms the five courses with paired wine should not be missed by any serious food and wine lover. Make sure you go hungry though as unlike a traditional tasting menu with smaller portions this is five full dishes and a generous pour of wine with each. Service in Ocean Liners is on a par or exceeds the best I have experience in any restaurant land or at sea. It's worth taking a cruise on this ship just to experience. The ship itself is in a good condition and the entertainment on board is mostly to a high standard. Whilst we're not really into the theatre shows a family member who travelled with us attended most of the shows on board and was thoroughly impressed. For those not on one of the drinks packages the Rendezvous Lounge have two daily two hour happy hours between 4-6 and 10-12. You can get a very drinkable glass of cabernet sauvignon for $4.5 at these times. The ports we visited were fabulous with my personal favourites being Santorin, Athens and Ephesus. In Athens you get the Hop on Hop off bus in the port for 15 euro which drops you at the acropolis and then use the same ticket to get to all the other major attractions. In Ephesus as you get off the ship there is a shopping complex. On the first floor is a local tour operator that runs much smaller group tours. This covers all the sights and more that the ship organised tours visit and is only 40 euro per person including entrance to Ephesus, House of the Virgin Mary and the English speaking guide. Unfortunately my trip ended with another serious disappointment. Unusually for me I hadn't been keeping track of the account throughout the voyage so when our statement arrived I was shocked to discover that we had been charged the daily service fee. This was despite paying in advance for the service charges at the time we made the booking. I thought this would be easy to resolve so approached guest services to query the situation. To say they were unhelpful is a gross understatement. After checking with head office in Miami they were adamant that we had not prepaid and basically insinuated that I was trying to steal from them. The attempt at an olive branch (entirely as an afterthought) was that maybe my travel agent had made a mistake. Since my return I have queried the matter with my agent and checked my Celebrity invoice which clearly shows the prepaid gratuities. Even if the error were on my side, I sincerely feel that the way I was made to feel is totally unacceptable, for what is essentially a customer service industry. Read Less

This cruise met all my expectations of a Celebrity cruise. Ship was very clean, had great staff and great entertainment. There are now four production shows that are new. I found out the dancers and singers had only came on ship two weeks ago and performed the shows one time before. They were excellent and looked like they had performed for months. Guest entertainers shows were varied in their performances. We were pleasantly surprised that there wasn't any problem finding seats in the Oceanview cafe. We usually try to avoid eating there because of crowding. This time we ate breakfast there all but one day since the food was great. I loved the activities director. Usually this staff tries to be silly and is late to events. This cruise the staff was professional!! Read Less

Celebrity Constellation Cruise – Turkey, Greece, Croatia – 12 days This cruise was awful. The room was not up-to-date very old décor, most likely just repainted. No entertainment for cruise days, food was the same breakfast, lunch and dinner, tasteless. There was a 24-hour coffee but only one station opened and sometimes the coffee was cold or not made or no milk, cream and cups. Also the smoking area was very limited. There was no help when someone lost their luggage, always maybe the next day it will arrive. We had no luggage for the duration of the cruise and was offered 2 t-shirts and one toothbrush for 2 people. Every time you bent over you get charged for something. Nothing is free. This was our first and last on Celebrity. Read Less

We went on this cruise solely because of the itinery which proved to be the correct choice. The Greek Islands & Turkey were great. We arrived in Istanbul late due to the flight time, then over 1hr 20 to get to the ship by then it was 2045 so up to the buffet for something to eat.!st impressions ok, not realising same thing all the time. Next morning , breakfast. What a carry on, first of all find the English counter then find a plate then look for cutlery. It was the same at lunch time. Every day was the same, with no change to the menu at all. Dinner was very good. Excellent waiters and food fairly varied but quite small portions, no good if you have a good appetite. Our cabin was 1st class (316) ideal for dining room & getting on/off the ship. Entertainment on the whole was very good. good bands/duo's etc in the bars were excellent. The main artists in the theatre were English so were to a high standard. The ships company (singers/dancers) were bad, very bad in some cases, they only performed 3 times in 12 nights (one being at 2300) which was lucky for us. All in all it was an enjoyable cruise with great locations and all the staff on board were attentive & friendly. Would we use Celebrity again. Possibly if the itinery was good & a gratuity/drinks package was included. If not , then no as 18% on everything could make it a very expensive holiday. Read Less

Sailed on the constellation, last september, and found so much lacking this time. Dining: service not as good, did not pay attention to what i ordered. the meat was always dry. one night we had lamb and everyone after said it was chewy and hard to eat at all. Worst ever entertainment, only one show was really worth watching that was goronwy thom., the rest we saw last year nothing changed. What really was the worst was nothing to do on sea days, we only saw a get together one day (dancing) last year the staff all jumped in the pool, even the entertainment director and played vollyball. There was lot's going on.,this time sad to say we were bored. I have never been on a cruise ship (done 12) where the last formal night, did not do something with the staff, introducing them all, one by one and we clapped, and the napkin waving, silly as it is, it is fun to watch everyone doing it., this time nothing. We finished our meal, and we all left. This entertainment director needs to put some effort into doing his job, we had better entertainment on the century and that is a much older ship., but i was impressed and told them so, as it was so good. Cabin service, constantly had to ask for shampoo., we brought shower get, etc., but not shampoo, expecting to get in our cabin. i would leave the empty one on the floor in the shower, he must have seen it was empty. Last year, and previous years, celebrity including the constellaton used cloth towels in the public washrooms, must be cutting back, as there was non this year, just the paper towels. I will continue sailing with celebrity to get our level up, but was greatly dissapointed this time., constellation standards have greatly declined. Read Less

Booked this cruise in January as we really wanted to see Yalta, Sevastopol, and Odessa, and the Putin invaded Crimea and the FO advised against travelling to the Ukraine. Despite this the itinerary remained unchanged in the adverts. I wrote to them to ask where would we be going and got back a generic reply about safety etc and the situation was under review, and if a change was made we would be notified with the options. In May we received the revised itinerary from the TA and the options were go to the new destinations or lose our deposit! So we went to what was described as 'the finest possible experience of the Black Sea'. Burgas in Bulgaria was grim and the town looked like the 2nd world war had just finished; we did not land at Varna, also in Bulgaria as it was too rough to tender. Trabzon was a nice town but with very little for the tourist. We were advised that the trip to the monastery was a waste of time because of the 300 slippery steps, and the mist so we would not see anything. The most exciting thing in Sinop was a disused Jail!. Things improved considerably when we left the Black Sea, and Mykonos, Athens, and Ephesus were excellent. Hence if anyone is planning to go to the Black Sea I would think again. Read Less

We sailed on the Celebrity Constellation 11-Day Holy Land cruise this last October. The boat was quite nice so no complaints on that end. However, the attention to their passenger's satisfaction was flippant at best, inexistant at worst. To begin with, they managed to switch my husband and daughter's pictures on their passes so that every time we got on and off of the boat we had problems ; we were inevitably stopped which caused backed-up lines at the security check-point and inconvenience for everyone. Each time we explained and asked that the pictures be switched and each time they reassured us they would take care of the problem - it was not until the LAST day of the cruise that the issue was resolved. Finally, due to bad weather the cruise ended in Naples rather than Rome. In the process of busing us to Rome my husband's luggage was lost and it took Celebrity almost 3-weeks to get it to us. We received a lukewarm apology for the inconvenience and an offer to discount our 'next' trip. Given that we were seven in our group (thus a sizable investment in tickets) I would have expected better attention. There will not be 'another' time with Celebrity for us. Read Less

After sailing on the Millenium fro Tokyo to Vancouver in May we were ready to give up on Celebrity but had previously booked the Constellation 2 Oct sailing and decided to give them one more chance and we are glad that we did. Everything that was wrong with the Millenium and there were a magnitude of service and ship maintenance issues- we found all in very good order on the Constellation. Ports were changed because of the strife in the Ukraine so we visited two ports in Turkey instead. Trabzon and Sinop. Neither were particularly attractive but we were not two disappointed because they were new and we had been to the ports that were dropped on previous cruises. Food, Cabin and Bar services were what we had previously come to expect from Celebrity. We booked our next Celebrity cruise on this ship for August 2015 doing the Adriatic. Be careful when booking onboard as they will not or cannot book you into existing groups. In our case I called celebrity when we got home and had the booking transferred to a group, kept the same cabin and on board booking benefits and reduced our cost by almost $1000 Read Less
